Ordered the shrimp fried rice bowl and it was amazing. It even included service with a smile.

If you haven't had Cambodian food in Long Beach, where have you been??…read more Phnom Penh has been on my list for quite some time now, and I was stoked to finally get a chance to try. Parking wasn't too bad since there's a good amount of street parking nearby. There's a bit of a wait, especially on the Sunday I went, but Yelp waitlist makes it much better. It's quite small inside, so very understandable. The menu is quite extensive, with a selection of noodle soups and pan fried noodles. We got the chicken student noodles, which came out rather quickly. I loved the texture of the noodles, as they had that bounciness to them. The chicken was cooked perfectly and made for a well-rounded dish.

The restaurant is very lively and homely! We ended up ordering a Student Noodle, Mo's Special Noodle, and Mo's Special Porridge. All were extremely flavorful and full of texture. The Student Noodle was on the sweeter and savory side, which was a good balance. The porridge was so hearty I wish I could eat it everyday. The garlic fish sauce is a great pairing with all dishes. Portions are big and totally worth it to share among the table. Highly recommend this! Cambodian food is definitely a rarer cuisine to find, so this is definitely a must try if you are ever in Long Beach!

We've never been before and it was nice. We really wanted to feast it up at the stalls but the lines were so long and it was so hot. Thankfully we found this amazing gem! This place is strictly CASH ONLY. So please come prepared. We came and it was a full mad house. Lines and parking was full I knew that's when we were going to get a great meal. Came with my mom and we DEF ordered more food than we can take on. My mom hasn't had Cambodian food in a while so we def made people wonder why we ordered so much lol Food was so savory and delicious. Seating is limited hopefully they can expand. I think they deserve it as a lot of people raved about their dishes. Service was friendly as well and short staffed due to the holiday. All patrons were really understanding of that. I would def come back again or wishes I wasn't so far so I can DoorDash this!

The iced coffee was solid. The bad: The women who work here were a lot less friendly. The tables were so close to one another that we couldn't sit across from one another. Food also took an incredibly long time to come out even though we only ordered two dishes--student noodles and beef skewers. We also had to wave down a server just to follow up on the iced coffee that I ordered, especially since this was already after the food had finally arrived. Lastly, while it was good that they had their own parking lot, exiting through the almost too narrow alley was incredibly challenging in either direction. All in all, still remain torn about returning.

Service was kind and quick throughout lunch, and it definitely feels like a local Cambodian family run business. Interior is clean, and they have a parking lot although I can see it getting filled up. This is my first time trying Cambodian cuisine, and definitely left wanting more in the future! Rice is not free with their entree/shared items. I wish it were included with shared meat/vegetable items. Beef Lok Lak ($20, 9/10) - good portion size! Shared between four guys, and it felt like enough. - meet itself is super flavorful, chopped into small chunks, and serves a fantastic balance of savory yet sweet - served with sides of tomato, cucumber, lettuce, lemon, dipping salt and pepper Student Noodle ($15, 8/10) - delicious! This almost felt like a mix of Vietnamese Noodles + Thai Pad Thai. the Pad Thai comes from the savory/sweet flavor profile along with bean sprouts and green onions. They also provide a Syed sauce that is very similar to the Vietnamese, pungent flavor, dipping sauce for their eggrolls. - super great dish, Fantastic flavors Overall, really enjoyed the spot! Felt that the prices and portion sizes were reasonable, and a great introductory to Cambodian cuisine (kinda like Viet + Thai mix). Wish that rice were included with some of the entrée options. Parking can be a hit or miss, but service was on point.

I ordered fried pork intestines, my sister chose Lok Lak, and my daughter opted for noodles. Let's highlight the positives first: according to my daughter, the noodles were enjoyable, as she finished every last bit. Unfortunately, my dish of pork intestines was overly dry, resembling cracklings, which was not what I expected. The Lok Lak dish, however, was the most disappointing. The meat selection was tough and nearly inedible. I had to discreetly discard it in a napkin, as it felt like chewing on rubber bands. Additionally, the fried rice and sauce accompanying the Lok Lak were excessively sweet. The only redeeming aspect of our meal was the complimentary soup that came with the rice.

The service was EXCELLENT, the decor was beautiful, there were lots of flowers and lavender lighting throughout the venue. With such an elaborate menu and a large group to feed, there was no delay in keeping the flow of dishes in and pick-up of finished dishes. This was a 8-course dinner, served family style. Large platters of food were brought to our table of 8 guests, which was better than a buffet with hundreds of people waiting in line. Course #1 - Khmer Cold Plate with cured meats, shrimp, and pickled veggies. Good combination of protein and veggies. Course #2 - Grilled Beef with Prahok dipping sauce. Good smokey and rich flavor. Course #3 - Crispy Quail - with Khmer seasoning. Very crunchy and different way to eat Quail. Course #4 - Fish soup in a savory broth. I think this should have been Course #2 before the beef entree. Course #5 - Whole fish with pineapple garnish on a bed of noodles. My personal favorite. Course #6 - Lobster claws with Chow Mein, Veggies and Garlic sauce. We thoroughly enjoyed this one! Course #7 - Pork Fried Rice with diced veggies. Rice was definitely a welcome addition to the meal. Course #8 - Taro dessert with Coconut Milk topping. Not overly sweet, a nice way to round out and end the fabulous meal. I am still in awe of the wonderful time we all had. There was a stage and dance floor on the north side of the dining room. Entertainment by a DJ who played a variety of traditional music and popular tunes as well. They do have a small parking lot with valet service. Bookmark this location for a dining experience with your family, friends and loved ones. Sincerely, Rosemary

The event started at 6 pm, and we expected the seven course dinner to begin around 7 pm, but they didn't start serving until almost 8 pm. By then, everyone was getting hungry. The servers also didn't check on any of the tables throughout the dinner. They simply brought out each course and left. They even started cleaning up about 30 minutes before the event ended. That would've been fine if the tables had been empty, but they actually asked us to get out of our seats so they could remove the table and chair linens. As for the food, some dishes were good while others were just average: Traditional cold plate: 4/5 - I liked the century eggs, and the pickled vegetables were refreshing. Beef steak with anchovy sauce: 3/5 - The beef was well seasoned and nicely charred, but it didn't come with the anchovy sauce that was listed on the menu. House special lobster with egg noodles: 4/5 - The lobster was good, and the noodles were flavorful, but they could've been cooked a little longer since they were a bit too al dente for my taste. Crab meat soup: 3/5 - The soup was thick and flavorful, but it barely had any crab. I'm not sure what else was in it, but it had white square pieces that reminded me of chicharrones with a seafood flavor. House special fried rice: 4/5 - It was flavorful and had plenty of Chinese sausage, but I wish it had more shrimp. Sweet and sour fish and shrimp soup: 3/5 - There was an ingredient I wasn't a fan of. I think they added mint, which gave the soup an unusual flavor. It just wasn't for me. Taro dessert: 4/5 - This was pretty good and was a nice way to end the meal. Overall, I don't see myself coming back to dine here. The food was decent, but there are just too many better restaurants to choose from.

Ice is CHONKY. Amok is really good though. Order this one. I probably didn't order the best dishes they're known for but I don't see myself within the area for late night eats. A Cambodian family in the next table was criticizing their order too. Anyway, they do get a lot of ordered food to-go. A few men were playing dominoes in the middle of the restaurant and the guy in the next table had his feet up on a chair. Restroom was clean.
