Today I waited 30 minutes for a pick up order after showing up later than the estimated pick up time. I ordered 2 banhmi sandwiches. While I waited I saw over a dozen plates of food come out. Finally after waiting for 20 minutes I asked about the food, they told me 2 more minutes. 10 minutes later, they finally brought out my two sandwiches. Some of the worst service Ive had to deal with during a pick up order. However, the Banhmi deal was very good and the sandwich was bussin. Would probably just dine in next time.

They are currently located in the bun belly restaurant and offer to go meals only as far as I can tell. This worked out well for me because I really just wanted to takeout a vermicelli bowl. Ordering online was a breeze and only took about 20 min to be ready. I didn't intend to buy the pork belly bun, but am glad i impulsively did so. The pork was perfectly cooked and flavored, and went well with the other fillings. The vermicelli beef bowl was delicious and substantial for a reasonable price. They didn't back off on the flavoring, which I feel like sometimes happens at other locations. Overall definitely would recommend you try them out if you're in search of some refreshing Vietnamese food!

Ordered through Lunchdrop and requested no jalapeños on the order. My dish came with jalapeños but I was hungry trying to eat before a meeting, so I was diligently removing them and came across a large/long piece of HAIR!! Called the restaurant and the owner at first denied it and I said I have a picture of the hair and the jalapeños and requested a refund. He said that Lunchdrop would have to resolve that or he could provide me with credit there. I won't be eating there again, especially if at first you rudely deny my claims and then just brush me off to figure it out on my own. It was the restaurants fault that my food was not edible though!! Absolutely disgusting!! Only 1 star bc no stars is not an option!!

Food is fine. But service is slow as duck. Don't get me wrong, I get used to and love the authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Meaning I am totally fine almost love seeing grumpy waiters, but here is just different, you will see people waking in in the front and just been ignored for like 5min. Same with to go order. I understand there is staff shortage but the surrounding restaurants aren't like this. I been giving this places 3 chances, won't coming back. The new location sucks. Ordered a Vietnamese coffee for pick up and they had it ready for me behind the counter once I got there. They added ice and handed it to me once I got there. And this is what I got. If your gonna pay $5 for a coffee at least fill it up to the top.

I got the beef rice bowl to go. The order was ready on time and pick up is inside of Bun Belly. I would say I overall, the flavor of the beef and rice was really good. I was disappointed however, in the quality of the beef. Many of the pieces were more fat than beef and some pieces were all fat. I ended up not eating about a quarter of the meat. The vegetables were also soaked in butter, which I'm also not a fan of, especially as part of an Asian dish. I don't think the flavors go well together and the amount of butter was uncomfortable for me. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be going back.

This small establishment is a lot livelier and memorable on the interior that what initially meets the eye. The shop owner was so friendly, eagerly explaining all the items on the menu, cracking jokes while serving food, and practively offering to take our trays away when we finished. This degree of customer service is a rarity itself. The beef pho is a giant bowl of deliciousness. I always like my beef a little rarer to showcase extra freshness and this place delivered. The broth also packs a rich flavor. For drinks, the Vietnamese coffee is a good one and though the peach mojito didn't taste as minty as I expected, it was still refreshing. A wonderful hole in the wall that I recommend to anyone around the area. For UT students, it's just a short bus trip away!

We just dined here and hope to be back again! We ordered the Lemongrass Beef Rice Box, Turmeric Fish Rice Box, and beef pho. Everything was fresh and tasty with the garlic rice and veggies that accompany the rice boxes being the star of the show. I think the fish was better than the beef. Here's what I think they could do to improve (it's almost perfect!) Offer a small size of pho (for kids) or something small/kid size because the plates are large and some kids may not want to share with their family. None of their food is such that the quantity can not be reduced for a smaller portion. Having some scissors to cut the noodles would be great too (like Vietnamese Restaurants usually have) but this is certainly not a deal breaker. I had to share a bowl of pho with my 3 year old and he couldn't eat the noodles and was gagging trying to get them down. I can see why this place has such great reviews.

I love Vietnamese food and have had a ton of great Vietnamese food here in Austin. This is definitely on my list of top places, but it could use a little work. While I got a lot of pork and the flavor on it was excellent, a lot of it was just fat unfortunately. Also the veggies had some pretty great flavors, more intense than other vermicelli bowls I've had before but I really would have loved more veggies. They should include an option when ordering online to add extra veggies!!

Heo is nothing outstanding. Not too bad nor good either. The interior is cute with all the Vietnamese food paintings on the wall. The parking is atrocious though. I had their pho. It was okay. I have a feeling that their bowl was big, but the food portions itself weren't very large. I would rather go have Vietnamese food where the older Vietnamese people at Austin actually go to. The parking was horrible. Heo is located at a super busy part of Austin close to Lamar. You cannot get out of the parking spaces at Heo without directly backing out onto Lamar. If cars are coming, which cars always are, then you'll have to rely on the generosity of someone else on the road to let you go. If you can, park somewhere else rather than the parking designated for Heo.

Really enjoyed coming by for some so food to heal me on a rainy day! You order at the back and then sit yourself down, there's a condiment bar with sriracha and hoisin and napkins and utensils (they give you spoons if needed when your food comes out) Very quick service (food came out in like 5 min) and the man up front was friendly! Also they came over and clean up for you when you leave. The pho comes in a 40oz bowl but there aren't enough noodles to make it really "large" or shareable, I would say it's definitely just one serving. Fortunately for me, I only wanted a little bit of the broth and maybe a few bites so I stole from my friend. The beef inside was VERY delicious, very juicy and soft. I also got a pork belly bao and THAT was also juicy and soft. Probably one of the best pork belly Bao's I have ever had! Good size meat as well. Melted in my mouth. The pork sausage that comes in 3s on a stick was also really good! Wish there had been more sauce because it was on the saltier side but I still liked the flavor. Lastly, the fries. And the sauce was some kind of honey mustard type orange sauce but it was so good! Like tater tots but maybe a little crispier. The sauce really makes it amazing.

Stopped by here for dinner. It was a bit suspicious because when I walked in there was nobody inside but the owner soon walked in and took my order. I got the Pork Belly Banh Mi. It came with tater tots that were flattened and tasted so much better than regular tater tots. They also gave spicy Mayo on the side. The Banh Mi was really good. The pork belly was very soft and melted in your mouth. It also came with a very sweet and delicious sauce on top. Overall, very satisfying, worth it, and delicious! Will definitely come back again :)

It was good. It was really good. I don't usually mess with fusion, but the boss knows what he's doing. We've tried the rice dish, the skewers (amazing), the pho (ok). The menu is not extensive, which is what I like, since I don't have to spend too much time debating if I chose something good. You can't go wrong, and if you're lucky, you get the little yogurt ice dessert during dinnertime and it's fabulous. read more

I had the eggplant bao, which was really good. The eggplant was crispy, and the sauce was delicious. The bun itself was okay, but a little soggy. I also had the tofu bahn mi. The tofu was good, but the bread was very disappointing. A bahn mi should be made with freshly baked, crusty, French bread, not this soft bland stuff it was served on. I haven't had a sit down meal here yet, but I easily placed an online order for pickup via their website. I ordered the pork belly bun and turmeric fish rice dish. The PBB was super flavorful. However, for $4 each, the portion was pretty small. The turmeric fish rice dish was $10 and it was large enough to cover 2 meals for me! The fish had such a lovely blend of seasoning. Please don't forget to squeeze the lime over the fish, because I feel like this is the cherry on top! This dish came with 2 sides of veggies - roasted veggies which were so bomb and a side of pickled veggies which were just okay for me. Parking in front of the restaurant is not the most convenient since you have to reverse into traffic. But I noticed that there is a sign pointing to parking in back which may be easier. I didn't catch the best glimpse of the inside decor since I merely walked in and out. But from what I did see, the inside looked cute and quirky. The exterior store could be cuter. Regardless, I'd love to come back and try something else for a sit down meal. read more

This restaurant is within walking distance from my home. I pass by it everyday and everyday Im tempted, and for good reason. I've had the pho and just recently the fish tumeric plate. The pho was on par with other phos Ive had and not too fussy. With the tumeric dish, I died at how every morself of the fish and rice were bursting with flavor. They also put a side of roast veggies and a side of pickled veggies and those addtions complete the meal in the best way! All for $10. The vibe is clean and quaint. I used to live in San Francisco, which has some of the best Asian food in the world, so I'm always somewhat skeptical of Austin Yelp reviews -- but this is for real. I love this place so much. The food is consistently good, the owner is nice, and the atmosphere is great whenever we eat in. My favorites are the turmeric fish box (thee best fish), the Vietnamese coffee, and the yogurt. Used to go at least once a week when we lived in the area, still go at least twice a month since we've moved. Highly recommend! read more

Was looking on yelp and found this place close by my hotel since I was visiting from out of town. I wanted some banh mi, some good authentic ones. So this place is pretty small and you can easily miss it, I think it had like 3 parking space in front of their store, the other is for the other shop. Ok so now onto the food, ordered the lemon grass beef banh mi ($8) and the tumaric fish plate ($10) and also the pork belly steam bun ($4). Ok pork bun: meat was kinda dry, wasn't really like a real pork belly that is fatty, yeah that fatty pork belly like how the Japanese restaurant have, the bun was not hot, it was cold! Tumaric fish with vegi: fish had the flavor good but fish was cold, rice was dry n not hot at all, could've been great it it was hot, presentation looks good but sadly it was cold. Last one, the banh mi, pretty expensive for a banh mi at $8 but what did I expect, this place is not actually a real authentic Vietnamese place, bread was ok, again not hot but room temp, was a little crispy but could've been better, the beef was pretty good but again, not hot. Overall I will pass when I come visit Austin again. Also.. inside store the ac was blasting cold!! And food came out so fast.. maybe too fast for it to be fresh.. idk just my thought. read more

I'm giving 4 stars because food had mixed feelings for me. I got the lemon grass beef rice box and it was completely not what i expected and didn't taste very good. It may be my fault because i was expected the charbroiled lemon grass beef you get at pho restaurants. But no it actually made my stomach hurt a little bit. However we got the tots and pork belly bun and they were very good! i feel like maybe i should have ordered the pork belly banh mi instead or just ate more buns. Vegetarian should rejoice because heo eatery does AMAZING vegetables, the vegetables which included cauliflower, brussel sprouts, and carrots were so delicious. Imagine beautifully browned and charred edges coming out of the oven with a perfect roast. I'm a huge fan and that's why although i did not enjoy my entree i gave 4 stars because i will be back. I have made 2 attempts to go back but every time they were closed for a break or i couldn't find parking in their tiny lot. read more

Limited menu , but each dish is amazing. The turmeric fish and the fermented pork sausages are a must try and so is the beef bao. They have a limited staff and can get overwhelmed by a large crowd. One gripe is that they close shop earlier than posted. We once went at 8.40pm assuming they close at 9 and they had already wrapped up everything. Some other reviews indicate the same and hopefully management does something about it. The food deserves 5 star though. read more

Coming from California for a vacation and tried this place out since it's near our hotel. Super cute place. Food was delicious. Service was awesome. Highly recommend and will definitely come back. I've eaten here a total of three times. I don't consider myself a picky eater. Pretty much open to all new experiences. My favorite thing about Heo Eatery is the side veggies because I want to feel like I'm eating something healthy when I'm eating out. Most entrees here are priced near $10 which is pretty much the standard nowadays for lunch in Austin. The food here doesn't seem greasy or too sweet which is typical of Asian foods made to non-Asian American palette. Pros: clean restroom, simple menu, and good VNese yogurt. Cons: small parking area, food tray liner paper rips easily on contact with liquid, pre-tipping before food service which I always hated (seems like another form of sales tax but to the benefit of the owner). Let's hope Heo expands it menu because it's worth a visit. read more

I got their turmeric fish box and the fish and roasted vegetables were so fresh. The host was very friendly and explained all the dishes to us. I dont like Asian food in general but had to go there because of peer pressure as all my friends are Asians. But I am so glad I did. I also tried their matcha almond tea which was the BOMB. This is my second time visiting and had to give them 5 stars! The price point and quality are great. I went with friends the first time and everyone's food came out promptly and was very yummy. I have had the pork belly bao(steam bun) and pork belly banh mi. Best banh mi I've had in Austin for sure. Cute little place and friendly, welcoming environment. Cute hole-in-the-wall on N Lamar. The turmeric fish rice plate was fantastic, it included some really tasty roast veggies and a little salad of pickled stuff. Good place in Asian place. If you're looking for a good place to eat, you don't have to go far. It's like a combination of Vietnamese and fusion so it's good to try something different. The fish spring roll is great, but also terrible nose. Quality ingredients, coffee and fresh, felt under the weather and this is the place for me. Fried Pho is probably my favorite dish, right there. My only knock is the lack of crispy noodles that could have been, but I don't regret it. The curry noodles were also very good, never had them before. I found this Heo restaurant online while searching for Vietnamese food the name sound so ridiculous to me because it means : Ugly, greedy, stupid, fat pig who would name themselves like this?? I wonder who come up with such name so I call them for reservations the lady answer the phone doesn't speak Vietnamese :)) but they post many pictures of good Vietnamese dish that make me more curious so I droves there. Had lunch at Heo's yesterday & we all thought it was excellent. Best pork belly bao, tender & delicious! Tried the spicy chicken skewers & they were just right, not too spicy. Also got the turmeric fish box with the grilled vegetables & garlic sticky rice. Fish was melt in your mouth & seasoned to perfection. Carrots & squash were flavorful & best I've had at any restaurant. Not a fan of beets, though, which were a bit too earthy for this combo, in my opinion. Cottage fries and mayo-ey sauce we bomb. They are like pimped out hashbrowns. Pho was pho-nominal! Get it. Loved the cutie yogurt dessert. It made my belly, heart, and soul happy. Would recommend for lunch, or something light before going adventuring in the city, but there are some seriously filling options if you should so choose. Great experience today. This is our first time and we ordered them Togo. Big size food, nice combination between authentic and contemporary Vietnamese food. I love good milk tea and they has it, wish they will have tapioca next time though :). We also got 2 packages of frozen Vietnamese yogurt just like back home when we were young.
