I used to get this delivered from their old location and it was really good. Went to the new restaurant for the first time today and it was still really good! Note that even though the restaurant was called Heo Eatery it is inside Bun Belly, so if you see Bun Belly then you are in the right place! We got the Pork Belly Baos and the Chicken & Egg with Rice Plate. The service was quick, restaurant was clean and modern, and food was still excellent! Would definitely come here again, I also really like the Pork Rib Rice Plate and will be getting that when I come again next

Today I waited 30 minutes for a pick up order after showing up later than the estimated pick up time. I ordered 2 banhmi sandwiches. While I waited I saw over a dozen plates of food come out. Finally after waiting for 20 minutes I asked about the food, they told me 2 more minutes. 10 minutes later, they finally brought out my two sandwiches. Some of the worst service Ive had to deal with during a pick up order. However, the Banhmi deal was very good and the sandwich was bussin. Would probably just dine in next time.

They are currently located in the bun belly restaurant and offer to go meals only as far as I can tell. This worked out well for me because I really just wanted to takeout a vermicelli bowl. Ordering online was a breeze and only took about 20 min to be ready. I didn't intend to buy the pork belly bun, but am glad i impulsively did so. The pork was perfectly cooked and flavored, and went well with the other fillings. The vermicelli beef bowl was delicious and substantial for a reasonable price. They didn't back off on the flavoring, which I feel like sometimes happens at other locations. Overall definitely would recommend you try them out if you're in search of some refreshing Vietnamese food!

Ordered through Lunchdrop and requested no jalapeños on the order. My dish came with jalapeños but I was hungry trying to eat before a meeting, so I was diligently removing them and came across a large/long piece of HAIR!! Called the restaurant and the owner at first denied it and I said I have a picture of the hair and the jalapeños and requested a refund. He said that Lunchdrop would have to resolve that or he could provide me with credit there. I won't be eating there again, especially if at first you rudely deny my claims and then just brush me off to figure it out on my own. It was the restaurants fault that my food was not edible though!! Absolutely disgusting!! Only 1 star bc no stars is not an option!!

Food is fine. But service is slow as duck. Don't get me wrong, I get used to and love the authentic Vietnamese restaurant. Meaning I am totally fine almost love seeing grumpy waiters, but here is just different, you will see people waking in in the front and just been ignored for like 5min. Same with to go order. I understand there is staff shortage but the surrounding restaurants aren't like this. I been giving this places 3 chances, won't coming back. The new location sucks. Ordered a Vietnamese coffee for pick up and they had it ready for me behind the counter once I got there. They added ice and handed it to me once I got there. And this is what I got. If your gonna pay $5 for a coffee at least fill it up to the top.

This small establishment is a lot livelier and memorable on the interior that what initially meets the eye. The shop owner was so friendly, eagerly explaining all the items on the menu, cracking jokes while serving food, and practively offering to take our trays away when we finished. This degree of customer service is a rarity itself. The beef pho is a giant bowl of deliciousness. I always like my beef a little rarer to showcase extra freshness and this place delivered. The broth also packs a rich flavor. For drinks, the Vietnamese coffee is a good one and though the peach mojito didn't taste as minty as I expected, it was still refreshing. A wonderful hole in the wall that I recommend to anyone around the area. For UT students, it's just a short bus trip away!

I got the beef rice bowl to go. The order was ready on time and pick up is inside of Bun Belly. I would say I overall, the flavor of the beef and rice was really good. I was disappointed however, in the quality of the beef. Many of the pieces were more fat than beef and some pieces were all fat. I ended up not eating about a quarter of the meat. The vegetables were also soaked in butter, which I'm also not a fan of, especially as part of an Asian dish. I don't think the flavors go well together and the amount of butter was uncomfortable for me. I really wanted to like this place, but unfortunately I don't think I'll be going back.

We just dined here and hope to be back again! We ordered the Lemongrass Beef Rice Box, Turmeric Fish Rice Box, and beef pho. Everything was fresh and tasty with the garlic rice and veggies that accompany the rice boxes being the star of the show. I think the fish was better than the beef. Here's what I think they could do to improve (it's almost perfect!) Offer a small size of pho (for kids) or something small/kid size because the plates are large and some kids may not want to share with their family. None of their food is such that the quantity can not be reduced for a smaller portion. Having some scissors to cut the noodles would be great too (like Vietnamese Restaurants usually have) but this is certainly not a deal breaker. I had to share a bowl of pho with my 3 year old and he couldn't eat the noodles and was gagging trying to get them down. I can see why this place has such great reviews.

I love Vietnamese food and have had a ton of great Vietnamese food here in Austin. This is definitely on my list of top places, but it could use a little work. While I got a lot of pork and the flavor on it was excellent, a lot of it was just fat unfortunately. Also the veggies had some pretty great flavors, more intense than other vermicelli bowls I've had before but I really would have loved more veggies. They should include an option when ordering online to add extra veggies!!

Heo is nothing outstanding. Not too bad nor good either. The interior is cute with all the Vietnamese food paintings on the wall. The parking is atrocious though. I had their pho. It was okay. I have a feeling that their bowl was big, but the food portions itself weren't very large. I would rather go have Vietnamese food where the older Vietnamese people at Austin actually go to. The parking was horrible. Heo is located at a super busy part of Austin close to Lamar. You cannot get out of the parking spaces at Heo without directly backing out onto Lamar. If cars are coming, which cars always are, then you'll have to rely on the generosity of someone else on the road to let you go. If you can, park somewhere else rather than the parking designated for Heo.

Really enjoyed coming by for some so food to heal me on a rainy day! You order at the back and then sit yourself down, there's a condiment bar with sriracha and hoisin and napkins and utensils (they give you spoons if needed when your food comes out) Very quick service (food came out in like 5 min) and the man up front was friendly! Also they came over and clean up for you when you leave. The pho comes in a 40oz bowl but there aren't enough noodles to make it really "large" or shareable, I would say it's definitely just one serving. Fortunately for me, I only wanted a little bit of the broth and maybe a few bites so I stole from my friend. The beef inside was VERY delicious, very juicy and soft. I also got a pork belly bao and THAT was also juicy and soft. Probably one of the best pork belly Bao's I have ever had! Good size meat as well. Melted in my mouth. The pork sausage that comes in 3s on a stick was also really good! Wish there had been more sauce because it was on the saltier side but I still liked the flavor. Lastly, the fries. And the sauce was some kind of honey mustard type orange sauce but it was so good! Like tater tots but maybe a little crispier. The sauce really makes it amazing.

Stopped by here for dinner. It was a bit suspicious because when I walked in there was nobody inside but the owner soon walked in and took my order. I got the Pork Belly Banh Mi. It came with tater tots that were flattened and tasted so much better than regular tater tots. They also gave spicy Mayo on the side. The Banh Mi was really good. The pork belly was very soft and melted in your mouth. It also came with a very sweet and delicious sauce on top. Overall, very satisfying, worth it, and delicious! Will definitely come back again :)

Holy crap, this place is incredible. I tried it on a whim a few weeks ago. I was too lazy to cook but was tired of all the same old places I usually go in my neighborhood. This place popped up online and looked decent so I figured I'd try it out. Wow! I tried the pork belly bao and the chicken rice box. The amount is flavor in everything is incredible! The rice, the chicken, everything is perfection. It comes with delicious roasted veggies and a small side of pickled veggies, which contrasts well will the spicy and savory from the chicken and rice. I went back again today and tried the turmeric fish, and I liked it even more! Go there quick. The location is notorious for businesses that don't stay open long, so keep them in business! read more

Our foodie friend told us about this place so we knew we had to try it. We came on a Sunday for lunch and did not have to wait to order. After quickly browsing the menu, we decided to try the Turmeric Fish Rice Box, Lemongrass Beef Rice Box, and Cottage Fries. The atmosphere of this place is very cool, complete with homemade murals on the walls and a menu written on wooden planks. Really just a great place to chill and enjoy some yummy noms. Seating is limited however for only about 20-25 people. This place can be a little difficult to find as it is located in a small corner, but just look for the metal sign with a pig if you're having trouble. Parking is available behind the restaurant since restaurant-front parking is very limited. Our food was ready in about 10 minutes, and smelled absolutely delicious! Both rice boxes came with a side of pickled veggies and assorted roasted veggies. Portion size was quite large, and my husband and I were very full sharing the 2 main dishes. The pickled veggies were just right, not too acidic but still flavorful. The roasted veggies were nicely grilled, seasoned, and paired well with the meats. The Lemongrass Beef was well seasoned, with strong flavors that came through with each bite. The real star however, was the Turmeric Fish, which was very well seasoned and moist. The pieces almost melt in your mouth, with hints of Southeast Asian flavors that combine sweet/sour/salty perfectly. When eaten with the garlic rice, it was heavenly! As for the cottage fries, note that they are tater tots and not fries. They were very crispy and perfectly fried but we were slightly disappointed that they were different than expected. Overall, we were quite satisfied and are definitely coming back for some more Turmeric Fish goodness! read more

Delicious! I've been here before and got the Duck Bahn Mi and it was delicious, so I decided to go again a few days ago and tried the Rib rice box. One word: amazing. Fall off the bone delicious. Probably some of the best ribs I've had. Also got a steam bao bun with pork belly and that was delicious as well. I would recommend. Parking is difficult though. read more

I came in a little skeptical because was pleasantly surprised about how good it was! My family had the turmeric fish banh mi, pork belly banh mi, and grilled chicken confit rice bowl and we loved everything! The banh mi had fresh ingredients and comes with tater tots. The rice plates had a delicious ginger rice and tasty roasted vegetables. I would definitely come back again! I would've given this place 5 stars as I really loved the food, but I had to take away a star for not being family friendly - they didn't have a changing table in their bathrooms, which makes it difficult for families with babies. read more

This place is fantastic!!! My husband and I just stopped there for dinner, as it's in our neighborhood, and we were blown away. We got the chicken bao (delicious), the lemongrass beef banh mi (delicious), and the pork belly banh mi (delicious). Both banh mi sandwiches came with cottage fries, which are basically smashed down tater tots. They are so, so tasty. It was pretty empty while we were there-- not unusual for a Monday night, but if you're reading this, please go!!! We want this place to stay around. FYI: you can order food to go. We ate in the restaurant, but we saw a man come in and pick up his order. read more

This place is legit. Best banh mi in Austin. It's light and crunches so beautifully when you bite it (music to our ears!!) The most important part of a banh mi is the bread and this place nailed it and is comparable to the ones in Vietnam. I had the turmeric fish plate and it was excellent as well. The rice was very flavorful and went to well with the sweet chili fish. If you like Asian flavors or banh mis, this place is not to be missed! Will try the pho next time which I hear is wonderful as well. read more

Let me start out by stating that this place is a fusion Vietnamese restaurant. It is not authentic Vietnamese food by any measurement. They are a little confused actually. The theme is off with everything, from design and architecture to the food options. Is the banh mi really banh mi? Looks like it, but didn't taste like it. The rice box is Vietnamese with an inferior Japanese twist? The Jalapeno peppers weren't cut proportionately (like a thin long slice to line up your foot-long banh mi), so a single bite can take off a gigantic (or the entire) piece of pepper. This place is probably good if compared to the average fusion Austinite fusion food joints. Overpriced, weird fusion twist, and catered to a new crowd of people being exposed to "exotic" foods for the first time. You'd like it if you lived in Waco, Georgetown, Buda or Hutto all your life and you recently moved to "big city" Austin, getting your first exposure to Vietnamese food. The food and service is simply fusion fast food, but the pricing is 3x that of traditional Vietnamese dining. The tater tots (yeah...) tasted like McDonalds breakfast tots. Some bright spots. The place was new and squeaky clean. The pork belly buns were pretty good! I would give this a 2.5 stars, but i'm rounding up to 3 since they gave us free bagged yogurts. read more

First time trying out this place. My wife and I ordered the pork rib rice box and it was delicious! Rice is cooked so well and seasoned with the right amount of garlic, meat was tender and well seasoned as well. Only downfall on this meal was that the meat came out cold. The banh bao was not good whatsoever, I ordered the pork belly and the entire bao came out dry and cold, including the meat. I was so disappointed because it looked so good in the pictures. We spent $30 for 2 rice boxes and 2 banh bao... So my 3 stars is for the cold meat that could've been better prepared when ordered, the cold water pitcher that was completely out of water, and the lack of customer service, all of which could've earned them 5 stars if it was more accommodating in those departments. The rice box was tasty and I recommend trying it, but i would never try the bao again. read more

So so so so good. Just moved to Austin after being spoiled in San Francisco and Oakland for the past 16 years. Heo's had a simple menu that had fresh food that was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Pork bao melted in our mouth! The lemon grass beef, chicken confit and pork rib plates delicious. Roasted veggies were great as well as the tasty coconut rice. The beef pho was awesome and had amazing meat and tasty broth. The nicest treat was the homemade Vietnamese frozen yogurt. The food all tasted homemade and literally made me second miss the Bay Area that much less. Run don't walk to this place, it is for sure going to be a hot spot! read more

Confusing restaurant where the cooking is actually done at the restaurant next door. My spring rolls tasted like they had been prepared days earlier and the peanut sauce was the worst I've ever had. The sandwich was served with disgusting tater tots, like idk how they can make tater tots taste awful and I don't understand why they include them in the first place. The sandwich bread was also not fresh. Hugely disappointing food until I had the bao...wow! So good, but seriously it's the only thing they were able to prepare properly. Spring Rolls? 1/5, Sandwich? 3/5, Bao? 5/5. Overall, I kind of feel ripped off by overpriced mediocre food, but it was all edible and at least I'm full. read more

The menu really doesn't have many options... the food is mediocre at best! I was totally unaware that Tator tots was a delicacy in any other place besides a daycare there are far better places to get your food. The menu surely needs to be updated to include a better selection. read more

I got the rice box with fish. The portion given was what should be expected for ~ $10. The fish was was cooked to perfection and the flavoring was great. I got a basic rice plate, but the most surprising thing about the food was the presence of flavor. The steam vegetables had a nice subtle flavor and the even the rice had some. The owner is really nice and fun to talk to. I am coming back soon read more

I honestly didn't know if all the five star reviews were true and now that I've finally tried it, I can say this place is bona fide 5 stars. We tried two rice boxes and were delighted by the pickled veggies, roasted beets and squash, and the flavorful rice and protein. The portion was larger than the pictures on yelp convey, which was a pleasant surprise. I hope this place is here to stay because I'll be coming back. I plan on trying everything on the menu! read more

What a great little gem hidden amongst all the growth on S. Lamar! I took my 2 kids here for a late lunch not knowing what to expect. We ordered the tumeric fish, rice and grilled veggie tray, grilled pork on a stick, beef pho and traditional vnmese iced coffee. All very delicious. My kids are picky eaters and accustomed to eating fantastic, authentic vnmese cooking every day made by grandma. They love this place and want to come back for dinner. The concept is cute. Great vnmese food served in modern style that is nice, clean, happy place. Driving in, I was a little afraid because it looked small and dark. What a sweet surprise. Heo, yeah, love it! This place is INSANE! Try the turmeric fish, bao, my husband loves the ribs, and they even have vegetarian options that look amazing. I am definitely giving five stars because everything has been incredible all three times I've been, and the service is fast and authentically good people. Oh, and the boba (bubble teas) are great. Becca made my first time experience here wonderful! I got the pork belly bao, which was perfectly seared, the fat had a gorgeous color and texture. After, I tried the duck banh mi which was awesome! She checked on us at all the right times without ever making us feel rushed, and her recommendations were spot on. She suggested the Gulf Snapper Aguachile as an appetizer, and it was fantastic. The tabletop sizzling fajitas are always a must, and the steak arrachera is easily one of the best things on the menu. Great food, outstanding service, and another memorable experience. My wife and I shared the Brunch Fajita Platter. It was a solid amount of food for the two of us, easily shareable. I even added on a lamb chop! The platter came with eggs, potatoes, fajita, queso, onions and peppers, rice and beans. We ultimately wound up having leftovers! Their fajita beef is so tender, you literally cannot go wrong with it!

The onion pancakes were amazing. And the special noodle with garlic pork was nothing I've had before but so so so good. And the portion was huge. We shared the onion pancakes amongst the 4 of us. And then the other two dishes with me and my fiance and we had leftovers. I want to come back here and try the pig's feet and orange chicken. Also, food comes out immediately, so you know it was just sitting in the kitchen premade. Oh, also extremely overpriced! So yeah, the high reviews for this place make no sense. Go figure!

Good place in Asian place. If you're looking for a good place to eat, you don't have to go far. It's like a combination of Vietnamese and fusion so it's good to try something different. The fish spring roll is great, but also terrible nose. Quality ingredients, coffee and fresh, felt under the weather and this is the place for me. Fried Pho is probably my favorite dish, right there. My only knock is the lack of crispy noodles that could have been, but I don't regret it. The curry noodles were also very good, never had them before. The broth reminded me of Tam Yum soup, it's good. Prices are a bit high, but everywhere. Honestly, it's not quite 4 stars but it's pretty close, let you be the judge and try it yourself. read more

I found this Heo restaurant online while searching for Vietnamese food the name sound so ridiculous to me because it means : Ugly, greedy, stupid, fat pig who would name themselves like this?? I wonder who come up with such name so I call them for reservations the lady answer the phone doesn't speak Vietnamese :)) but they post many pictures of good Vietnamese dish that make me more curious so I droves there. I was disappointed when arrived there is only one parking space for the whole restaurant only few item post on the wall it is not what I expected I hope they can do better in the future Good luck TV read more

Had lunch at Heo's yesterday & we all thought it was excellent. Best pork belly bao, tender & delicious! Tried the spicy chicken skewers & they were just right, not too spicy. Also got the turmeric fish box with the grilled vegetables & garlic sticky rice. Fish was melt in your mouth & seasoned to perfection. Carrots & squash were flavorful & best I've had at any restaurant. Not a fan of beets, though, which were a bit too earthy for this combo, in my opinion. Flavors in the garlic sticky rice were very subtle compared to everything else. Enjoyed our lunch immensely & will definitely be going back - soon! read more

The pork belly bahn mi was perfectly cooked, complete with crusty bread and all the right sauces. The beef bun was spicy and obviously cooked with immense care to get to its pleasurable state. Cottage fries and mayo-ey sauce we bomb. They are like pimped out hashbrowns. Pho was pho-nominal! Get it. Loved the cutie yogurt dessert. It made my belly, heart, and soul happy. Don't skip on in house teas (hint: ginger lemongrass is the winner). Overall, go there. It's delicious, quirky, and a true gem! read more

I really wish this place was bigger, but wow! GREAT food, REALLY clean establishment, and just a feeling of good times when you walk in the front door. Would recommend for lunch, or something light before going adventuring in the city, but there are some seriously filling options if you should so choose. I got a pork-bun-style wrap thing, and it was fantastic. Instapark or Uber in so you don't have to worry about parking. read more

I found this place through Yelp and I loved it! We ordered the lemongrass Banh Mi, pork belly Bao, and the Rib Rice plate special. The food was a great fusion of Vietnamese and American food. I could see myself coming here often for a quick lunch bite. The customer service was absolutely wonderful. He answered all of our questions and even gave us free frozen yogurt for coming here for the first time! read more

Great experience today. This is our first time and we ordered them Togo. Big size food, nice combination between authentic and contemporary Vietnamese food. I love good milk tea and they has it, wish they will have tapioca next time though :). We also got 2 packages of frozen Vietnamese yogurt just like back home when we were young. So there you have it, we definitely will come back for more. read more

Take-out some food there and it was a great service. They make sure the food well-packaged. I sometimes dropped there for snacks and usually get there Pork belly bao and Duck confit banh mi. It tastes so good and they have a good quality of food. Authentic Vietnamese sandwiches. The restaurant was a good visit and has a cozy ambiance. For my first time here, I had the Lemongrass Beef Rice Box and Fish Banh Mi. The vegetables with the rice box were amazing-- I'm usually not too big on vegetables but these were delicious. The rice was really good too, better than average. I didn't think there was anything special about the Fish Banh Mi but I would definitely consider coming back! read more

Quick service cafe serving an Americanized VietNamese menu. Had the beef and lemongrass rice box, presentation was good. The taste and flavor of fish sauce, onion, lemongrass and pepper have been muted to a point that it was bland. Nice for a quick visit. read more
