They were out of cha luo for the Bun Bo Hue but overall pretty good and not too spicy. Definitely a great choice post drinking the night before. Vietnamese coffee is strong and somehow the styrofoam cup keeps ice cold for a ridiculously long time. Plenty of seating at 11 am on Sunday. They also are in a strip with a decent amount of parking. Fast service.

This place us ridiculous. I am being blocked in by a delivery truck.. saying it will take 20 to 30 minutes before he gets done unloading. There are no signs saying where I parked is for restaurant only. There are many businesses here. I asked nicely, as he pulled up to see if he could let me out. He said this parking is for the restaurant only and I am making his delivery hard. He would not move for me to back out. Again. There are no signs stating this anywhere.

Broth was watered down, and protein portions was disappointing. There was whiffs of star anise, and msg, and not much else.

Best rice plate I've ever had! I've been eating it for over 10 years and the quality has remained the same. The meat is tender and flavorful, the rice is broken like how it's traditionally done (quite rare to find), and it even comes with a flavorful soup on the side. Beware that they may give less meat when you order takeout. I would definitely recommend the rice plates over the pho, unless you're really craving it. I think there's better pho spots in town nowadays, but this rice plate is the real deal. I seriously haven't found anything better, even after living in SF for a few years. The service is just alright, but I personally don't care too much about that. It's one of the staples in my family's rotation for good reason!

Craving comfort food? Pho Dan hits the spot with its authentic Vietnamese flavors, cozy vibes, and menu full of classics like pho, spring rolls, and banh mi. Vegan-friendly and perfect for group hangs or solo slurps. My fave? The pork chop with fried egg -- chef's kiss! A must-visit in Austin!

Very clean - up scale Pho. Menu is diverse and special requests are met well. For example fried egg on top. Prices are moderate and the food good. Parking is good but can get tight at times.

Very blah The good - friendly staff, big clean and efficient environs, and easy parking The bad - the food is very blah. It isn't bad mind you, just no there there, kothing that makes you want to go back Which is sad, cos this used to be some of the best pho in town...

I love coming to Pho Dan whenever I'm trying to eat with a bigger group because the seating is just so accommodating which is already a big plus. Another plus being the dishes are all both decently sized and priced. And I just love how there are so many different pho options so it's easy to find the perfect combination of meats for each person. The pho is always good, with flavorful broth and a good amount of meat. But I really want to highlight the pork vermicelli bowls! The meat has a really nice smoky lemongrass flavor, the egg roll is so fat and crispy, and the dish as a whole is pretty filling.

We haven't been here in a while. The food is still delicious. I had the #2 pho and spring rolls. Both are still really tasty. The service is lacking from what I remember. We had to ask for water twice. The server had that deer in the headlights look when asking for water. The ambiance is lacking too.

Went there for the first time. I had the egg rolls and the extra large #3. It was excellent. Definitely worth another visit!

I had my boyfriend pick up the food and he forgot to check for the hoisin sauce. I can't eat pho without it, so I called the store and was told it was offered but that he must not have heard the employee asking. I tried to eat the pho anyway, and it ended up being one of the worst bowls of pho I've ever had. I'm Vietnamese, so I know what good pho should taste like. The broth was extremely bland and watered down, with no aroma or real pho flavor. Without hoisin sauce it was even worse. I tried adding seasoning to make it taste decent but nothing helped. The noodles were also hard and clumped together in one big chunk. I had to microwave them for about three minutes just to get them to separate. In the end, I gave up and threw away our 2 -$18 bowl of pho. The broth tasted worse than instant pho. Very disappointing. I should have known better than to order pho downtown.

The color wasn't too light, so I appreciated that they didn't go heavy on the condensed milk. Summer Rolls/Nem Nuong Cuon ($11): These were underwhelming, pretty bland without the peanut sauce, which I thought was just okay as well. OG Banh Mi ($14): Delicious! It was one of our top two banh mi here, along with the lamb one. The bread was nicely toasted, the pâté came through, and all the flavors were on point. Garlic Butter Prawn Bún ($18): The shrimp were perfectly cooked, though the garlic butter flavor wasn't very strong. The vermicelli and veggies were so fresh and tasty together with the nuoc mam that I was able to eat the leftovers without any protein. Curry Ramen ($16): This was our first time trying curry ramen, so we didn't know what to expect. You got to choose your protein, so we went with chashu. The curry had flavors similar to oc len xa dua and was pretty good, and the ramen itself had a great texture. I still prefer regular ramen but would still recommend trying this at least once.

But it also has egg and scallions and pate; overall the combo is satisfying. Separate from takeout, we decided to go for an early dinner. Their Crab Vermicelli Stir Fry is surprisingly sweet, with sweetness as a prominent flavor. It features plenty of crab bits. I also grabbed a Skillet Combo. It came with two runny side up eggs, pate, two types of cured pork, beef gravy, and a handful of cilantro. The baguette came on the side, as did the mixed salad of lettuce and tomato. The salad had some dried shrimp, fish sauce, and a slightly sweet dressing. The restaurant itself is located in the Chinatown Center on N Lamar. It's a small corner shop. Lots of mirrors and glass. The staff are friendly enough. Unfortunately, they've closed, and it looks like another restaurant will be opening up in its place. The situation leaves me unsure about where to go to satisfy savory sticky rice cravings.

This place is legit when you see that it is full of local Viet on a Sunday afternoon!…read more The menu is pretty good with authentic Vietnamese food but we normally come here for the S1 Ribeye Hot Stone Pho. They bring out the meat and noodles separately and then the soup in the stone bowl. This time the asked me if I wanted all the greens-- lime wedges, basil leaves, jalapeño slices and bean sprouts. I never eat the bean spouts but use everything else and it always seems a waste of bean sprouts when I don't use them so I was thankful to have them hold the bean sprouts. Be careful as the soup is extremely hot and the hot stone bowl keeps it that way for a while. You fill the bowl to the brim after adding all the meats and noodles. My only complaint is the noodles. They are fresh and just the right texture... very good! But for some reason the always seem to get cut up after I put them into the bowl. Not sure if they cut them before hand but they end up cut short when put them in the bowI. I prefer long slurpy noodles over cut noodles that's hard to pick up with chopsticks. Overall I still give it 5 stars and this one of the two best pho spots in the greater Austin area
