Super cute cafe with beautiful strawberry flavors mixed in with their drinks! The items are pricier than a normal cafe but it is expected with the iconic character being the theme of the cafe. We waited in line to order for about 20 minutes and it was around noon time on a Saturday. After you order, you then stand at the back to wait for your order to be called. The cashier answered our questions and was thorough in making sure our order was right; which probably contributed to the slightly long wait in line. We were told the apple pie we ordered would be an additional 20 minute wait, but we still ordered it because it would at least be fresh. We also got the strawberry milk (heavenly! the taste is still something I want more of!) and the strawberry smoothie. My partner loved the smoothie! We got our drinks 5 minutes later and surprisingly the apple pie was ready and included in our order! It was warm, fluffy and AMAZING!! Unfortunately, the sugar cookie we ordered also was super hard and tough to eat. I'm generally a fan of sugar cookies despite popular consensus, but this cookie was indeed very disappointing. I didn't eat more than a couple bites. All in all, depending on what time you come line up in and what you order it seems will be a deciding factor. I believe this is worth a visit at least once and do not skip on the drinks because they are made very well!! P.S Extra reservation is needed for the inside interior of the cafe in advance. If you refresh the reservation website you might be able to snag an earlier reservation if someone cancels theirs. Pastries weren't good. Interior was Hello Kitty everything even the restroom. The Bow Room at Hello Kitty Cafe is a must-visit for any true Sanrio or Hello Kitty fan! Reservations are highly recommended, someone will come out right at your scheduled time to greet you and check you in. Before you enter, the staff will check your IDs and kindly explain the house rules: there's a one drink minimum (cocktail or mocktail) and a strict 1 hour and 15 minute time limit to keep everything running smoothly. Around halfway through, they'll check in to take any final orders--but keep in mind, due to staffing, you may only have time to enjoy one or two drinks. This is a cocktail experience, not a lounge to hang out for hours, so be mindful of the time limit. They used to offer complimentary corn nuts but we were informed they stopped offering that. :( That said, every single drink I've had here has been delicious and beautifully presented! The staff is incredibly sweet and friendly--they've even remembered me after a few visits, which is such a nice touch. If you're under 21 or bringing kids, the Bow Room offers a High Tea experience before 5pm for about $60. It includes a super cute teapot and a set of yummy desserts. We opted to swap the teapot for lemonade for my 6-year-old niece, and both of us left full and happy. Note: 18% tip is automatically included for both experiences. I made reservations well in advance to secure space for a party of our size (6) for afternoon tea in The Bow Room, which is limited in space and seating. There is also a little shop and cafe out front if you just want to order and pick up some treats, drinks, or merch. The Bow Room was a cute and intimate all-pink room with gold accents, outfitted with pink velour plush seating. As you would expect, everything is Hello Kitty-themed from the pink sugar cubes to the plateware and Hello Kitty designs in all the desserts. The afternoon tea service was $60 per person, which included your individual tea or drink choice, a glass of fresh strawberries + chocolate creme, and three tiers of savories and sweets. Such a cute concept and experience. The tea time is definitely the thing to do. My daughter is a Hello Kitty fanatic so we had to do this while in town for her 18th birthday. Reservations are a must and about 1 month in advance, this place books up pretty quickly. They have the option of afternoon tea(10-3:30 depending on the day) or cocktail (5pm and later). I highly recommend the afternoon tea $60 for a tea of your choice( hot or cold) a platter of sweets and savory foods. Almost all foods are in the shape of hello kitty and friends. The line was long on a random Thursday afternoon around 4:30pm, and it was slow moving. I think I was in line for about 45 minutes. There is no seating inside the cafe, but there are some public tables outside where you can sit and eat if desired. There is a big Astroturf lawn (with some lawn chairs and benches) in front of it as well, which is nice for kids to play and run around in while you're waiting in line. My friend wanted to visit the tea room (bow room) for her birthday. I made a reservation 3 months in advance and managed to book the date/time I wanted. I received a text reminder about this reservation too. On the day off, I parked at the parking garage and walked over. Upon entering the store, I immediately purchased the tumbler I wanted because I heard the lines are usually long. I came before noon and it was still pretty empty at that time. If you made a reservation for the tea room, just wait around the white door and a server will come out to get you exactly at your reservation time. I had a table of 4 in my party and was seated right away. The tea room is cute and everything is pink! I made sure not to wear pink so I won't blend into the room. The tea room does not substitute any item and they made sure to let me know when I booked it. I must say besides this experience being cute, the food did not live up to other tea room experiences I've had. I like the savory tray (the bottom) and did not love the sweets (first two trays on top). The amount of food is too little. Other tables have children and I do think that this portion is meant for them rather than for adults. As for the tea selection, it was bland and I did not taste the pomegranate green tea at all. I actually regret adding the HK sugar cube into my tea. The desserts already too sweet and my drink is now sweet too. I did purchased a cocktail that comes with a photo that you can take home. The server asked us to stand next to each other and took the photo. It came out really nice and it is a lovely souvenir to take home. The Cutest birthday surprise breakfast ever! I absolutely loved my birthday celebration and Hello Kitty Cafe was the loveliest way to start the day. We had a reservation for 10:15 and arrived right on time! After a little bit of a wait outside the entry to the cafe, we were able to enter and take out seats inside. Can I just say, this was probably the cutest experience i've ever had?! The cafe was pink all over with a Gigantic Hello kitty bow in the back. Loved it! For eats, we had so many treats! Smoked salmon croissants, cucumber sandwiches, little cakes and so much more. We saved one of the tiny lemon meringues for our granny at home and she made sure to tell us it was absolutely delicious. I took my gf here on a weekend afternoon and the line was ridiculously long. I later realized that they only had one counter to take orders from. We got a dole whip which came with a cute gudetama sugar cookie. The dole whip tasted exactly the same as every other dole whip Ive gotten at various other locations. The gudetama cookie was a nice sugary crunch. I'm giving a 3 star because this is one of those "at least I've been here before" spots. The Hello Kitty Cafe is definitely a place to visit if you're a HK fan, it's vibrant, girly and just dang cute. The line is always long so make sure you have some patience especially if going with children. The service is always nice and done with a smile. As far as food options, they have pastries and beverage ranging from tea to hot chocolate. I would say prices are pretty fair given the theme of this place. I've had a few drinks from here and enjoyed them, as for the pastries, they are a little bit too on the sweet side for me. There are a few photo opportunities in the cafe so be on a look out. I had such a great time at Hello Kitty Grand Cafe's Afternoon Tea Service in the Bow room. Getting a reservation here especially on weekends is quite difficult but I finally got one. It's a bit pricey for what you get, but I came in knowing I wasn't going in for the food quality but for the world of Hello Kitty. It did not disappoint in that aspect at all with the pink hues, the kitty and bow decor, everything was just KAWAII ! I got the apple black tea, I usually go for a basic black tea but that sounded great and it was delightful. It doesn't come with milk/cream, so had to request, but it came with the cutest wad of hello kitty shaped sugar. Before you get the afternoon tray, they hand out a delicious chocolate mousse with strawberries. It wasn't even that rich and actually perfectly sweet. Really good, my friend thought it was her favorite tasting of the whole meal. Onto the tray ... At the bottom are the savories. Traditional english sandwich stuffings with a Kitty chan twist: Lox and cream cheese in a croissant. Egg salad in a little sugar cone. Cucumber and chive cream cheese on white bread kitty face no crust of course... and a pesto stuff tart with mozarella and a tomato (probably my least favorite). Next comes the middle. The scones served with jam, but unfortunately no clotted cream but I asked for butter, Pretty good scone, though wish it was hot or warm but beggars can't be choosers. At the very top are the sweets and sugars. Two petit fours shaped like Kitty chan and Keropi. Kitty was a hint of strawberry and Keropi was a bit lime I believe. The macarons were of raspberry power but were a bit stale, and then there were mini apple cobblers. Good service, they gave me a Kitty shopping bag when I was eyeballing one and a cup to take my leftover tea to go, and were kind enough to take pictures. Gratuity is included. For two people it was a $150 experience. They certainly make a killing here but it's well worth a visit if you're a Kitty or Kawaii fan! read more

For a Hello Kitty fan, yes, this place is super fun to visit! But other than crossing it off your bucket list, it's not anything to brag about. The food and drink is overpriced for the quality (it's the brand you're paying for), and so is the merch they sell. The desserts are bland, and mostly flavorless sugared icing. The cookies aren't typically made fresh (even in the morning sometimes!) and are hard. The sugar cookies in the set of 3 box are especially hard. The drinks are pretty standard. For boba lovers, the boba is popping boba-- not tapioca. So don't be disappointed! Also, BTW, this cafe is not like the one in Las Vegas-- they don't do full on meals (unless in the dining experience, and even then it's lacking). Inside teatime/dinner requires reservation in the inside dining room, but that food is not any better. Sometimes they take walk-ins, but the staff seems to be passive aggressive when you ask about it. Or at least they were when my friend and I went. When we did go inside, it honestly was nothing to brag about. You can get better tea at any tea house... literally anywhere. As the cafe is in the middle of Irvine Spectrum, it gets SUPER busy. Unfortunately there's not a really good line-up system made for this. So you can be waiting anytime from 5-30+ minutes. If you plan on dining in the bow room for their afternoon tea, you have to make reservations months in advance. I literally had to set a reminder on my phone 30+ days in advance to make sure I secured the date and time I wanted. Reservations are made through RESY app with a deposit required. Everything was decked out in hello kitty! From the tea pot, plates and even the sugar cube was shaped in HK! Our drinks were ordered as soon as we sat down and the hello kitty tower was brought out shortly after. They offer kid friendly (non-caffeinated) drinks in lieu of tea. The strawberry chocolate mousse was delicious! Silky, smooth and creamy. Soo heavenly good with the fresh sweet strawberries. The tower was filled with sweet tea cake desserts, tarts, croissants, quiche and sandwiches. We were also served a salmon croissant on the side. We were definitely stuffed and had extras to box up after. Nice that they were able to accommodate to my daughter's food allergy and switched out a few items that contained nuts. One of the oddest experiences of my life...and that's not even taking into account that I went in the middle of the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, but there we were, in the middle of a busy outdoor mall...wearing pink n95 masks...and sitting in the middle of the pinkest room I've ever been in. It's like a Sanrio Store in overdrive. Pink walls, chairs, and couches...the floors and tables were a sparking white. Red and pink bow motifs everywhere with flourishes of gold. There is a line out the door, but if you have a reservation for the bow room, you're let through the pink velvet rope like a VIP. For 75 dollars a person, we had high tea in such a unique setting...something from a 4 year old girl's tea party dreams. You get a surprisingly decent value for your dollar. The teas were delicious, quality, and there's a decent variety to choose from. The food was also surprisingly good and we got a decent assortment of foods you'd expect like pastries, finger sandwiches, canapés, and other treats, served on a hello kitty shaped stand. It's pre fixe and I don't believe you can make substitutions, but there's really no reason to unless you have dietary restrictions. Service was also very good with the staff being extra attentive. When you take the rose color glasses, the price of the meal still doesn't quite add up. Yeah, it's good, but you're mostly paying for the experience, which I guess at the end of the day is worth it if you love Hello Kitty or want the unique experience. Aside from the exclusive tea room, it's still a functional cafe and you can order things a la carte. They have all sorts of things like donuts and macarons. We got a sleeve of assorted macarons to go and they're delicious, but not quite to the level of a local patisserie. The box they come in was so cute and that's mostly why I got it. If you're a Hello Kitty lover, then you'll absolutely adore the Bow Room. They have an afternoon tea service and an evening cocktail service, both of which require reservations. My friend had her birthday here and reserved a 1.5 hour time slot on Saturday at 6 p.m. Let me tell you, they ask for a reservation for a reason. The line to order at the cafe was out the door, and that's not even for the Bow Room. I'm glad they offer mocktails because it turns out none of us actually ordered a real cocktail. Most of us got the Golden Apple: apple cider, ginger syrup, citrus, aquafaba. It's definitely on the sweet side for me but still very delicious, especially with the touch of ginger. Unfortunately, it's the same price as the regular cocktails which doesn't make sense because it doesn't have alcohol and the portion sizes are just as small. I would not recommend going here for mocktails unless you're okay with that because it's not worth it. I'm also not someone with a huge sweet tooth so I was looking for a savory treat but they didn't offer a single one unfortunately. However, the ambiance and decorations of the place were immaculate.
