Mediocre place at best. Had the onion rings for appetizer and it was probably the best thing we got. They are huge. The wedge salad does not come in wedges. It's nice they precut it but I actually like it in a wedge form. My steak salad with grains were boring. I didn't read the description clearly before ordering it. I hate couscous and quinoa so this is everything I don't want except for the steak. Being pregnant I have to eat well cooked steak so that's what I ordered and it came out medium rare. It was cooked perfectly if I wasn't pregnant so my husband send it back to the kitchen to sear it a little more. Meat was also ok. My husband chicken fried steak was bland. So I'm Super torn about writing my review. I have been eyeballing this restaurant for some time, and have been wanting to come here. My Husband made reservations and took me here for my Birthday dinner last night. The restaurant is Beautiful, It's really big the decor is soooo cute!! I loved the ambience of it. I was looking forward to a nice relaxing evening out...When our server came to our table we immediately felt rushed. She basically said are you ready to order, any questions about the menu? I would have liked to be asked if we would like to start off with drinks...instead she Said I'll give you a minute and left. when she came back she still didn't ask if we would like anything to drink. I had to ask her. We both ordered to Whiskey BBQ ribs, it came with mac and cheese and cornbread. The food was good. I think the server checked in us one time. She spent plenty of time at the table next to us lol. Never asked if we wanted refills on our drinks, when she did come back asked if I wanted a to go container and I once again I had to ask her for another cocktail. We got the feeling she didn't want to be there and just wanted us in and out. The service was not good at all. As much as I loved everything else about the restaurant, the service definitely does not make me want to come back with so many other options out there. Only 4 stars because I'm a vegetarian and can't rate the meat dishes. The Uptown location is swanky and the staff is wonderful. So different from the stuffy and uptight Frisco location. Came here with some friends tonight and fell in LOVE. This place has the cutest laid back upscale country vibe. The food was truly amazing, The ribs fell straight off the bone and the tacos had the perfect hint of spice. We got the chocolate whiskey cake for dessert and I got the rhinestone cowgirl cocktail, the cake and ice cream tasted so fresh and the cake had the perfect spiciness from the whiskey. The cocktail was strong but had a great flavor. The service was incredible! Our waiters name was Andy and he really went above and beyond. The owner Sean even came to our table to check on us. Haywire is absolutely BEAUTIFUL! Once you step through the door the ambiance just takes you over. They have two floors with seating and a top deck. The bar is located on the first floor. On the second floor, on your way to be seated, you can see them prepping and cooking the food. Both times I visited I ordered the chicken fried steak with mash and veggies. The steak is huge and the sides are a nice size as well. The steak was crunchy and flavorful and the sides were definitely made in house. The service has always been great and the staff were attentive to our needs. I would also try to make a reservation just in case of any delays. They do get pretty busy. We came with high expectations and it wasn't very good at all. It's a beautiful place. If you want to sit and have a conversation, don't have them seat you outside. We didn't have a choice and there was a concert outside and it was so loud. We ordered a couple of steaks, our teenagers got chicken fried steak and meatloaf and both didn't care for the meals. They said there wasn't much flavor. One daughter did say the whipped potatoes were really great and my other daughter loved the watermelon salad My wife and I thought the steaks had a weird taste to them and lacked flavor. Theres no salt and pepper on the table and it really needed salt. The Mac n cheese was amazing though. Unfortunately the service lacked too. Our waiter wasn't very attentive. We didn't get any refills and we only saw him when we ordered the food and when we got the ticket. Other folks were doing the rest of the gig. Loved this place! This restaurant is in Legacy West shopping center in Plano. Cute vibe with outdoor seating option. I had the redfish, shrimp and crab. It was PHENOMENAL. One of us had the burger and it was just OK. Burger patty was tasty but the bun was a lil dry. But we won't hold it against the restaurant because maybe burgers isn't their thing. The ambiance was cool. There a "concert" going on below us, which was nice. The service wasn't great. I understand we were there on a busy Saturday evening but it was hard to get drink refills. Came here for a Sunday Brunch. They're ideally located in the new Legacy area along the strip with various other great hangout spots to eat, drink, and be merry. The ambience and décor of the restaurant is fantastic. This place comes from the same group that put together restaurants like Whiskey Cake and Sixty Vines. There is a very similar feel/vibe, but more industrial here. Anyhow, the food: Steak and Grain Salad: A whiskey marinated steak atop grains, kale, pickled blueberries, spiced pecans, persimmon, ricotta salata, and a mandarin mojo vinaigrette. Lots of interesting flavors fused together here that really worked. The salad was delicious, filling, but not overbearing. Steak was cooked perfectly. One of the best salads I've had in DFW. Definitely worth the trip/order. Haywire Ranch Hand Breakfast: This was literally an upscale version of your all American breakfast. Eggs cooked your way, potatoes, bacon, fruit, and mini biscuits. Eggs were cooked perfectly and well seasoned. The bacon was the awesome thick cut. Roasted potatoes were cooked/seasoned well and wasn't overdone nor undercooked. Fruit was fresh, as if it was literally just picked, and really helped cut into all the salty/greasy deliciousness. The jalapeno and bacon biscuits were good, but would've likely been much better if it weren't cold. The biscuits must've been made ahead of time and allowed to cool for too long. Not sure what happened there. Flavors were there, but missed the mark on the temperature of the biscuits. Pecan Pie: A single order of pecan pie here was a fairly large slice with plenty of caramel sauce on the plate. It came with a single semi-scoop of ice cream. As pictured, it wasn't a full scoop. Looks like they ran the ice cream scoop across the top layer so it was really a scooped shaving of ice cream with a hollow center. Not sure if that was what they meant to do. Seems unnecessary and a bit shady on the portion there. When we asked the server about the ice cream portion we ended up getting another cup of ice cream, but without warning we were charged an additional cost. Oh well. Pie was good regardless. Ice cream made it taste even better despite the surcharge. Overall, definitely seems like a great spot to have some food and drink with a group of friends. Ambience and atmosphere are good. Food is a hit or miss and felt a bit lackluster at points. Some execution flaws that can readily be disregarded after a few drinks. Service was solid, but would've been nice to be notified that we were going to be charged for something after our party voiced our opinion on an issue of portions. read more

This is the sister restaurant to the Ranch in Las Colinas. I'm sadden they dont have the smoked chicken here because IT IS SO GOOD!!! The menu is the same as the Ranch. I live and work near the Ranch and I can tell you whats good. Good things: -Corn bread -Crab dip -Ribs -Smoked chicken (if they have it) -chicken fried steak the food taste like it came out of grandma's kitchen. Made a reservation for our 31st wedding anniversary. When we arrived the ambiance was great but they attempted to sit us near a very large party in the bar area. They did move us after some fanfair but could have been nicer about it. Mostly complained about being short on staff. Fried tomatoes were great and sides not to bad. Steak was terrible. 18 ounce ribeye dry and seemed like it was simply reheated. Nice atmosphere but save tourself some money if you are looking for a good steak. read more

Before I could even get inside I received a sign to not continue. I tried opening the door and my finger grazed against the wood door- guess who got a splinter? This girl. The splinter went in pretty deep but it was lunch time and I was with two coworkers so we continued to walk inside. We were sent to the second floor and quickly seated. The drinks came quickly, server was great but the food was so basic for the price. I ordered a chicken sandwich which was actually pretty good- the fries were extremely salty, I'm a fan of salted fries but these were SO salty! Even the sweetness of ketchup was not enough. My friends prime rib sandwich was a lot more vegetables and filler than prime rib. The food was out of this world, I can say that it is truly worth the drive from Fort Worth to Plano to eat here again. Another brunch spot! So you know I was a happy camper! Haywire is in the oh so popular Legacy West, I'm in love with this area! Haywire has that open kitchen concept which is my favorite. It gave me farm-to-table vibes. We can see how things were being prepared, the produce and ingredients that are used, how fresh everything is, the sounds of the pots and pans, delicious food in the making. Things started off with mimosas, pineapple and grapefruit and later on cranberry. Cranberry was my favorite, paired with the deliciously moist Coffee Cake in a Can. Such a neat concept and it came out hot and fresh with that soft cinnamon butter. First thing I wanted at the table. Each bite was bomb! Of course, selecting my entree wasn't an easy task. I almost went with the shrimp and grits, but at the last minute I went with the Haywire Ranch Hand Breakfast. A real, hearty, filling breakfast. Eggs scrambled soft, two thick slices of bacon, fresh blueberries and blackberries and I believe they were tri-colored potatoes. I wasn't a fan of the jalapeño biscuits though. They weren't soft at all and they came out lukewarm. That didn't ruin the party on my plate though. It's a must that I order a side of grits if the restaurant offers them. These were goat cheese grits. I don't usually have goat cheese, but I always have an open mind when it comes to food. The cheese was smooth and it mixed in well with the grits. At first it was a taste to get used to, but with every bite it got better. The grits had whole corn kernels, lots of texture, coarse texture. Usually I don't care for that, but I really liked them. It helped a lot that the grits came in a hot, mini cast iron bowl. That added to the presentation. Cute! We went later on a Saturday night on memorial weekend. Everywhere we've gone this weekend has been packed, and haywire was no different. That being said, the servers and staff were managing the crowds beautifully. Our server Ashley was able to answer all of our questions and made strong recommendations. Our food and drinks all came out timely and were paced well, with no long pauses or stacking of apps/entrees on the table all at once. Their signature drink "the haywire" was exceptional, and all of the food was cooked exactly as ordered and delivered. The lighting and the atmosphere were great. Haywire provides an excellent quality meal, great service, and wonderful atmosphere - when compared to comparable restaurants in the area in terms of quality, you really can't beat the price. read more

The server was friendly and suggested us everything from food to drinks. Our cocktails had Texas carved ice cubes which was a fun element. Food was good too. After being inside for most of 2020 so glad this was one of my first outings. While social distancing is not being practiced inside or out, masks were being worn. The drinks (not pictured) were really good and the food did not disappoint. My entree was the sea bass over orzo pasta but the dish of the night were the fried oysters. I came here with my two friends during brunch and when we arrived we were seated immediately so that was a great start. When we sat down, we were debating if we wanted separate mimosas and our waitress Chris offered we try the mimosa flight as it comes with a bottle of champagne and 4 juices (orange, grapefruit, cranberry and pineapple). It was the perfect choice so we went with that. As a starter, I ordered us the Mini Elk Tacos, and I truly enjoyed it. It was my first time having Elk, and had a happy medium between beef and turkey (if you want an idea of the texture). It was seasoned very well, and I personally loved how super crisp the taco shell was. It is a bit messy when you bite because of the taco shell, but nothing napkins can't fix. For my entree I had the Shrimp & Grits and MY OH MY was that the BEST choice. Every single bite was throughly seasoned! The use of Cajun was the perfect amount and the sausages tasted so good. The grits itself wasn't a very smooth texture but I still enjoyed every bite because everything balanced so well together. For desert, we tried the carrot cake and again that also DID NOT disappoint. It was a bit on the colder side, but nevertheless I 100% recommend ordering it. My friends and I ate every single piece of the cake! Next time I'll ask the waiter/waitress if it can be warmed just a tad. Overall, we throughly enjoyed our time here and we will definitely be back. read more
