All drinks standard or fancy come out cold and tasty to accompany that barside snack or full lunch/dinner meal. Servers don fun T-shirts with catchy sayings buzzing around smiling serving it up. Everytime I have dined here they have been very attentive, sometimes overly, but in good spirits just making sure you have everything you wanted and needed, on top of keeping things neat/clean. This outing was for my Mr's Birthday, so appetizer, entrées and dessert. We started with the Crab Spinach and Artichoke dip with chips as we waited for entrée selections. It was served up creamy in a bread bowl stuffed with crab, spinach and artichoke, super tasty and great start. The Mr ordered up the Crab Stuffed Lobster Tail with a bechamel sauce. Noted the flavors were good, but next time would order bechamel sauce on side so there was more control of it not overwhelming the fresh protein with every initial bite. Mentioned the Roasted Potatoes and Corn that accompanied it were nicely cooked and not overly seasoned. Personally opted to double down on the crab side of things and snagged myself one of their Crab cake sandwiches on a pretzel roll. With each bite you knew the crab cake was freshly made not a frozen premade puck. It easily smashed down quickly with each bite, with good fresh crab flavor, not just breadcrumbs, like you might experience elsewhere ;) Also noted their pretzel bun was soft, airy with good classic pretzel flavor without the hard/tough exterior crunch. Noting that in the past I have also ordered up their fresh Tuna Steak entrée which is also a delicious entrée option. Finished off the meal with a menu fan favorite Chocolate Lava Cake, as my Mr is always hoping for it to truly lava out. Will say Harbor Crab definitely has come the closest in sense of it sorta flowing out when cut into. I assured the birthday boy that he should know the texture, taste were indeed on point, even if it didn't fully lava out ;) All in all another great dining experience at this location as the quality of fresh seafood offerings, service, live music ambiance and atmosphere are on point. I'm calling this review "Come Monday". Why you ask? Because I came here on a Monday afternoon. We weren't expecting to see much of a crowd but when we were brought onto the deck, the outdoor bar was full and lively. There are some high top tables so we grabbed one along with some drinks (a landshark in case you were wondering. See, "Come Monday" makes even more sense now, huh)... Our server, Shaliq, was incredible, making sure we were well taken care of. And the food was awesome. I end up at the Harbor Crab every so often. Every time I've been there it has been a good experience. I am usually there late afternoon/early evening on a Friday for some reason. This time we got clams on the half shell, fish and chips, and the scampi that had shrimp and scallops. Everything was delicious, especially the scampi. Our server was wonderful and we got to sit outside on the deck. It wasn't the warmest night but it was enjoyable. The bathroom was clean, just as the rest of the place. On the water in Patchogue, LI, this place has something for everyone in a casual, albeit dated, setting. Food was very good as one would expect, and they have specials every night. With a great bar overlooking the marina and ample outdoor seating it will become a favorite when visiting friends and family in LI. At a later seating on a Tuesday I ordered the mariscada and it was ok. It didn't have enough rice to absorb/complement the gravy in the stew to MY taste. My wife ordered the lobster roll said it tasted good with perhaps a bit too much onion. We returned the next day a bit earlier in the evening with my son and his spouse and was told the crab cake and hamburger sandwiches were very tasty. I have been here a few times and always have a good experience. Came in on a Saturday around 3:30 for a late lunch. There were a few tables with people eating inside. There is also an outside seating area near the parking lot. I have also sat at a table that is on the dock. There is an inside bar as well as an outside bar that is right on the water. Today I had the oyster poboy. It came out real quick because there were not many people there. It came with fries and a pickle. Went here for restaurant week. The restaurant was not busy. Waitress was very attentive and took our orders. We went with prix fix menu. I had baked clams, meh. Very bready not very clammy. My husband had the lobster bisque and enjoyed it. We both ordered broiled lobster. Meh. It came with potatoes that needed to be thrown out a week ago and water logged corn on the cob. We went to Harbor Crab last night after seeing their Long Island restaurant week add. A solid 5 +++++ experience! Highly, Highly recommended. HC is way under rated on Yelp. HC is now my new favorite waterfront seafood restaurant on Long Island. We walked in cold off the street at peek dinner time on a Sunday without a reservation. Not always a good idea! As soon as we walked in, We were greeted by a friendly and professional hostess who quickly jumped into immediate action and hustled to get us the best water view table open. What a great first impression of the staff. We felt like celebrities walking into a trendy spot in Manhattan as they hustled to seat us. A+ on the hostess staff! The decor is kind of "Jimmy Buffet" casual with a bamboo and nautical displays throughout. There are two separate bar areas, an upstairs dining area, a main floor dining area, a main bar area and outside dining. The main bar area is surrounded by opening glass bar windows and glass overhead doors that open on warm days. You can see the water from almost every angle. The bar is very comfortable and there are a number of big screen TVs. A cool place to watch the big games. As soon as we were seated at our waterfront table our server came over, introduced herself, and gave us a quick rundown of HC's menu and took our drink orders. Our server was Iris, big shout out to Iris! She was great and walked us through the menu and specials. She also made some great pro recommendations. Our server Iris, was excellent she not only helped make our dining experience a 5+++ but she helped make us future repeat customers. Our positive experience with the staff and service is a reflection of a well run establishment. Good job team HC. For apps we had oysters on the half shell and oysters casino. The half shell oysters were large, plump fresh flavorful local oysters. The ousters casino were also quite good and unique. For mains we had the lobster Harbor Feast and the Restaurant week lobster and crab special. Both were delicious and huge portions! Our server Iris walked us through sauce selections, a big help! On the lobster Harbor feast we had the white wine and garlic sauce. This dish came with a whole steamed lobster, tons of muscles, clams, shrimp, potatoes and an ear of corn. The restaurant week special was a 1/2 steamed lobster, Snow crab cluster, dungene crab, shrimp, potatoes and corn. Both dished were delicious and huge portions. The waitress, Mimi? Checked on us often and had no problem answering our 240 questions. There's a "secret" menu but its really not a secret, it's the seafood menu that prices change often so it is printed separately which is a great idea. You can't go wrong with any of the crab leg meals and I recommend that you share them because there's plenty on the plate. Chicken Ceasars salad needed more chicken, it had an overload of croutons. Ahi tuna plate had a huge amount of pink ginger on it, would have preferred more veggies and less ginger. Rainbow cake was dry, Smores brownie dessert was moist with a deep chocolate flavor. Definitely will be back when the sun is shining. They do impose the charge card fee. Make reservations to ensure you're accommodated when the weather is nice. Had a lovely experience here for Saturday lunch. Picked this spot, as it was close to a vineyard we wanted to visit. I saw there were multiple restaurants on the water, but Harbor Crab drew me in with the promise of seafood and "tiki drinks". We had planned to do outdoor dining, but it was just a bit too breezy so we sat inside. Although not my first choice, the tables were spaced far enough, that I felt comfortable doing that. But the outdoor area did look nice and luckily we were placed near the big picture window so we could still enjoy the scenery including lots of swans and ducks (including a rowdy swan chasing one of the ducks!). We ordered King Crab legs and Mussels Fra Diavolo and both were good. The crab was a bit too dry (maybe over steamed?) but the mussels were great and there was plenty of sauce for us to sop up with the complimentary bread. The sauce was so good. They also thankfully gave us the right "tools" to crack our crab legs and pull out the meat, plus wet wipes, extra bowls for the shells, and plenty of napkins. I got one cocktail - the Moscow Mule - which was just the right mixture of vodka and ginger beer. There was a spacious parking lot and the restrooms were clean (though on the small side...two stalls and one sink in the ladies' room). The staff was all attentive and friendly and all wearing masks. My only qualm was the place started getting more crowded and we were long done, but the waitress took a while to check on us / bring our check / bring our cards. But at the same time, it was nice to not be rushing around and have some time to linger and chat. I enjoyed Harbor Crab enough that I would come back - maybe in the summer time, when we can comfortably sit out on the dock! read more

We came for Restaurant Week and it was wonderful. We had the monster plated of Crab Fest: 2 snow crab legs (gave us three), 1 king crab leg (they gave us two), and broasted potatoes and corn. They were out of Dungeness Crab. It we didn't care because they gave us extra crab to overflow. It was fresh and tasty. We loved the appetizers, baked clams and Korean wings. We were very happy with our first time here. We had Cobb salad with lobster, the grilled octopus, oysters on the half shell and the lobster burger. Everything was pretty tasty, but the octopus was quite underwhelming. Small chunks, and the flavor just wasn't it. It was a smidge over done, but I get it octopus is a tough thing to make! He really loved his lobster burger, I haven't seen him so happy with a burger in a long time! My salad was quite excellent, I didn't get any skimpy portions at all and it was exactly what I had in mind. Since it was so hot out all I wanted was some crisp salad and a nice hunk of lobster and it was exactly that. Oysters are super fresh, and tasty. We got six to start and he liked them so much we got another round of a dozen. Good call, as they really were very good. Service was decent, overall okay, would have liked to been checked up on a time or two more but it was fine. It's super cute inside, very tiki bar esque, albeit a tad outdated, it's fun looking for sure. You can also sit outside, it's right on the marina. High hopes for this place after reading all the reviews but unfortunately they didn't live up to expectations. The staff was really friendly but our server seemed like she was playing tag the way she would drop something off and run away really fast. Never checking back after the food was brought to the table.. The baked clams were really gritty. Seemed like every bite, we were eating sand. The oysters were okay. Wished I could have had it with some Tabasco sauce but our server never came back until after we had finished the appetizers. The mussels were delicious and it was a big portion!! And the cheese burger was just okay.. nothing special . What was really annoying was that the server didn't inform me that there was a surcharge on credit card payments!!! If she had told me, I would have used a debit card instead... I don't mind the surcharge but for this restaurant not to inform their guests about the surcharge is outrageous. This was actually the first time I ever had a surcharge at a restaurant (maybe it's a New York thing?) The fish was prepared pretty well. unfortunately, you could not taste the group of fish because of the overwhelming Cajun Spices and peppers mixed in. The waitress had a bad attitude with her nonverbal body language. As if I was causing her an inconvenience. The manager refused to fully listen to me. I was very kind and discreet to tell her that I am a big foodie. She replied that this is their best dish and everyone love it. I don't know if she was being transparent or some of the people that eat there go out often and expand their pallet. I also ordered an octopus appetizer. I've ordered an octopus appetizer on many occasions. I also ordered an octopus appetizer in Patchogue on Main Street, and with no exaggeration, the piece of octopus that was given to me was six times smaller than any octopus appetizer I have ever ordered. It was on top of a large green bed of unnecessary greens. The Lobster Macaroni and Cheese was watery in the center. I tried to explain to the manager in a kind way, but she obviously did not want to hear me or take my advice after I explained to her that I am a big foodie. Unfortunately, I did not get to take a picture of the meals. This was because it took slightly long to receive our meals. For full disclosure, the grouper was not on the lunch menu. My request was fulfilled. They agreed to make me the Cajun Grouper. When you agree to make something, and you put it in front of your customers to eat, you as the establishment except full responsibility on what you put out in front of us to eat. Taking an item off of my bill is not enough to satisfying your customers palette. When the customer is attempting to explain to you, what is wrong, in a respectful, quiet manner, I think it's wise to listen to him or her. You never stop learning in life. Had reservations for 4, at 6:00 on Valentine's Day. It was decorated so pretty. We arrived promptly at 6:00. Seated right away ! Our waiter Andrew was very friendly and explained a few of the "specials", that were featured tonight. I went with the ultimate seafood Diablo . This dish was loaded with black mussels scallops clams and jumbo shrimp. Sever over bow tie pasta. I usually never order this dish out, because no one makes it as good as me , BUT, I must say, this was absolutely delicious ! Yup, blown away goodness. I turned to my husband who happened to order the same thing, to see his reaction and he immediately said, this is excellent ! When our waiter asked if we were doing ok I asked to get a message to the chef. I wanted him to know, how much I enjoyed this dish, and how great it was. After a few minutes the chef actually came over to our table. I was so taken by this. I Got a picture of him and the general manager Michelle. Bravo. Great team. That gesture goes a long way. It always helps when the name of a restaurant actually fits the place. I'd say this is somewhat the case for Harbor Crab Company. I mean, the site is a business and it does sit on a body of water. Oh and there's plenty of crabby options to be found on the menu. So I guess HCC hits the proverbial crustacean on the head (with a mallet). But for me, I'm not really a crab guy. Don't worry, that won't cause some odd one-star review, unless it was deserved (it definitely wasn't). There's much more to be found at Harbor Crab than this single organism. You'll have the ability to locate gastropods, bivalves, and other invertebrates, all for the eating (I was letting my science teacher flag fly there, sorry). The menu isn't necessarily vast, but decent in size and selection, albeit the prices are a little on the high side when compared to food caliber. More on that in a sec. First, ambiance deserves a mention. HCC is your average restaurant in every sense of the word with a nice bar area and plenty of seating. What helps to make it stand out over other spots is the full-sized boat connected to the building, used to house a whole other section of seafood consumers. That's where my girlfriend, her family, and I dined a few Saturdays ago. We were a larger-ish group that was given a back room all to ourselves. It made for a nice, somewhat intimate maritime setting. What added to the experience was the spot-on friendly service. There were several staff members that assisted in orders and delivery of food. Things came out in a timely fashion with salads, appetizers, and entrees all delivered at the right moment. Needless to say I was impressed from this standpoint. I suppose what wasn't as impressive was the food quality. Don't get me wrong, things weren't nasty. My bowl of french onion soup was tasty and the Main Mac Attack burger (fried lobster mac and cheese, bacon, beef patty) packed some good flavor. Though both items weren't really of the seafood variety. Those that did dig in to more intense oceanic options reported back some mixed reviews (soft shell crab, seafood platter). I did snag a baked clam which seemed fine to me, well except for that little sandy crunch that came towards the final bite. I suppose, from a seafood standpoint, just be wary on what you order. Overall, Harbor Crab Company still seems to hold itself together nicely. The ambiance is great and the service is wonderful which are two of its strong points. Food is relatively good though when pairing it with price, things might get mildly hairy. Despite all this, it was the second time my girlfriend's family chose Harbor Crab Company as their dinner option so there definitely is some worthiness of a return. Considering what is truly highlighted here and the portions that lacked, I'd say I feel more of a 3 1/2 star review over 4, but for those little positive factors in my own and my girlfriend's experiences, I'll round up. Please AVIOD this place if you are a person of color. The staff is racist. We asked to sit at a different table because there were children running around in our section. Despite the place being almost empty, the staff refused without any reason and gave us an unstable table instead. When the mediocre food arrived (the kind you think you could make better at home), a slight movement caused the entire table to flip over, spilling my plate of food in seconds. You also can't beat that view of the water! Harbor Crab is located in Patchogue on the marina with free parking on property. At the time of our visit they were sitting diners inside or outside and the bar area was also open. It was our first meal in town and we decided to try several items and share. Our order consisted of: - Fried Calamari - Grouper Tacos - Nachos with Crab - Lobster Bisque - Harbor Crab and Cobb salad Most everything we ordered was tasty, but the standout items from our meal were the Nachos with Crab and Harbor Crab and Cobb salad. Both had a generous amount of fresh crab meat that really stood out in the respective dishes. It highlighted the seafood fare that Harbor Crab prides their menu on. The only item that we would pass on would be the Lobster Bisque. It came out a little cold and lacked flavor. Definitely would not recommend it. Although the food was good (a solid 4-stars), I have mixed thoughts about the service which is why I'm knocking it down to a 3.5. I got a very strange vibe about the collegiality of the staff. It seemed like almost everyone was annoyed and a little short with each other. The hostess who greeted us couldn't have been any less enthusiastic about us (or the party before us) entering the establishment. The minute she sat us down, she started angrily talking to one of the other workers. Our server was a young guy who was charismatic to our face, but he was awful to the young bus boy. His exchanges to the bus boy, in public and in front of the customers, were super demeaning and reminded me of pledging for a fraternity/sorority. One instance was when we asked for a water refill from our server. He was pleasant to us, but barked the request to the bus boy reminding him that, "he gets paid by the server...so HURRY UP." I was shocked at the behavior. Even observing the interactions of other staff with each other felt very disjointed. Weird vibe. The food is good, so if you're looking for something tasty in a nice environment on the water, Harbor Crab is a solid choice. My Wife and I had justt been through trhe Passing of My Mother and a very close friend, so we wanted to go and have a good Seafood Meal. Both of us being foodies, we know good food, and good Seafood and THIS WAS NOT IT!! We started with the Crab Soup, and the Mixed Crab/ Lobster Soup, which Sounded great. When I tasted it it was Cold Gelatinous Extremely Salty Bland Horendously inedible. We sent itt back to be heated and it did not help.. The Waiter (Who Was Great and very nice) took them off the Bill... The Coconut Shrimp Was Definitely Frozen Shrimp, We know Fresh Seafood.. Even the drinks were bad.. Watered down Lemonade and Coke that tasted like the lines hadnt been cleaned in a year.. WE WERE AFRAID TO GET THE MAIN COURSE.. We thought of cancelling and leaving but we were committed. I had ordered the Surf & Turf and my wife the Harbor Bake.. Both were made to sound Delish!! and I wanted some Lobster.. What Arrived was more of the same.. Like the "Chef" did his Shopping at Price club in the fozen food section and then let it sit in the freezer for 6 months. The Shrimp were awful, the Lobster and everything Bland and Tasteless.. 1 out of 10... I think Ive made my point,. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY and do not go.. The Chefs name is Boyardee and I was embarrassed to have taken my wife there.. how they can serve food like that and stay in business is Frightening. The prices were outrageous considering what we paid for were what youd pay for Fresh Seafood. ($42 entree's). Not Frozen Bland, quite frankly , Garbage. The Ambiance was not a factor.. It was neither great nor horrible, and sitting by the water was nice.. They need to change a lot of things. We Will NEVER return. read more
