I was honestly skeptical when we pulled up because it's such a small little bar, and I wasn't expecting the food to be anything special. I was completely wrong. We started with some oysters, which were the freshest oysters I've ever had. The oyster menu had a good variety of sizes and salinities. The Manhattan clam chowder was SO GOOD. I normally don't approve of soup in the summer but this is a must try no matter what season it is. We ordered a bunch of appetizers to share so we could try a little bit of everything. Sicilian calamari was cooked to perfection and perfectly tender. Loved that it was sautéed because it's a little lighter than fried, but I definitely want to try the fried calamari next time we come here. Seared ahi tuna was also some of the best I've ever had. I don't even like swordfish but the blackened swordfish special completely changed my mind. They have different specials every day and I don't think you can really go wrong with anything on the menu. The atmosphere is very laid back, and everyone was so friendly. It's family owned and operated, and you can tell they really care. There were lots of regulars, which says a lot. The prices are surprisingly reasonable for food this good. We'll definitely be coming back. Hands down the best oyster bar in Long Island. read more

We ate at the bar, and the bartender was friendly and helpful. Extra points for Summer in a Bottle on tap - it comes out ice cold and delish. They have a variety of oysters (both local and not) and other seafood yummies. Among a few other items we had a lobster pasta, and fish stew that really stood out. The fish stew was similar to a cioppino, with an amazing broth and huge pieces of fish in addition to the shellfish. Pro tip, when you finish eating, take the broth home and put it over pasta the next day. Chef's kiss. I wouldn't go with a big group, just because of the teensy cutesy size of this place...but go. Was in the area for a little hike and wanted seafood for a late lunch. It's a cozy restaurant on the main strip in Patchogue. About 10 people there when we walked in about 2 pm. Mike the bartender, waiter, bus boy - do it all was great. Helped with the beer, oysters and calamari selection. Everything was on point. What a great little restaurant! Others have described it as a hidden gem and I can see why. The coastal decor is very welcoming and comfortable; there are a number of standalone tables and plenty of seats at the bar, which was crowded when we arrived Our waitress, Janine, was a sweetheart - super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. She made great recommendations on the oysters from the menu. We opted for Fire Island Blues and Lucky 13. They were both delicious and super, super fresh. I have to say out of all the food we ate, the oysters were our favorite. We also ordered the baked clams, sesame crusted tuna, and fried calamari . We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and I can't wait to get back for more of those fresh oysters and delicious and tasty baked clams. The oysters were outstanding. Not used to Northern oysters but these were excellent. On the expensive side But worth it. Also had a Hook, line and Sinker platter. Love this spot. We've been here 4 times and the food is always on point. It's tiny, so you may wait for a table (there's 2 regular sized and 2-3 two seater bar height tables) or you can eat at the bar. Oyster Catch is a great, cozy place to visit for some deliciously fresh seafood. My friend and I shared oysters, which were chilled perfectly and along with a good cocktail sauce were quite tasty. I had the tuna wrap, which was served rare and had a flavorful, spicy sauce on top of it. They didn't skimp on the tuna and it was thoroughly enjoyed. Followed by a delicious, chonky lobster roll - tender, buttery, and awesome! Paired with a couple of "True Italian" cocktails (a new summer creation by bartender Mike!) Just wanted to add extra props to Mike, who was not only mixing up some of the tastiest cocktails to touch the tip of my tongue, but simultaneously waiting on tables, and performing FLAWLESS service! Extra napkins? Check! Swinging by midway to see how everything was doing? Check! Delicious complex cocktails that involve fresh herbs? CHECK! Catch has been our favorite local date-night option in what seems like forever. So last night, for the first time, we had no babysitter and took the little ones. Didn't change a thing. The food and vibe at this local seafood bar right off Main Street is outstanding. Same goes for the service, as we have also done take-out from here many times. Last night as our usual to start, two dozen fresh and chill as they come, oysters (skinny magherita was so clean and fresh) We divided up the 24 into four 6-packs from different locales. We usually spend a few minutes discussing what one go better with mignonette or cocktail sauce. Of course, squeeze of lemon never hurts as is protocol. My wife and son both had the blacked salmon, one over a crispy Caesar and one over mixed veggies. Even though it was blackened crispy on the outside, the inside was juicy and done to perfection. For myself, I love a good chicken Francese, so when I saw a special "striped bass francese", I politely put the menu down. Over mashed potatoes and mixed veggies, this was a home run. Excuse me...a grand slam. I could eat that for dinner 7 nights a week and never get tired. We have so much confidence in this joint that we know we can order whatever we want and it's always done perfect. Last outting here we came especially for their soft shell crab sandwich and it was such a treat. I can't recommend this place enough. Can't wait to get back, and it's a gem. read more

Great oysters! Great selection, all perfectly cleaned and chilled. NE clam chowder was excellent. Small place, five tables and maybe 12 spots at the bar. Went for lunch on a Wednesday and it was shockingly packed. Bartender was also serving tables. She was working really hard and was super nice. I had the opportunity to check out Catch on a Sunday afternoon. The place is on the smaller side, if I wasn't specifically looking for some where to have fresh oysters, I would have likely walked right past it. But for a small joint, it packs a big punch! We ordered a dozen fresh oysters and their fried calamari - both of which were excellent. Since it's on the smaller side, there's limited seating but we were fortunate to grab a seat at a high top right away. The service was quick and our server was friendly. After a nice sauna session a few doors down, we stopped in here for a light dinner. Did not disappoint! Lots of parking in the back, and this place is among several other places on the corner of Ocean and Main. It was pretty full, but we got seated in a cozy spot up front. Immediately drawn to the octopus salad, but also tried the tuna wrap. A half dozen oysters while wating. Everything was fresh and delicious, and the wrap was nice and packed. One of the best food experiences I have had in a while. We sat at the bar and right from the start I knew that I was going to like my experience because of the bartender. Nice, friendly, and accommodating. Oysters are outstanding... many local selections to choose from, but get the "house" oysters called fire island blues. The lobster roll was 9/10 - the lemon aioli gave it a great freshness. I wanted to try the white wine on tap but the co2 was out. They had a good selection of taps and a great cocktail menu. We showed up on a Friday evening around 6 PM and were kindly greeted and we only waited about five minutes till we got a great table. Michaela (sp?) is a wonderful host and waited on us throughout the evening! She was fantastic and so patient and wonderful with us! Catch is always bustling with a fun crowd, and here's why. The food is phenomenal. If you're a seafood lover, you have to get in here. It's a small, pub style setup, but that's what adds to the charm. It's got that "Cheers" feel but with great food. My favorite app is the roasted oysters. Although the tuna poke bowl is no joke! For dinner Friday we had the seared tuna special served with risotto and charred asparagus. The lemon butter caper sauce in that dish was DEEElish. We also had the warm lobster roll. Absolutely love this place! From the moment we walked in, we could tell this was something special. Nestled in the heart of downtown Patchogue, this new restaurant brings both incredible food and an unmatched vibe that make it the perfect spot for a night out. Though it's on the smaller side--about half the space dedicated to a large, inviting bar, with the other half for tables--there's a charm to it. You get the feeling that it's intimate and personal, but I'd say it's best for smaller groups, as it might be a tight squeeze for larger parties. Honestly, though, that's one of the only things I'd mention, and it doesn't take away from the experience at all. We kicked things off with some adult beverages, and I was impressed by their excellent selection of local beers--always a plus. To start, my wife and I shared the Tuna Poke appetizer. Let me tell you, this was not just a little bite--this was a generous portion of incredibly fresh tuna, served with crispy homemade chips and a side of creamy guacamole. We were both blown away by how flavorful and fresh it was, an absolutely perfect starter. For my entrée, I couldn't resist the Montauk Lobster Roll, and let me tell you, even as someone who's not usually a lobster person, this thing is out of this world. It came packed with a hearty portion of sweet lobster, and the presentation was stellar--lobster claws perched perfectly atop the sandwich, adding that extra touch of elegance. It was served with a side of slaw and pickle, and I opted for a side salad instead of chips or fries. Every bite was perfection, and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. My wife went for the Baked Clams as her entrée, and she was absolutely over the moon. She said they were the best clams she's ever had, and I have to agree after stealing a bite off her plate. They were plump, flavorful, and perfectly baked--she was a happy camper. The only downside (and it's a tiny one) is that they don't currently offer a dessert menu, but honestly, it didn't matter. We walked just a couple of minutes over to Roast for a perfect cup of coffee to wrap up the night, which turned out to be the perfect ending. All in all, this place deserves 5/5 stars without a doubt. From the food to the vibe, everything is top-notch. Great place for fresh seafood. Been here a few times. Always a solid spot. My only gripe was the beer. Both iPA's were flat. Barrier and five boroughs are great breweries and produce great beer. I was appreciative the bartender/cook assisted and tried to fix. It did help a little . Those are great beers and need to be perfectly poured without being flat. Could be the line or CO2.
