What a great little restaurant! Others have described it as a hidden gem and I can see why. The coastal decor is very welcoming and comfortable; there are a number of standalone tables and plenty of seats at the bar, which was crowded when we arrived Our waitress, Janine, was a sweetheart - super friendly and very knowledgeable about the menu. She made great recommendations on the oysters from the menu. We opted for Fire Island Blues and Lucky 13. They were both delicious and super, super fresh. I have to say out of all the food we ate, the oysters were our favorite. We also ordered the baked clams, sesame crusted tuna, and fried calamari . We thoroughly enjoyed the meal and I can't wait to get back for more of those fresh oysters and delicious and tasty baked clams. First time at Catch. It's a cute small luncheonette type restaurant. There was only one server who was very helpful. We had a wonderful lunch of a dozen wonderful oysters perfectly chilled and delicious fish and chips. The fish was fresh, fried and no oily residue. Would go back any time. read more

Love this spot. We've been here 4 times and the food is always on point. It's tiny, so you may wait for a table (there's 2 regular sized and 2-3 two seater bar height tables) or you can eat at the bar. I had the opportunity to check out Catch on a Sunday afternoon. The place is on the smaller side, if I wasn't specifically looking for some where to have fresh oysters, I would have likely walked right past it. But for a small joint, it packs a big punch! We ordered a dozen fresh oysters and their fried calamari - both of which were excellent. Lots of parking in the back, and this place is among several other places on the corner of Ocean and Main. It was pretty full, but we got seated in a cozy spot up front. Nice, friendly, and accommodating. Oysters are outstanding... many local selections to choose from, but get the "house" oysters called fire island blues. We showed up on a Friday evening around 6 PM and were kindly greeted and we only waited about five minutes till we got a great table. Michaela (sp?) is a wonderful host and waited on us throughout the evening! She was fantastic and so patient and wonderful with us! Absolutely love this place! From the moment we walked in, we could tell this was something special. Nestled in the heart of downtown Patchogue, this new restaurant brings both incredible food and an unmatched vibe that make it the perfect spot for a night out. Though it's on the smaller side--about half the space dedicated to a large, inviting bar, with the other half for tables--there's a charm to it. You get the feeling that it's intimate and personal, but I'd say it's best for smaller groups, as it might be a tight squeeze for larger parties. Honestly, though, that's one of the only things I'd mention, and it doesn't take away from the experience at all. We kicked things off with some adult beverages, and I was impressed by their excellent selection of local beers--always a plus. To start, my wife and I shared the Tuna Poke appetizer. Let me tell you, this was not just a little bite--this was a generous portion of incredibly fresh tuna, served with crispy homemade chips and a side of creamy guacamole. We were both blown away by how flavorful and fresh it was, an absolutely perfect starter. For my entrée, I couldn't resist the Montauk Lobster Roll, and let me tell you, even as someone who's not usually a lobster person, this thing is out of this world. It came packed with a hearty portion of sweet lobster, and the presentation was stellar--lobster claws perched perfectly atop the sandwich, adding that extra touch of elegance. It was served with a side of slaw and pickle, and I opted for a side salad instead of chips or fries. Every bite was perfection, and I couldn't have been happier with my choice. My wife went for the Baked Clams as her entrée, and she was absolutely over the moon. She said they were the best clams she's ever had, and I have to agree after stealing a bite off her plate. They were plump, flavorful, and perfectly baked--she was a happy camper. The only downside (and it's a tiny one) is that they don't currently offer a dessert menu, but honestly, it didn't matter. We walked just a couple of minutes over to Roast for a perfect cup of coffee to wrap up the night, which turned out to be the perfect ending. All in all, this place deserves 5/5 stars without a doubt. From the food to the vibe, everything is top-notch. Great place for fresh seafood. Been here a few times. Always a solid spot. My only gripe was the beer. Both iPA's were flat. Barrier and five boroughs are great breweries and produce great beer. I was appreciative the bartender/cook assisted and tried to fix. It did help a little . Those are great beers and need to be perfectly poured without being flat. Could be the line or CO2. I was looking for good, fresh seafood. I didn't realize Catch Oyster Bar had such a small dining area but the server was able to accommodate our party of 3. Everything was excellent. The Manhattan clam chowder was slightly spicy and bountiful with clams and other good stuff. I wasn't planning on getting raw oysters but never been to a place where there was a choice of like 12 different types of fresh oysters! I chose the fire island and naked cowboy haha - they were so good! My entree was fried oysters. They were big and tender - no comparison to the fried clam strips I've had in the past. This place was packed when I arrived with hubby. The waitress was able to accommodate the two of us and get us a table. There was some room at the bar, but it seemed like everyone in town is here. As in there are regulars who have been here all the time. The bar is cozy, so if you like to spread out or have fears of pandemic. This is not the bar for you. Other than that, I really enjoyed it here. We placed this on our must visit list, because of their impressive list of options for raw oysters. And the bar was amazing. It did live up to it's name. I came here the first time for a celebratory lunch. The waitress was attentive. The food was pretty good and the oysters were tasty. They were $34 a dozen or $3 each (middle of the line for this location) and the waitress explained each type and origin. I got half a dozen and they were delicious. So were the sauces. My partner was unimpressed with the size and taste of his soft crab special which I assume was around $20. My crab cake slider was just that, a tiny slider with chowder for $18. The portions were very small but the food was decent, so we were willing to deal. The issue is that I came back for round 2 and was ignored. I had gone to brunch with a friend and decided I had a hankering for oysters again. We sat for about 5 minutes and were completely ignored. We were the only ones there. We sat in the same very prominent window seat, and although this restaurant is tiny, they somehow "did not see us" and the older gentleman and woman resumed "kekeing" over tap beer and whatever else seemed to be hilarious. The waitress appeared to be going to break, and the guys in the back were chilling against the grill. I don't know how you don't see or hear customers, and if it's siesta time, lock your door. The place is physically small off the main road. The menu is limited but the flavors are big. If I win the lottery I would eat here every night, it's that good. Seafood is their thing and they are experts. They have a full bar and sports on the TV so peeps can get a little loud, this is not a romantic spot. But eat plenty of oysters and even more oysters and then bring your romance back home. I had fish tacos and the fish that night was red snapper which was a treat since most places use frozen cod or other whitefish. The snapper was fresh and tender. I imagined that I just caught it that day myself. Plenty of fish in each taco. There was only one soft shell for each taco which quickly fell apart, two may be better but I'm not sure how it would impact the flavors of the sauce and condiments. Regardless, grab hold, bite down and don't let go until you polish off that taco, enjoy the juice dripping all over your hands. I can attest that it makes a great breakfast the following day.
