I've celebrated a few birthdays here and selected Karver's for my birthday this year- today. Well, I wasn't very impressed today. I ordered the chop salad with steak, which I've had several times over the years. Our meals took maybe 25 minutes to come out. It's a Saturday so I get it. But then they gave me the wrong salad and the steak was tough. I let Oscar know and he put in a new order for the correct salad. My friend was already eating her meal but I had to wait for mine. It came delivered by the female manager and was now the correct salad but the steak was still tough. (Ordered medium) we then ordered dessert to share. We paid the bill and tip but I wasn't really happy with my experience this time. No offer to compensate for the initial wait time, and then the incorrect order. Just feeling kinda meh. read more

Parking lot sucks bc you can never find a spot, luckily I have handicapped parking. I had a reservation on open table but the place was so packed we just squished into the bar. I don't not like places this loud! It is a beautiful restaurant but it was too hard to see anything due to overcrowding. Food was very good. Got Mac n cheese bites, Caesar salad and a cheeseburger. The bartender (Kelly) was not attentive (empty drinks) bc she bar was understaffed. I really think this restaurant has enough staff to pack out the way it does. read more

Came here for dinner on a summer evening for just a table of two with no reservation, we had no wait and even had the option to sit outside or inside (we opted for in). Off the bat, I won't lie I got some "Applebee's" type feelings from the place, but I wasn't going to pass judgment on a place simply by how it looks, my mother taught me better! But granted you could probably argue that for a lot of American bistro style restaurants that try to have that hometown local feel to it with all the stuff hanging on the walls. Staff was incredibly friendly and attentive, our server especially, Alexa, really felt like she was going out her way to check in on us and how everything was which did feel nice. For food we started with the spinach artichoke dip, a classic and this one was just as good as I've had anywhere, but most importantly they give you plenty of chips! For entrees, I went with the Philly cheesesteak and my girlfriend went with the brisket French dip with mozzarella cheese. Both were delicious but I think my girlfriend beat me this time with her choice! The choice of brisket over a typical roast beef is an interesting one for a French dip, but I do love a good brisket and this one was certainly tasty. The Philly wasn't you're traditional cheesesteak either, but it scratched my itch (but do be warned that thing comes out HOT!). Both came with a deceivingly large basket of fries that were fresh and crispy and a nice salty to compliment to our sandwiches. I really enjoyed trying this one and they had a bunch of interesting specials that I contemplated trying too, which makes me eager to come back again and see what other new tasty options they might have in store! read more

We were in the area on a rainy cold Saturday afternoon in April and searched online for something to eat. This place had great reviews and reasonable prices. What especially stood out to me was the great customer service and experience. Our waitress Kelly went above and beyond to by making food recs to ensuring our waters were always filled and even gave me a side of pickles to go with my burger because they are my favorite. The restaurant was having a private event in the back and every booth was filled but that did not take away from our service and the quality of our food. We definitely will be back! Seated right away and our waitress was fantastic. Fried calamari came out in minutes. I enjoyed the lavender lemonade and my husband enjoyed his alcoholic drink. Stopped in early (4:30) Friday evening after searching online for a dinner spot. The website does a good job drawing you in. Fantastic service by Shawn F. So many things that I would like to have tried, but I was in the mood for fish and chips so that's what I went with. Three pieces of fish fried golden brown. Very tasty. The fries were decent and the Cole slaw was on point. The menu is a bit pricey, but it is Long Island, NY. It's easy to sticker shock this Florida boy. I'm in town for a few more nights. I'll likely return to try one of their mac and cheese dishes. read more

Really great food. We went on the weekend and apparently they only do their dinner menu on the weekends which is fine but it also brings the dinner price. Also this place gets extremely busy. We've tried to go here another time and it was so packed we just left. But this visit we went around 2:00 and was fine. I got the blue cheese hamburger which comes on a brioche roll with onion straws. It also comes with French fries, coleslaw and a pickle. French fries were awesome, burger was awesome too. Would definitely get it again. My wife got the California flatbread. That's not really my thing but she loved it and couldn't stop saying how good it was. My son was being picky and ended up getting mozzarella sticks. I tried one and they were good and crispy. Service was good, the waitress was nice. Just make sure you are done with your food cause they're a little quick to take plates off the table. I was just eating the last few fries I had I turned my head for a second and next thing I knew my plate was gone Will definitely go back just be mindful the prices are a bit high but the food is worth the price. read more

Overall, very good experience, really good food, and the bar is a comfortable place to have dinner with some friends. On a random Tuesday night we headed over for dinner about 6 o'clock. The place was packed and the wait was over 35 minutes. Rather than wait, we checked out the bar and found some seats. Very friendly bartender who was not pushing you to hurry up and eat and go. Started things out with a specialty cocktail of theirs called, "smoked cherry old-fashioned". The base bourbon was woodville bourbon. It's the first time any of us ever had it and we all thought it was quite good. Included in the drink were orange bitters, Amarna juice, Amarena, cherries, orange peel, smoked with cherry chips. It's topped off by being lit on fire and that's what gives it It's smoky taste. I asked the bartender what the place was known for, and amongst the many things included hamburgers. I went with the Karver's hamburger which was done, medium, and included pepper jack cheese, lettuce, tomato, and their sauce. The burger was fantastic. The bun was soft and not super thick. A very enjoyable burger. It comes with fries, but you can get other sides, I just went with the basic fries. They were good. read more

Came for lunch after hearing great things about this place. The staff was very friendly and our waiter was amazing. My meal came with a side salad so I opted for Italian dressing and it was so fresh. I got the mac and cheese and the portion was massive, it can easily be shared. It was delicious though and had breadcrumbs and parsley on top. The restaurant itself is very nice and spacious. I've been here a lot over the years and it's very hit or miss, and most times it's a miss. The ambiance is loud as there's a lot going on in this place, such as birthdays and celebrations. More often than not I leave disappointed. I ordered the special, Bourbon Fried Chicken, and the chicken was tough and not very edible. The waiter was great and attentive. I've been to Karver's three or four times and each time except this time, it has been a very good experience. I ordered the French Dip this time and it was dry, dry, dry, even with the jus. With that said, I did mention this to our waiter and he did comp our dessert, which was very nice. I am still giving Karver's four stars because the other times I've been here, the food was very good. So I would absolutely come back and order something different. Karvers is one of my go-to spots for a sit-down meal with family and friends. From salads and sandwiches to wraps and burgers to seafood and quesadillas, there's something for everyone on the menu. My favorite dish is the pan-seared salmon with mashed potatoes and vegetables -- it's incredibly tasty. The waitstaff has always been friendly and lively, and there's a little patio outside you can dine on when the weather's nice. Every time I've been to Karvers (which is a lot, and usually for dinner), it's crowded. That says a lot about the restaurant itself, but keep that in mind before visiting. The food and service at this location is fresh and it tastes good! I highly recommend! The ranch especially... oh wow it's so good!

My wife and I had dinner there last night as we often do on a Sunday. It was probably our 30th time there. She had the shrimp kabob that is a new feature on the menu. She absolutely loved it! In fact, I had one of her shrimps, which was a good size and very tasty . I had the turkey club. The turkey was tender and delicious, but my only issue was with the lack of bacon. I found a few small pieces but was a bit disappointing because I love the bacon there. Everything else was fine, including my favorite homemade potato chips! I've had so many different selections in the past, but I thought I'd give this one a try. I'll probably have it again at some point in the future, however, I will make a point to the wait person to make sure they put a good two slices on the sandwich instead of skimping. I'm giving this a 5 despite the bacon issue because Karvers is still one of our favorite local spots. Looking forward to our return in a week or two. read more

Delicious! Your all american spot that really does have something for everyone. And the food is actually good! Flatbreads, pasta, hamburgers, even the kids were happy with their meals. We had mozzarella sticks, mac and cheese, a thai flatbread and a burger and everything was cooked perfectly. The portion sizes were great, slightly bigger than your average which is so hard to find these days...Good food, good prices, and great service? Karvers has it all. Our food came pretty fast, staff were attentive and we were able to get in and out in a reasonable amount of time. Definitely recommend making reservations. I didn't think it'd fill up fast but as soon as we sat down, it was table after table being filled. Can't go wrong and we can't wait to come back soon! read more

When my brother visited my our Dad on Long Island, he told me of a really good restaurant that they dined in called Karvers. It was a mental bookmark to try this local restaurant when I returned to Long Island. Throughout the week that I visited my Dad in May 2024, driving we'd see that the Karvers parking lot was always busy. This supported my brother's glowing words for the establishment.    It was on my last day of the May 2024 trip that I suggested dining here before flying out of Islip. Because, time was running out on Long Island soil, I was more into focusing attention on my dad and thinking of the pending flight.    When we walked into Karvers, the Hostess immediately welcomed us. The fine service lasted throughout the meal. We sat at a table near the door. The booth was comfortable with views of the sports playing on TV. As far as ambiance, it felt like I was in a combination pub and modern restaurant with a warehouse ceiling.    We arrived at lunch when the lunch specials were still active. The pizza burger lunch special drew my attention. I am a fan of the pizza burger which brings me back to my childhood enjoying them in Long Island diners. The simple fact is that in 2024, they are less common on restaurant menus. Especially in Las Vegas where I was about to fly to.   The pizza burger lunch special cost $19. It included soup of the day or house salad with a bucket of fries or homemade potato chips, and cole slaw. The bottomless Coke that I ordered was an additional cost to the meal. The soup of the day was lemon with orzo soup. Being a soup lover, I enjoyed it. But! Not as much as the pizza burger and fries. The pizza burger stuffed between the warm ciabetta buns tasted just the way I like my hamburgers. It was complimented by mozzarella cheese, marinara sauce, lettuce, onions, and tomato. I felt that the lettuce, onions, and tomato helped elevate the pizza burger to four stars. With just the right amount of marinara sauce, a stickiness issue was nonexistent. The fries were flavorful and warm. During lunch, before the place is happening in the later hours, the environment is conducive to conversations. To extend my May 2024 trip with my dad, I ordered a cup of coffee. In similar fashion to the meal, it was really good.    Continuing the glowing words for Karvers and the consistently busy parking lot showing it's popularity, I would like to add my three cents in. Good spot for good eats and to watch some sports games! This was my 3rd time here -- made a 8:30 reservation for 2 on a Friday night and was seated right away in a bar area booth. Service was quick and attentive. Have mixed reviews on the drinks -- 2nd round tasted very different from the first, Greek Mule was good, Lavender Lemon Rain was OK. Things were a bit pricey for the quality, though. Spent more than anticipated. Wouldn't mind coming back -- they have a cool outdoor patio area with heaters too. read more

Why did it take me so long to try this place? I really, really like it. Saturday night, Labor Day weekend and the place was jammed and all for the right reasons. Great food, solid service & a relaxing ambiance (for a place packed with families. Had the "angry mussels" as an app (one of their daily specials and awesome). Plump mussels in a spicy marinara sauce with crispy toast to dunk till your hearts content...and we did). The rib eye steak was juicy, flavorful and cooked to a perfect medium rare. Honestly, one of the best that I've had in a while and if you look at this price point (around $36 I believe), it's a tasty, tasty bargain. The BBQ ribs were okay with a nice KC-style sauce, though a bit over done (the meat should never fall off the bone). But, like the rib eye, flavorful. All things said, I can't wait to go back for more. Plenty of parking (and the way this place packs out, they need it!), seem to take all cards and a perfect place for large groups, family dinners or a nice night out. ...Did I mention those mussels? read more

Met some friends for dinner and after a small wait we were seated ( expected that fit a Saturday evening). Were greeted warmly by our waitress and offered some appetizer recommendations along with the beer options. Ordered a steak and was cooked to my specifications although my friends had to be sent back as his was too raw for his tastes. Waitress apologized and graciously accommodated his request. Even offered a free desert to him for the inconvenience. Restaurant was packed and alittle noisy but again expected that. We visit Karvers as we're locals. The food & drink are ALWAYS great. Never disappointed.

First timers here on a Friday evening. I called ahead to ask how long the wait was at 7pm and I was told there was no wait for a party of 3. The parking lot was busy a half hour later but we easily found a spot. People were waiting outside. We got to the hostess station and saw people eating outside. (It was quite chilly.) To our surprise, we were told again that there was no wait and we we escorted to a table inside of a small room in the front of the building. On our way there, I couldn't help but notice how extremely loud the main part of the restaurant was. I am glad we were not seated in there. We had a few minutes to look at our menus before our waiter appeared. When he arrived, he was kind and and answered a bunch of questions for us. He made suggestions and seemed to know the food items well. We ordered a kids mozzarella sticks which came with a tiny plastic cup of apple juice, a 1/2 a rack of smoked baby back ribs dinner which comes with mashed potatoes, cole slaw and a pickle, (we asked for the mashed potatoes to be subbed with vegetables (no charge) and the Sante Fe Cobb Salad. The food was brought out by a runner. The rib dinner came with fries?, not the vegetables we asked for. The mozzarella sticks had a lot of grated cheese on top of them, which to a kid may be yucky (it did get dumped off to the side) and came with fries. And the size of the salad was deceiving. The runner was told about the fries/vegetables and took the fries away and a minute later, brought over a hot bowl of mixed vegetables. At that time was when we realized that there were no utensils on the table, which the runner went to grab as well. The salad had sliced grilled chicken on top which was a tad overcooked and made it dry. The mozzarella sticks were "very good" despite the cheese on top and the fries were "fries" lol. The ribs were delicious, as were the vegetables. We were checked on by the waiter twice. The cars kept coming (we had a view of the parking lot as our table was literally on the sidewalk). The other room got even louder, if that's possible. But we enjoyed our food and the company. When the check came, I was surprised to see that the salad cost more than the ribs! But it was rather large (took half home). They just need to get bigger pieces of chicken and not over cook it. 4 stars for the food. 4 stars for the service. I look forward to going back and trying other things on the menu. read more
