Absolutely loved this place! I came out for a family member's birthday and was not disappointed at all! I made reservations and was seated right away. They have a whole indoor area with a half outside eating area and bar location. We sat out on the back dock area where the boats were. They had great music and great vibes! And the music wasn't blasting so I could hear everyone at my table. Our waiter was sweet younger man who explained the menu options for us and dealt with my annoying request. He knew the menu and was very attentive. The food was delicious and super fresh! I will definitely make this my new spot to go when visiting my uncle out in the island! This place is a rip off. I ordered a salad $16 and my husband ordered poke bowl $26. With tip it's only supposed to be $50 something but our card got charged $85!?!? I mean seriously? I filed a dispute claim on this coz that's ridiculous! We waited 1 hour for our food to arrive very slow service. They even put some dried cranberries in my salad which was not in the description in the menu and I absolutely hate dried cranberries! It's really not worth it. Friday night dinner with family and friends. Sat outdoors on the floating deck. Real cool. Music, lit, DJ was so amazing. It was surprisingly not crowded for a Friday night which in a way was a good thing. Food was good but on the pricey side. 2 glasses of Rosé (seemed like half a glass each time) totaled to $32, my nephew ordered the King crab claws at MP (I was not paying attention so didn't see his order until it arrived) this on its own was a whooping $95!! Average entree prices were about $30-$45. Appetizers were nice especially the Ahi Tuna salad, coconut jumbo shrimp, and fried calamari. The food was ok. I think I preferred the appetizers. The music, great! the waitress, awesome! but be mindful of the prices....you may be shell shocked! read more

My Wife and I had justt been through trhe Passing of My Mother and a very close friend, so we wanted to go and have a good Seafood Meal. Both of us being foodies, we know good food, and good Seafood and THIS WAS NOT IT!! We started with the Crab Soup, and the Mixed Crab/ Lobster Soup, which Sounded great. When I tasted it it was Cold Gelatinous Extremely Salty Bland Horendously inedible. We sent itt back to be heated and it did not help.. The Waiter (Who Was Great and very nice) took them off the Bill... The Coconut Shrimp Was Definitely Frozen Shrimp, We know Fresh Seafood.. Even the drinks were bad.. Watered down Lemonade and Coke that tasted like the lines hadnt been cleaned in a year.. WE WERE AFRAID TO GET THE MAIN COURSE.. We thought of cancelling and leaving but we were committed. I had ordered the Surf & Turf and my wife the Harbor Bake.. Both were made to sound Delish!! and I wanted some Lobster.. What Arrived was more of the same.. Like the "Chef" did his Shopping at Price club in the fozen food section and then let it sit in the freezer for 6 months. The Shrimp were awful, the Lobster and everything Bland and Tasteless.. 1 out of 10... I think Ive made my point,. SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY and do not go.. The Chefs name is Boyardee and I was embarrassed to have taken my wife there.. how they can serve food like that and stay in business is Frightening. The prices were outrageous considering what we paid for were what youd pay for Fresh Seafood. ($42 entree's). Not Frozen Bland, quite frankly , Garbage. The Ambiance was not a factor.. I thought the experience here was fair, but nothing more. It's in a really nice location on the Patchogue river so there's decent enough views, especially with their outdoors seating. I had a grouper sandwich, but it didn't really have any flavor and there wasn't much sauce on it. I tried their coconut shrimp for an app and it wasn't anything special either. Service was ok, but not spectacular. One thing that was pretty big miss was when a strong wind gust took 2 table umbrellas (one was ours) and flew them over the fence into the parking lot. Things like that can happen nearly anywhere, but the fact that no one from the staff even noticed or did anything about it for about 10 mins was sort of shocking. Perhaps we didn't catch them on their best day, but with other waterfront option nearby - I would probably try several of them before I come back here. read more

First time won't be the last. The service was friendly and efficient. Little Neck clams in February suprisingly fresh and succulent. Baked clams were ginormous and loaded with chopped clams. Grouper tacos were delicious and generous. The lobster roll was on a par with the best I've had in Cape Cod. read more

In my past review and experiences I always defended this place; I'm not sure why because time after time it's a waste of time... and money. The Harbor Crab is the creepy guy down the dark alley on the outskirts of town in my eyes, even after a remodel the place feels like sadness and regret. They have decent options but all will cost you an arm and a leg more than it's worth. Recently they charged me $21 for tortilla chips with about a single crab leg minced on top when the total should be $17+tax according to the menu. The service always leaves something to be desired as does the atmosphere. If you sit on the tin deathtrap sauna docked by the bar, you may die from heat stroke so don't be fooled by its unique charm. The Creepy Crab will just about always disappoint and rip you off, I highly suggest not dining or drinking here. Prices have skyrocketed with Patchogues growing popularity not that it was ever cheap. Good calamari any way you get it, and great mussels as well, but you'll pay as if you were at a fine dining establishment. The cranky old men behind the bar are slow as molasses and the young ones must be following suit, not really giving a crap about much of anything. The taps usually taste like the lines need to be cleaned and it's just a sad excuse of a restaurant. I'd rather go almost anywhere else in patchogue and I'm sort of mad I ever gave them so many chances. They have some appetizing looking special events on the website but I'm almost positive they'll find a shady way to screw the customer in the end. read more

I don't know exactly how this place gets anything better than a 2 (or really, 1 1/2 star) rating. Read the other reviews and PAY ATTENTION TO THE OTHER 1 AND 2 STAR REVIEWS - these are all absolutely on target, and I wish I had taken them more seriously before deciding to try this joint. For starters, it's dirty. The tables are dirty, the floor is dirty.. everything seems like it hasn't been cleaned in weeks. I could forgive that, given it's supposed to be a "crab" place, but let's face it - the food is garbage. Clearly frozen seafood that's been overcooked. You get better quality crab at Red Lobster, at a tiny fraction of the price. My wife doesn't like fish, so had the "special" ribeye steak that was mostly fat, and 1/2 of it barely edible. That, plus 2 drinks cost $150 clams after tip and a "surcharge" for using a credit card (which is a disgrace, considering nobody walks around with enough cash to pay an average bill at this dump). Service is slow, and not very bright. Had to wait 15 minutes after the table was cleared before we could find anyone to ASK for the check, and another 20 minutes to actually get it, and then have it taken/returned. What a joke. Even if you say "there's a great view", let's face it - there's better views to be had, at a fraction of the price. read more

This place is the best place to come if you are a seafood lover. Red Lobster who? Harbor Crab blows these guys out of the water with real food, taste, and freshness! Today I ended up eating here with my mother and my boyfriend for restaurant week. My mother and I decided to order from the restaurant week menu while my boyfriend went with the seafood supreme (which is the best dish to get here btw). For $28.95 you receive a 3 course meal. I had the crab cakes as a starter, lobster and crab ravioli and for dessert the cherry cheesecake rolls. My crabcake was amazing! It was paired with tomato, lettuce and this delicious sauce to dip it in. The lobster and crab ravioli was so fresh and well prepared. I love how nothing is overly salty, the food is prepares just right with excellent flavor. The dessert I did not care for too much. The service and food here is outstanding! You can choose to eat on the boat part or the main inside part. I love both but we avoided the boat part because it smelled moldy for some reason tonight. I met up with my friend after work for some dinner and drinks. I love lobster rolls and I had to try their take and I was very disappointed. It was probably one of the worst lobster rolls I've ever tried. The baked clams, lava cake and ice tea were all delicious. I think the vibe is cool here and service . I love places by the water . And what was even better was the service! Our server's name was Gyle. She was so attentive and so knowledgeable of the menu and had a wonderful personality. We've been there twice. I have gotten a burger twice, and have been very pleased both times! Mother got a fish taco, and wasn't as thrilled, but it's hard to speak for her because who knows. Our server was kind and attentive, and the restaurant was cool-right on the water with the old-school fisherman's paneling. There's an option to eat out on the dock on a nice day, or pull your boat up. Not sure how to get into the big paddle boat... but I've never asked! Will definitely return :) read more

Came here the other night for my husband's birthday. We made a 7pm reservation and I had asked for outside on the boat. We came and we're promptly sat in a wonderful spot on top of the boat. Our waitress Kara was awesome, so nice and attentive. The menu had alot to offer. We split a few things; wings, mussels (to much red sauce), baked clams and a lobster roll and I got sweet potato fries with it. The fries and the sauce it came with were so good I am still thinking about it. My only complaint was the mussels the sauce came in tasted like ragu. Drinks were good as well. Just had the lobster nachos at the bar with Kara as our bartender. The nachos were absolutely delicious and Kara made some amazing drinks for us. They were busy and the hostess really didn't give us a pleasant greeting. Kinda felt like I was disturbing her since I didn't have a reservation. It put an immediate damper on the experience. What a great seafood date place! I can't say enough great things about this place! You can actually dine on a boat or outside of the weather is nice enough. Great views and a great band playing really set the night off right. We started off with mahi tacos, crunchy and delicious. Really hit the spot from the beginning. If you like spicy, the seafood fra diavolo is A MUST! It came with a salad, we opted for a cup of corn & crab chowder which was really thick and tasty. Went during restaurant week. My husband had the chicken parm. Served with penne alla vodka. A bit odd. It was decent but I've always had it served with a red sauce. Coconut shrimp lacked flavour. Had to ask for the marmalade that it was suppose to have been served with. Crab topped scallops were tasty and perfectly cooked but not plentiful, only 3 in my meal. Great experience at Harbor Crab, all of their staff were super friendly and the food was excellent. We had Thai calamari and baked clams for appetizers which were excellent. For dinner we got the harbor bake and crab fest to share. They gave generous portions and the food was delicious. The crab and lobster meat is was delicious, the mussels and clams tasted so fresh. Despite how busy she was, nothing went untouched I am a seasoned veteran of the restaurant business particularly the server side of the business and I was extremely impressed with how friendly accommodating and attentive she was!! She kept a smile on her face through out our entire meal!!! I could tell she was a little weeded but that didn't reflect the type of service we received!!! Also Your bus girl as well was amazing!!! Had a pleasant first experience here. LOCATION: near main street Patchogue, next to the Patchogue bowling alley. (I recommend parking at the bowling alley as the parking at the restaurant is pretty packed). DECOR: very cute and summery, main seating area is a big boat house on the water. But also there is another smaller building with a couple bars and some seating outdoors with live music. FOOD: for appetizers I ordered mozz sticks (average), baked clams (good), coconut shrimp (very good). Ordered Lobster Roll for dinner - very good, generous amount of lobster meat on a big toasted soft bun, came with fries and side salad. DRINK: ordered the Peach iced tea cocktail, had a good amount of alcohol in it and nice flavoring. SERVICE: waitress was friendly and efficient. Overall had a good experience. We made a reservation and were seated right away. We also got a great spot upstairs on the boat house right next to the windows so we had a great view of the water. The only negative I have was there were so many spiders hanging outsidr/inside the window areas lol. Took Mom here for Mother's Day 5/12/2024. It was outstanding. Michelle was so wonderful. Mom wasn't happy with what she ordered, not that it was bad, I tasted it. Michelle appeared from out of nowhere immediately seeing something was amiss, and asked if everything was ok, it was like magic. After Mom fussing a bit, because she never sends food back. Michelle insisted that she immediately have a new dish prepared, which really impressed me. Kudos Michelle just perfect service, don't see that level of service, and a true desire to provide the perfect dinning experience these days, and I eat out a lot. Wait service was good, a little slow but it was very busy, so it was understandable. Food was delicious, the atmosphere was very friendly and inviting. The waterfront view Michelle gave us was just perfect. All in all a perfect day for Mom, which is exactly what I was looking to provide Mom. I would recommend going to Harbor Crab highly.
