Now I've pervious performed at and attended over 100 open mics, at different bars, venues, houses etc, and believe me when I say this was one of my all-time favorite. All the musicians were super talented, the host was a pro's pro, and the audience were incredibly supportive & engaging. The space just felt warm, friendly and had a calm yet electric buzz the entire evening. Also, the bartender, Penny, really seemed to set the tone for the entire bar. She is extremely welcoming, witty and just an all-around positive person. You can tell she really enjoys her job and makes sure that her patrons are having a good time. I was sticking to non-alcoholic ginger beer all night and she only charged me $2 each, how kind is that?! All in all, a true gem of a bar with an open mic that I will 1,000% return to.

The wings are the star here, an amazing selection of sauces. We tried five, including mango habanero and sweet chili, ordered well done with sauce on the side so the kids could customize theirs. We also got the black Angus burger cooked medium rare, cooked perfectly, plus chicken tenders for the kids. Save room for dessert, the ice cream cookie pizza, Reese's peanut butter pie, and funnel cake fries were all fantastic. Snacking on a side of fries on our way home was the perfect ending to the day as they have amazing fresh French fries and I'm not a fry person. Also their version of burger sauce is pretty in point. There's a solid cocktail menu, but I had a couple glasses of a better-than-decent prosecco. My cousin loved his espresso martini. For food, count on a couple respectable vegan entrees and I went with the Japanese eggplant with cashew ricotta. The eggplant is delicious, slightly sweet with a creamy rather than chewy (thank god) texture. The cashew ricotta is also tasty, but I do think it needed to be blended a bit more to remove the slightly grainy texture (the cashews might have needed more soaking). My father loved his French onion soup and pastrami sandwich. Separate paragraph for the fries. They deserve it. I'm glad we ordered these to share- it's an enormous platter of them. I appreciated that they were salted perfectly. I appreciate restaurants that can make satisfy a variety of preferences and dietary restrictions. But I had a very unusual interaction with our waitress. We paid the bill and left, and the waitress came outside CHASING me and my family yelling "excuse me, did I do something wrong?" What? Turns out, I calculated the tip wrong (im bad at math and messed up) and tipped 18% instead of 20%. My brother helped me calculate it correctly, but to CHASE a family out because of an 18% tip is CRAZY. Most of these "up and coming" bullshit places in Patchogue need to go.
