I will admit, I haven't been to Arooga's since 2017, and I didn't have a good experience. I swore I'd never return..I kept that promise until today after 4 years of living in Patchogue and I was pleasantly surprised! I stopped in for lunch, and I must say they have one of the best lunch offerings in town. A full entree with choice of side (fries, chips or slaw), and a fountain drink for only $13! I ordered the tavern chicken sandwich without the bun and it was very good! It was topped with some delicious smoked Gouda cheese and it also had bacon, shrooms, tomato and honey mustard. I chose fries as my side which were nice and crispy and seasoned well. Now normally this sandwich is $18. You can't beat this lunch special at all! Service was lovely. I opted to sit at the bar. Caroline was my bartender and she was a delight. I'm glad to see they improved from my last visit nearly 10 years ago. I definitely plan on returning again! read more

Came here with my boyfriend to celebrate his 21st birthday on Sunday and honestly the whole experience was just embarrassing, mainly because of one female bartender. She took his food order, was super specific with him, and then just walked away without even asking if I wanted anything. I was literally the only girl in the group, sitting right there, and she didn't even look at me. Instead, she walks across the bar and starts gossiping with some random guy about drama between him and his girlfriend the last time they were there. Like girl... maybe do your job instead of trying to stir up someone else's relationship? My boyfriend ended up having to track down the male bartender (who was actually great) just so l could order food. And as if that wasn't enough, when it came time to close out, she turns to my boyfriend and goes, "For your birthday I'm gonna give you a free blowjob shot," then says, "You take it the way you like your blowjobs... no hands," in this gross, sultry tone-right in front of me. Completely outta pocket. Then after he takes the shot, she goes, "You hate me now, but you'll remember me forever," and hands HIM the bill, expecting a tip for whatever that little performance was supposed to be? (Hell no he wasn't paying!) And the cherry on top, when she asked if HE wanted a box even though I had barely touched my burger (due to this entire experience) and when I responded with a "yes" she only brought ONE BOX!! As we're leaving, she had the nerve to turn to me on the way out and start telling me the bar hours and drink specials, like I'd ever come back after being ignored and disrespected the whole night. I've worked in the service industry too, and I've never seen anything this unprofessional. When I told friends who weren't even there what happened, they knew exactly who I was talking about... down to her hair, height, and eye color. So clearly this isn't a one-time thing with her, and honestly that says a lot about this place if they're just letting it slide. I'm not sure if giving flirty free birthday shots in hopes of extra tips will fly well with a good management team, but if that's the vibe Arooga's is cool with, it speaks volumes. We won't be back. Good and bad here. I ordered via Postmates so I expected things to be a bit off. The good: Lots of bleu cheese in the black and blue burger "Pink" temperature was exactly how I wanted it--medium rare (if you like it cooked more than medium rare DO NOT select pink) Caramelized onions were on point. Bacon cooked perfectly. The bad: Cold, cold soggy fries--not typical delivery cold and soggy, like left out for an hour before boxed cold and soggy. This was extra disappointing because I paid extra for the cheese and bacon fries. Burger meat itself wasn't that good. It was cooked perfectly but it tasted too lean for a good burger. Worst part--I added a mountain dew and they sent me a half full (literally) bevi that was running out of syrup so it just tasted like seltzer. This location seems to be in disarray and is a source of embarrassment to those working diligently to enhance and revitalize the image of Downtown Patchogue. Having visited their other Arooga's Bars/Restaurants in Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Connecticut (which has since closed), I am convinced that this establishment should follow suit. My experiences at the Patchogue location have consistently left much to be desired, with bartenders preoccupied with their cell phones to the detriment of customer service. In one instance, a group of friends (approximately 8-10) and I waited over 20 minutes for even basic acknowledgment from a bartender who seemed disinterested and unengaged. Not only was the service lackluster, but the food was mediocre, at best. After being there for a couple of hours and when the clock struck 9 PM, what can only be described as an inexplicable occurrence unfolded--serving sizes dramatically decreased, and glasses were replaced with tiny plastic cups, for double the price, under the guise of crowd management and safety protocols. This abrupt change combined with a disregard for customer satisfaction left a sour taste in mine and my friend's mouths! Buy backs?? What is that, they've never heard of a buy back after spending a few $100's at the bar amongst a bunch of us no one was offered a buy back and to make matters worse the staff's attention was diverted towards creating severely intoxicating alcoholic concoctions called "Arooga's Trash Cans", intended to do nothing more than to inebriate their very young crowd instead of tending to basic service needs of the slightly older, more mature customers who were there from earlier in the evening and who simply wanted to have a few drinks, eat and watch the game on TV! These bartenders apparently not only know who their regulars were/are but also knew by the drinks they were ordering (one's like the Arooga's Trash Can, that was clearly made to just get someone as inebriated as fast as possible) so they would get the best tips from them! Oh in case you didn't know Arooga's Trashcan is made of Long Island Iced Tea base, blue Curaçao, fresh sours, Red Bull or Red Bull Sugarfree, straight from their website!! As Patchogue seeks to revitalize its downtown area, it is imperative to reassess the presence places like Arooga's in the community. Perhaps replacing it with a more reputable establishment like TGI Fridays, Buffalo Wild Wings, Applebee's or heck bring back Okey Dokey's if they must include a chain restaurant, would align better with the vision of a welcoming and family-friendly locale mixed with a sports bar atmosphere, if not than the management at this location must be more vigilant in overseeing the conduct of their staff bartenders, waitresses/waiters and bouncers included to uphold a somewhat respectable dining experience. It is crucial that downtown Patchogue retains its charm and integrity, and any detrimental impact from establishments like Arooga's should be swiftly addressed and rectified. Think my review is wrong go and read the reviews of their already closed Shelton, Connecticut location and compare it to the other reviews here and they are nearly identical, so why is that? I went the other day for the first time in almost a year and ordered a chicken sandwich. I asked for a plain which is cheese, and when he came back, it had all the condiments on it and the bread crumbs all ripped off the bottom of it I sent it back the manager took it and said they would make me a new one. The one they brought out was darker, and all the breadcrumb was missing from the bottom. It was the one that he said he was going to re-cook for me. Meaning make a new one it smells like the pickles and all the other stuff. I had the hostess smell it and she agreed that's pretty sad when you send something back and they tell you they going to give new and they really make the one that you got and tell you they made it very sad. I won't be going back anymore. That is the worst thing to do is just give someone back what went back to get a replacement. read more

Glad we finally came in to try Arooga's in patchogue. The actual restaurant is massive with tons of seating, it's a sports bar atmosphere so plenty of tv's to watch the games. The food was delicious and surpassed expectations completely, we got the appetizer sampler which consisted of cheeseburger sliders, boneless wings, mozzarella triangles, & pierogis none of which tasted like your typical chain type food. The burgers were great as well. Pulled Pork n Bacon Mac: 3.5/5 Brunch burger: 5/5 Bleu N Bacon Burger: 4/5 Boneless wings: 5/5 The sampler: 4/5 (Worth mentioning) Sweet potato fries:5/5 solely for the sauce they're served with. This place has tons of specials throughout the week, an extensive menu with something for everyone, an impressive tap list, & most importantly quality food. Very reasonably priced as well. Arooga's.....what's an Arooga? A bird? Fish? Perhaps a sports bar/restaurant in the middle of Patchogue? That one works. This past Sunday's expedition to this interestingly named spot was a nice intro to the area, though I'm hoping for a little more next time. My hopes didn't stop the hoards of people who came out to watch the Pat's/Steelers game. The number of TV's is almost unprecedented and could probably give Buffalo Wild Wings a run for their money. Actually, Arooga's is like BWW's quirky cousin. Instead of black and yellow coloring and little buffalo images you have red and blue walls and giant "A's." Their menus match up similarly except Arooga's takes it to a whole other level. Haven't read a book lately? Try reading that! Pages and pages and pages of choices. We had a tough time deciding what to get, but I suppose that's a good thing? First off, drinks. Plenty of beers with a couple of intriguing choices. For one, Arooga's Amber Ale. Not a bad start with it's smooth, crisp flavor. From there, we moved on to grub, landing on a couple of apps to start off in fried pickle spears and mozzarella triangles. The spears were covered in a nice breading though fell out easily after first bite. I only tried a piece of the triangles and they sufficed. Onward to the main dishes. In trying to maximize my menu tasting, I went with 5 boneless wings covered in one of their plethora of sauces ("almost everything" is the name) and accompanied it with the bleu and bacon chips (I shared). The wings sounded awesome as they combined a bunch of rich and spicy flavors together to get this desired sauce, but meh. Not much kick, not much distinct taste. I mean, if I was truly nuts I could order one "Ghost Faced Killa" wing and watch my face melt off, but instead I'll consider something with more punch....but not that much. The bleu chips were thickly cut and smothered in cheese and bacon. My favorite part of the meal. The service was pretty good despite our waitress admitting she "just woke up" as she needed us to repeat a few of our orders. Beyond that, we were checked on a couple of times throughout. Price-wise was acceptable too and was a decent start to finish. Overall, I still don't entirely know what an Arooga is, but I know what it's like (cousin, remember?). I'm not sure Arooga's will ever blow me away, but I'm willing to come back (for a different, less annoying sporting event) to check out some more of their novella menu. 3.5 if you're wondering. read more

This place screams mancave! TVs everywhere to watch the various sports games. My boyfriend and I decided to give this place a try seeing it's a new establishment in Patchogue. This place is super clean, modern and well designed. You have the option of eating near the bar or in the back dining area. We chose the dining area in the back. The coolest part of this place is that they have TVs located at each individual booth. Talk about awesome! Our server was the only downside of this place. He was too fast and did not return to check on us after we got our meals. My boyfriend ordered the pulled pork sandwich and I ordered the Spicy Italian wrap. I loved my wrap, however there wasn't a spicy element to it at all. The fries were awesome! Crispy and well seasoned fries are always a plus. I tasted my boyfriend's sandwich and it was really good. A very different type of restaurant for Patchogue as it's your typical franchise, but if there's any place to go and watch ANY game or sports related news, this is your place. Its jam packed with TVs of all sizes on the walls, over the bar, and even in the bathroom so you don't miss a minute. The food here is OK at best, I havent had anything that's wowed me and would stick to a burger if anything. They do have drink specials which are new and pretty good considering they have tough competition around town. Happy Hour is from 5-7 so you better get in there quick for half off everything at the bar. Pro Tip: Pitchers of beer are usually $16...get them during HH for $8 as long as the beer listed doesn't have a * next to it. read more

When I first heard of a big chain coming to patchogue I was pretty disappointed in the town for allowing it; I'm sure "new village" gets to charge them a ton in rent but why can't we diversify and support local... Anyway, I gave it a try, I heard great things, and I will say the menu is huge; from create your own cheese steaks and Stromboli, to wings and burgers, the do have it all. The problem is it's still just another crappy chain. I'm not going to sit here and tell you I didn't enjoy the boneless wings or the short shorts on our waitress but it's all so typical of fast food America. I'd go back and try a couple things. It I can't see myself liking much of it. They have a bunch of taps. It it's all sorta lack luster normal beer if you're into craft so I wouldn't suggest it unless you're more of a bud light drinker who's just starting to explore the craft world. If you want to get some buds together for game night then you will enjoy the massive TVs in every line of sight. The potato soup came highly recommended- mine had undercooked bacon but was super cheesy; Eh. My buddy devoured his tomato soup but I can't speak to how good or bad it was... I have a pretty good idea that I'd be a snob and push it away though. The crab pretzel is awful, don't get it, the pretzel itself wasn't great and the cheesy crab stuff on top tasted icky. The sampler platter came with pierogi, chicken wings, sliders, mozz sticks, and fries. They basically put the fries that are decent under everything else so they get soggy and less decent; They top them with a sorry excuse for a pierogi, dry as hell baby sliders, and a few boneless wings with whatever sauce you choose from their deceivingly small list of mostly varying buffalo sauces they claim to have won awards for. I'd like to go back to try some of the sauces to be honest; they've got ghost face killah sauce for extra and you can buy one wing to try it for two bucks a pop-- kinda cool actually I may try it and run over to the fire station one night. Mango jerk sounds incredible as does a couple others. The Korean BBQ was pretty good. Oh, and the sampler had mozz sticks too. They were good and fine but the marinara was trash. Unmmm. Yeah I have no need to go back other than maybe trying more wings and sandwiches I'm sure I'll be let down with. To drink: I suggest the Kirsch Gose by victory just because I enjoy it To eat: I'd stick to the boneless wings and move along. The menu is a huge trap.
