We were looking for a kid friendly place for a Friday night dinner so we figured we would give Standard Rec a try. It is definitely kid friendly and there were a lot of families so we felt right at home. Our server was very friendly and the place has a cool vibe although the furniture was uncomfortable and the table was too small to be really able to play a game and also have food on the table. We were a little underwhelmed by the menu option but we were all able to find something to order. Our main issue is that our food across the board was pretty bland and the portions were small for the pricing. The breading on the kids chicken fingers was coming off when we tried to slice it and my mac and cheese desperately needed salt.

*"The" best bartender I've had the pleasure to be served by, Joey Standard Rec, I've been patiently waiting to sample your finest! My friends, since Junior High no less have become, I'll be nice, more reserved. We all had a chance to go out and they all choice Ruth's Chris. Fun? Yes but I want a different vibe as I get older. It's Saturday night, gimme a cocktail! And a well crafted one as well. Looking at the cocktail menu, I see Standard Rec is mixing up some incredible drinks. My wife and I had a half day on Friday. I said let's grab a cocktail and lunch in Patchogue? I set the navigation system to Standard Rec. Walking up to the bar, I ask if we can sit here rather than a table. Not a problem sir. So far so good. I ask Joey the bartender to make this Gin Cocktail with Tanguay 10. He laughs and said we don't have that here but let me make you an off the menu cocktail, Bees Knees. We start talking about cocktails and he is a true mixologist. Very impressed so far. We started with the homemade fried mozzarella. Freshly made cheese in a tasty red sauce. This starter is amazing. Good for sharing, I highly recommend it. My lunch comes, my wife & I both ordered chicken sandwiches, I had the Korean Style chicken. Look at my picture: freshly baked ciabatta bread with chicken coated in Korean style sauce. Mmmm mm! My son said Standard Rec has a younger crowd on the weekends. Excuse me, my wife was Ms Pac Man champion in 1986! Young is a state of mind. Standard Rec, from the amazing cocktails to the great bar food, Keep rockin'!

Great drinks, games and food looks great. We went for cocktails and games, but will definitely eat next time. The atmosphere is fun and casual. It's a large place so able to handle a crowd, bring all your friends. They have all kinds of games from board games to pinball to Jenga. They do host private parties as well. There was one going on while we were there and the food looked really nice. We were just coming in for drinks and to hang out a bit, but I will definitely keep them in mind for the next time as a great place to get a bite.

Me and my girls went out for my birthday dinner and this place was amazing! Shout out to my server Taylor M! She was so attentive and made sure our drinks were always filled and our bellies were happy! It is a perfect spot for a date night, birthday celebration and great for kids! It's hard to find a restaurant in Patchogue that gives the energy of a bar yet child friendly!! I got the steak and frites and it was cooked perfectly! The prices are reasonable! At the end of our time our waitress gave me a birthday bag that had goodies in it! I felt so special! I recommend going and will rate standard rec 10/10 the vibes are vibing and I hope it stays around the Patchogue strip for a while!!

This restaurant is so cute! It has a great atmosphere, adorable menu, and really friendly service. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the chicken on top of our nachos was cold. Would like to return and try other items!

My favorite patchogue spot. Drinks are fantastic, bao buns and disco fries are perfect. Trivia & drag brunches always a hit. My old lady back hates the chairs, but the vibe is worth it. Love it here.

I cannot say enough about the brunch at standard rec!!! Obviously the first thing I have to say is that Ivy is absolutely amazing without her. I certainly wouldn't have gone for the brunch at all. But now that I have, I am hooked! The food is fantastic and you can't beat the Unlimited mimosas!!! A Great vibe and an amazing staff just make it the perfect time!

Amazing food and drinks and such a cute ambience! Great place to go with a group of friends.

This was the brunch menu they had .

Great place to go for some food , drinks , the service was great . They have games if you like games to play . They also do drag shows which I went for and a time was had . If you never went to a drag show here and seen ivy stalls you are missing out on everything . This place is a must go .

All kinds of amazing beverages including a disco ball cup!

So good, ate here twice in 5 days! Saturday drag brunch with Ivy Stalls! For a one person show, she did it all, DJ, host, trivia, dance dayummm she was fabulous! Drinks were also amazing so many options and a special menu for the Lady Gaga theme! One of our friends went for the unlimited espresso martini, our waitress was on point as soon as one was almost finished we thought we'd have to call her over and she was already there with a new full glass in hand. That is what service should be! I also love how their menu has variations in it. Several moments later ... we came in for Taco Tuesday! Another unique menu to choose some specialty items from. All superb and as suggested from other Yelpers we had the general tso's cauliflower, zero disappointment. Note the Crunchwrap's are filling. Two of us ordered individually and both took a half home. As far as decor and ambiance I want to say it's retro, but really 90's themed with a touch of elegance. Check out the deep colors and pineapple wall paper.

Came here for lunch with my boyfriend. So glad we came! I've had my eye on this place for months! Now that we live within walking distance it was the go to for lunch today. It's a barcade! You can't go wrong. Good drinks, good food, old school games and good vibes! We walked in through the back and saw all old school games. Ahh nostalgia! We were greeted and sat by our waitress Stephanie. She was great! We started with a special as an appetizer; chicken and waffle flatbread. It was delicious! All the flavors worked very well together. For my meal I had the chicken pesto sandwich. Very yummy! My boyfriend ordered the big mozz burger. He enjoyed it. For drinks we had some pumpkin beers and an Ecto Cooler cocktail. The Ecto cooler tasted just like it did when we were kids! Our bill was brought out in an old blockbuster type box. We will be back!

    Yummy tap Old Fashioned.

Came here on a Saturday night for a private dinner party followed by some drinks at the bar. Off…read morethe get go, customer service was great and offered a coat check free of charge for my jacket and umbrella since it was raining, definitely helped make it feel just a touch more upscale than your usual restaurant. Our wait staff was nothing but kind and patient with our moderately large party and checked up on us without being overbearing. Ambiance is very cool, and definitely leans into its classic and nostalgic feel of its name, but not in a campy way. If you bring a date here, they would be impressed by the nice tile and wooden features alone, but it's the food that is really going to blow them away, but we will get to that next. The menu and cocktails do rotate seasonally a bit, so your experience may vary on availability for some items, but if you come back often enough (and spoiler, you will want to), you'll see them comeback! We started with Caesar salad, calamari, and Korean fried wings with the easy standout being the fried wings, a bit spicy but delicious but buyer beware they are messy (don't worry though, they give you moist towelettes to clean yourself off), calamari was cooked exactly how it needed to be and not rubbery, and the Caesar salad was as good as I've had it anywhere (although there's was made with tahini, giving it a little sesame flair). For mains, we had a pesto pasta, steak frites with an au poivre sauce, with sides of jersey asparagus and mashed potatoes. Steak was cooked just right and I'd dip almost anything in that sauce, and the pesto pasta was a nice lighter and herby balance to the meal. Fries were perfectly crisp shoestring style and the other end of the potato spectrum was the delightfully smooth mashed potatoes and gravy. Asparagus has always been my favorite green, and adding a cream sauce with bacon only makes this version of it that much more enticing. Capping off with dessert, we had the chocolate Basque cheesecake, a brown sugar pie, and a pistachio cake. Choosing a favorite out of these is like choosing a favorite child I'm sure, but I am still craving more of that cheesecake, RUN do not walk to get that at the very least. Parking can be crazy in patchogue, there is a small attached lot and some street parking, but I'd advise using one of the municipal lots nearby and walking a little bit for your own sanity. One of my favorite dining experiences in patchogue to date, and will be happy to comeback here to try more of the menu for any occasion!

Decided on this review despite the…read moreindustry hatred and even more-so, wanna be industry haters, so I gave them a dozen tries over the past couple years.l, but this review is going to be too long, and it's going to contrast my first experience in a poor way. I'll say the cocktail program in this "Patchogue-chic" spot is solid and fantastic; Laura has poured me great drinks with good convo. Past nights Anthony showed great knowledge and skills behind the bar and one night readjusted my understanding of the history of the building (which I dig, I love that Shands General store was actually the oldest building in town and I'm glad it's a nod back to that, with brick house stepping out and its' sign remaining on the back of the building) I should say that basically, for the majority, the front of the house is great; Very few exceptions there but they do exist. A while back I had wanted a fresh pasta and to show someone the place, but Shands had beef Wellington on the menu and it's one of my favorites that you really don't see everywhere or splurge for often. So there it was, I knew my order, started with a French onion and short rib soup, but this had ZERO SHORT RIB and was pretty lack luster, & come to think of it, one of the least appealing French onion soups I've had, real unfortunate; the crouton/bread was so deteriorated it was as if it had been sitting in the broth for 2 days. A good French onion really should have the bread floated when broiling the cheese over the top to form a nice crust, instead the crouton was submerged and dissolved as the cheese was just a melty glob of what seemed to be presented more like a mozzarella than Gruyère or Swiss, but it had a sharpness in there I just don't know about this execution I guess... there was a lack of onion, and a lack of flavor, it needed depth which maybe the short rib gives it if "the chef is feeling generous enough that night " to include it. $20 soups for the both of us and only one of the bowls had any of the short rib, unfortunately for them, the douche who likes to post on Yelp is the one that didn't get any. butternut hummus was good... it came out looking like they dropped the bowl on the way over but no big deal My first time in, I had a heavenly, light and flavorful, melt you into a damn puddle, pasta dish; it was the Mafaldine at its best) Really miss those duck wings they sourced locally. Sad story about the local duck farm "Crescent". He had to euthanize his entire population due to a bird flu outbreak, they supplied 4% of the duck to the entire country but sadly had to close down at the end of january; the staff let me know and I had to research it quick. (I imagine this is an issue sweeping the nation as we've all seen egg prices explode) The prep that Shands did on those things... they were next level! Typically you'd think a duck wing would be a little less meat or a bit tougher than a chicken but they did really well making them so tender and heavenly, impressive work honestly; maybe they can pay homage with some other type... I'd try some ostrich wings... it would probably be like a bbq rib or something... I digress. On to the main show, the Wellington... The portion was indeed large, it was a nice cut of meat but this really should have been showcased better. I'm sure the staff at places like this think everything they do is perfect and I'm just a jerk for mentioning my dismay here on Yelp, but they served a beef Wellington where the inside of the puff pastry crust was soggy... the outside crust was cooked but a great Wellington has a FLAKY crust, this wasn't that. At this crazy price your beef Wellington should be perfect or at least satisfying. The rest of the technique on the dish was fine, it had the right stuff which shockingly I've had wellingtons where they didn't do the mushrooms or didn't do the prosciutto layer so I appreciated that. I'm also pretty sure they used Duxelles and cooked them down wonderfully which is an easy step to miss that could ruin everything. Wellington ain't easy to perfect, I myself don't work well with puff pastry and I cannot even make a halfway decent Wellington but in my humble opinion, this wasn't too great either. Overall, would I suggest you go and spend your own $300 on this meal? No. I can't tell you that your money is well spent here. I've been to countless cheaper, nicer, and tastier places that don't have pretension baked into the price. Long Island can be a wasteland sometimes. Good meals I've had here included things like the hanger steak, pasta dishes, duck wings, Brussels and hummus.. maybe even their squash blossoms if I remember right... it's possible that wasn't them though. The brunch: steak and eggs were glorious, but even better were my nieces pancakes! Holy crap, how do they get them so thick yet so airy, fluffy, and dreamy? You can spend less if you take a train to Manhattan but have a drink here, those are never a miss.

I've been to Main Street Patchogue a few times before and I'm always amazed at how it's now like Huntington, with tons of eateries, bars and places to hear live music. It was a busy late Spring Friday night and my cousin told me if we were there just two weeks later (ie, post Memorial Day), there would have been lines to get in anywhere. So make resos! I made one easily earlier that day and when we arrived around 7:30, it was not packed, but it is pretty loud in there even half full. Our waiter, Jonathan, expertly took such great care of us from start to finish, even taking my father's dad jokes in stride. There's a solid cocktail menu, but I had a couple glasses of a better-than-decent prosecco. My cousin loved his espresso martini. For food, count on a couple respectable vegan entrees and I went with the Japanese eggplant with cashew ricotta. The eggplant is delicious, slightly sweet with a creamy rather than chewy (thank god) texture. The cashew ricotta is also tasty, but I do think it needed to be blended a bit more to remove the slightly grainy texture (the cashews might have needed more soaking). My father loved his French onion soup and pastrami sandwich. Separate paragraph for the fries. They deserve it. I'm glad we ordered these to share- it's an enormous platter of them. I appreciated that they were salted perfectly. I appreciate restaurants that can make satisfy a variety of preferences and dietary restrictions. The vibe here is festive and vibrant and a great choice for groups and families.

Then I had the pulled pork slider, which was really good, but BABY... those short rib croquettes? To. Die. For. I also had to get my classic deviled eggs. A little heavy-handed on the paprika, but still solid. Drinks were half off, so of course I indulged. Started with an espresso martini because I needed something to jumpstart my day. Then I had a French martini because duh--I'm a French girl ‍. That one was good. Finished with my classic cosmo. Not gonna lie, I've had better, but it did what it needed to do and helped me forget my troubles for a couple hours. Also great playlist of music. I got there and they were playing Ska. Love me some Reel Big Fish and No Doubt. Mixed with some Motown and Bob Marley. Made me remember the good old days.

Firstly the packaging for delivery was superb. Everything arrived warm and neat. Straight to the point I would not order the kung pao kauliflower again, the cauliflower was cut into huge heads, which was a nice sized portion definitely shareable however it was definitely over dressed and a mush-fest. I actually gagged a little like it was meant to be baby food, to each their own though.
