If you want to talk ambiance, this place crowns the cake for the whole town. From board games, to a mini arcade, or the Blockbuster check receipt box, it just screams nostalgia. With an awesome Instagram boasting their latest events, you'll find something for everyone. They play it pretty safe with food, but also step outside of norms with fast-food elevated items. I gotta say, we loved it. The general tso cauliflower bites are a must. Plus their drinks have always been pretty top tier. Went on a Saturday from 4-7. It was packed when I arrived. Chill vibe. Very limited food items for myself as a celiac so I stuck with getting a drink. Lots of fried food options. One of my most favorite places in Patchogue. The most eclectic and cool setting, decor and vibes. The food is great. My favorite are veggie tacos and fish tacos - very fresh and just a perfect blend of everything. Favorite appetizer - the hummus bowl which in itself is like a meal too, so I share it with my daughter. And of course - the games galore (a bonus - free arcade games until 9pm on Tuesdays I think). Today I came in after walking around Patchogue asking businesses for small donation gift certificates for a special event for the Cradle of Aviation and they opened up at 3:00pm. I didn't asked for any gift certificates and wanted to just be a customer. I asked for a Manhattan and Andrew made my drink perfect! He also recommended the espresso Martini as I am a professional taste tester of that specific drink. It was on tap and it was really good. I did enjoy it and had to cut myself off after that. Just a 2 drink limit for me as I was done with work. I sat down and had great conversation with the gentleman. I have been there and had the Bacon Bourbon and it was seriously a great drink but they do not have that on the menu anymore. Ughhh but they are introducing a new smoked drink next week and I cannot wait to try it. No one on Main Street Patchogue has a smoked drink. Not even Whiskey Neat. I will come back next week with my wife. I also had drinks there from Kayla and these 2 professional mixologist are on point with their craft of drink making. I just please ask to bring back that bacon bourbon for me and the old menu surf and turf burger from Public House menu.... I love it. My husband and I recently went to Standard Rec for a date night. When you walk in, you're immediately in the bar area which is full of a ton of people having a great time, big TV screens, a small arcade and a wall of board and card games, at the disposal of the patrons. There is a separate section for tables which is much more quiet, but also doesn't make you feel too detached from the fun. When we were there there was live music and we could hear it very well but also could hear each other very well when we were sitting at our table, so the restaurant section is perfectly situated. We started with the Brisket Quesadillas. They were absolutely fantastic. I ordered a Rocket Pop Cocktail after consulting our server Steven. It was soooo delicious! Tasted exactly like a Rocket Pop. I got the Saucy Smash Burger for dinner and my husband got the Brisket Grilled Cheese. We were blown away by how fresh and delicious our meals were. Lastly, for dessert, we ordered the ice cream tacos. Absolutely adorable and a perfect end to our meal. We also went and got Trivial Pursuit while we were eating, and had a great time playing the game while enjoying all this delicious food. We will absolutely, without a doubt, be back again. read more

I love everything about the standard rec except when there games are broken. I love it here! The drinks, the food, the service, the atmosphere....one of my favorite on the strips. If you love mezcal tequila please get the enter the dragon! This place is so niche from the rest of the bars in Patchogue and it's for this reason i come here. Less rowdy but still fun. My husband and I really love SR! Whenever our friends come out to Patchogue, they always want to go there and play a few games. The vibes are always really chill and the music is great! I've had a couple of the appetizers but we usually don't eat dinner there, just drink and hang out. Nestled in the heart of Patchogue's resurrected "village", you are simply drawn into this space. A cross between your favorite arcade, your rich friends game room in their basement or perhaps a boardwalk carnival with its rows of skeeball with the decor, it's kitsch, or the "exhibits that run the gamut from chic to sci-fi. Part dining room & cool bar (Old fashions on tap!?!) expansive space with doting service staff, and surprisingly ingenious and delicious nibbles. Tuna Poke bowls with incredible sesame soba noodles to humus with edamame mixed in for crunch... a vegan, gluten fairy Princess dream come true. I'm told a small, limited menu for now but I'm sure in true Brixtonite fashion, I'm certain the delicacies pouring out of the kitchen will be trend setting and help put Standard Rec on the map! To start, with a name like "Standard Rec", you'd better be supplying your "games". Nope. A Pacman arcade machine, large Jenga, a skeeball and basketball machine? Not even close to being enough, let's be realistic. All that aside, here's our review: Atmosphere: for a Saturday afternoon, the place was absolutely dead, a strange thing for downtown Patchogue on a Saturday and typically a telltale sign that something is wrong. Maybe the public has spoken. We decided to give it a chance and try anyway. The place was kind of dark and gloomy, we sat at a table that had Uno cards, so we played while waiting for food to be delivered. Service: the waitress was friendly enough, the food was on the slow side to come to table, but finally came. Food: the lemon pepper wings were nothing special for 10 bucks. Way overpriced, and I've had better wings from Pizza Hut. I was told they were in a lemon pepper "sauce", but they were very dry and I was hungry. Good lord. The 3 Birria Tacos were flat and boring. Nothing to them, just a hardshell with meat in it to dip in some Birria sauce, which was kind of tasteless. For $14, it was an absolutely terrible value. The mac n cheese was not good, watery and had no flavor, but they corrected it and brought a hamburger with fries which was ok. Overall, the food quality needs MAJOR improvement. We did not order any fancy drinks from the bar, so can't comment on that. To say that this place "has it all" is false in it's current platform. There's just too many places in Patchogue alone to try ( a good thing for customers) but unfortunately there was nothing at this establishment that makes us want to come back any time soon. read more

The setup is cool. They have a few arcade games, and it was good vibes. The bartending service is ok, but John is fantastic. I think John might have been a bareback. The woman didn't seem like she wanted to be there. It seemed like she wanted to close the bar. I assumed she was having a bad day. I decided to give it another try because I enjoyed my time, minus the bad bartending service. I took my cousin here for her birthday, and it was a horrendous mistake. The bartending service got worse. They are always in a rush to close. I greeted the same bartender, a woman with black curly hair. She seemed pissed and looked at her phone. She walked away and spoke to a guy. Then, she came back said we are doing the last call. I was appalled by the customer service. She literally yelled out I want to go home, and I'm opening tomorrow. They are a new establishment, and it seems like it has potential, but the bartenders that are currently working seem not to have the priorities to bartend and welcome people. read more

Walking past the area and noticing Public House was missing. Turns out they rebranded.. and OMG is it a gorgeous rebrand!! The atmosphere is so welcoming and interesting, with arcade machines that actually work! The menu is small but that's expected for just being open for three weeks and trying out different foods to see which ones are a hit. My family tried out most and each one was so delicious! Not just in the food selection but how it was prepared and served. Absolutely amazing. And now the wait staff.. So surprisingly friendly!! Usually with new(er) places you have a couple things right and a few things wrong... But Standard Rec checked ALL of our boxes! For my wife's first time out since having our 2nd child, she was delighted to see such a friendly wait staff who came by NUMEROUS times to make sure our food was prepped well and then to compliment us on how adorable our two kids were!! No judgements for breast-feeding our child and made my wife feel so comfortable. I'll recommend this place to anyone who wants to chill in downtown Patchogue and not be so overcome with people filling all the popular spots. Check this place out and you won't regret it! We stopped in opening weekend and the place looks great. The staff was very friendly, but despite all of this there was a major issue that is situational. This restaurant is not child friendly in the least. The menu was limited, but adequate. However, there was no children's menu whatsoever and we were told the only thing that was child friendly were French fries. We did order those in addition to a couple of appetizers and drinks. The food we had was good, as were the drinks. If children are not an issue that affects you I'd give them a solid four, if not higher. I'd gladly come back, but not with a child. read more

Im so glad that this is bar was operating during Covid let me tell you! Friendly staff, and even greater atmosphere. After a long day at work this is the place to come and enjoy a drink or two and have a great time with friends. Our waitress Haylee was great!
