I went the first week they opened and liked it. The food was pretty good and I chalked any service hiccups to the fact it freshly opened. I tried to go in around 1:30 a few weeks later on a Saturday and sat at the bar. I didn't get any attention, a water, a menu or acknowledgement from the bartender but his two friends sitting a seat down from me did. After being ignored for ten minutes I walked out. The only complaint that we really had was the hostess. We just wanted to sit outside but she claimed we couldn't because it was reserved for large groups and later she clearly sat many parties of 2 outside... Have wanted to try this place for awhile now and finally stopped in for lunch this month. Experience was less than average. Unlike the other "low" reviewers, I thought the service was excellent. Server was sweet and attentive. The ambiance was great. They have done a great job with the decor and remodeling. The food, however, blah! The fries that everyone is raving about were soaked (and I mean SOAKED) in grease. They were totally soggy and disgusting. We ordered a sandwich which was just OK and the chicken and waffles which were not good at all. Save yourself a a trip and head to TOB instead. read more

Excellent service and the food was perfect. The bourbon maple syrup trench toast is excellent. It's light and just the right amour of sweet.

I have been here twice. I like the menu and outside seating. Waitress on the first visit was attentive and sweet. Second visit had horribly slow service. When we arrived, we were told it would be about 45 minutes until we were seated. There was plenty of space to wait and it took less time than expected (great for Sunday brunch time). I've been here a few times and it's been great but I went today for brunch and waited 30 minutes for a table (which is fine) then waited another 30 and finally went to the hostess to ask where our waiter was. Love the brunch here. Food is always good. Some of my favorites are the Frog Eyes, breakfast sandwich (served on either a big biscuit or English muffin) & Dirty Sanchez. Brussel sprouts & HOE fries are also awesome. I've had so much food here & have yet to go wrong. Service is usually chill & friendly. Only 4 stars because it's always packed & sometimes the wait is long. But if you get there before 11, it's usually not terrible. Love this place. read more

Just had Sunday brunch at HOE. We had Steak and Eggs, chicken and waffles, Sloppy Seconds, the Parfait, and a Pollo-something skillet ( sorry couldn't remember the name of the dish). All were good and Alec our server was great about checking on us during the meal. Our 3 kids were with us and they had a great time as well-- we even got to play a game of Giant Jenga :) we sat in their large and airy patio area. Really great place to go with friends to hang out in a casual environment, eat good food that is bad for you and drink local or imported beers. The outdoor desk is nice and opens up to a large lawn where you can play yard games. They are open to events and will set up a tent for you if you ask. Definitely try to Tachos! read more

There was a time when Hang Over Easy would've gotten 5 stars, and it actually wasn't too terribly long ago. This had been my favorite place to get brunch on the weekends despite the food sometimes being inconsistent. I'm a big fan of the cheap Bloody Mary's, but unfortunately that's not gonna be enough to sustain good business. A few weeks ago we brought out of town friends here and waited ~45mins for our food, only for all 4 meals to be room temperature upon their arrival. It's one thing when the kitchen is behind, but to knowingly deliver food that has been sitting out is not okay. The manager on duty (who also ran our food) had an relatively insincere and uncomfortable reaction to handling our complaint, and owning the mistake. None the less our server apologized and informed us the manager took off half of our bill. So we tried again today. Unfortunately another 45 minutes of waiting for our meal after ordering with absolutely no explanation or apology. Very frustrating. read more

Been twice, never again. Both times food is less than mediocre and took a long time. This time waited an hour for food with no apology or explanation till we asked. The food left a lot to be desired and I would have sent it back but didn't have time to wait for another hour to get a reorder. came here from NJ for a convention and absolutely love this place. great food and super cute aesthetic. food might take a little long but definitely worth it. waitresses work hard and nonstop for each table. not expensive AT ALL which makes it even more great. overall extremely pleased with every aspect of this restaurant. wish i had one in NJ. read more

Hangover Easy, WHAT IS UP? My experience last Monday (the day after Christmas), has compelled me to write my first ever Yelp review. After grabbing a couple of seats at the bar, my fellow diner and I sat around for approximately 10 minutes or so before anyone paid us any mind. When the bartender finally made it over, we ordered coffee. Those took a good while to make it out to us. My friend also wanted to order a beer, and clearly tried to make the dreaded eye contact with the bartender to no avail. After about another 10 minutes, our food orders were taken, and the beer was finally ordered. Then we waited. And waited. And waited. No one came to tell us there was a deal with slow food service. We were never asked if we wanted coffee refills. After about 30 minutes, we flagged down our bartender and just let her know we needed to get to a movie (Rogue One; I really think people are being hyperbolic about this film but that's neither here nor there). She responded that the kitchen was really busy, but did not apologize. Then we waited some more. And some more. We kept hoping, "if the food comes in 3 minutes, we'll still make it." Well, the food never came. After another 10 or so minutes, we asked for our check. The bartender was clearly not miffed or apologetic at all, which, if I hadn't been a server myself for 10 years, I'd probably comment on. But, her blase attitude was actually slightly inspiring--at least she wasn't panicking. The kicker though, was that she still charged us for the beer! I "get" busy and understaffed. I've been there. And the service here has never been stellar, but this was just too much. I hope ya'll get it together, because that Dirty Sanchez motivates me some mornings, and not having it to look forward to is mildly upsetting. read more

It's .... Fine. The servers are very friendly, the atmosphere is great - it is a cool little place. But the food is lacking. I have an unhealthy love of French fries and order them everywhere. The bacon fat fries were soggy and lacking flavor. The chicken and waffles were okay, a small portion of chicken compared to waffle though (taste of Belgium is much better). The flavor in the me came only from the hot sauce. The dirty Sanchez completely disappointing. It looked amazing when it came out, but was really a burrito of flavorless mush. This place was much-hyped, so maybe my expectations were too high, but it was severely disappointing. It's a fun concept, I hope it turns around food-wise. read more
