I'm updating this review in light of a recent shopping trip I reluctantly made here on a Friday morning at 10:00am. I chose HEB over my normal Fiesta (which is awesome, BTW. I should totally write a review) because I needed a birthday card for my sass-a-frass and Fiesta's cards are literally from the 80s. I figured at 10:00am on a Friday HEB would be pretty tame and mayyybe I could even do some grocery shopping to stock up on some of the specialty vegetarian stuff Fiesta doesn't carry. Wrong, stupid! While there weren't the crushing hordes of people I mentioned in my last review, it didn't matter! This HEB is so terribly planned that even when there's a lull in the grocery shopping madness you still get stuck here for wayyyy longer than you initially planned. Produce section? Horrible! Why are the aisles all zig-zaggy and narrow?! Why do I have to remember my produce code and then weigh my shit and then print a little sticker?! Why are the lemons by the potatoes and not the apples an other fruits?! WHY?! Dry goods section? Lackluster! Yet again terrible planning steals precious moments from my life as I get sucked further and further into the HEB vortex. Here the aisles are suuuuper wide - Yes! Good! Maybe I can get out of the stop-and-go traffic nightmare experienced in the produce section! Wrong again, dummy! Despite the ample aisle space people totally suck at moving along and allowing others to grab their products in an expedient manner. Why does everyone feel the need to abandon their shopping cart right in the middle of the aisle?! Basically, this HEB sucks and I never, ever, ever go there. I missed H-E-B when I was living in east Texas. We had Brookshire's, which was...okay if you went to one of the larger ones in Tyler, but it wasn't H-E-B. Brookshire's even opened up their version of a Whole Foods/Central Market-type store called Fresh, and I always left thinking "Hmm...this is like a big H-E-B, but it's still lacking all the Central Market items." Yeah, I love my CM eats. They're organic/upscale nommage on the cheap, and therefore, epic win. Now I realize that I *specifically* miss the H-E-B at Bosque and Wooded Acres in Waco. This one? It's all right in a pinch, but it just seems super-crowded and a bit jumbled up somehow. The layout isn't too different than the Best H-E-B in the Waco-verse, so maybe it's the awkward "beer cove" laid out next to all the diagonal rows of the bakery and produce departments laid out next to...why are the cold goods horizontal to the front of the store when all the other rows are vertical? I don't understand. This hurts my little brain. Jumbled-up layout aside, this H-E-B really does have the nice selection that you'd expect from an H-E-B. There's a lot of fresh bakery and food items--everything from whole rotisserie chickens to tortillas and naan. The "Chef-Prepared Foods" are a godsend to the lazy. (I add the pico de gallo to pretty much everything.) The weird little beer cove has a wide selection of potable potables, from the cheapest of the cheap up to better brews and even big bottles from Jester King. You can pick up Central Market items along with your non-organic guilty pleasure treats, which as much as I love the Central Market on Lamar, you can't do over there. There's a decent-sized section of um, "personal" items, too, so if you're the kind of person who buys tampons and TP in 80-billion packs so you won't have to buy them again for a long, long time, this is your place. The cosmetics aisle inexplicably closes early, though, which I don't quite understand, but eh. If you really need a specific shade of nail polish at 1 AM, I suppose there's always Walgreens. The parking lot scares me just a little. College kids EVERYWHERE. I think I usually end up parking down by Freebirds and hiking up there. Overall, I have a much happier grocery shopping experience at Whole Foods or Central Market, but when I need to find items I can't find there, H-E-B is always an option. read more

The Hancock HEB has always been a favorite shopping destination. It's not as large as my normal HEB, but there are a few reasons why this particular HEB shines more brightly than most HEB's. 1. The have one of the best produce sections of any HEB I have ever seen. Great selection and the produce here seems fresher than most. I would guess that's due to a faster rotation of product. 2. The health foods/supplements etc. They seem to carry the widest variety of supplements and special diet foods. I suspect, this is because of the proximity to UT. 3. The beer selection. Faaar superior to my regular store...and thank goodness! If I had this sort of beer selection right by my house, I'd be the most unproductive person ever! Parking is ample and the store is easily accessible from 35. Service is always friendly and helpful. Added bonus...tons of stunning women walking around. read more

Store 109 - Gabby in Floral Store 109 is a very busy store and I often will bypass it.  Well on Tuesday, Nov. 5, that was not an option.  One of my client's husband had passed away and I needed a flower arrangement, it was too late for a local florist delivery.  I've never created any type of arrangement.  I call the florist tell the occasion and, I'm done.  Now, I'm met with the do it yourself task.  I had a budget and no idea what I wanted to purchase.  Then I met Gabby, filled with energy, ideas and a willingness to help; all antiquated features in retail customer service.  She spent time as if she really cared.  She serviced other customers while I switched from one flower to the next, but she always returned willing to help.   I want to give Gabby a BIG HIGH 5.  I had an HEB day! One word to describe most aspects of this place: Crowded! There were tons of people, tons of food choices, tons of flowers, and so forth all packed into small spaces... yikes! Overall, there was a good selection of the items we needed (mainly fruits, veggies, bread, etc.) & we didn't really have trouble finding what we were searching for that day. As part of the Valentine's day weekend, they also had deals on flowers & such including some $4 flower bouquets! I had to snag one just to add some color to where I was staying. You could see all the panic-stricken men darting from aisle to aisle to choose the perfect gift(s), which added a slight entertainment value to our shopping. The checkout process was super slow that day, clearly due to the crowds. We even did self checkout & waited a while. *shrug* That's what we get for shopping on a Saturday afternoon I suppose. We made it in & out safely, but it definitely took some time and effort :) read more

Not all HEB's are created equal. This one seems to be near the top of the heap though. Great selection of orange juice and baby diapers. Oh, and if you need to pick up a balloon arrangement or get your eye glasses resized you can do that here also. Plan on factoring in some time to find a parking spot, unless you happen to get here on a Monday morning around 7 am. You will probably stand in line also once you decide to check out, but how else would you catch up on the latest boob job or divorce in American Royalty. read more

HEB redefines the term "clusterF*#!". I realize that in general grocery stores are busy, but 'busy' isn't quite accurate. Making matters much worse are the narrow aisles and brain dead patrons. For some reason that is beyond me, if you stick a bunch of people in a place filled with food, all organization and logic go out the window. "Traffic jams" are a frequent problem as people tend to leave their cart in the middle of the aisle as they talk on their phone or try to figure out just which kind of powdered doughnuts will cause less dimples in their ass. To the credit of HEB, the staff is generally helpful and positive. The cashiers are engaging and relatively upbeat despite the droves of dullards that walk through there on a daily basis. Also, HEB does offer low prices on a wide variety of items. This seems enticing but when you factor in the extra time, saving $.10/lb on something doesn't seem worth the extra 20 minutes. I will go out of my way to Randalls or Natural Grocers just to avoid the circus that is this HEB. read more

Apparently my life is lacking something, because one of my greatest joys in moving to Austin was that I would finally be able to buy my groceries at the HEEB. Seriously, people who grew up with this grocery chain don't understand how awesome it is. 41st Street is my neighborhood store. I'm not surprised that it's apparently the busiest HEB in Texas. The place is sufficiently populated on a Thursday at 1:30 a.m. I actually live closer to Central Market, but often opt for the HEB because the natural foods section is so huge that it has all the same crap anyway, and a little cheaper. (And I don't have to walk through a stinky cheese bar to get there!!!) I don't care that this store is always insanely busy. I like standing in a crowd five-deep, basket in hand, waiting for my turn to weigh two avocados. I really do. Five stars. read more

If this store were 50% less busy, I'd probably really love it. Well, at least like it. I don't loathe every HEB, just this one. You see, it's constantly a clusterf*#@. The parking lot is ridiculous, there are always lines at check out, they're always out of at least three things on my list--every single time I go. Shoppers are a pretty even mix of middle class families, students and the recently graduated, and the low income. I only shop here because it's close to my home and it's cheap. But I hate every single minute of it and am usually stomping around whining about...most everything. But here's a few nice things about this particular location: --salsa bar next to the deli counter --bulk section with decently sized natural/organic section --small (versus no) selection of mix and match six pack beers --fresh made tortilla chips, tortillas, ground chorizo, etc. I really can't say anything else positive about it. Even the check out cashiers have been weird lately. Lots of obviously ill cashiers touching my food, coughing over it as they scan. SO gross. I can only assume they either can't afford to call in sick or management won't let them. I also had a cashier launch into a spiel about how hungry he is because he doesn't make enough money, he can't afford food (seriously awkward as he's checking out my $120 worth of groceries) and he lives so far away he can barely afford to even get to work so he's going to ask for a store transfer...that really sucks and again: so awkward! On a recent trip to HEB, this location was out of a dozen EGGS!, my central market brand uncured turkey sandwich meat, my uncured applegate salami, the flavor celestial seasoning tea I wanted, all flavors of my brand of greek yogurt (and my back up brand!) and my deodorant. It's incredibly frustrating. To avoid this, don't shop Sundays. Unfortunately it's really hard for me to get there any other day of the week. read more

This is the HEB that I always wind up shopping at even though the one off 183 is closer, but that one is the devil, so I drive an extra few minutes to this location. In general, this HEB is not terrible. Everything about the store is just fine. There's a lot of selection and things are laid out in an intuitive manner. There's even a pretty decent wine section for how small the alcohol section is. The produce always looks good. The only problems I have are the sheer amount of people that all try to go shopping here at once. I get off work around 8:30-9 pm and it is always packed if I need to go grocery shopping after work. Generally, the other patrons are NOT like Walmart shoppers in that they are actually paying attention to what's happening and don't take up whole lanes with their cart at least. The checkout lines always have a massive amount of people in them, but they tend to go pretty fast. Unfortunately, you have to listen to multiple college kid conversations in the meantime. Like I said, it's not terrible, but I can't wait until the Mueller HEB opens up. read more

It is absolute crap that H.E.B. forces a person to buy H.E.B brand products. It is true that they do offer other brands of merchandise but it is very limited in very small amounts. I was at a store to day trying to buy bacon and there were rows and rows and rows of H.E.B brand bacon and only a few offerings of another brand of bacon. It appears to me that H.E.B is insecure about their own product because if they thought it was good they would give the customer the choice to choose between H EB brand or another brand. Some H.E.B. brand items are good, but at the same time there are other brands out there that are even better and I would not paying more for them because they are that much better. Texas needs to bring in another grocer like King Soopers who does give the customer a very good variety to choose from including the King Sooper brand. read more

I love this place. It's clean, well stocked, and the staff is helpful. It's so close to the campus, that it's one of the best places to go shopping for students who need some cheap groceries. It's been renovated recently so the pizza place in the front of the store really draws me in. I would say that the only problem is the lines at this place. Like any other grocery market in America, there are too many people for the amount of checkout likes available/in use. The lines can get pretty long and it's quite a wait sometimes. It's also open 24/7 so if there's an emergency need for things it's convenient. There's also a ton of parking, which isn't what you see at all of the stores. I've been to multiple HEBs and this one in particular has items stocked geared towards the college community (more school supplies etc) overall I really like this place. I've accidentally left my phone in a cart and found it again soon after. It's quite safe. read more

Alright everybody this is the best HEB in all of Austin, Dare I say Texas? Well pretty much the best thing about this place is that it is open 24 hours and and they have a nice lay out that flows from one area to the other. They also have a great healthy section which is pretty well stocked and not over priced. Major bonuses include the beer and wine selection and the fact that you can purchase a keg from here. I truly don't understand the logic of this business plan anymore. Honestly, this used to be a great grocery store that I shopped at all the time. Then, it was an ok store that wasn't quite as good as it used to be. Now, it's like they actively took their old business model and put serious effort into making this one of the most ghetto stores in town. Hell, I'd almost rather go to the Rundberg location than come here again. Half their seafood counter was empty. They literally have NO olive oil. None. How the hell is that possible? Their selection of vegetables in their frozen section is unbelieveably bad, and really their selection of most things has gone completely downhill. Yet somehow, they have a giant store full of...something. On top of it all, their cashiers suck, they have no sackers, and the cashiers sack so badly that they just tossed one of my bags into the cart sideways so it spilled out. "Have a nice day!" I love HEB. I've been going to the William Cannon/Brodie location since they built it. They helped me get through the pandemic and still are. The curbside pickup is accurate and fast. They have always gone out of their way any time I needed help. read more

This is my favorite HEB in all of Texas and my most frequented grocery store. The place is always packed anytime in the daytime straight through midnight. You'll probably see me there at 2 am because I hate crowds and I like to look at all the labels of the products in peace. =) They've got a pretty good produce section also a very well stocked organic area. It doesn't quite compare to Whole Foods but its a good replacement for the bang for the buck. The other thing I really like about this HEB is the great beer and wine selection! They've got stuff that the other HEB's don't to satisfy the raging alcoholic in ya. The only negatives I can say about this place is how crowded it can get sometimes and the fact that it isn't Whole Foods. =) read more

Another reviewer called this "one of the better" HEBs in central Austin. All that tells me is that HEB must not be my kind of store. I usually shop at Newflower for the deals, or Central Market & Whole Foods for the good stuff. I am a poor student, though, so I thought I should try a regular old grocery store with a big enough selection to get all that I need in one trip. Well, this experiment failed. I went at about 2 pm and the place was crowded. The strange way the produce area is laid out made this sort of awful. I was able to get everything on my list except Woolite (seems like a product this store should carry). I find it hilarious that they have sale tags on items highlighting the "lower" prices, which I often noticed were only 5 cents lower than the regular price. My wallet was not laughing, though. The only thing going for it is a large selection of items, so you can get your generics and specialty in one place (and its on my commute). Overall this place is too generic, dirty, crowded, overwhelming large, and lacking in the smoking deals I'm used to at Newflower. I'll skip it in the future. read more

I have been going to this HEB for the past 10 years and tonight I got home with one milk bottle short. When I went back in the heat to let the checker know what had happened in the past 20 minutes, she basically told me I was wrong that it would have been still on the floor because she would have known about it. At my check out interestingly enough I saw one of the co-workers put a sign up on her station stating this checkout was closed. I thought she went on her break then. She told me to wait at the end of the counter in which I waited for 10 minutes more. Once the manager came he replied that he indeed was the one who picked the missing milk bottle up off the floor. I looked at her and she refused to acknowledge or look at me much less apologize on any level. I guess I was a liar no matter what. I have worked in retail for several years, at that very same age where my managers trained me to start with " the customer is always right". I am assuming that is a good place to start until the whole story is told. This Hancock HEB used to be one of the best, but no more. The managers are nowhere to be seen and don't seem to care about what is happening on the floor with their customers who are putting the money into the company. I also have bought sour milk many times which leads me to question their refrigeration system? They often discontinued items but I am not sure why since the other HEB's have those items offered and has so for several years. Sad state of affairs...I think it is better when one knows they can rely on their neighborhood grocery store. But sadly I am not sure I can say that :( read more

Busy little market. If you're in no rush, then this might be the best HEB for you. Good selection, you get to watch students flirt and learn to shop. If you're a speed shopper, as I sometimes am, then GET YOUR TROLLEY OUT OF THE WAY YOU AMATEUR GROCERY STORE USER! Seriously. Every night is amateur night at HEB. People who have little cart etiquette, lots of time, and 4 room-mates to a cart clog the aisles leaving a trail of destruction and tangled metal as they go. Which is all part of the charm of my favorite HEB in town. read more

I found an easier place to park. I might be crazy for poasting my secret, but it has made my HEB experience a bit easier. Behind Sears and HEB is a parking lot, and you walk though an underpass - hassle free, and bit longer of a walk, but hassle free. Also I have never had any problems with this pharmacy, and it seems to be a bit cheaper that Walgreen's. read more

Hancock Center H.E.B is both a wonder and a monstrosity. Admittedly everyone has commented already about the traffic and checkout lines. I want to talk about the cheap wine selection. You see they have this guy Steve here who's must be one of Austin's finest wine buyers. There are several different bottles for around $5-$7 which are both fantastic and better priced than anywhere else in town. I have talked with Steve and he is extremely proud of his work and all the wine he buys. You can sense he wants to turn students onto something a wee bit more sophisticated than the standard "2 buck chuck." Indeed the wine section here is 5 stars. Yeah, other places may have more wines, but none of those wines are ones I can afford. Alas it gets slightly bogged down by the rest of the store which although open 24/7 is subject to crowds, shortages and all the other whims of a large population. read more

I agree with Rose C. This is definitely a hipster HEB. This place gets PACKED. That equates to difficulty in finding parking, weaving through people within the store, and waiting a long, long, long time to pay. That is why I usually go late at night, say between 11pm-1am. You basically have several people buying beer at the last minute and then a few real shoppers. You eliminate the issues of parking, shopping, and paying. The only problem is that the deli, seafood counter, and bakery close at 9 or 10pm. Otherwise, it is THE perfect time to shop for groceries! read more

Shameful that this HEB cannot be found on Yelp........This evening my wife (who is 9 months pregnant) and myself went to HEB on Springdale to get groceries, and rent a rug doctor in preparation for her mother coming into town for the birth of our son. I have a very busy schedule and have been leasing a car from a neighbor just to get to a new job that is from 04:00 to 16:00 seven days a week. So our careful planning for the week brought us to a specific time (17:30) to rent this machine. Which turned out to be defective, only knowing this because we called the (800) number on the machine. So we called the store to see what we needed to do, simply asking that we return the machine and get another one that works, yet return it on Monday 15 October 2012. I asked the assistant manager about returning machine and asked if we could get an extra day due to the inconvenience and having to do the carpet by myself now which the extra day would allow me to take my time and he put me on hold and talked with the main manager. He gets back on the phone and tells me we can return the machine and get another one and i asked if i would be able to get an extra day which he then put me on hold and asked his manager this time i heard the manager ask "well if she's returning it tonight why does she need it till monday"? we'll be pulling all of our prescription, and not returning. read more

This has one of the best gourmet, organic/healthy, deli, and wine/beer selections of all the H-E-B's I've been to in Austin - but it's so large, I often feel that I'm walking around in a warehouse - I always seem to accidentally find myself in the card and party favors section (not by choice - it's like a Bermuda Triangle!). It's not in my neighborhood, but it's close to my day job so I often go there to stock up on a few Amy's frozen food items for lunch. One day, I got soy cheese, and it had already gone bad. That was disappointing. Other than that, it's a nice alternative to the Central Market for your specialty food items. read more

If I could give this hellhole zero stars, I would. As if my previously (and ridiculously) bad experience with the missing grocery cart and stolen reusable bags weren't enough... I decided to make peace with HEB, grabbed my groceries and when I got home realized I was missing a bag they had charged me for. So I had to drive back over there in afternoon traffic when it's 105 degrees outside to get the situation fixed. The manager asked if I wanted to go back through the store to pick out my missing items. Given their track record, I had to say no. She gave me my money back but refused to give any sort of discount or gift card to rectify the situation. And to add insult to injury, I realized there was another $3 item I was missing, but felt I couldn't say anything at that point because they wouldn't believe me. I'd be more likely to eat McDonald's every day for the rest of my life than to give my money to this HEB again. read more

This location happens to be close to campus and close to my home, which is good and bad. The good is that it's a fairly big H.E.B. with a really good wine and beer selection (among other things) and there are always good looking co-eds walking around all times of the day and night. Of course, the downside is that it is always packed. It's nearly impossible to run in and get something quick -- it's going to take you 10-15 minutes just to check out. There's never enough open lanes, and the kids are smart enough about self-check out that even that won't save you. I'd love to see an H.E.B. Plus here, but there's no room for expansion despite the fact this is one of the highest volume stores. Of course, Central Market is right around the corner, so it's not like there aren't options. read more

Dear H-E-B, since I've moved to New York, I've missed your low prices. You never made me beg for it. If I came in the morning, you would always have fresh tortilla samples from your in-house tortilleria ready for me - even better tasting than the ones I bought in Rosarito, Mexico. Sometimes, you would give me this crazy deal where if I purchased one item you would give me four others for FREE. You offered me spices and other natural food bulk items by the pound. You let me explore cooking in a way I never have before and I feel grateful to you for that. If I felt like making red velvet cupcakes in the middle of the night, you never judged me and stayed open all night so I could buy the cream cheese I forgot for the frosting. Oh HEB, when are you coming to visit me in New York? Please tell me you'll come, and for good this time. read more

I usually don't review grocery stores, but I just had to give this place 5 stars. Although it is almost always crowded this store has the freshest produce of the HEB's in the Austin area and they have a ton of organic options. Their staff is always helpful and knowledgeable when it comes to tracking down specific or unusual products. That's why I am writing this review. A woman working in the butcher shop portion of the store on Valentines day was extremely helpful despite it being an excessively crowded night. She was wonderful--offered options and took the time to see to it that I got exactly what I wanted. I wish I knew her name, but she is the reason I am giving this HEB five stars. read more

This is without a doubt is a very busy store,all the UT kids shop this store 24/7,but it does a great job keeping the store shelves FULL,it has a great beer and wine section,and the meat department is great ,the dairy department is huge and the deli and bakery departments are great,but the produce department makes the store stand out! This is not the HEB of my dreams. After having done shopping for two 10+ dinner parties within a week of each other and having spent some quality time here I thought I would dispense. There's lots of bad things such as how parking sucks here unless you go around 11 or midnight (Its what I do, but not for all). Its always uber crowded during the day and the checkout lines seem way longer than humanly possible. Check out time is such a pain that if I am forced to come during the day I tend to buy less than ten items so I can use the checkout station by the produce. There are good things as well. They have a very LARGE selection of groceries be it produce or cotton swabs. That pretty much sums up the good parts of this HEB. I still do most of my shopping here and plan to in the future, but I wish the HEB of my dreams would fall out of the sky on top of this one. Le sigh. read more

Oh how I love this HEB! When I moved centrally this was one of the added perks. Open late hours and with a spread to rival central markets, this HEB's collection of sushi, health food, Asian food isles and big bright interior almost make me actually want to go shopping! They have a cafe seating area and is clean, crowded and friendly. The beer/wine section is flipping huge. I usually get lost and wander for hours, but the staff tips about picking the best wines at the cheapest prices usually helps me emerge unscathed. The lines are long and the parking is horrid, but its worth it. read more

This is the closest large grocery store to us Hyde Park folk, and even though I should be used to it by now, it makes me yearn for a vile of Vicodin when I turn off Red River. First, the parking SUCKS BIG FAT ________s. I don't mind walking, but I wonder if I should even drive in the first place. Not nearly enough parking to serve this condensed retail area. Inside, the "Central Market" section is small, the organization is haphazard, and there's always a wait at the end. To its credit, it is probably the most equally diverse crowd of peeps, so it feels like a real city grocery, and there is the eye candy factor, being so close to campus. I still opt for the way south Costco and HEB on Brodie combo, but will end up here for small essentials. Have NEVER seen it where it wasn't crazy busy. read more

Welcome to Club HEB. The parking lot is horrific, and the clientele is mind-boggling. I've never seen so many weirdoes in a grocery store in my life. I stood behind a guy that paid for a soda out of his sock recently. The product selection is good. If only HEB would build another location on the East side, it might help ease the congestion. Came to this HEB for the first time after going to the one on 51st and I was a little disappointed on the lack of employees around. I was walking around trying to find some items and was unable to do so. The store layout is quite confusing as well. This is my "Howard E. Butt" and I dig it. They have everything and its very well priced. Just don't go anywhere near 5PM or at 2AM. Since there is a metric ton of hipsters they keep the place well stocked with a good supply of beers, wines, fresh produce, and now their fancy organic and Central Market products. I've been to quite a few H-E-B's in Austin and I have to say this is my favorite one. In my opinion, the location (right off of I35), the parking, and the food options are the best. They have many bulk items that I purchase in order for my groceries to last me a while. They also have a great selection of pre-made food. The only bad thing I can say about this location is that they don't have the small pieces of leftover cheese for sale. read more

I was going to try and make this clever, but I think I'll be 100% serious this time. It's a pretty amazing thing to see a company take on Walmart, Albertsons, and Randalls, and solidly win. Especially Walmart. Up until I moved to Austin and started shopping at HEB, I never questioned the fact that Walmart was supposed to have the best prices, period. It took me a good year, and Walmart screwing me over customer service-wise that got me to go to HEB. Now some of there stuff is occasionally more expensive, but overall, it's cheaper. Perhaps the other thing that makes it that much cheaper is that HEB's store brands are actually edible. They really will take it back too if you don't like it. Now the reason for the 4 stars instead of 5 - this place is crazy crowded. I always go late, and yet it's still busy. I ventured in one time on a Sunday afternoon and nearly lost all my patience. I ended up parking my cart in one corner of the store and making trips back and forth to my cart. As others have said, the same rules that apply to driving apply to a grocery store. Keep to the right. Pull off to the side if your cart is disabled, or you want to sight-see. Right of way, learn it, live it. Children should no drive carts. Talking on a cell phone, texting, or shopping while intoxicated will probably get you mauled. Other bad/ugly stuff - "sushi" that costs way too much everything considered, an inferior bakery compared to Fiesta, one particular evil pharmacist, a organic/natural/Central Market food area full of very tasty, very expensive looking stuff. That's all I can think of for now. Oh, and where else can I insist on paper instead of plastic these days? Apparently economies of scale and stuff actually make plastic more "environmentally friendly" then paper, but like - I have actually uses for paper bags. I went into HEB to get some meat and settled on chicken quarters for some BBQ. OK, out of 3 quarters, there were 2 with broken legs. I am well aware that all animals are killed for us to eat but I am not aware that we allow torture of the animals. That is not the treatment of animals that I expect from any reputable grocer. If it is not the HEB employees who are breaking the legs, where do you purchase the meat and have you done an inspection at these locations. These are packaged with the legs broken so an employee has seen the injury. Was very disturbing. read more
