I can't say much about what Randalls carries since I only stopped by briefly, but I was so glad they were close by and open when I desperately needed a bathroom. The bathrooms were clean, conveniently located in the back of the store, and easy to find thanks to a very clear sign. This Randall's constantly has expired dairy products for sale at full price and if you are not careful you'll end up buying expired yogurt like I did. I didn't think it would be a week expired but it was. This is the 3rd time it's happened to me with their dairy products. When you go to a grocery store you expect the food to be edible and not expired. That is up to the employees to maintain the store but this store always falls short. read more

This is a nice neighborhood Randall's. The produce selection is always very good and they have a good selection of yogurt. They have a large bakery department with everything from muffins to cake to fresh bread. The offer "Just for U" discounts if you sign up with them, and that is when you will save money. One time with this I got a case of water for $0.98. Awesome deal! I will note that I find their regular prices to be higher than their local competitor, so I first, only shop the Just for U, and second only consider things in their ad. Then I price shop against their competitor to see if it's truly a good deal. I find that you can get great deals on produce fairly regularly. I'm surprised they don't try harder to be competitive. I've been there at all times of the day and they are rarely crowded. Better pricing would steal me away for all my shopping. read more

This is a small Randalls, but it has a good range of products. What really makes this location is the employees. Grocery: grapes are fresh and plump. Organic carrots best in town. Napa cabbage is crisp and delicious. Items that are not stored in fridge might require scrutiny for freshness. Deli: Gloria is my favorite. Marcus, Lynn, Logan, and others are super sweet and cut great deli items. Dietz and Watson deli items are delicious. They have provided me samples and I get hooked on the meats. Good fried chicken and okra for quick no fix lunch. Butcher: love Jose, Albert, Terri! Best quality meats with custom orders and always so friendly and nice. Great prices too. Check out sale meats. Bakery: excellent Marble rye bread. Apple fritters are good, but go fast. If you cannot find something at this location there is another Randalls in Mesa. read more

I came by to do some quick shopping after work yesterday. I happened to be by the floral department and heard what looked like the Floral Manager (Benjamin K) screaming at an employee. He told her "don't speak when I'm talking to you! You be quiet." I don't know what the context was--but that is simply unacceptable treatment especially in a public setting. No one deserves to be humiliated. This is in front of anyone walking by. He was so angry you could see the veins in his neck. Whatever the issue is, you should take care of "correction" in private--not in front of everyone and their kid. Everyone felt the shame and humiliation. Simply unbelievable behavior for a grown man. Unfortunately, there are so many times I've tried to visit the store but the pricing is wrong. I end up having to go in and show them my receipt which is a huge waste of time. I recently moved and am adjusting to all new neighborhood stores. I had my doubts about Randalls since everyone says they're overpriced and this branch is relatively small and old looking; however, I love this store! It's never crowded, so I can find a parking spot then get in and out quickly. The employees are always friendly, too. The sales are awesome! For instance, recently, milk was $2.50/gallon, chicken breasts were $2/pound, grapes were 98 cents/pound, and Fresh Express bagged salads were only $1 each! Like Natalia said, if you plan your menu around the food that is on sale, you can shop here very inexpensively. Additionally, in the back corner near the dairy section, you will find a clearance area. I've found all kinds of neat stuff here--$1 nail polish, $1 Greenies (dog treats), $2 pomegranate juice, $1 Cheerios, and more! The weird stuff on that shelf is kind of amusing, but there are definitely some deals to be had as well. For those of you who don't like the Remarkable card, here's a tip: don't give your real information. Just write in a fake address and phone number. They don't look at your ID or anything. Safeway can still track your purchases and use that data to improve their ordering or marketing or whatever they do, but they won't know who you really are. read more

Here's the deal on Randall's...is it the cheapest? No. However, here's a list of reasons why Randall's is fabulous: 1. I don't have to fight for parking spaces 2. It's super clean 3. Friendliest people ever 4. Don't have a bunch of bratty kids running around in there building forts with cereal boxes. 5. Rewards program perks and card gets you pretty fabulous discounts 6. This location is small but has a pretty good range of products. I do find Randall's to be more expensive than H-E-B or Trader Joe's but if you find a weekly deal the prices aren't too bad. I mostly come here for groceries and occasionally some hot foods like breakfast or soups. The service is pretty decent. If it's not too busy I will get offered help. I'm a quick in and out shopper when I come here. Usually the lines are short. I've never seen a crazy long line at the cashier. Food items are easier to find and you can usually get a sale with your Randall's card. The hot food/deli area I'll give 3 stars I haven't had anything that wowed me. However the chicken noodle soup is pretty good. I've had a breakfast sandwich (bacon egg and cheese) and a ham and cheese sandwich which both did the trick. read more

I feel like every employee has the biggest heart and are always so kind. I go to Randall's almost 2-3x a week for the Starbucks coffee which is conveniently located next to my work place. I've read negative reviews about the cashiers at Starbucks but I have not experienced that. It can be a little slow at times if there's a line but it's only one person working so that can be expected when someone's order for one drink sounds like a run on sentence. read more

I love my Randall's. The staff is friendly and have worked tirelessly through Covid. The store is smaller than an HEB and it feels more hometown and less corporate. Sorry, but I just don't get all Randall's haters. First of all, if you're wasting energy actually "hating" a grocery store (?), then you're expending energy in ridiculous places. I've shopped at this Randall's for 6 years, since I live in the neighborhood. The employees (love Ron!!) know me by name and ask about my dogs all the time. They're always friendly and helpful. And you can find deals there. Sometimes I get grossed out by the ghetto HEB on Burnet that's always crowded and where parking can be a nightmare. If you have a problem with the Randall's card, either don't get one or use fake information. Usually the same people have a problem with CVS's savings card, too. I bought a few things at CVS the other day and received a $24.50 coupon with my purchase. I can walk in and buy $24.50 of merchandise and not pay a penny! How cool is that? And I think their prices are good to begin with. But I digress. With Randall's savings card, yes, they track what you regularly purchase and offer you coupons on those items. I don't understand what's wrong with that. But then again, I don't think Randall's is part of the Big Brother network that so many conspiracy theorists are paranoid about. Today is Easter Sunday and the place was packed (HEB is closed). So which store comes through on a holiday? I'm sure some of the Randall's haters who were in the store shopping today will bitch and moan about the prices. Go figure. I'll keep shopping at this Randall's. I usually prefer HEB/Central Market over Randalls. Something about Randalls' store layouts, lighting, the lines they carry, the whole Remarkable Card thing, and the people they employ all combine for a somewhat creepy/slightly overpriced/outdated shopping experience. But I do appreciate Randalls for one thing in particular, and that is for being open on religious holidays. I was in DESPERATE need of an open grocery store on Easter Sunday, and all of the HEB/Central Markets were dark. Enter Randalls, my grocery knight in shining armor of the day. I may not be gung-ho about shopping here on 360+ days of the year, but on those few religious holidays, I'm glad Randalls exists. read more

Randall's is very good at fly fishing. If you could actually find the items that are on sale and they actually have it in stock, you could get some really good deals. Unfortunately, more frequent than I care to encounter is they would have sales and when you go there they don't have it. I would see skinless boneless chicken breasts for $1.47, and when I went there, they had an empty shelf for that item. The same with their 79 cents 2 liter Canada Dry or 7 Up. Another bad experience I encountered was there's a grumpy old man stationed at the skinless boneless chicken breast at the Braker and 183 store that felt like you owed him $1 million when you tried to get the chicken breast and they actually had the item in stock. read more

I'm not a huge fan of Randall's in general, but this one is so close to my house that I find myself going there for those quick-trips. It is rather small, but the layout is predictable, and it seems the same friendly staff is always working no matter what time of day I go. The demographic of this neighborhood leans towards, shall we say 'geriatric', so it's easy to dart in and out real quick since your competition in the isles is typically moving slowly. JUST KIDDING. But seriously, going to this place will make a 41-year-old feel like a teenager again. They recently renovated which was a pain because they did it while keeping the store open. But now that it's done, the place has a fresh, clean and new feeling. Still the same relatively over-priced fare, but more pleasurable to get fleeced in. Gotta use that Randall's card to get prices anywhere near what you'd find at HEB. But sometimes the convenience is worth it. read more

I overheard a conundrum between employees, it appeared that a man named Keith was speaking very aggressively to the woman in the flower department, Robin I believe and I saw another woman making comments toward robin, a tall black lady giving away samples of beer. I decided not to buy anything because I don't feel comfortable as a female shopper around that environment. I was shocked that they joined in on berating the floral employee in such a way. I am a frequent shopper of Randall's and have never experienced such a uncomfortable situation whilst shopping. Robin remained calm and was very helpful. And continued to help shoppers. read more

This Randall's is never crowded - especially compared to the circus that is the HEB across the street - but for some reason I always get stuck in the line with the one person asking for 80 things at the register then writing the slowest check of all time, while all other lanes are zipping by. Their fruits and vegetables are fresher than most stores in Austin and they have a great selection - I love anywhere that has beautiful red bell peppers most of the year. Their employees are great. They're friendly from all around the store, and especially at the front. The Randall's card can save you lots of money, which counteracts the slightly higher prices (worth it!) and the Starbucks inside is nice, quick, and not quite as friendly, but they get the job done. read more

I have been going to this Randall's for years. The fact that it is relatively small is a big plus. I can always count on finding things quickly. The main reason I prefer this Randall's is the staff. I can always count on the staff being SUPER courteous and helpful. I have had many conversations with different members of the staff. They really give this Randall's a real neighborhood store feel. Furthermore, this is the only Randall's in Austin with a kosher bakery. I can't recommend this store highly enough. read more

Love the floral department, ease of parking, and generally less crowded store. If you're not stocking up on Remarkable Card deals, though, you're going to pay a fortune compared to HEB -- not just a few pennies here and there, but a huge difference. For instance, a 12pk of the tp I use goes for $8 at HEB, but it's $12 at Randall's. However, with the card, coupons, and some very deliberate shopping, you can get some really good prices. I don't mind shopping at this location when I'm in a rush or in the area (it's near work), but that's about it. I made the mistake of trying their delivery service once -- they sucked me in with $20 off and free delivery. Unfortunately, half of what I ordered was out of stock, they substituted the exact opposite of what I instructed, and it was an all around horrible experience. Stick with Instacart & HEB. read more

I tucked in around lunch time, starving and managed to score a hot meal-roasted chicken and two side for under $8.00 bucks. I maybe saw two other customers. I ate my lunch in the nearby sitting area in peace and quiet. I noticed they tend to cater to an elderly population with lots of prepared foods; deviled eggs, cold salads etc. This is not my scene personally but the service I received was friendly and I will be back again for their stellar lunch deal when I am in the area again. read more

I've learned one thing over the years, that you have to be patient. They're very community oriented, and hire the handicapped, and that's so great...but. Let me make it easy. I really appreciate being able to park within steps of the front door, shop for a weeks' worth of groceries, check out in a line that typically consists of me and one other shopper, and get out in record time. The nearby HEBs can't compete in ANY of those areas. The base prices at Randall's can be a little bit higher than HEB's, but time IS money to me and the increase is certainly not enough to make me hike into the HEB from the back 40 of their parking lot and wait in incredibly long lines (even their express lanes are ridiculous), etc., etc. And, if you use the Randall's card (be sure to use your actual phone number and you won't have to carry the card--just type in your phone number at the register), you get great deals as well as coupons for stuff you actually want to buy. The only complaint I have with this and all Randall's is the lack of ethnic food products. It's getting better and they do carry a decent selection of "gourmet" items, but even the neighborhood HEBs are completely lacking. The Hancock HEB and, of course, Central Market are much better than the Far West or Burnet HEBs. So, given a choice of going over to the Hancock HEB or to Central Market (and taking the better part of my day to get in and out of those stores), I'll run into Randall's and get most of what I need on a regular basis and make a foray to one of the other stores every now and then to get "exotics." read more

Went to Randall's last weekend because they carry Los Lobbos beer that my fiancé wanted. Saw that they were out so asked an employee walking by if they had more in the back, he grabbed another employee named Jarred who let me know they'd discontinued selling the beer. I was ready to accept it and move on but he went to the back and pulled out 2 packs of the beer. They were 50% off! Instead of just telling me no we are out he went out of his way to help me out and get me what I needed and the whole time with a smile on his face. Great service! They also provide you with paper bags unlike the HEB across the street that will sell you bags for $.10. Also, rumor has it that Randall's is more expensive but with the Randall's card prices are the same if not cheaper than HEB. read more
