I was a little overwhelmed when I came to this HEB for the first time. It's HUGE! But it is well layed out and has so many food options. They have a giant meat and seafood counter. The produce is amazing. The store is clean and easy to navigate. The staff are friendly and it has 10-15 lanes so small lines on my visit. With all the promotion for their "pickup" service and online discoubts available only through that service, I decided to give it a look-see. I started a shopping list and was initially pleased at the number of items with coupons or discounts. I figured, what the heck, I will give it a shot. It was a shot alright, to my ass. I should have stopped the minute the shopping list checkout had an "estimated" total. But I went ahead. After all, the receipt said the curbside service was FREE. We'll, it is not. By a long shot. This is a classic case of bait and switch. I realized there was a probkem when I saw what I was charged for salmon vs. The price tag on the salmon labal was $22.16. But I was charged $26.19. AN EXTRA $4.03! A markup of MORE THAN 18 percent! Surely, this was an error. But when I went to customer service, I had the feeling of being "the same old story" total the clerk. Just another idiot who thought "FREE" meant "free" and didnt read the fine print. With a sigh, she told me that for using the pickup service, there is a 4% markup on items. But that is just the beginning. The small print is a mind-numbing trip into Misleadingland. Basically, even with all the "online only" discounts (thd bait), HEB will slap on extra fees for a litany of reasons. In essence, there is no way to know what you will be charged until you place the order. In my case, it was nearly $40 more than what had been "estimated" on the initial order. Bottom line, if yoh shop at HEB, grab a cart and do it yourself. Bring coupons and look for others on the shelves. Don't fall for the "FREE" curbside pickup. It is an absolute, freaking scam Oh, here are the details about the fine print: H-E-B generally charges higher prices (a markup) on groceries ordered online for store pickup (Curbside) compared to in-store shopping. H-E-B's own help pages and terms explicitly state that online prices may vary from ads or in-store prices. Their terms note that prices at physical stores "may vary from the prices listed on the Service," and shopping list notes on the site/app indicate that prices can differ by "fulfillment method" (in-store vs. curbside or delivery) to "support" their "partners/services." In 2021, H-E-B publicly confirmed (via official replies on X/Twitter) an "up to a 3% item charge on each item to help cover the cost of the [Curbside/Delivery] program," separate from any personal shopper fee. More recent reporting and customer comparisons (including a 2025 Houston Chronicle article) continue to show higher prices for the same items when ordered for Curbside. In one example at an Austin store, a small set of items totaled about $35.61 for Curbside versus $32.66 in-store (a difference of roughly $3, or several cents more per item on products like onigiri and chorizo). H-E-B's response was that prices "may vary from online and in store" to support digital services, while still aiming to remain competitively priced. It's big alright and has lots of stuff. But I've been to better H-E-B's. Also their BBQ restaurant inside is quite disappointing and tonight when I attended an event there the chopped beef brisket sandwiches were very disappointing and they kept running out. The worst part of this location is its parking lot since it is such a big store with a small lot and it shares the lot with a few dozen other businesses. Don't expect a quick trip here!!! read more

Just picked up my curbside and they gave me an opened and half drank protein shake. So either the picker drank it themselves and gave it to us or the picker picked it up and noticed it was much lighter than the 5 others we bought and still packed it AWESOME! I refuse to believe all H.E.B's are the same. I've been to some that are pretty good but I think this one is the best in the Austin area. Most times people don't even acknowledge me when I need a fingerprint but now backs are just turned with no acknowledge of my presence. Not a hello how you doing eye contact nothing. if I could give it no stars, it would be no stars. We got the crawfish broil from the H-E-B on Whitestone Boulevard and my husband couldn't even eat it. It was so salty. We bought 2 1/2 2.6 pounds which is almost $30 so we had to end up throwing it away. We tried rinsing it before he threw it away to see if we could get some of the salt out and he loves crawfish and he did not like it and he could not eat it. worst stuff we ever ever had. read more

Do you use the HEB app? Right now they are running a 120 day contest to reward 120 customers throughout the HEB network in the state with a year's worth of groceries ($7000 limit) No purchase necessary. It's very easy to get your entry into the contest by opening your app, clicking on the barcode at the top and having the generated barcode scanned when you check out. The HEB at Hancock center has done a masterful job at managing a major renovation while staying open and still maintaining the highest quality and fresh foods you have come to expect from them. Everyone who works at this store is friendly and service is great. Especially now as the store gradually opens its newly constructed areas and products are now in new areas. They position floor staff throughout the store to help guide you to find the products you're looking for that has been moved. They still have quite a bit of construction underway but almost all of it is done overnight. Every time they open a newly renovated area, you notice how modern and welcom[[HIGHLIGHT]]ing it is. The BBQ restaurant is now open and has really good food. I'm anxious to se[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]e the finalized store later this year. I have shopped at this location since 1989. Even though it's not the closest to me. But to my family, this is OUR store and always will be. Also, don't worry. Third strike, and I'm out! I've ordered from the HEB app a few times over the past few years, but my experience has been getting worse and worse. 1) A few weeks ago I had sent my order the night before for delivery between 8-9am, before I had to leave for work at 9:15am. At 9:27am I get a text saying my building code doesn't work and that they are driving my groceries back to the store. No text or call asking for the code (the code was correct and had always worked in the past). I had to call corporate to request resending my order at noon, when I had to come home from work again to receive the order. I paid $20 in fees to get this hassle in service. 2) I finished putting in my order in the app tonight and chose a delivery time. I quickly reviewed my order and not 1 minute later it says I lost my reservation and now I had to wait 1.5 hours for dinner. Again, I paid $20 in fees to get rushed to choose another time before it also ran out. Such a stressful experience. It would have been more relaxing to pay this amount at a nice, accommodating restaurant. 3) I used a $100 gift card and a $50 gift card from my family for payment and HEB only acknowledged $66 on one and $16 for the other. That's a pretty darn steep fee for my family to pay in order for me to use less than half of the total they paid toward my groceries. I'm done with this crazy runaround. They stock the best selection of items I usually buy, especially in the "Healthy Living" department. My time to pick up the curbside was 6:30 pm, and I arrived at around 8:30 pm. I was informed that they can only hold the rotisserie chicken for four hours. Even if the product was pulled from the shelf at five, it should have been within the 4-hour limit. There is nothing on the website that tells you that, or maybe have an employee call the customer. The reason I'm making this review as it was an essential part of a dinner that night. Otherwise, BEB has done a great job with Curbside. read more

This is actually my favorite HEB :) They have a huuuge selection of produce, bakery, meat (seafood can be fresher), kombucha and fancier vegan/gf, bulk section, cheese and non-perishables like international food section was pretty good too. They also have lots of option for ice cream and freezer sweet treats, which is awesome. Clean and bright spaces, you will almost always have to wait to check out but the line moves quickly, staffs are friendly. I love HEB!! read more

[[HIGHLIGHT]]HEB in Bastrop continues to be an adventure. After years of renovation that never seems to end it has not gotten any better.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] A 30 minute trip is easily an hour because of the confusion for customers. The employees walk around confused as well, pulling orders is a necessary step for growth but train the employees on customer service. They all look pissed off, they leave their carts blocking isles and don't seem to respond to the customers needs to get around. The looks you get now having to ask where the shelves have been moved to should not be a look of pain to an employee. The final straw today for me is being directed to the 15 and under check out knowing you have more than 15 should not be another look from the cashier that I did something wrong. Having to apologize for feeling bad for her is not my problem. She said it happens all the time, sprouts will be open soon and the completion should make you more customer service centric where your monopoly may be threatened. read more

Customer service is really slipping. Carts are in the parking lot instead of in front of the store (especially the smaller carts). Staff seems largely indifferent toward customers. Produce quality has declined. Curbside shoppers block the isles and are oblivious to the fact that they are blocking everyone else. Management needs to seriously pay more attention. read more

This is the 3rd time I didn't receive all items I ordered when doing delivery. I ordered 2 salads that weren't delivered.

So I had a good experience at this HB lots of selection lots of helpful customer service associates just one downside I bought some cotton candy. Grapes from here took them home wash them took the grapes out of the sink to discover that the grapes had a spider on them, the lesson here ladies and gentlemen always wash your produce. read more

This HEB is close to UT. the wine and craft beer selections are amazing. The produce is usually fresh and varied, and the bakery has lots of cakes, tortillas and breads. There is ample parking, and this store has enough employees to help the customers. read more

Let me just say,H.E.B has some great employees,as I was one many years ago. As a whole H.E.B doesn't mean well by some the customers. Especially,the black(African American)customers. I have been shopping at H.E.B stores since 1991 when my father retired military in Texas. I worked at a south location for a while. While I worked there not only were some of the customers biased against interacting with me. The management gave me a I could care less attitude towards me. Showing other Caucasian and Hispanic employees/customers with more care. That being said. I've lived in Austin for twenty some odd years. Never once have or will I ever steal or have the thought enter my mind to do so..why because I'm a good person. Regardless of what the H.E.B establishment believes. They have managed to do the unthinkable. They hire black(African American) people. With the intent to have them subject other black(African American)customers to prejudice. Of course,with the excuse that, we aren't a prejudiced or racist company. Especially,since through affirmative action we hire black(African American)people. That being said. Not once have I ever been arrested or caught on camera for stealing from the company. Yet,every time I go into most locations like this one whether in uniform or as a civilian. They have managed to have some of the Hispanic and African American staff follow me around like I've stolen something or I'm about to steal something. Making my shopping experience the worst ever. That goes for myself and many other black(African American patrons. Now,why would a company like H.E.B do something like that to me or others like me. Especially,if they claim to hire and serve us in the name of "equality". They do these things like as if some of us black people are oblivious at the fact we're being watched and followed and at times not handed change back in our hands like we're all diseased. This is a review of FAVOR, which is owned by HEB, but they don't have a way to review them. Favor, to me, is a rip-off. I ordered breakfast tacos for my office the other day. I was shown an approximate amount for what would be charged. I know that it can change SLIGHTLY after the order is finally delivered, and I understand that a service charge is part of paying for the service. But I never thought I'd be charged 50% more for each item I ordered! My final receipt showed each item and the total taxed amount for each item. But what was also charged was this extra amount of 50% for each every item! I had to go through 2 people via chat support (and I seriously wonder if these people are not in the country because of their lack of knowledge of some basic concepts), and neither one of them could tell me what these extra charges were. They totaled over $25 in extra fees! For an order of barely $70 that already included a service charge, someone should be able to explain what that is! Again, both individuals took WAAAAY too long to "research" this and still could not tell me what the charges were for. Again, this was not just a nickel-and-dime type charge. This was significant. Because of this I have to strongly say that anyone should STAY AWAY from Favor for delivery. It saddens me because I love HEB, but this is a reflection on them. read more

This H‑E‑B doesn't seem to get allot of love on Yelp. It doesn't have a fancy market hall or LEED rating like the Muller HEB does but it's accessible, has tons of parking, and is one of the larger H‑E‑B stores in the immediate area. There's a pretty nice international aisle which has a pretty good selection of goods to serve many international students. There's an extensive health section with bulk spices and gluten free items to satisfy any central austinite. The beer and wine selection is ok, not as fancy as the far west location but probably better than most suburban HEBs. As for negatives, the store has a two rows of registers system that can be confusing. It doesn't carry some of the hipper brands that muller does. If you park to far from the front you might be asked for some change. Still I like this store as it's my H‑E‑B and I can actually walk here if I'm in the mood. read more
