If I could give 0 stars or negative stars I would. Since when is a temporary license not a valid government issued ID?!? Oh right as long as my picture is on the document it's valid and CAN be used to cash a check. If this is against your company policy, why was I able to cash my check back in April at the one on Riverside? Let's face it the girl at customer service was just in her feelings because I caught her picking favorites. Some people weren't standing in the line and she took care of them before me. When she heard me mentioning it to my boyfriend that she literally had asked for the next person in line and waved up someone who wasn't in the proper line who hadn't been waiting half the time I had. When she asked if there was a problem after she eavesdropped on my subtle conversation with my boyfriend I told her it's whatever and to finish what she was doing. (I mention that she was eavesdropping because I purposefully talked quietly so that way there wouldn't be the next episode of Maury in HEB. I practically whispered to my boyfriend what I said and she somehow heard. So if she didn't do anything wrong ..... why on earth did she feel the need to intently eavesdrop on our conversation? Seems like a guilty conscience to me. Ok-- back to the rest of it) So she finishes with that customer, and I approach the counter. As I am pulling out the check my boyfriend tries to make small talk with her and she acted like acknowledging his existence was going to give her the plague. She acted like responding to him would be an insult to her existence. ACTUALLY LET ME CORRECT MYSELF..... she acted like him even speaking to her in the first place was an insult to her existence. To spare any more awkwardness.... I hurried up and put my check on the counter. She examined it closely and asked me if I was sure the check writer spelled my name right. I look down and acknowledged the question and said yes. She gives me this look like I have the weirdest name in the world. (SIDE NOTE: My name is Loren-- sounds similar to Lauren. Literally same name but different dialect. My mother named me after Sophia Loren. So my spelling isn't common but it's not unheard of) After the weird look she gave me, she sighed like this 2 minute conversation had taken hours... then says there's a problem with my check and that she had never seen it written as one thousand (it was missing no/100). And she would have to clear it with her supervisor before proceeding to see if it was acceptable... She went to the back and came back and asked for my ID. I pull out my paper one and she quickly responded with a chuckle and a spiteful smirk. She stated I need an "actual ID." I was like this is what the dps gave me until I get my new one. So it's my "actual ID." She wouldn't take it. Rather than create more of a fuss dealing with this unreasonable, inconsiderate, incompetent, and bratty employee ..... I decided to walk out the store. I was only talking to a wall at this point. I wasn't be heard. My needs were not being met and she didn't care to meet them either. The truth is, she was finding any and every excuse to not face the music, swallow her ego, be apologetic, and politely take care of her next customer with a shiny star customer service experience like a real customer service representative would have done. Instead she served me with a bratty and rude attitude after she knew she messed up and had an unhappy customer. So she didn't give outstanding customer service! Her performance was beyond the typical substandard when you think of substandard performance. If I had the time today, I would have asked to speak with her supervisor, because there are plenty of people, like myself, in the Austin area desiring to have a job and they would have gone above and beyond to correct things. You know it's bad when it took more time to find parking, than it took for staying put in the store. As soon as I came in, I was disgusted by how outdated the carts were. I tried ignoring this fact and tried to focus on what I needed-- groceries. But, as I was perusing through the fresh produce aisles, I only found myself even more disappointed with the quality. I literally put my cart back and ran out the door so fast. In addition, this HEB is located to I-35, where the homeless population is dense. Don't be surprised if a stranger knocks on your window asking for money... HEB IS THE BEES KNEES, but for some weird reason, disappoints in Austin. I love this location and I have shopped here since it opened. I remember when this location was where 24 Hour Fitness is now. I'm glad they're doing what they can regarding the pandemic. I wish though, that they would make their employees wear masks correctly. It's disconcerting to see a stocker with the mask not covering his nose. Like how do these people not realize that the nose and the mouth are both connected to the lungs, and by not covering the nose, they could be putting others in grave danger? If you're asymptomatic, you could spread COVID-19 to someone else who could die from it. No store does more? I think you could be doing more. Also, your service personnel up front are really helpful. This use to be my favorite place to shop, but as of late it has turned into a horrendous place to shop. I'm Guessing, like everywhere else ,they can't find employees and it shows. For DECADES they used to be open 24 hours, which filled a really important function in Austin for the folks who live at night and/or have social anxiety but still like to get out and do "normal life" but at night, but I guess they can't be bothered these days. Guess fricken walmart gets my grocery dough instead, since they at least still have 24 locations. We just moved to the area, and while this location of HEB is wonderful, the store itself does not live up to the HEB hype. I'm not sure if it is the way it is because it is known as one of the "college HEBs", but they are constantly packed with long lines and semi filled shelves. The workers themselves are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. If you go any time past 10am, you're guaranteed a wait, so be prepared. Their tofu/vegan section isn't great and meat section is definitely hit or miss. They are usually fully stocked on the middle aisles though with shelf stable items. The HEB pickup is wonderful, you just need to prepare early in the week because the slots go very quickly!! This HEB is clean and so are the bathrooms. The fresh pizza area always smells delicious but maybe try the Mueller HEB if you're not into the crowds. read more

I have been in Pflugerville for years. I enjoy going this store seeing the same employees. Always Friend nice and clean store. Employees are extended family. Thank you for hiring people with disabilities. Thank you for letting disabled high school students work as part of their education. My best visits to store is when these students are there. Other customers might not get it. They are using social skills, problem solving and working staying on task. Removed a star not as much selection. I don't need 40oz Extra Chunky Peanut Butter. There are still Empty shelves. For the size of the store. HEB does excellent job. I cannot wait for the new store to open reduce the pressure on this store. I have been having my groceries delivered for a very long time I no longer leave the house so it's best to get them delivered but first they just opened the door and came right in I called the customer service dept. and they said it was because I didn't write the instruction not to come in so i wrote the instructions a different way and they still walked in then they gave me a number for the favor people who were delivering for them but it was a discounted number. then they started leaving the groceries in the yard. I'm handicapped so in the yard was not good the ants ate the food by the tie my husband could get home from work it's been one thing after the other once i hand to pay someone to come over and put my groceries inside the door after I paid to get delivery. read more

The quality of the fruits and vegetables at the HEB'S in odessa Texas has gone down terribly. These store get the worst of their produce. Lost of fruit are rotten and molded. They have cantaloupes that have been frozen and the thawed out. The Texas Blueberries were horrible ,Tasteless Watermelons. There is no more pride in produce selection. Ahhh, this is my local HEB. Really close by, and open late, it might even be 24/7, but don't quote me on that. There's lot of things to love here. The crowd is on the younger side as students and young professionals frequent this HEB. There's a large area to chill out now near the hot deli section. The boxed sushi here is always fresh since it seems to move quickly so they replenish it more frequently. At times you'll find a Security Cop who strolls around in his new Segway, which helps keeps an eye on the situation (not "The Situation" himself, but the situation going on at HEB). Calm down, girls (and boyz). Alas - a few drawbacks. It is a younger crowd, but it's usually very crowded and very busy. So you'll often be challenged if you just wanted to zip-in and zip-out for a quickie. The parking can be a drag as the volume increases, and the Service Counter always has a long line. Overall - this isn't the BEST HEB around, but it's pretty damn good and I do like shopping here. read more

I've heard many a Texan profess deep affection for HEB stores. Me, I consider myself an HEB skeptic. Or did. I have been truly impressed with my neighborhood HEB's response to the coronavirus lockdown. For now I set aside my grumbling about the chain having a near monopoly in many Texas grocery markets, my bemoaning of the withered, tiny butcher/meat counter, and my complaints about the lack of layout standardization among HEB stores. Those things suddenly seem less important in a crisis. Recently I've observed the store do an excellent job of managing social distancing issues. I've admired how they've improvised to address shortfalls on essentials like toilet paper and hand sanitizer by bringing in new brands and limiting purchase quantities. I finally feel that real connection with the chain that so many others seem to come by more easily. I've long known about HEB's commitment to community involvement but it's never touched me personally. Until now. I'll continue to gripe about the prevalence of low-grade beef (USDA Select) in their offerings. And the fact that I have to eat chicken for several days if I don't want to freeze that jumbo pack of thigh pieces. Oh, and the puzzling arrangement of the pharmacy/drug section. But it's nice to finally feel the kind of affinity so many others do. Thank you for your response in the time of coronavirus, HEB. Hats off! read more

They've since walked that back, saying that they'll state that masks are still required but won't escalate with customers who refuse to wear them, but their initial dropping of the mask requirement is unconscionable. * Some of the pharmacy staff are pretty rude. Their Half and Half Cream is not fresh. Three times I have purchased their product and it has gone bad within a couple days of using it, with an expiration date of weeks to go. It is not a matter of me not handling the product correctly but that the cream is not fresh. I have a sub-zero refrigerator that keeps all my foods even longer and fresher than what my other coolers have in the past. So, it is H-E-B selling products that are not as fresh as they leave you to believe (and it's not the acid in the coffee either that makes their cream curdle, as their cream gets thick and gooey in the container). Two times their cream lasted about 10 days before going bad and this last time, with an expiration date of Jun 12, it went bad after two days, on May 13. I will be shopping at Whole Foods, spend a little more for the quality and not have my morning cup of coffee ruined due to H-E-B's inferior cream. read more

Ordered a birthday cake for grandson at HEB Cypress 24000 block of hwy. 290 with creme icing. The creme was rancid and the staff did not seem to care. The quality in years past was excellent, but not any more. Lots of teens working arond the store constantly checking their cell phone and not paying attention to the customers. It usually has the stuff I need, and the coupons there make it so tempting to buy stuff you don't need. While the 24/7 hours might be convenient, especially for all the college students that come here, it also makes the store pretty messy. If the store never closes, it just stays dirty...forever I guess? Also, if you ever go late at night, they basically have nothing in the produce section. Decent grocery store with lots of selection. They carry a lot of local Texas brands as well which is nice if you want to support local farms and businesses. They'll have local businesses scattered around giving out samples as well so it feels nicer than a typical grocery store. My favorite part of the store is the meat section. Its priced pretty nicely and you'll see coupons hanging on the racks for discounts if you're feeling thrifty. Its always packed here, even at night since they also carry a pretty decent selection of beer and wine. This HEB is pretty much your one stop shop for everything. read more

Whenever I leave Texas I'm sad because I know there won't be an HEB around. I don't know what it is, maybe i just romanticize HEB since I was around them so much as a kid, but they're just better than normal grocery stores. The employees are all helpful, and it rarely seems like the place is understaffed. Sure, it gets overrun with students in the evening since it's so close to the university, but I've always felt like they had the right number of people at the registers to handle the situation. The various meat markets, sushi, and bakery all make great stuff. They have a wide selection of pre-made foods that are all delicious. It seems like they're constantly updating and improving things. I like to do my shopping early at around 6 to 7 am and I noticed on multiple occasions many employees kind of bulldoze me (a customer) with the giant cart they use to stock items. I think the customer should come first and the employee should yield to the customer instead of assuming im going to get out if the way. They don't even say excuse me, they literally just barrel through. If you're going to expect me to yield, at least say excuse me. I've also noticed employees at this location will pretend not to see me when I'm trying to get an item and they just so happen to be blocking that section with the giant cart thing they use to stick shelves. I've gotten a better grip of this HEB after many years. Here are the rules of shopping: 1. Never go on the first day of the month or the 15th or 16th. Those are paydays for people and their refrigerators must just be empty as hell, because they load up the baskets until food is coming out the sides. 2. Don't go after midnight if you need a lot of groceries. The stockers block everything. Only really useful for a milk run. (or a candy run, always good) 3. Don't even bother getting any of your cold items until the very end. You never know what it going to happen at the front lines. You may choose the world's slowest cashier. 4. Don't forget your damn bags! I don't want to be behind you in line the moment you attempt to checkout 200 dollars worth of groceries with no bags! Anyways, I still love this place. HEB - you got it WRONG on Valentines day. You removed all of your individual sales flowers and replaced them with horribly expensive arrangements. An elderly man pulled one rose from a bouquet and asked if he could buy the one rose. The cashier said no and to put the rose back. On Valentines I saw two young boys - maybe middle school age looking for flowers. The adult was not beside them but they were walking around jaw dropped. I asked the cashier where all the loose flowers were? She said and I quote - 'we put them up' "we do it every Valentines". HEB - you have forgotten who your customers are. This is a big mistep. When 2/3rds of the department is bare pull the loose flowers from the back and let the HEB shoppers of all incomes, ages, and sizes select. I am really in disbelief over this. read more

This is not a ding against HEB but a product they carry. I purchased a Gift card for $50 with multiple stores and restaurants from "Choose your card.com." Only there was no gift card- I had to go their website to "redeem" the card. I just wanted a gift card not an ordeal. Called customer service for Choose your card and they couldn't help me redeem because it needed some time to post, "call back tomorrow." Tried the next day and still couldn't redeem online. Called customer service again, waited 30 minutes and then the agent said its a problem with my browser, can't go through a VPN. arrrrrgggghhh. finally got it redeemed and needless to say will avoid those redeemable gift cards forever.... read more

I shopped at 701 Capital of Texas H.E.B. I was at the check out & I had a question about an item that had a special. The checker didn't really speak to me & I found that to be odd but the challenged young man did. I said I would just go to customer service & he told me that they no longer have customer service. So, I went ahead & went to another register & my experience was even worse there. So I'm thinking no more customer service but the cashiers are not trained to take on this task, I did not feel like I was in the US anymore. Real weird experience. read more
