I've been really impressed with the level of customer service at this CVS, particularly in the pharmacy. I had a problematic insurance situation, and both the pharmacist and the technicians really went out of their way to get the mess figured out. This was a situation that stretched over several days, and required the pharmacy to make multiple phone calls to the insurance call center, then ultimately get creative with how they filled the prescription so that it fit within the insurance company's requirement (they didn't do anything wrong, there was just a glitch in the system that prevented the prescription from being filled even after it was approved, and they managed to outsmart the system). Best of all, I didn't have to go to the pharmacy and deal with all of this in person. They answered my phone calls, worked it themselves, then called me back with updates and the ultimate resolution. When I went back for a flu shot several weeks later, the pharmacist remembered me. Oh, and I love that they text you when your prescription is ready for pick up. Great. I noticed that another review commented that no one greeted them as they came and went. Perhaps after seeing that review, the store manager corrected the problem, because now the person working the register by the door ALWAYS says hello. The first few times it happened, I was caught off guard because it so wasn't expected. I wasn't sure he was even talking to me, so I ignored him, but then it happened again and again. So, good on CVS for responding to this feedback. Like others, I don't normally review chains, but I thought this was an example of excellent customer service that should be noted. read more

This CVS IS HORRENDOUS!! There are zero reasons to patronize this location. No employees (all DIY registers); Much of stock is in locked cabinets (try finding an employee to unlock one!); reduced Pharmacy hours; no baskets, carts, or using your own shopping bags! Went to get a Covid test and pick up Rx. Lady working the drive thru window was super rude. I couldn't hear anything she was saying through the speaker so she was getting irritated at me for that. Because of the miscommunication I paid but left before getting my medication. I was more focused on getting the covid test handled. When I realized I didn't have my RX I went inside and kindly asked for them. The woman working the window rolled her eyes and gave so much attitude and was pissed I left it. If I could give zero stars to this pharmacy I would. To let you know how strongly I feel about this, know this is the only yelp review I've ever written. Do not use this pharmacy. I know you're thinking, how could it be this bad? It is. The pharmacy provides horrible customer service if you do manage to get to one of them. The main store is nice, and has a manager that was able to calm me down after being hung up on. So, if you need anything other than pharmacy by all means try these guys. Haven't had a positive experience with this pharmacy in months. Today, they opened 10 minutes late. For people online they only have one register working. I've waited several months to post anything negative because I know how hard these poor folks are working during the pandemic and how much flack they get from customers,. My daughters doctor accidentally called in her prescription here after I swore I would never come back and I didn't think it was worth having it transferred. I mean if you love wasting time, dealing with rude people who appear to go out of their way to be unhelpful, this is for sure the place for you. The drive thru line is always closed, the indoor pharmacy line is wrapped around the store and the store is nasty not at all somewhere I would wait. CVS should close this run down location and start fresh with new staff. Looking forward to the new H‑E‑B with a drive up pharmacy, but until then I'll drive a few extra minutes not to have the rude staff here crap on my day and waste my time. read more

1. Each time I go, the people working all seem unhappy to be there. They socialize amongst each other and the minute a customer walks up, you get a half ass greeting. They make you feel as if you are interrupting or like they would rather be somewhere else. 2. If you need a refill, you will have to call multiple times to make sure they are filling it. All to arrive, and still not have your prescription filled. They swear they don't receive the emails or requests from the doctor. I'm not sure if they are behind on prescriptions or just flat out lose them, but it definitely won't get filled the first time it's called in. Once I had to deal with them for a month, I caught on that they were not going to have it ready. I called the doctor on the same call as the pharmacist was on the phone (I did this while the CVS working rudely cut me off and put me on hold) to sort out what was happening. Once the doctor sorted it and called them out for lying about not receiving the prescription, the pharmacist hung up! I called back and was placed on hold for over 10minutes. You know they have caller id, so this was done intentionally. I called from a new number and the call was answered in less than a minute! Meanwhile on the other line, my original call was still placed on hold! I can't believe how incompetent and immature the people working at CVS have been. I was holding off on this review in hopes that it was just a mix up, but this situation has gone too far. read more

DO NOT use this CVS. They are not stocked. They are so busy they don't give you complete information and waste your time and your doctors time recalling in prescriptions. They cannot confirm when medication will arrive that's ordered. They have sunk to a level so low it is shocking and it's dangerous. My husband waited 10 days for a medication he ran out of today, we had to go there, found out it's still "on order" so we had to have it transferred to a different CVS that had it in stock. This is the worst CVS pharmacy team I've ever met. This happened at the store located at 2101 S. Lamar Blvd. (1430). I do not recommend this store to anyone. They kept us waiting, especially my mother who is elderly and needed to get 3 vaccination shots, for a 3:30 p.m. appointment, and only addressed any concerns we had with dismissive comments and laughter. A specific, I pretty this person was a pharmacy technician, named Abby turned to me and literally blamed me for my frustration and trying to attempt to alleviate the situation. My mother was dismissed. I wasn't even talking to her. I wanted my answer so I could find an alternative to the already bad customer service I had already received. She made it all about her. I yelled to notify the pharmacy that we had been waiting for a long time. One employee, name Abby, consistently butted in by saying "I don't why she's looking at me," "I didn't say anything to her," she turned her face to other customers asking them what they thought. She told me that "[she] didn't think I should be speaking at all or like anything to HER, specifically." I was speaking generally, and I didn't pinpoint anyone. The Ops Manager is Hal. I would like this situation addressed possibly escalated to a higher authority in the company because this was a very rude pharmacy team. The pharmacist who vaccinated my mom didn't address anything. She heard everything. She literally said "I don't know what that was about. I didn't hear anything." She was 2 ft. away. Please do not go to this pharmacy location. read more

I used to enjoy this place: it is close to my apartment, the do digital receipts, it is a national brand... But ever since the humiliating and embarrassing encounter with one of the pharmacy members, the experience is not and will never be the same. Now I have to actively avoid her every time I come in to drop off or pick up. This wouldn't be bad except she is the only person who can do clinical entry I think. This is the closest CVS to me, so it's disappointing that it is predatory and disorganized. I had a Dr. send in a prescription I needed immediately around 8pm. Gave CVS a half hour or so to make sure it was filled. Came in and they told me they were out of the very common antibiotic. So I called up another 24-hour CVS Pharmacy, only to be told that when this pharmacy had closed at 9pm, they had left my prescription open in their system so they couldn't do anything with it. Had to wait til this location opened again in the morning to get the antibiotics I needed. This CVS also has a nearly empty parking lot for most of the day and night but will boot you immediately if you leave the lot. It will cost you $100 to the guy who just sits in his car watching and waiting for people to leave the lot. Anyway, I'll be taking my business to the Walgreens, which at least isn't a complete extortion. read more

This pharmacy is unethical , unfriendly and untimely. They claimed they didn't get my doctors prescription after they sent 3 times, when I finally got word, it was in after 2 days, the pharmacy was so short staffed, the front end cashier was pulled in to be a pharmacy tech. She personally told me "I don't work here" after I asked if the pharmacy always had service like this. I asked here why she was there and she said she worked in the front as a cashier, but was bagging pills and verifying IDs and insurance day 1. THEN, they only had 2/3 of my prescription, said they would contact me when it was in because it was ordered...1 week later.. no call , then went back in, AGAIN, said the same thing,,, then 3 weeks later said that the "doctor must have canceled the prescription" with a tone,,This was an outright lie, I confirmed with, my doctor. The downtown location is convenient, but I've been disappointed by the pharmacy so many times I'd rather drive further. It's absolutely impossible to get a hold of anyone by phone. For the past three days I've been trying to transfer a Rx to a different location through the CVS app with no luck. So then I've been calling this pharmacy only to be put on hold for 5 mins, then hung up on. Additionally, on two occasions a pharmacy technician has blatantly violated HIPAA and had an unpleasant attitude. Will not be getting my prescriptions filled here anymore! read more

I have COVID, this is my excuse for making the mistake to order from our local CVS. After 8 hours, my pick up order was not ready. I called and the lady that answered kept calling me, "Honey," and she had no idea how to help. She asked if I was calling the right store, she gave the wrong street name, I called the correct store. She didn't know where she worked! She told me the order would be filled and I would get an email. "We are open 24 hours." The store is Supposed to be open but it frequently closes at 10:00, she actually argued with me that the store was a 24 hour store and would be open. Guess what? The store closed at 10:00, I don't have my order, we still need medication for COVID. CVS is a good company, why is this store allowed to function so poorly? read more

Terrible customer service. Forgetful pharmacists. Dirty store. Every prescription is not filled correctly or they forget to fill.

Warning: do not get a Covid test here. The pharmacists are highly unethical and will give you false information because they aren't held accountable for spreading misinformation (further contributing to the current pandemic). I needed a test to see an elderly relative for the last time ever, and the pharmacist advised I come in on a Saturday (versus a few days earlier in the week) because she "guaranteed" I would get my test results within 2-3 days; she even went as far as to warn me that I would get results too early if I tested any earlier (I needed results within 72 hours of a flight and triple-confirmed with her this would be the right timing). We are on Day 4 without results. CVS will claim no responsibility for the spread of false information. I would understand if they had told me tests had been taking longer, or that it was generally 3-4 days, etc - but shame on me for trusting pharmacists to be true medical professionals. After numerous calls to CVS over the past couple of days, I hit a dead end; in fact, the pharmacists at CVS were giving me numbers to labs that weren't even associated with CVS - they just happened to have the same name and the CVS pharmacist obviously did a lazy Google search. I ended researching online for hours, found the lab, found a number, and got ahold of the actual lab (for those wondering, it's Helix Labs and their number is 844 211 2070). Helix Labs was VERY responsive and found my test...and confirmed that it hasn't even been shipped to the lab yet (it is Day 4). While CVS is pretending that "processing times" is what is creating delays, it is in fact their inefficiency and unwillingness to ship the samples quickly. Once the sample reaches Helix Labs, it generally takes less than 24 hours. The problem continues to be CVS, even though they will push the blame to everyone else but themselves. Moral is - do not trust the pharmacists at this location to have your best interests at heart. I've had to change my trip, and am praying that I make it time. read more

This place is trash. Parked my car in the parking lot, walked across the street to grab something and then came back and went into cvs to purchase something. When I came back out, my car had a boot on it. And a guy pulled up and said it would cost $100 dollars to remove it. I asked where the sign was and he pointed to a sign that was not visible from where I entered the lot. I told him that it wasn't visible so I didn't want to pay. We argued a bit and he proceeded to tell me if I didn't pay he would call the cops on my fatass. The guy also reeked of marijuana and he had a passenger that was in the car clearly watching pornography. There were kids in the parking lot and i told him that I don't think it's professional to be jerking off in a parking lot. and he said he can do what he wants because it's private property. This store has the worst service. Today when I went to pickup a prescription, there was a Pharmacist and 2 workers behind the counter. There were 7 people in line to pickup prescriptions only the high school student was working the "pick-up" counter. The other lady was working the drive-thru while the Pharmacist ignored everyone including the 4 telephone calls on hold. This is the 3rd time at this location and can tell you to stay away. They have the worst customer service I have ever seen by a CVS. I'll look to transfer my prescriptions to a company that cares. read more

If you go to this CVS, watch out!!! You may get your car booted and may cost you $100 to remove the boot. Boot company been known to wait in lot amd boot your tire if you park and go to CVS and walk next door to Office Depot. Heard from several people now that if you park closer to one of the 2 businesses and visit the other one first, you will get $100 boot ok your tire. The CVS states the owner of the property hired boot company to only boot if parking there and going anywhere else except CVS or Office Depot. Always an awful experience at CVS. Wish my insurance would work at another pharmacy. I scheduled a same day covid test. Completed the online forms, received a confirmation code via email, drove to this location, woman at the covid testing drive thru was extremely rude. She said YOUR NOT IN MY SYSTEM. I confirmed the address, 2101 s Lamar and tried to give her the confirmation code but she would only say I was not in the system, thus no test. I called the MinuteClinic customer service to complain. I hate to cut a place from five to three stars, but upon actual use of the new CVS, the place has four significant problems: 1. The physical drive-thru. It's at an odd angle and almost impossible to maneuver one's car to access the main line's access point without getting out of one's car to access the drive-thru tray, unless you're in a truck or SUV. 2. The absurdity of CVS's requirement that you sign on a physical chart for receiving any meds. Although I was used to this in their in-store pharmacy pickups, I simply assumed that, like Walgreens, they'd figured out a workaround for drive-thru. Nope. You're awkwardly handed a thick sheef of paper to sign. I know this has something to do with HIPAA, but physicallly signing for every single prescription received is just absurd, particularly if it's a refill one gets monthly, and why CVS insists on this is beyond me. 3. The useless second lane. Since one cannot sign the required release form (on a thick chart) without being handed it through the main window in the other line, the second lane seems to serve no point whatsoever besides futility and frustration. The thick paper sheef certainly can't fit in the tube chute. 4. Hours. The Walgreens a half-mile down the road is open 24/7. CVS closes at 10. Why? 5. Prices. Compared even to Walgreens, let alone H-E-B or Costco, CVS seems to have remarkably high prices even on basic staples like TP and soda. If your value proposition is convenience (e.g. people willing to pay more for something instead of having to drive further from it), it isn't helping matters at all that both H-E-B and Walgreens are only about a mile away. Really, CVS, I expect more. Figure out a way to deliver scrips without requiring physical signatures for every single one. Reconfigure drive-thrus so that those of us without Hummers can reach the basic trays without opening car doors. I gave CVS a shot but will be returning to Walgreens for my business. read more

It was awful. I went to the drive through to pick up a prescription. Something that should only take about two or three minutes. It ended up taking about fifteen minutes. Ninth circle of hell in pharmacy form. CVS needs to take a wrecking ball to the store, salt the earth, perform some exorcism rituals and then rebuild. The reviews are true. The pharmacy workers are rude, the customers are rude back, forming a vicious spiral of mutual dislike. The drive thru is a sun baked desolate vortex that will consume so much of your time ("But there's only one car in front of me, how bad can it be?" you foolishly think). A prescription sent by a doctor never gets filled until you go to the store and then ask for it -- so you always have to visit this CVS twice to get it. There's just. ... always... always some kind of problem. There's always an issue. Like the refill on your online profile has a prescription number that doesn't work using the automated system. Or the order mailed to your house, in an effort to not go to this store, never arrives. Or a prescription quantity changes after the second refill for no reason. It's bad. It's really bad. read more

Very expensive compared to other pharmacies. But they also do something unforgivable in putting their convenience before their customer's welfare. The last 3 times I have needed a prescription for oxycodone (cancer surgery) this CVS pharmacy on S. Lamar has stated that they cannot sell any since the DEA puts limits on total monthly oxycodone sales to customers from this pharmacy. I called the DEA in Houston and they stated that CVS is being dishonest and just doesn't want to mess with the extra paperwork needed to fill the prescription. The DEA stated that there are no DEA limits on how much oxycodone any individial pharmacy may sell. How mean and uncaring and dishonest is that from CVS? I later called the CVS main line and they acknowledged that it is not the DEA with these limits but some unknown agency that they will not name. Seriously? This kind of dishonest and uncaring behavior at their customer's expense is unforgivable. read more

I am generally not keen on reviewing a chain but I have had good experiences with this CVS so I wanted to share it with others. I have no allegiance to my drugstores but when my work insurance quit accepting Walgreen's I have become fairly exclusive to this CVS and it is leaps and bounds better than most. The store portion is your standard CVS setup but where this store shines is in the pharmacy. The staff they have is knowledgeable and friendly which can be hard to find with the big box pharmacies. I would recommend this location to anyone needing to setup a consistent pharmacy to fill their prescriptions. read more
