This 7-Eleven sits nestled between Wild About music and a jewelry store with another convenience store next to that. They do offer some hot breakfast items and pizza slices along with some grab and go items, including donuts. They have a decent wine selection, and I was surprised the prices were not exorbitant. One yelper mentioned that homeless people will confront you at the entrance and that was true on my visit as well. They have an ATM inside along with a machine to copy keys. You'll see the usual weenie rollers and a modest coffee bar as well. If you're looking for a better food offering, try the royal blue grocery 20 feet away from their door. read more

Terrible. The clerk was horrible. I used the 7-eleven app to pay for my purchase, but the clerk embarrassed me in front of the other customers by grabbing my items and claiming I needed additional prove to show I paid. I have never felt so embarrassed in my life. This clerk gave me a hard time the night before as well. This 7-eleven location is right beside my hotel, but I will never return again. A very clean 7-11 in downtown Austin, only knock is there were tons of homeless folks around the entrance begging and almost blocking the door. It was convenient to our hotel and super clean inside. Excellent Have been to this location and many others around Texas many times. Great prices and never had a problem with Skimmers at the gas pumps or in the store. Employees are always very friendly and great place to stop for Gas and Food. Clean and very Easy to Get in/out. The location at 969 is horrible. Many of the machines are out of order. The store is unclean and the food temperatures are questionable! Only ONE employee is customer service oriented. The manager is rude, disrespectful and a very poor representation of the 7-11 company. If he is an example,I'm so happy that QUIK Trip is opening a station right across the street!! The parking lot ALWAYS has trash in it and half of the time all of the pumps don't work! Where can I find the connection to buy into 7-Eleven and bringing them to Lexington? Never mind, I'd need lots of money to do that. Until then, I'll keep blowing my money and traveling the world, visiting cities that have places that I can't find at home. Congress Avenue is basically the central locale of Austin. So this location is quite central. I was pleasantly surprised to pass this location, do a double take and then head back a few steps. Wine, that was my agenda. I was pleasantly surprised to find wine here in the cooler and it was even priced cheaper than it was at a nearby liquor store. The girl at check out seemed a bit preoccupied in how much longer she had until clock out, but besides her, I was sold on 7-Eleven... This place still rates 4 stars for convenience, since it's located just across the street from my office, but the place gets only 1 star for service because the employees are disengaged to say the least. Twice I have had to call out to employees stocking shelves, etc, to come up to the front counter to check me out or serve me up some taquitos. And they are not conversational, either. I totally get what Juan H means in his review from yesterday. I have had far superior service at the much smaller, but more comfy, Ana's Mart around the corner on 8th Street, so I'll be going back there soon. read more

I come here during lunch break sometimes if i'm in need of an energy drink or a snack and this place is convenient and always stocked. Cashier and some guy was lipped locked and hugging as we walked in about 7:45pm. Very shocked to see this. And even more shocked to realize that he was a worker at the store carring on in a personal manner. Then there was a pizza he took out of the oven then placed on back counter without recently wiping off the counter. Then used fingers and licked fingers several times then came to do cash transactions. Ukk. Then went back to working on pizza. Then licking fingers to check us out. A really large 7-11, high ceilings. Good amount of foot traffic, lots of downtown office workers coming and going but usually not a long line. About the only convenience type store I can think of on Congress Avenue within a 5 block radius. Every time I go to a 7-11 now, I consider purchasing the Slurpee branded summer merch (sunglasses, tanks, hats, etc.). Haven't pulled the trigger on that yet. read more

The guy working overnight on Mondays is a douche. I went in to use the restroom and he was quick to say no. I purchased some almonds that cost $1.40 and gave him a $20; I needed change. And he asks in his snarkiest tone if I have smaller bills. I was holding 6 $1 bills and two $20s. I tell him, in MY snarkiest tone, "Yeah...but I'm needing change." My wife and little girl went in this afternoon to get a 2 liter of coke and a whole pizza which only take 3 minutes in the oven and were told with a "bitch" attitude buy sum heavy set woman "i aint got time for that shit we dont sale our pizzas like that..." thats a lie we have gotten pizza plenty of times were regulars there its our neighborhood store. The other older woman totally sided with her coworker and her attitude said were doing shift change so we walked out and never plan on going back i hope they get fired and soon there customer service skills suck. The convenience is great!! I know it is a new store, but it is so very unorganized. Its seems like the employees weren't trained properly. They are always having register problems. There will be 20 to 30 people in the store and they will only have one register working. When I do finally get to the register, it seems like a broken record with them apologizing for the wait. I shop here several times a week and today walked in to load money on my amazon account and decided to buy dog food for the dog of a homeless guy outside when the staff informed me I had to leave my bag in the front. Which I'm perfectly fine and understanding about, So I headed to the front and handed him my bag, which then the other employee said no and to place my bag on the floor by the entrance. Which I absolutely refused to do. I said they won't be responsible for my laptop and bag and belongings if it gets stolen from the floor. He kept insisting and telling me "my man, if you don't like it you can leave." He could have simply held the bag safely behind the counter while I quickly grabbed dog food and food, added my amazon cash and left. I will now walk the extra blocks to CVS where they see the difference between a professional adult in his late 40's holding $200 cash and a bag with electronics and gym gear, in his hand to buy stuff versus a robber. I don't know what is more exciting, writing my first review on here, or rating my good ole 7/11 that is on the ground floor of where I work. I love how convenient this place is, hence the convenience store. The employees are are always upbeat, and fun to talk to while you're checking out. They take their time on each customer, (even the homeless when they're in there) and make sure we found everything we needed. A few months ago I mentioned that I was sad, because they were out of a particular cookie the i enjoy, as I mentioned that to the employee, she stated, " I bet when you come back next week (this was Thursday) we'll have them for you" Gave me a wink and i went on about my day. Next week, i happily trot downstairs to pick up my favorite cookie, but only to be let down again. Only thing is, as she saw me walk towards the cash register ready to check out, she asked if i found the cookies i love (clearly she remembered who i was) She let me know she just put them out this morning along with 4 different types of flavors!
