Stopped by for lunch today and wasn't to impressed. The restaurant itself is very clean and nice. Overall 10/10 for cleanliness and interior, but the dessert area did have a sewer smell. Service : you have to prepay before you eat and they charge you a service charge even for 2 people. Which we thought was strange. Total came out to be around $48 for 2 people which I don't think was worth it. Food : Sushi was decent buffet sushi nothing crazy. They didn't have a lot of options, very limited. It was my first time here, the pros, the staff were nice and cleared away our empty plates often. The restaurant has lots of seating and lots of options. The inside was very open and easy to access the food. The couple things I didn't like is that most of the food was cold and it wasn't refilled very often so I never got a chance to eat anything warm. I did get the sesame balls when they were refilled and those were good but they weren't as good cold. Also, the meat was not good to me, it was cold and I couldn't get my teeth through most of it so I had to give up. I attempted to taste a piece of almost every meat hoping I would be able to eat something but I was not successful. The meat I did try also didn't have any flavor on it. The Cajun sausages were good and soft enough to eat. A few of us had the seafood, again most of it was cold so we had to try to wait for it when it was refilled so we could have it warm. The warm seafood was good. The ambience of the restaurant was good, nice location. Weekends are all day dinner which is $25 plus taxes and the service fee so ends up costing about $31 per person. From the 101 highway northbound in Gilroy, we saw that there is a new all you can eat spot. We decided to check it out. We arrived to Gohan AYCE Buffet on a Sunday afternoon for late lunch recently. The buffet is located at the Gilroy outlets area across from Home Depot and Ashley's Furniture. Parking is easy and accessible in the parking lot out front. The restaurant looked clean and had sleek modern decor. There are plenty of booths for dine in and outdoor tables for dining outdoors. The atmosphere was warm, inviting, and family friendly. I was happy to see that this was a different, unique, and not your typical Asian buffet type of restaurant. There was a Mongolian bbq station, Pho station, Chinese and American food station, and a sushi station. Dessert, fruit, ice cream, and soda, water dispenser had their own station as well. I ended up grabbing a plate from the Mongolian bbq station, a bowl from the Pho station and a plate from the Chinese American food station. I knew I was not going to finish all my food but I wanted to try a little bit of everything. All the food I had was mostly delicious. The Mongolian bbq was grilled made to order from the variety of proteins, noodles, and veggies to choose from. My Mongolian bbq noodles were savory and the bbq meat was tasty. It was a nice touch that there was Korean galbi beef included as an option. The pho was also freshly made to order with a beef short rib, beef balls, and pork belly included. The broth was flavorful. The beef short rib was tender and juicy. All the usual Pho garnishes options were there as well. There was prime rib and bbq ribs available but I found both to be mediocre and dry. Standouts such as the fried rice and the orange chicken were fresh and scrumptious. Overall we enjoyed our experience at Gohan AYCE Buffet. The staff were friendly and accommodating. I felt bad though that the front counter cashier/host was by herself and so busy. She had to bus the tables and be the cashier for the incoming customers. It's too bad that management unfortunately put her in this overwhelming situation. Paying at first in the front counter is a nice touch. Also the 10% service charge was fair. The overall price point which included soda was more than fair as well. We hope to be back and bring other family as well. read more

Was hesitant to try this new buffet due to the mixed reviews but so glad we did! So if you're having the same thoughts, just go give them a try. It's clean, food was fresh, good selection for the size of the buffet & the service was great. You can't beat the price for dinner (or lunch). Great value & great option for group meals. I was impressed with their pho bar. I'm Vietnamese & was surprised it was flavorful. The bowl was big & came with a lot of meat, including a big beef bone. That alone would cost at least $20 at a pho restaurant. If you're just craving for pho, just come here & you get that plus all the other food options & drinks. My family & I enjoyed the pho bar, Mongolian BBQ station, the carving station (the sausage was good), the sushi bar, fruits & desserts (guava & chocolate cakes were my fav) & soda selections. I loved that they had Manzanita Sol soda. Plus, if you want to make a root beer float, you can take the vanilla ice cream & add it to the root beer soda. We decided to give this place a try since we happen to see that a new AYCE restaurant opened up at the Gilroy Outlets recently. Parking is plenty which is important. Upon entering the restaurant we were greeted with a friendly hostess. Paying up front was easy and for $60 for two people was a good deal especially since it included drinks and dessert. Since it was late lunch we were seated right away. The decor was modern grey and was very inviting. I also liked the ceiling lights. Contemporary. The music was entertaining and wasn't too loud. The entire restaurant was very clean. There is a Pho' bar which included various meats and seafood. Also a Mongolian BBQ bar which my husband tried both and was very impressed. The sushi bar was okay. I felt the rice was a little dry. And I was disappointed that they didn't offer salmon nigiri (my favorite) although they did have hamachi, shrimp and various rolls. The hot and sour soup was delicious. As was the other hot dishes that were offered. The dessert was premade ice cream. We took it to go to give to our son later. He enjoyed both Vanilla & Chocolate. We were kindly greeted and paid upfront; the pricing is very fair, about $60 for two, especially since it includes drinks and it's dinner. The Atmosphere: The staff seated us in a booth that felt surprisingly private and comfortable. I was really impressed by the upkeep. The staff are constantly on the move, keeping everything stocked and the tables clear. Even the bathrooms were some of the cleanest I've seen at an AYCE spot. Hot Foods: The orange chicken, salmon, etc, and fried selections were delicious. Everything was fresh, well-cooked, and hit the spot. Sushi & Mongolian Grill: There is a wide variety of flavorful sushi. I also tried the Mongolian station; the meats and veggies were cooked to perfection. Dessert: We arrived about 40 minutes before closing, so some items were running low (totally understandable). The chocolate cake and cream puffs were okay, but the single serve ice cream cups were a nice nostalgic touch! The ambiance was great right when we entered. However, awkward moment when your getting your food at the buffet. Employees seem to "watch" and "stare" while you're getting food which turned the ambiance to almost 180 awkward/weird/uneasy moment. The MONGOLIAN and PHO sections were the best! The BBQ and CHINESE sections are okay. The food in these sections seemed to be sitting out awhile and they were sort of hard and dry. Service was good. Employees were too aggressive taking plates from your table so you can go for more. They took away a plate that was not meant to be taken away. The plate I wanted to leave was for sauces and place utensils which is typical when I go into buffets and eat. But, they took it. It's aggressive as after we tell one employee not to take the plates yet, another one comes right after him and asks, which was irritating. Overall, I wouldn't come back here out of my way just to eat like some places I do frequent that are 15-30 minutes away from where I live. Well it was finally opened. I don't get to Gilroy much but I knew when I did get to Gilroy I would check this place out. The prices were fair. It wasn't so busy in the middle of the week for lunchtime. The food was good. Service was outstanding we never had dirty plates on the table. I would say this place is absolutely perfect except for the fact it was a little warm inside due to a little bit of an air-conditioning system problem. Other than that, I would go again and recommend anybody to check it out especially the Mongolian barbecue because that's how you get the most fresh food on your plate read more

Hey there Party People, Venturing out and about ran across Gotham AYCE Buffet. It's an all you can eat Chinese and PHO place. Inside it has a great sort of upbeat modern vibe....got club music playing but not so loud you can't talk to your party. Very clean and the staff is on top of taking away plates quickly. It had a good crowd for a Sunday. Be aware a 15% living tax is added to your bill and you pay before you sit down. The Chinese door is good, the noodles were a little gummy for us and the fried rice was a bit dry. The Bbq pork ribs were off the hook delicious. The pot stickers were on point not greasy. All the necessary sauces and condiments are available. But the real reason you come here is for the build your own stir fry and Pho soup. Kept seeing videos all over social media about this place so had to check it out. Got here around 1:30pm on a Thursday and it was pretty empty. First red flag. Did my normal tour of the buffet area to see what was available. Saw a worker shoo'ing a fly off a sushi roll. Second red flag. They have the buffet split into 6 sections... Mongolian - good amount of protein and vegetable options. Fried egg is a nice touch. 7/10 Pho - I was hoping to try the big beef bone soup but I guess that's a weekend option. The beef they had available looked like it was at the end of its life so I skipped this section all together. BBQ - available options were hotlinks, grilled chicken thighs, char siu pork chops, and galbi. Char siu pork chops were a hit with my kids but way too sweet for myself. Galbi was the star of this section. 6/10 Chinese - they had the traditional stuff you would see at a Chinese fast food place. One thing that did stand out was the ginger scallion steamed fish. Hot and sour soup looked like it was reheated from previous day because it was all dried out on the rim of the steam tray. And how do you serve Chinese food without white rice? 2/10 Sushi - looked decent but we skipped it because of the fly issue. 0/10 Dessert - typical fruit flavored buffet cakes and pre packaged sundae cups. My son tried the egg tart and immediately spit it out. He is not a picky eater at all so that says it all. 1/10 for the sundae cups. Holy cow!! I returned here recently and they've made things even better! First up: the Pho. Man, it's perfect. A bowl of that and a plate of BBQ and you're set. Second up: The hot line. They improved their methods and offerings here -considerably-! The chicken wings are seasoned now, and the sauce offerings are top-notch. Every tiny nitpick I had in my first reveiw has been improved. The value for the price is amazing, and I am in danger of becoming a regular! 10/10. Fantastic. I tried reaching out to management via a message before I posted this review. They're new, perhaps it was a one off? They read it and didn't bother to respond, so here goes. We came from Morgan Hill for lunch. It's a shame but the entire place smelled like sewage. It was overwhelming & unappealing. The shrimp and zucchini were nice, sushi rolls were ok (heavy on the rice, light on the fish). There was no prime rib, (like you advertise), no regular sushi other than rolls. That was disappointing. The chicken and beef was grisly in the Chinese food. The Mongolian beef and chicken was frozen solid so you couldn't get any out to make a plate. I can't tell you how disappointed we were. The soda machine had spilled brown soda everywhere, it saturated the rug, spilling out from under it. There were signs up so people didn't slip but no one mopped it up. With the restaurant smelling like sewage & the brown liquid everywhere, it was gross. Not sure we'd bother to come back. Very disappointing. We left the very nice front desk girl $5 as a tip, she was clearing plates etc. read more

Definitely not worth the $30/pp to eat dried out food that had been sitting in the food warmers for a very long time (see pictures showing dried out sauce and shriveled string beans). Some of the veges for the Mongolian stirfry were also not very fresh (see pics some brown broccoli and yellowed spinach). The potstickers were so dried-crisped at the edges, I thought I broke a tooth. So bad and so disappointing. (However, we did like the pho broth and hot and sour soup.) read more

One of the biggest pluses of Gohan AYCE was the variety of food. They have an assortment of cuisines like Japanese, Chinese, American BBQ, and Mongolian food. I enjoyed their plantains, chow mein, and pho the most. Aside from the food, the place is VERY clean. I can see floors being swept constantly and the buffet lines being wiped every so often. The workers were quick to get rid of any plates off our table. Rylee was very helpful as he was constantly checking in on us. If you're in the area, this a great new edition to Gilroy! read more

My family and I stopped by Gohan on our drive back home from LA and it hit the spot! A highlight was their prime rib and grilled vegetables (pineapple was very juicy)! The chefs will also cook your steak a bit more if you'd like. I'm not sure if the prime rib is only available on Sundays but I recommend it. They had these milk buns with condensed milk that I have not seen at other buffets. It was really good-- a warm donut with sweet milk!! Not much sushi variety or a large array of dishes compared to other Asian restaurants, but the options they did have were just enough. Not to mention, they have a pho and Mongolian bbq! I saw a girl with a bowl of pho that had a huge rib in it! Unlimited fountain soda drink station for 2.95! Buffet and bathroom were very clean. I would recommend that they add steamed Jasmine white rice as an option as the foods are pretty salty and could use some rice on the side LOL I also think a hand sanitizer and glove station would be good! Located in the former home of the last surviving (and now dearly departed) Fresh Choice, this space has officially gone from buffet purgatory to glow-up central. What was once an ugly duckling has been fully rebranded into a swan with better lighting. Gohan has a modern vibe, a spacious dining room, and even outdoor seating if you'd like your noodles with a side of fresh air. There's usually a bit of a line since you pay before you feast--lunch is $19.95 and dinner is $24.95 (keep that number in mind... we'll circle back). Front of house is friendly and does their best to keep the line moving without making you feel like you're boarding a budget airline. Food stations include: * Mongolian BBQ (your inner grill master moment) * Pho noodle bar * Standard Chinese buffet favorites * Salad station (for balance, obviously) * Dessert area featuring a freezer with three individual ice cream cups (vanilla, strawberry, chocolate--the holy trinity) Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Tried this place out the other day and was very disappointed. Pro: 1.Ok Service 2. Has Pho Station 3. Grill station 4. Lots of parking 5. Nice and clean inside Con: 1. Way too expensive for food selections being offered 2. No drinks included like their other location in Tracy 3. 14% mandatory service charge is unacceptable 4. No real seafood or sushi/sashimi during dinner time 5. Way too many cons Hopefully the owner reads this and changes this immediately bc price is way too high but nothing really to eat. Meh...don't do it. Paid about $100 for three people and honestly wish we'd gone anywhere else. They've only been open for a couple of weeks, but the food quality and safety issues are already a problem. Most of the food on the line was cold or barely lukewarm, nowhere near safe serving temps. The "hot" steam warmers weren't hot at all. Prime rib at the carving station was room temp with a sour taste, which is a huge red flag. The au jus was probably contributing to the saltiness, so I'm unsure if it was the prime rib that was salty. Did I mention it was pretty cold? Fried noodles were lukewarm, fried rice tasted old with hard pellets, and the stir fry shrimp, and general chicken were all sitting out lukewarm too. Cocktail shrimp was also room temp, not chilled like it should be. The build-your-own noodle station was the only thing served hot, but it tasted awful. My plate had a burnt, bitter flavor, with overcooked noodles that turned to mush. Food selection was anticlimactic. Dessert lacked and is depressing. Freezer was empty (one reviewer mentioned ice cream). Atmosphere was great and interior design doesn't quite fit the buffet language and for more of a Korean BBQ AYCE, without the demographics that come along with it. If you know Chinese food, this place is the opposite of what you'd expect. They even had an employee running an air-mover in the middle of the dining area to dry the floor while people were eating, blowing who-knows-what into the air. Completely unsanitary. For $24.95 a person, this is basically less than Panda Express quality at buffet prices. Definitely not worth it, and I wouldn't come back. Service charge is automatically applied to your visit, so beware. Final statement: This buffet feels like it was designed for people who think they're eating Chinese food but don't actually know what real Chinese cooking tastes like. It's clearly tailored toward a broader, non‑Asian demographic that's used to Americanized flavors and doesn't notice when dishes are lukewarm, overcooked, or missing authentic technique. Food items are tasty! I'll give them that. We went today on Father's Day, around 4:30pm. What really shocked me was the music they were playing! When I took my daughter to the bathroom you could really hear it! Lyrics included "Bi^€*hes" "H*es" "Fu#k"! I was with my 6 and 10 year old!!!! I guess this is not a family place!! The staff all look young, so they may not be sensitive to families and family environments. If I were a restaurant owner, I would not allow music like that. Recently visited this place and here is my Real honest review. I'll be comparing this to 2 buffets 1. Tomis buffet in San Jose and 2. The other buffet place on the other side of the freeway. Please be open minded when you come to this place, if you're already set to Tomis standard you will be disappointed but if you compare it to other buffet places u will kinda enjoy this spot. -price 2/5 = I'm not gonna blame yall for comparing it to Tomis bcoz of the price. But it's 30-45 mins away from here so if you have that time just go Tomis. And for the owner if you will stick with this price range you need to increase the food selection since Tomis have 2x almost 3x your food choices here. -ambiance and employee 5/5 = since it's new everything is nice looking and working properly. Music was good (they even have it in the restrooms) servers are super polite and greets with a smile. I must say this is the only thing that you beat Tomis over -food selection 3/5 = with the price I would actually rate it 2/5 but since they have different things which is actually good concept like the Mongolian and pho freshly made when you order I added another point. I'm pretty sure you can think of something else with those equipment to serve more food selection without breaking the bank or your inventory -food taste 2.5/5 I was kinda expecting it should be better taste since they have fewer selection but turn out it's subpar. Tomis still have better taste but better than the other buffet across the highway My conclusion it's either put the price down or add more selection of food.
