My hubby and I love Mongolian bbq, but we haven't been to this 1 in years-not AYCE, no soup and no egg rolls but wonton crisps and ice cream machine! What happened? Waitress was attentive and friendly! Explained that customers don't eat the soup so got rid of it! Restaurant seemed run down but food was good and veggies fresh! Advise to not get noodles since it fills up bowl quickly- there's rice! We got 2 small bowls that I used 1 for meats and other for everything else!

Just moved to the area, this is my favorite spot so far, friendly staff and delicious, fresh food for a good price.

    So good!

The level of your experience makes a world of a difference on which day of the week you choose to come to Gobi. My Nana and I dine here on an almost weekly basis. But we refuse to come any other days except Mondays and Fridays. More Fridays than Mondays. The chef working those days is our favorite. He cooks the food to perfection and handles it with so much care. He knows how to flawlessly cook your carefully constructed bowl of noodles, meats, veggies and sauces. He also adds just the right amount of water as to not take away from the flavors of the sauces you selected to season your bowl. The other chef literally uses almost 2 pitchers of water to cook the noodles, which waters down the flavor of your food. And often has an attitude. The chef working on Monday and Friday is perfection. The staff on Fridays is wonderful. Mondays... ehhh! The chef is perfection but the cashier is extremely rude and lazy on Mondays. He doesn't greet customers. He's always standing around doing nothing but staring at his phone. And when his head is not down looking at his phone, he just watches everyone like a hawk as they fill their bowls like everyone is doing something wrong. It's so uncomfortable... (I read a previous review stating the same experience. It was probably this guy.) Also last Monday I came, he turns off the open sign and starts denying people 20 minutes prior to closing. And rudely dimmed the lights while there were still 4 tables of diners. Last time I came on a Monday, the proteins, noodles, veggies and sauces were almost empty. All compartments were filled at about 20%. So I requested that he refill the beef, noodles and some veggies. He literally gave me a sigh, a dirty look and walked away without saying a word. He just refilled the beef. So I asked him to refill the noodles and veggies again. Once again, an attitude! Also, he does not clean the tables well... Fridays are my favorite time to come here because the staff is amazing. The food is fresher on these days. The chef is perfect. And Isaac is friendly, kind and a hard worker. He greets every customer that comes in with a warm welcome and a smile. He also makes sure that all the bins are filled with plenty of proteins, vegetables, noodles and sauces. Whenever i've made requests, he's always been very helpful. He provides the diners with a pleasant, extraordinary customer service and dining experience. He also makes sure all of the tables are clean. And he cleans it so carefully in a way not to disrupt the other diners eating. Thank you Monday and Friday Chef. And thank you, Isaac for always making our Friday dining an enjoyable experience. You are an asset to this establishment. We appreciate you...

This place has been my go-to for Mongolian BBQ for years, and it's still the best option around. They made some changes over time, like removing the all-you-can-eat option and increasing their prices, but let's be real...where haven't they? For the quality and portion sizes, I still think it's worth it. Plus, this is literally the only Mongolian BBQ spot in the Pleasanton, Dublin, San Ramon, Danville, and Livermore areas, so it's definitely a gem for no frills, but solid food and quick service. If you're craving Mongolian BBQ, this is the spot to hit!

I was craving Mongolian BBQ, and this was the closest one we could find! It definitely hit the spot. The pricing is not bad. For $15/person, my boyfriend and I were super full. I was hoping to have some leftovers but, we managed to finish everything. I think for a couple dollars more, the two bowl is definitely worth it (something like $12 vs $15). I do get anxiety filling those bowls up though - I want to get my money's worth but I also don't want all the food to topple over haha. Mongolian BBQ is always a challenging game of jenga for me - but I like to think it's part of the experience. They also had a small buffet bar on the side where you can get a couple of other food items like wonton chips. It's been a while so I forget what else they have, but it's cool they have that for dine in! All in all, my boyfriend and I both enjoyed it. I think both of us could've added more sauce to ours, specifically salty over sweet (we followed their suggestions), but we know for next time!

I haven't been to Gobi in years, back when it was truly a buffet. Nowadays you pay per bowl, where 2 bowls is the most bang for your buck if you're hungry. You fill up your bowls with meat, noodles, veggies, and sauces, then a guy cooks it in the big round flat top. There's white rice and some chips as appetizers, I believe those are all you can eat. I thought the food was ok, maybe next time I need to add more sauce. You definitely get a lot for 2 plates, but the place gets messy and isn't this most hygienic. Service is pretty much serve yourself with occasional help from the workers, but they don't really interact with you. Not sure if I would come again, I think it was a lot better in the past

Not enjoyable because the place is dirty; service is odd

I love Mongolian food, stir-fry's, buffets -- and this cuisine combines all. AWESOME. But...what's NOT AWESOME is Gobi's, unfortunately. * I found it dirty (floors, ceiling, and flies) * Rice, self-serve, was very dry * The fried wontons were done that morning (or the day before?), and weren't warm. * The food is decent, but I found the staff quiet, and frankly a bit odd Nope, won't be back.

Decided to go here with my sister for dinner after shopping by the Livermore outlet. We were trying to reach the happy hour and its ends at 4pm. We got there exactly at 4pm on the dot and the host wouldn't let us order from the happy hour. That's ok I understand that. We started to fill our bowls up and We wanted more garlic, but their garlic was running out so we asked to have garlic be refilled. The host said "more??". He just said it with an attitude. Overall the service here just felt hostile, like as if they didn't want us to be there. The place itself was very spacious. When we got there it was just my sister and I in the whole restaurant. It was clean and have no issue. The food itself was good but not great. You could really put a lot of ingredients if you are able to stack a lot in your bowl. What's good about this place is they have free rice and free chips! I was gonna give this place a 2 out of stars but the owner of the place was really nice and I do not want to give this once a 2 stars just because his employee made us feel unwelcome. So overall 3 out 5 stars.

So, I'm going to just get the complaint part of this review over and done with... they discontinued "all you can eat" and I think that was a bad decision. Half the fun of Mongolian is knowing you can totally gorge yourself... I don't usually go back for a second round, but I want the option. I want to be able to get something I may have missed on my first trip... for example the tofu tonight. Didn't even see it!! Second complaint, it's very breezy in there. It's just not very warm, and the door was open. Okay, got that out of the way. You still have a 1 or 2 bowl option and you need to fill them in one trip. You can stuff them silly and pile on the items.... It's more than enough food!!!! Oh goodness it is delicious too. The service is very friendly, the man working tonight helped my daughter create her sauce and she said it was the best. There is a huge array of meats and veggies, and it is all fresh. The restaurant is clean and I didn't have any issues with soda fountain or the ice cream machine. I will be looking for another "all you can eat" location, but I will also definitely keep coming back to Gobi.

When we walked in, no staff was out front, so we stood around a bit before we were seated. The staff quickly disappeared again, and throughout our meal, they were usually disappeared somewhere in the back. If you want something quick like extra utensils or napkins, you may need to wait a bit before someone appears. When ordering, we wanted to try both the Beef Buzz ($14.99) and the Fried Beef Buzz ($15.99). The lady who took our order said they were the same thing, and offered to just give us one half/half order instead of ordering two of essentially the same dish. We agreed to that offer, but she didn't mention anything about how that'll be charged. Of course, we ended up being charged the higher price of $15.99. Not a huge deal, but some better communication there would've been appreciated. We also ordered the Beef Huushuur ($14.99). The Beef Huuchuur arrived first, and it didn't look anything like we expected. The photos from online reviews all looked it'd come in an empanada shape, but it actually came in a large, flat, circular shape. They were all laying against one another in a slanted position, and it made all the oil pool in the bottom of the dish, and the pieces that were covered became very oily and soggy underneath. The parts of the dough that weren't soggy were wonderfully crispy and delicious though. It'd make a significantly better difference if the Huuchuur were placed spread out from each other instead of lying on top of each other to maintain the crispiness on all surfaces. The beef filling was nicely seasoned and well flavored. The Beef Buzz had essentially the same filling as the Huuchuur, but different exterior. Unfortunately, I still have the same opinions of it being way too oily overall. The non-fried pieces sometimes broke apart at the bottom due to the sogginess. The fried version did not have a crispy texture at the bottom either, I'm guessing due to the excess amount of oil on the dish. Again, the flavors were great, but execution and presentation definitely has room for improvement. In summary, this was a great introduction to Mongolian dumplings for me. Very delicious flavors, and I'd love to try Huuchuurs again in the future because I love crispy fried foods with a good texture. However, I'd probably look for a place that goes way more easy on the oil.

I did enjoy the other dumplings though.
