First of all, I never write reviews on restaurants, I'm not that picky, and I don't havehowever my experience at this restaurant warrants a review. My husband hadn't been to this restaurant in several years. When we walked in, we thought it looked old. We were so hungry, that we didn't realize how unclean the place was. As we sat at our table, we noted the huge Covid stickers on the floor for 6' separation. The bowls were very clean, but the table felt like plastic that gets the permanent grime. This is why I'm writing... I had to use the restroom, and on my way down the hall in the back, I was disgusted by how filthy it was. The paint was chipped, there was crud in the wall, dusty dirty things falling of the shelf. So I went into the bathroom, and there was a toilet paper roll in the middle of the floor, the walls had black grime. The toilet cleaner was cracked and filthy. I have used many gas station bathrooms that were more clean than this. Unhealthy! After my eyes were opened by that disturbing bathroom experience, I took a closer look at the food area... food all round the floor with 4 people standing around. We will never eat here again. Came here for lunch with my Nana. Food: 1/5 Lunch included egg flower soup, steamed white rice, and pork potsticker. The noodles were soggy, meats & veggies were fresh. The sauces were lacking in flavor. Even though I put 2-3 spoonfuls of each sauce, the end result was flavorless. There was no chili oil. Most of their sauces were sweet based and watery in flavor. The Sriracha sauce on the table seemed watered down. It didn't have the same consistency of Sriracha. Even after adding Sriracha, the noodles, meats and veggies were still flavorless. Thumbs down! Way down... Service: 1/5 The service was a big fine mess! The line was long and there was only 1 cook. He is literally the slowest cook i've ever had the displeasure of witnessing in all of my Mongolian BBQ experiences. He took 4-5 minutes to cook each bowl. It felt like I was watching a nightmare in slow motion...From preparing our bowls to getting it cooked, it took 20 minutes. They put out appetizers on our table immediately. By the time we got to eat at our table, the soup , rice and potstickers were cold. I asked for water and tea. My water & tea arrived 10 min after I ordered. All of the workers seemed very disoriented. I do commend the only asian worker in the restaurant. He always made sure the meats, vegetables and sauces were well stocked and fresh. He was the only one that seemed to be doing his job proficiently... I would not go back to GK Mongolian. I was very disappointed in the food and service. Ambiance: 2/5 Restaurant was spacious. I was visiting Costco near by. I thought I will check this restaurant out since I have never had Magnolian food before. As soon as I walked in I was greeted by a nice smiley face. She guided me to the process of getting my food ready for takeout. While I was filling up my bowl, the manager or owner came to me to further assist and loaded my dish all the way till almost was falling down. Then he showed me how to add the sauce then gave it to the cook who was cooking it in front of me. It was a great experience and the food was absolutely delicious . I came here and was really wanting to like it but the moment I stepped in, I was utterly horrified. Extremely dirty. There was a couple who walked in after me, and server setup their table, and dropped one of their spoons on the floor and instead of replacing it, he put it on the table! The meat did not look good at all nor did the tin containers they put their sauces in. I immediately did a B line to the door. Please explain how this place is even up to code. read more

It is nice to have a Mongolian spot locally! We have been here a few times now and I really enjoyed the freshness of the food. I really like how they give you complimentary sides (rice, soup, potstickers, and wontons). I would suggest coming for the all you can eat dinner. I feel like $16 is totally worth it so come with an empty stomach. The service is very friendly. I know I can always count on some delicious food when we come here. I think this can be great food spot if they start making it more like stir-fry and they add sauce directly on the sizzler clay pan. Every now and then I get a real big craving for Mongolian bbq but I usually get it at the mall...I suggest you do too. I decided to try out this chain restaurant because it's usually busy, but I think that just because it's all you can eat after 3 I believe. I got a bowl to go with just about a little bit of everything (beef, tofu, shrimp, etc.) and potstickers to go and man was I disappointed. The potstickers were super dry and bland, filling literally tasted like nothing and the outside was as hard as a fortune cookie and it wasn't because I got it to go. I tried it in my car while it was still hot. The Mongolian bbq itself was whatever, nothing special. I just thought it would be better than the one at the mall since it's a chain restaurant but the one in the malls are way better, a lot more flavor. All in all I give this establishment a 2/5. It was not busy at all so I thought I lucked out but I guess not. At least there was no wait, would've been even more of a bummer. read more

A must try if you're in or stopping by Tracy!!! Every time I come to town I 9/10 times stop here for lunch and trust me, you'll be set for the rest of the day! They've definitely gotten a lot more stricter with their rules - no takeout on seconds, and no extra bowls to smash down the food to make it all fit. Prices have definitely gone up as well, dinner I know is way more expensive. I came around 2:30PM on Sunday and for 1 bowl (took some to go) and 1 fountain drink, I paid almost $20!! I'd give it 3 stars because I find that ridiculously expensive for a small town but I will say, it's worth it since you get to do the all you can eat (just make sure to come with an empty stomach and ready to EAT). When I go to buffet's I don't expect stellar quality but this place is actually pretty good and the value can't be beat. $16.25 per person for dinner and you can load up as many times as you want with whatever you want. For those who have never been, they have the following meat options: chicken, beef, turkey, pork. Then for veggies that have a pretty good assortment. Baby corn, onions, bell peppers, tofu, jalapeños, peanuts, spinach, bean sprouts, lettuce, broccoli, etc. then you get to add the cooking oils that you want! Only thing I would say is watch out if you have certain allergens because they cook all the food on the same grill so please be weary. Our waiter was nice and got us a refill on water without having to ask for it. It was actually kinda of quiet which was nice but it was a weekday so I'm assuming it gets loud on the weekends. My first time here and have been back within a month. Very delicious and fresh food! I like that you make your own customized creation and there are so many options to choose from. The soup they serve with your meal is absolutely delicious too. I did not eat the egg rolls but my man did and he likes them. They have the option to purchase beer with your meal which was nice they had a decent selection. The place was clean and the service was excellent. One thing I found interesting was that you could tip the cook at the station where you watch him to cooking your food. Then when you pay for your meal there is another place to tip the server. I think having just one tip jar and having the cook and server split the tip would be a great option. Obviously, this is just my opinion but for a almost fast food type of restaurant having two separate topping options seems a bit much. read more

I've been to a few of their locations but was pleasantly surprised and enjoyed their polite and friendly staff, who are very attentive, offering great service, and the restaurant was very clean. They offer a good selection of proteins, vegetables, and a variety of sauces. After I selected the meats and vegetables and seasoned, I took it to the grill to cook; however, the young man at the grill failed to clean the grill top and as a result my bowl of BBQ had burned pieces of char from the previous customers selections that had been prepared. We passed by this place and decided to give it a try. We were a little confused going in but you have to scan the menu. We decided to get 3 lunch specials. It was $14 for each. You get a brown and there are uncooked ingredients. You can get as much as fits on the plate. Some people's food went up very high. You get to pick the sauces you want. Then they cook it right in front of you. Everyone who worked there was super nice and helpful. There were a few tables. We went to pay for our lunch special. We got a little side of rice, pot stickers, a soda and our lunch. They also add a generous amount of packets of hot sauce and soy sauce. This fed 2 adults,a teenager, and a child. I still had lunch left overs for the next day. Fresh food that taste good at a great price. You can't beat it will definitely be returning. read more

Usually this place is pretty good.. I'm Vegan but when I have a craving for Mongolian I have to get it - ignoring the fact meat gets cooked on the same grill. Today I got some take out & ended up getting some fried wontons as a side. I started eating my bowl/box when I got into the car - the bag filled with wontons, soy sauce & utensils was folded shut right after I got my chop sticks... as I got home I eventually finished my noodles & was ready to eat my wontons. As I take out the bag of wontons I noticed there was another bag - it was one potsticker.. as I reach in I notice a spider in the potsticker bag!!!! Honestly it doesn't take very long for fried wontons to be made.... the sides should be made fresh; when you walk in they need to ask you if you would like any sides rather than have them pre-made stuffed into a box. I never thought about how long it sits there. I figure it gets made everyday but I could be wrong if there's insects coming out of the bags!!! When my husband called and told them what happened all they said was "oh I'm sorry, when you come in next time we will give you an extra bag of wontons"..... LOL THAT'S IT? FOOD ALWAYS HITS. The service can be a hit or miss but I love this place. Ambiance is chill, when slow but can very quickly get chaotic and messy around the food bar when business is booming, it gets a little hot in there and around the grill it gets a lotta hot...tip your grill chef, especially in the summer. This restaurant used to be one of my favorite real food reasonably priced place to go to once a week minimum. Management has changed the last year. Now the quality has sunken and badly managed. The manager popped in and left. The cook over cooks the food even if I told him to stop cooking. He left the meat in chunks waiting for it to cook. By the time the clumps of meat cooks through, they become dry, hard, chewy, and the vegetables becomes soggy and overcooked. He did not properly spread the meat because he was busy cooking another order on the same cooking surface. No manager was there keeping up the quality. This went on the last three times I was there. The manager hired less people instead, causing the dining area to be messy with dirty tables and floor because the poor waitress was too busy to do it all. It's too bad. We wanted to try something new and went to GK and we were pleasantly surprised. We had dinner which was all you can eat for $16 for adults. It included Mongolian BBQ, egg drop soup, a cup of steamed rice, fried wontons and we each got a pot sticker. Food was delicious. The staff are very friendly and attentive by always picking up dirty dishes, refilling soy sauce without asking them to, and refilling drinks regularly. They keep the place clean too! Many times I saw staff cleaning up spilled food at the food bar and they even offered required disposable gloves to wear so that food wasn't being contaminated. I was so surprised to see that my last review here was over 7 years ago. The food is consistent! I packed my bowl with veggies and a little bit of the Turkey and beef. It's cooked fresh in front of you as always. I loved that you need to wear gloves provided to serve up your bowls. So smart and why don't other buffet style places insist on this! Used to be a good place. Today, it was a complete mess. Tables unbussed, the prep line was a complete disaster area with spilled food. Prep line also poorly stocked. Customers were left waiting in line to sit, to pay, and even to pick up. One guy stood around for at least 20 minutes, he asked where his food was and was told it hadn't been made because they were too busy to make it. Little if any respect for their patrons. They could have used an extra person at the very least, maybe two. The ones there were overworked and confused. As I paid my bill for 2, I was told, 2 lunches, 2 drinks and was given an amount. I reminded her there was only 1 drink and somehow the price for 2 lunches and 1 drink became more than the first amount she gave me. It will probably be some time before I return there.
