The service and the amount of seafood offered! We went on Memorial weekend for lunch and they had advertised all you can eat for $25 per person. (We have eaten a few times at dinner but I was curious as to how different would the lunch be but it didn't appear any different, but then it could have been the Memorial Day special is the same as dinner offerings). I used to be able to eat a ton at buffets but I'm much older now and usually one full plate is enough. I tried a little of each of my favorite foods, ribs, dim sum, fried shrimp, walnut shrimp, bok Choy, green beans, salmon, egg rolls, Mongolian beef, stuffed shrimp, sushi and dessert watermelon and a creamy strawberry dessert! Wow, it was all very good, I would have liked to go for seconds to try more different foods but I was full. Gohan is a really great deal considering that Vegas buffets cost you $80 plus for a feast like this. If you love Asian food and especially seafood, this is the place to try! I was first interested in this restaurant cause I saw on social media it was only $25 and had a huge variety of food like snow crab legs and prime rib. They have 2 locations one in Tracy and one I Gilroy. I went to the Tracy location and was disappointed going in. I was most excited for the snow crab legs but they didn't have any even considering it was a first night. Majority of the seafood was seasoned salt and pepper style which got too salty after the 2nd round. Majority of the food looked like it was sitting there for hours. I'm spending the night in Tracy, so I decided to come back and try their dinner menu. I was not disappointed. As the last time, , the place was clean, and the people were very friendly. The dinner menu had most of the amazing things from the lunch menu, but they also had some very good other items. Some of the items on the menu were, peel and eat, shrimp, salt, and pepper, shrimp, "13 spiced crawfish", (no thank you, I'm not *THAT*brave...) frog legs, (people say they taste like chicken... They have the texture of chicken, but to me, the taste was more of a cross between chicken and fish). They also had fried crab, real crab in the shell. How can you not like the taste of real crab? As before, the sushi was very good, and on the dinner menu they have my favorite Chinese buffet item, coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp here is amazing. The shrimp are lightly breaded, and the coconut sauce is sweet, but not overly so. Another shrimp, item they had, was shrimp, stuffed chicken. A piece of chicken, with a shrimp in the middle of it. The chicken was tender and flavorful, and the shrimp and the chicken played very well together. They also had four different kinds of soups, I tried the egg drop soup and the miso soup. The egg drop soup was rich and flavorful, as was the miso soup. I've had very salty miso soup before, but it depends on the type of miso they use. This was not very salty at all. There was only one thing I didn't really care for, and that was the peanut butter, lo mein. To me, it was OK, but it just tasted like plain lo mein. I couldn't taste the peanut butter. That was the only thing I didn't care for, not worth taking off a star. I tried several desserts, they had like a strawberry pudding that was good, I had the bananas in. I believe it was strawberry sauce, also very good. They had a full chocolate cake, and it was rich, moist, and very chocolatey. Finally, I had the banana pudding again, and that was just as good as the last time. The price for dinner is very reasonable. They do charge an automatic gratuity now, anywhere from 8 to 15%, depending on the number of people in your group. Even with the automatic gratuity, with food, drink, tax, and gratuity, I was only out the door $27 and change. I was in town visiting family, some of who had been here a couple weeks before and decided we should all go. We went around 7:30pm on a Saturday Night with 12 people. It was $25.99/person. They also have children prices based on age. I thought there may be a wait but the place is pretty big and there was no wait at all. It was busy but not overcrowded. Living in Las Vegas and visiting many different buffets, I was impressed by this one. There is lots, and I mean lots of seafood. They have sushi, crab legs, shrimp, crawfish, clams, fish, oysters, etc. They have seafood chilled and also fried. If seafood isn't your thing they have lots of other choices such as fried chicken or wings, chow mein, bbq spare ribs, dumplings, spring rolls, fried rice, fries, veggies, etc. Also several chicken, beef and pork stir fry dishes (think orange chicken, broccoli beef). The Hibachi Grill is great. You pick out your protein, veggies, noodles, rice etc and they cook it for you. They have desserts and self serve drinks included. We all enjoyed our dinner. The place is clean and they have enough employees to keep the food trays full and things organized. They bus tables quickly and everyone is nice. The last time my family came, they saw the robot in action. The robot wasn't moving around today but we were seated right next to where it is and it would "talk" every now and then. We paid for a full price dinner thinking they would have their so called premium buffet. They did not have the steamed crab legs and they stated they ran out of stock. They also would not refill the fried crab legs and the oven baked cheese mussels. It was like a lunch buffet not dinner. I noticed there were few customers and realized they were trying to save money by not serving the more expensive seafood entrees. Most of the food too seemed like they've been out for a while as it was drying up and getting hard. Gohan would lose customers by doing these tricks. Well we decided to go to the movies and it's right next door so decided to give it another chance. Affordable ayce with quality that reflects the price. We'd heard about Gohan and its cute robot a while ago but finally got the chance to go one Saturday for lunch. (And the robot was out of service) We anticipated perhaps a line but the restaurant is pretty big and while there were some patrons when we arrived around 12p it was by no means too busy. Of course the sushi was the star of what we came for, so after paying first and being shown our table we went there first. There's a decent selection of rolls, most of which include some combo of imitation crab, avocado, tuna, shrimp (raw or tempura), and avocado. We found the sushi to be fairly good, with not too much rice. The fish wasn't old but also not the freshest and we were amused by how thin the slices offered on top of the rolls were, as if to skimp. The sashimi was also alright but slightly fishy so it was a pass. Interestingly they did have a fried roll that we enjoyed when it was crispy and recently plated, as well as a kimbap option! Aside from sushi, the other offerings include many fried things (fish, calamari, banana, fries, etc), panda-esque Chinese food (orange chicken, chow mein, hot and sour soup, black pepper beef, etc), lots of seafood (crab legs, crawfish, stuffed scallops, etc) and some random stuff (italian sauce salmon, bananas with red strawberry sauce on top, macaroni salad). Many items seemed to basically be warmed up foods that were previously bought frozen or from a box. The dessert bar and salad bar have definitely seen better days, and while the made to order habachi grill is interesting the food is cooked with too much sauce and oil to be enjoyable. Our favorite items ended up being random nostalgic things like Hi-C fruit punch (drink included in price), broccoli chicken, and nilla wafer banana pudding. Everything else was interesting and not bad. The restaurant itself could use better lighting and a bit of decor, as well as more bathroom cleaning. However there are plenty of staff and they're not unfriendly. Parking is easy in the mall parking lot. First time here but not new to buffets. You pay first then the host brings you to a table. The seating area is decently spaced out between the buffet and drink area so you don't feel people hovering over you getting their food. It was 10 minutes after opening and the sushi wasn't ready yet so I started on the hot food first. There are some items that other buffets I have gone to don't have. They have bbq spare ribs and fried scallops. The ribs were sweet and little tender, I liked it. Fried scallops are imitation, had a slight scallop flavor. If you like imitation crabmeat you'll like this. It's different, I'm not mad at it but wouldn't get again now that I've had it unless it is real scallop served dinner time. There are hardly any traditional Chinese dishes. They cater more to the American pallette and kids have some options. I'll eat it but prefer to have some mixed into the menu. They don't have salt and pepper shrimp with the head and shell on but they do have fish. Hibachi Buffet and Grill in Fairfield has it too. I recommend that buffet. They have two dim sum option, shrimp har gow (dumpling) and potsticker/gyoza. I don't know if those are the only two available daily or it changes day to day. I would come back to find out for myself. The sushi selection isn't huge but it is satisfactory. The pieces are bite sized which is good so you can try everything and still save room for other items. The dessert/fruit/salad selection is cool. I have never seen whole cakes, two of them at that. I didn't have a sweet tooth so I didn't try it. And they have ice cream cups. I never go for the hibachi anywhere, if it is your thing, they have it. My takeaway of this place is, if you love Chinese buffets and are in the area, give them a shot. $16.99 for lunch including drinks is a deal in this economy. It is clean, staff are attentive and it is next to a mall and Winco across the street, you can walk off the meal and do some shopping. The price is pretty decent at $25.99 compared to Tomi Sushi dinner price of $41.99 on weekends. Love the hibachi grill but wish the beef is sliced much thinner. Make sure to add fried egg! All the food trays were neatly presented and I thought overall, for the price they had a descent amount of variety of food and wow lots of seafood! The crabs were skinny and small, but hey they are still crabs! The oysters tasted fresh, the class, shrimp, sashimi were not fishy! Most importantly the taste of the cooked food was pretty good, well seasoned, not too salty (unlike most chinese buffet), and was not dosed with tons of msg! Went to Tracy, CA to visit some friends and they told me about this new buffet in town, so we decided to check it out during lunch. It's located in a repurposed Home Town Buffet in a Shopping Mall. Easy access as the entrance to the restaurant is outside the mall, facing the parking lot. Convenient. The food was good by Chinese buffet standards and they serve the usual items you'd find at any other one. Sushi Bar, Fried Chicken, Steamed Fish, Seafood Dishes, Noodle Dishes and Stirfry Dishes. The quality was amazing, as you would expect at any new buffet restaurant just starting out, trying to make an impression on the public. Everything was on point, especially the cold asian spiced crawfish. Those were my favorite. They also have a Hibachi Grill, but I didn't get anything from there that day. Service was okay. They are quick to remove dirty plates from the table. They have Drink Stations, as well as Utensil Station, so what kind of service could they offer at a buffet??? Give them a try. We've been to Gohan a couple of dozen times over the years but I think they have lost my business, my family's business, and my extended family and friends' business because of PRINCIPAL!!! Took the extended family there last Sunday for a birthday and when we went inside, the lady says " Even though your birthday is today, it's not part of the birthday promotion because you can't use it on a Sunday, ONLY Mon- Sat. You'll have to use it the tomorrow through next Saturday." That's a weird thing where you can't use it on the day of your birthday if it lands on a Sunday but oh well. So I bring less people to eat there yesterday, Saturday the 10th because the other lady said it will still qualify for the birthday promotion from my encounter with them on the previous Sunday the 4th. NOW THEY SAY THE BIRTHDAY PROMOTION DOESN'T WORK EITHER!!! THE SHORT hair Chinese lady says you can't use it this week, your birthday week expired. The other lady said to come back this week if I wanted to use it BUT NOW ITS A DIFFERENT STORY. SMH. So basically she is saying" If your birthday lands on a SUNDAY,you would have to use it a WEEK BEFORE YOUR ACTUAL BIRTHDAY?" Just FYI, this is about PRINCIPLE, not a free meal. We usually tip pretty good already compared to what we see from other guest ( usually tip like 20% cash or so while others only tip a few dollars on a buffet to them), but if a birthday promotion was used, we tip even more so the lost money goes to their workers/bussers. I would say at least 50% of the food is fried and yes, I did indulge a little but seeing the same gold color all over my plate was not that appetizing. I wish they would offer a stir fry of veggies, sauteed bok choy, something fresh. The only veggies seemed to be the salad bar. My husband and I had just sat down and saw I had a chicken wing on my plate and said if I liked it, to wait before grabbing more because he saw a kid after me, grab a chicken wing with his bare hands and then his mom told him something like, "you're not going to finish that" and so the kid put it back, WITH HIS BARE HANDS. C'mon momma, that's nasty!!! 1. don't grab food with bare hands. use the tongs 2. don't put food back that you've already claimed. I feel bad for the next customer who grabbed that pre-loved chicken wing. The hibachi thing was okay. I was confused on how it worked so I was weirdly standing there for the cook to hand me a cooked plate. So you need to serve yourself the raw items you want, give them the raw plate, then they cook it. The cooks didn't ask us any questions like if we wanted spicy or sauces we wanted. They did whatever, the flavor could've been stronger but wasn't too bad. For $25+ for an adult dinner, I wasn't going to eat a large plate of noodles. The seafood boil was more heavy on the potatoes and crawfish than the shrimp. I love shrimp but this just wasn't it. I could maybe fish a few shrimp pieces but it was limited. I saw crab but the pieces looked small and the legs very skinny and too much work for the little meat I'd get. So I did not get the crab but then I saw a seasoned crab and tried that. yup, too much work for small crab. Beverages: their sodas and teas are full of sugar. There was only 1 unsweetened tea option with 3 sweetened tea options. I wish they would offer more unsweetened options. The dessert selection was incredibly limited, I could count the items on one hand and they had no labels. The fried banana was over by the fried calamari instead of near the dessert section. I grabbed one of the little vanilla ice cream cups and added the fried banana to it. It was decent. The staff was very busy clearing plates from other tables but seemed to miss our table quite a few times. Again, I heard dinner was better than lunch. Overall, this place was $56.27 (w/tax) for 2 adult dinners. I think it was overpriced for the quality and variety of food they offered - at least half was just fried foods. If dinner is the better option than lunch, then I don't have an interest in seeing what their lunch offerings are like. Good to try once if you're interested. read more

There's a measurement of height on the side. They have Eat Free on your Birthday Week (yes, bday week and not on the exact bday as what buffet mostly have) Provided there's two paying adults. The kid with just had his bday yesterday but since I don't have any form of ID to present for the kid, maybe next time. Seated and the place has good amount of seating for a buffet place. The food selection was good, I would say but missing most of what I am looking for. No shrimp as what buffet has, only boiling style mix shrimp with musses, crawfish. I find most of the food salty and just average. There's a chowmein station where Amigo can cook it for you. Tips appreciated! There's fruit station, salad, fried, common chinese food, tilapia, desserts, sushi (not much selection on sushi, only like 6), soups, ice cream in a cup. The drinks are included. There's a fountain drink station, coffee if you wish. For the price for lunch, it could be okay but I have seen other buffet which has more seafood and meat in the venue. I did not get a chance to see the restroom. The workers are great when getting used plates that are done. They know when to take it away. There's also a robot roaming around that has fortune cookies/disposable chopsticks, etc which is good to see. I would say, it's an average buffet but I've seen better for the same price. While the selection of food wasn't extensive, the crawfish was absolutely delicious and worth the price. So far so good! Today is opening day so I decided to stop by and check it out. The parking was easy and only had one person in front of me to pay (ahead of eating). Prices were decent (under $20 for lunch with a drink included) and the variety was good. There was plenty of tables and booths and it was very clean & bright. The staff was friendly and helpful. Food wasn't bad for lunch, I'll have to bring my family back for dinner sometime since I hear it's a little different (food offerings). Updated since the restrooms were flooded with toilet water and no signs that they were out of order! I let them know and they seemed to be aware already. When this restaurant first opened, it was super clean. We would visit the restaurant at least once a week. Employees were always wiping down tables, chairs and condiment bottles which is very rare to see at restaurants. I was very happy to see that. The buffet trays were always fully stocked, and the restrooms were well maintained. Unfortunately, the experience has completely changed. Cleanliness and upkeep have noticeably declined. I like this place, food Quality real good, please keep it up the fresh quality like this. Restroom very clean , that make me feel the restaurant clean or not. This buffet I feel totally different than anywhere else. Definitely will come back read more

My son turned six this week, and when asked where he wanted to go for dinner, he said Gohan (because he's a big fan of the robots). I'm not a huge fan of the place, but my mom took us all out for a movie and dinner. When we got there, we told them it was his birthday three days ago, and they said happy birthday and then asked for proof. I said, 'No, what do you need?' and the lady said we needed to see a copy of his birth certificate or passport. I'm sorry, but I don't carry around birth certificates or passports. I completely understand that people lie about their birthdays for a free meal, but this is a six-year-old kid who will only eat two slices of pizza. So, for anyone who wants to celebrate a birthday at Gohan, make sure you bring your proof. We definitely won't be back. read more

We were hungry and we new where to come! 25.99 for all you can eat of so many choices! The baked oysters are huge, and really tasty. Crab legs, shrimp, sushi and even sashimi, many different Chinese foods, salad bar. Mongolian style grill. Beverages included. The desserts really are what they need to work on still!! So not great. The best was tiramisu, but still meh. They do have ice cream cups. We will be back! read more
