Went in with some friends and the owner or supervisor just looked at us and walked to the back. Great way to greet customers. A young man came and helped us and he was nice. You order at the counter, and they bring your food (poke) in containers. I ordered a California roll, and it was good. They have packets of wasabi which is never enough! Both of my friends had Poke bowls, and they said that they were good. One had shrimp and the other had salmon, tuna and Hamachi. Bathroom was clean as was the dining area. They give seniors and first responders a 10% discount which I thought was cool. read more

It took a long time to get our food we ordered @710 and got our order @ 750 it was sat and they seem to have a lot of pick up orders .We had the dragon roll and the Philly roll they were ok ...... staff is friendly. They are missing an opportunity. Seems like they want you to pay before you get your food. I never tip upfront missing an opportunity for the waiters and waitresses get tips. Every time I'm headed this direction I always have to stop here. And if I get lucky, my favorite chef Steven would be there. I asked him to whipped something up for me and it ended up being super gooood! Don't get me wrong their rice bowls and rolls are all good but this definitely feels more special this time. Really happy we found this place! We live in Merced and drove here just for the sushi and we'd do it again! We created our own poke bowl and ordered two rolls on the side. Everything was fresh and the fish seemed to be really high quality! Will definitely be returning. read more

Ordered one roll for takeout. Went to pick up the item. One girl working. I walked in and she looked at me and walked to the back room. I waited. She came back and said sushi or bowl I said takeout. So the whole experience started out poorly. Received my roll and left. When I got home, I discovered that there was no ginger or wasabi with my $20 roll. They clearly states that it comes with these items. The roll is small. I won't return there's other places in town to go. With a rude employee and with missing ingredients just not worth it. read more

This brand new poke place just opened up in my area so I was very excited to take my parents for lunch. I will say it feels like they are still in the process of settling in because the walls aren't fully decorated or painted yet but the bathroom was nice and clean You order at the counter, I love that I can write down and build my own poke myself. It's easier that way and I see all the options. They are have a cool selection of drinks. Where it loses a star to me is pricing though. It's very expensive compared to similar restaurants in the area. There are a ton of people working so the food comes out fast. But there isn't much service. You just grab a table and wait. I liked my bowl, I think the ingredients were fresh and good quantity. Honestly too much to eat in one sitting but not enough for two meals. If it was a little cheaper I'd come back more often! read more

Finally went to try this place. It's so close, I can walk over. My 2 kiddos and I built poke bowls and tried the smokey salmon roll. So fresh and delicious! Big on price, small portions. This little spot has got decent poke and looks to be a local favorite. They are readily expanding to another space beside them and not without good cause. The food was good, flavors were good. However, they lacked a few ingredients in my opinion for the Poké bar. They did not have pineapple, which I thought was kind of interesting seeing as how they had a Hawaiian style bowl. They also did not seem to have tobiko for the Poké bowls, nor did they come with a side of wasabi ginger, or option to add. The biggest disappointment that I had was the portion size. Their portions range from regular, medium, or large with three, four, or five scoops of fish, respectively. I felt that the amount of base, in my case, sushi rice, was pretty skimpy along with the vegetables that went in my bowl. Comparing this to similar establishments, the size was overall just very small in general. What was not small here was the price. I paid just under $23 for a regular size bowl, not a medium or a large, just regular the bowl was pretty shallow and not very full. A regular size bowl at a comparable establishment would have some weight to it, this did not. Based on the flavors I would return, but not really until either the price has gone down or the balls are made a little more hardy. I don't want to be scraping the last grain of rice out of my bowl and contemplating whether I should order a suit me to go though already spending 23 bucks on the bowl that didn't quite do it. read more

I got a size medium and you get to either build your own or order one from the menu, for a size medium you can pick up to 4 different poke, I chose (2scoops) spicy salmon, Hawaiian ahi tuna, and seared albacore tuna. My boyfriend and I had this delivered through DoorDash and it was honestly some of the best sushi I have ever had. We had the Turlock roll, Central Valley, and the rice corner. They were all amazing but the Central Valley roll with Serranos added was my favorite. Also, this was the BEST delivery we have had ever. They packed all rolls and extra sauces separately without us asking and the bag was sealed, it seems like they used a nifty tool to seal the outside bag or something. We both loved that because you know your food is extra safe and not easy to tamper with. All around I can't recommend this place enough and I'm looking forward to having it again! read more

Another friend tried the coconut shrimp curry and said it was delicious, with a rich and slightly sweet coconut sauce that paired well with the shrimp. Overall, we were very happy with the food and the experience. The restaurant felt clean and well-maintained, and the staff made sure our meal went smoothly. The restaurant is nestled in the cute downtown area of Hughson, their main street. Upon walking in, we were greeted by the staff and seated right away. We were there on a Thursday evening about an hour before closing, but the restaurant was packed with customers. The menu has an extensive selection of Chinese and Japanese dishes. I had the Bruce Li roll which had tempura shrimp topped with crab meat, salmon, tuna, spicy mayo and unagi sauce. I also 2 pieces of the Hamachi (yellowtail), miso soup, and spicy edamame. The fish was some of the freshest I've ever had - flavorful, definitely sushi grade, and I could tell that it also wasn't previously frozen due to the color and texture. The miso soup and the spicy edamame were well-seasoned and delicious. My nephew had a combination plate with orange chicken, broccoli beef, and chicken fried rice. One thing to note that was really nice is that the restaurant allows you to create your own combination plates, they're not set items with no substitutions. When our waitress brought my nephew's combo plate, the food looked freshly cooked and delicious! He ate every bite! Easily placing the sushi here as good if not better than osaka. I put my pops onto this spot and i now can finally close our ever lasting debate of who has the best chow mein in the 209/Valley.

Despite this long wait, there were actually quite a few empty tables, but was overall still very busy. When you put yourself on the waitlist, they notify you through text when your table is ready. This gave us ample time to walk around Downtown while we waited. When we received the table-ready text (just short of an hour later), we were sat quickly in a nice U-shaped booth. This seating arrangement felt a bit awkward for a party of two, especially if you are sharing food. The booth is too big to be sitting close enough to reach but too small to not feel awkward. It is perfect for people watching though since the booths face the entire restaurant. By this time, the restaurant was completely packed, with just about every booth, table, and barstool occupied. Our waiter came quickly to take our drink orders. We got a Cucumber Martini and an Espresso Martini. The Cucumber Martini was incredibly light and refreshing. The Espresso Martini was not impressive. It didn't have a strong espresso flavor and was rather watery, but still alright. This is the type of restaurant, that especially on busy nights like this where they don't accept reservations, you should allocate a lot of time for the dinner service for. There is a significant time gap between each time the waiter comes around to take your order. There was probably 15-20 minutes between placing our drink, appetizer, and meal orders. This was not a problem for us, but if you are eating here before making a show at the Gallo Center, this may be something to consider. For our appetizer, we ordered the Salmon Ceviche. It was insanely good. It was subtly spicy and citrusy. The chips that came with it were light and not oily at all. I wish the portion was larger because the two of us swallowed it up in just a few bites. For our entree, we got the Salmon Tataki and Goodi Rolls to split. They were both very good and came out on a lovely platter. They tasted very fresh and high quality. The prices here are on the higher side but is nice for a special occasion or splurge. Our server was very attentive and checked on us often. He was super friendly too. The restaurant was super lively. They were playing club music which was totally a vibe. It looked like this was the spot people hit before going out for the night. I noticed they were accommodating for both small and large parties, serving both rather quickly. I'll be back!

There was a dollop of wasabi and one packet of soy sauce in the container as well. As supermarket sushi goes, it was actually pretty good. The rice was firm rather than hard and stale. I actually like artificial crab in general, and the eel was rather tasty. Everything tasted a little better with just a touch of soy sauce.
