This is a chain, the restaurant is small and located in strip mall area with in a shopping center with other food options. You walk up to a counter to order and then find a place amongst the few tables. The Hubbs wanted pizza, I chose this place - no surprise, it had rice! I've been wanting to give Ramen 101 a try since we have one located just down the street from home. It was cold and wet outside, so I ended up ordering the Tonkatsu creamy pork Ramen which has pork, fish cake, mushrooms, bean sprouts, egg, and bamboo shoots. It sounds like a lot of added stuff, but really it's mostly noodles as the meats are only two thin slices of each. The best part about this dish is the creamy pork soup and the 2 thin slices of roasted pork. As another yelper mentioned, the noodles just didn't add anything to the soup. You would think with a name like Ramen 101 that the Ramen noodles themselves would be better. The hubbs got a combo plate with teriyaki chicken and grilled beef, which is served on a bed of blanched cabbage, steamed broccoli and rice. He asked for no macaroni salad. His food was good, but I think he was disappointed that it wasn't Pizza. The babes got a small plate with shrimp that came with rice, macaroni salad, steamed broccoli, and blanched cabbage. The shrimp are butterflied and then shaped in a circle with so much crunchy breading that you really can't taste the shrimp. This is a casual, reasonably priced primarily to go place. The food isn't amazing, but it's not bad either. Staff is friendly and greet you when you come in.

There are plenty of parking spaces. You order first and then sit down to eat. I ordered the Unagi Rice (Grilled Japanese Eel) and it was good, but it's just the eel and a lot of rice, no vegetables or anything else. The only downside is that there are a lot of rice, but 2 small eels to where I finished the eels quicker than the rice. The eels were really good though, it was soft and plenty of sauce on the eel made it yummy. Recommendation(s): - Unagi Rice Service: 5/5 Tip(s): - Plenty of parking spaces - Restrooms available - Accept Apple Pay

Never disappointed with the teriyaki chicken, regular and mini size. Always down to come here for a quick bite. There's ample parking but the restaurant is kinda small, there is seating available. You walk in and order at the counter then take a seat, server delivers food to the table. Never had an issue with the service or the food. Cute lil spot, def my go to when wanting a teriyaki chicken. My friend got the chicken katsu and really liked it as well. Just need to get myself to order something different next time, lol.

I've been to this place many times when they opened up but for some reason today it wasn't right the takoyaki were burnt and overcooked I gotten two orders of it for me and my girlfriend we eat it inside just so you know we had other things like vegetable tempura the crab rangoons and an order of spam musubi all those were good except for those balls looking things lol sorry to say this keep in mind they had Mexicans working back there before they had Asians

Small restaurant but plenty of parking. Came in and there was no one behind the register. We weren't sure if we needed to seat ourselves or if someone would seat us, but since no one was there we walked to the register, saw some menus, grabbed a couple and sat ourselves down at a table. Still didnt know if someone would take our order but we saw someone else go up to the register and start to order so we did the same. We ordered an appetizer and two entrees. One entree came out first, a bit later the appetizer came out, then after some time, the second entree came out. The person eating the first entree was about 3/4 done with their meal before I ever got my plate. The ramen was good, broth had good flavor. The chicken karaage tasted more greasy than anything. The batter didn't have much flavor. The bbq mix plate was okay. The rice was cooked well. The beef and chicken tasted good. But the macaroni salad had no flavor, very basic. Service was okay. The guy was nice but overall service was kinda lacking. Probably won't go back again but it was worth a shot because the prices were decent

We had been looking for a long time for good local Teriyaki chicken with no luck. At a friends house they had a delicious Teriyaki chicken in a to go platter that was from here. We finally tried it personally. We had Ramen and a Teriyaki chicken with the sauce on the side. The Ramen was good but there are better options in Modesto, the broth lacks depth, it was good just not my flavor. The chicken did not disappoint, it was awesome. I really liked the macaroni salad that came with it and service was good. We came back a few days later and ordered a platter of the chicken which as it turns out also has some freshly blanched cabbage and broccoli which was great. Good service, nicely decorated and clean. This will be a regular spot for us, finally we found good Teriyaki!!

Located in McHenry village, next to the postal annex, I've seen Konfucious Eats whenever I drive…read moreon Briggsmore. I never was interested in going there for years since it's been there but decided to try it tonight. Firstly, the ramen place holds maybe 40 at most and we had to wait a while before we were seated. They asked if we had a reservation but didn't think that it would be needed since it's not like a fancy restaurant and I don't know many ramen places that takes reservations. Since we didn't , we got seated on the bar which is fine. For it being in Modesto, they try to get the anime vibe with toys and anime art around. I'm no ramen expert but I've tried over a dozen ramen places in Tokyo, Vancouver, Japan town in LA, San Francisco, Oahu, Seattle just to name a few cities. So we got first the spicy garlic edamame. Not bad at all, had a kick to it and was edible. From a scale of 1 to 5. I'd give it a 5. For the main entree, I wanted the garlic tonkatsu but the waitress said they ran out.... Ok, for a Saturday night at 6 pm, running out of a ramen and they've been in business for several years now?!? never had that happen before in any ramen shop I've been to. So me and my wife both got the Ichiraku ramen which was a miso broth with pork belly. Price $23. I added 2 more pork belly at $5 more. Oh, the waitress mentioned no bamboo shoots and no fish cake........ ok, never had that happen before in a ramen shop. So while eating edamame, I kept track of how long it took we got our ramen.... It took 30 minutes before we got our ramen... definitely atypical to wait that long wait but I guess it's because they offer a lot of items besides ramen. Presentation was fine, the pork belly was seared on one side with a blow torch since I can taste that searing. . It just had green onions, 2 seaweeds and 2 soft boiled eggs which I was impressed the yolk wasn't overcooked. The noodles I chose was thin and was good with a soft texture. The miso broth was average Over all, it was an okay ramen. Me and my wife both didn't finish our bowls... definitely unusual since we love ramen but somehow, it didn't fulfill our satiety to finish and be content. I can tell you that of all the ramen places I've been to. This is average and doesn't compare to Ramen 101 in Modesto that I've ordered many times before my first time here. Sadly, I can only give it 3 stars because the ramen was average and not in the same league as other ramens I've had in other places and cities. And if me and my wife couldn't finish our ramen, that's a tell tale sign it was just okay. Plus, the place is called Konfucius Eats, doesn't have a Japanese name for a restaurant since "Confucius " is a Chinese Philosopher lol. In fact, I didn't see any Japanese or Asian cooks... just saying that's atypical to the other ramen establishments I've been to. For Modesto, it's aight. I just can't see myself going back here for a long time. Lastly, they are open Tuesday to Saturday only .

I am sad to leave this review because we had good service and our food came with decent timing, but unfortunately the food was not all that great. We ordered the black garlic ramen, kimchi fried rice, and some spicy edamame. The black garlic ramen was bland, neither the noodles nor the broth were rich. It honestly tasted like watered down instant noodles. The kimchi fried rice was decent, but the kimchi itself didn't taste like it was fermented and just dipped in. The edamame was almost good, but was too salty. All-in-all, I don't think that it is worth going to, unless you want to taste and see for yourself. I know everyone has different taste buds, but this was my personal opinion on my experience.

It not only is a fun concept, you can get quite creative with how you build your hot pot and choose just the things to your liking. I was amazed that they had very authentic Chinese ingredients to choose from - wood ear, enoki mushrooms, bok choy, different kinds of noodles, fish balls, Napa cabbage, octopus, and lots of different varieties of selfish, plus much much more! I chose the traditional broth and they even had Chinese red dates in it plus wolfberries (sometimes known as Goji berries) in the broth just like what I grew up with The service was just ok, since it was our first time there we had to ask a lady to show us what we were supposed to do. She was helpful, but the servers don't come around very often. That said, the plates and dishes clutter up really fast and they don't come around very often to clear the dishes, for which I would have taken a star off.
