Spicy Shiro Very tasty .
Joi L.

Good food, served quick. We got the spicy ramen. It was tasty and we'd return. We also had the tempura shrimp that was pretty good as well. I like that you can eat ramen or wings from next door in either establishment, so if you're torn between the two we'll get both!

Another Ramen addition to the Central Valley. With the lack of variety in Asian cuisines, it is great to see a restaurant dedicated to the focus of ramen dishes. Walking in you order upfront. They have your typical variety of ramen bowls to choose from going from tonkotsu, shoyu, miso, shio, and vegetarian. I went with the popular recommendation of Kuro Tonkotsu (Black) and my partner got Shiro Tonkotsu (White). Both are pork-based broths and come with slight toppings that vary. The Kuro does not have an egg included so I paid an extra $2 for that. In addition, we ordered Chicken Karaage as an appetizer. We were seated immediately and waited probably 10 minutes for our food to arrive. The chicken kaarage was very crispy and had a great marinade with spices and was not too salty. Plus, it comes with a spicy mayo dipping sauce to give it some sweetness for balance. For the price of $9 I wish it came with more pieces of chicken. Our ramen bowls were also delicious! The Kuro Tonkotsu ramen had great garlic flavor and was very rich. A great amount of saltiness paired with a nice bounce from the noodles, which were cooked perfectly for me. The Shiro Tonkotsu had a nice lighter flavor along with the same broth characteristics of the Kuro. The Japanese-styled eggs were a nice addition with a slight run on the inside, although a tad on the salty side. My main concern I would say was the pork chashu. They were pretty burnt, dry, too lean, and thin. They should be fattier, thicker, and not overcooked. Also, there was a noticeable inconsistency in the chopping of their green onions. We had some small cuts along with thick, wider cuts of green onions. Looking forward to coming back and trying the other stuff on their menu!

Kuro Ramen - chasu pieces were delicious but so small and thin

Ordered a Kuro (tonkotsu with black garlic) extra spicy and a soda for a little less than $19. $19 for bowl of ramen not in the bay area? You order and pay at the counter and then sit down. DO NOT get the extra spicy option, you won't be able to taste the actual broth in their kuro or veggie ramen. They gave two tiny pieces of chasu, but they were delicious pieces and no egg in the kuro. Didn't taste any garlic flavor. Overall I wish the chasu pieces were bigger or they gave at least 2 more pieces given the size and thickness of the meat. This spot was edible but I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here again.

Love this ramen place located near the University! I have been here twice now and love the ramen. The decor is unique but very modern. The staff are always nice and serve us as soon as we walk in. The usually comes fairly quick, so no complaints there. I would definitely recommend visiting this location if you haven't already! It's connected to a fire wings which is perfect if your friend wants wings and you want ramen!

Veggie tempura. $8 got 5 pics. One pc was a russet potato, which was odd.

Finally went to Daraman with a few friends. I ordered the veggie tempura, shiro ramen and funaguchi sake. I was super excited to see this sake. I grew to love it at another restaurant I used to frequent in Lathrop and I did find it available at a local Asian market. I never really get to see it in other restaurants, so I knew I had to get it. It's a cold sake and on the sweet side The veggie tempura was $8. I thought it was a little pricey, since I can usually get a whole tempura shrimp/veg dinner with soup, rice and salad for about $12 at other places. It came with broccoli, onion, zucchini, yellow squash and russet potato. The squash/zucchini was cut really thick and hard to bite into while hot. The russet potato totally threw me off. That was something I had never seen in any tempura I've had before and not sure how I felt about it. The shiro has chashu, aji-tama egg, Naruto, corn and bean sprouts. I was asked if I wanted it spicy and ended up ordering it medium. It wasn't very spicy at all. To me, it tasted like maybe they just added chile powder. The pork was cooked well and flavorful and I enjoyed the egg. I found the noodles to be chewier than I would have liked. Overall, I thought my meal was ok. It just doesn't compare to my favorite ramen place in the bay area.

One thing that hasn't changed: tipping when you pay for your meal, before you get your food. If they want to play this game, I will pay in cash from now on. I'll say it again: I have nothing against tipping, but I will do it when I'm done eating. And not a moment before. I had the Chicken Kaarage Curry with rice. There was a bed of rice on the bottom, with a thick sauce poured over it, topped with chicken. The chicken was the best part of the meal. It came searing hot right out of the fryer, and it was excellent. The sauce was very heavy, with not that much flavor. It tasted like no curry I have ever eaten. The teriyaki chicken with rice was a better meal.

Ramen-miso based

The noodles were warm and a little tough. I'd prefer it hotter and slurpy. Overall, they were very okay.

Shiro tonkatsu with extra chashu pork

Located conveniently by the University and open relatively late, this small ramen shop is delicious and cozy. The staff is pleasant AND they have beer and sake available for purchase. I came in for lunch and had the Extra Spicy Shiro Ramen. The broth was OUT OF THIS WORLD and so tasty! It was absolutely phenomenal! The only reason why this place doesn't get 5-stars from me is because (as a few other folks have mentioned) the pork chashu is so thin and underwhelming. It still has great flavor, but for the price is just not enough. For me to add two small additional pieces of the pork, it was an additional $4 (FOUR!) and was def not worth the price. That's my only complaint, but let me just re-emphasize that the broth is rich and amazing!

Dined here weekly during my summer enrollment at Stan State for convenience. The ramen is decent for the Central Valley. Look to spend $18 or more with tax and a standard tip. I would expect a little more of that delicious Chashu pork for the price. Though the Kuro Tonkatsu is slightly more premium, it's disappointing that it doesn't include an Ajitama egg, which quite frankly isn't expensive. Convenient, but not necessarily practical for a typical meal. Bay Area prices, not quite Bay Area standards. A solid 3.5 from me. Shout out to the staff member that always asked about my day, hope you're well.

Great stuff! Almost too much food for one person. Appetizer options are really great too.

The interior has a nice, relaxed vibe with comfortable seating and a clean, inviting atmosphere. We started with the calamari and edamame. The calamari was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with just the right amount of seasoning. The edamame was lightly salted and had a wonderful flavor that made it easy to snack on while we waited for our main courses. I had the Korean stone bowl and was very impressed. The beef was tender, flavorful, and slightly sweet, and everything was served piping hot in a beautifully presented bowl. My husband had the salmon bowl and thought it was cooked perfectly with a nice balance of flavors. Another friend tried the coconut shrimp curry and said it was delicious, with a rich and slightly sweet coconut sauce that paired well with the shrimp. Overall, we were very happy with the food and the experience. The restaurant felt clean and well-maintained, and the staff made sure our meal went smoothly. I would definitely come back if I am in the area.

My 4th time here and it's just never been a place that I thought was so good, I need to come back…read more Came for a christmas party. The holiday drinks were just posted on social media two days prior and they were already unable to make one of the drinks. I've had the peppermint martini a few years ago, so went back to that. It was good, but I remember it being a little better before. Also, the presentation of drinks seems to change based on who is making them. Sometimes it's rimmed with peppermint, mine was on the side of the glass. Same issue as last time. The peppermint was too heavy and sliding down the glass, making the stem sticky when picked up. We shared several different sushi rolls. The rice seemed way over done. It was one mushy texture and the spicy tuna lacked spice. I ordered the salmon for my entree. Salmon was well cooked with a glaze and served with broccoli. First bite of broccoli tasted burnt, but luckily the rest was fine. We ordered all the desserts to sample and the best was the flourless chocolate cake and the cheesecake with the bananas. Our server was super sweet and always made sure we had what we needed.
