I can't believe that I haven't reviewed this wonderful place before. My wife and I have been going here for years and have always had tasty meals, well prepared with outstanding service. They are thoughtful, have a very clean establishment and are a pleasure to return to. My wife loves them so much that she will ask me to stop by and get us dinner (she still works, I am retired).

So I was initially sad to see that they no longer had salmon katsu on the menu since they came under new ownership but I asked our server if it was still possible to order and she said yes so I was elated! A little bummed they no longer make the tartar sauce for it but everything was just a delicious as I remember and the service is always top notch here. I also love that you can watch the chefs making your rolls and sashimi. I also love that the restaurant is large enough to accommodate larger parties for special occasions.

This is still our favorite Japanese restaurant in town. There are many options but the service and the flavor profile of their sauces, dressing, and roll combination are our favorite. We love their salad dressing. Our favorite rolls are the dragon and spicy tuna roll but next time we are trying their lobster roll as it look spectacular. Always busy yet service is efficient, friendly, and they are always willing to accommodate special requests.

Service was amazing!! I gave them a thumbs up on FB and they brought our table a free side of steamed edamame! Their small house salad was filling! They also offer complimentary miso soup before your meal.

Trash.$18 for Sakè? $25 for oysters? $15 for waygu??? Been coming here to Sit down and eat since they opened and now unfortunately, I don't think l'l be ever coming back to sit down ever again. My total before tip used to be back ever again. My total before tip used to be $50-75 and today I was so surprised when it was over $100 smh. lt's not worth over $100, your better off enjoying the freshness of Sukiyaki with Nick or Okawa with Sebastian. My sashimi was warm and the girls forgot my salad. They secretly upcharged me. I should have never came back after I spotted and killed a cockaroach with my own hands at the sushi bar less than 3 weeks after the original owners retired. Now Sushi Garden is a dump spot owned by the owners who own all the other Japanese dump spots in town!! Such a disgrace this is. To top it off Fred wasn't here today so I should have known better. Sad Sad Sad this was my go to but no more. I urge everyone to take your hard earned money and precious time else where because Sushi Garden has gone down the drain.

I had heard about Viet Noodles Xpress and decided to give it a try. The pho hit the spot. The quality of the beef is not as great as what I get in San Jose but it was still good, the broth had great flavor and the noodles were cooked perfectly. It was super comforting and much needed after being in the mountains for a few days. My wife ordered the bun bo hue and it tasted great. Lots of protein options and really good depth of flavor in the broth. I enjoyed it almost as much as the Pho. The staff was awesome. It looks like a family owned place and everyone worked together smoothly and was really welcoming. They were friendly, gave suggestions, and were quick with everything we needed. This will definitely be a spot we check out again if we are ever in the Modesto area.

My kid and I got our orders a bit later (which happens), but incomplete: the young white blonde waitress/cashier who took our order (we were there at 3PM on 9 August 2026) did not bring my kid's soup, and our trays did not have paper napkins or sauces. After a few minutes of watching other people being served their soup, I went back to the counter and asked for the soup. The same cashier/waitress said "Oh sorry." and assured us we would get it right away. We again watched other people being served their soup, and I had to go up and re,moind the waitress a second time to fill our order. When she did bring the order a few minutes later, again, there were no paper napkins and no butter with the bread, the waitress asked if we wanted some. Why was our initial order incompletely served? Why did we have to remind them to fill it twice? Why were we not given paper napkins? Why did we have to ask for butter with the bread when it is standard? I don't _know_ that it is racism per se, it might just be incompetence. But the corporation needs to understand why their employees' behavior needs to be not just equal but equitable: you have to be extra careful to not commit unconscious micro-aggressions, because the same "incompetence" lands differently when it is repeated, seems not to happen to white folks and the associated perceived bias has accumulated, we are not "more sensitive".

I never was interested in going there for years since it's been there but decided to try it tonight. Firstly, the ramen place holds maybe 40 at most and we had to wait a while before we were seated. They asked if we had a reservation but didn't think that it would be needed since it's not like a fancy restaurant and I don't know many ramen places that takes reservations. Since we didn't , we got seated on the bar which is fine. For it being in Modesto, they try to get the anime vibe with toys and anime art around. I'm no ramen expert but I've tried over a dozen ramen places in Tokyo, Vancouver, Japan town in LA, San Francisco, Oahu, Seattle just to name a few cities. So we got first the spicy garlic edamame. Not bad at all, had a kick to it and was edible. From a scale of 1 to 5. I'd give it a 5. For the main entree, I wanted the garlic tonkatsu but the waitress said they ran out.... Ok, for a Saturday night at 6 pm, running out of a ramen and they've been in business for several years now?!? never had that happen before in any ramen shop I've been to. So me and my wife both got the Ichiraku ramen which was a miso broth with pork belly. Price $23. I added 2 more pork belly at $5 more. Oh, the waitress mentioned no bamboo shoots and no fish cake........ ok, never had that happen before in a ramen shop. So while eating edamame, I kept track of how long it took we got our ramen.... It took 30 minutes before we got our ramen... definitely atypical to wait that long wait but I guess it's because they offer a lot of items besides ramen. Presentation was fine, the pork belly was seared on one side with a blow torch since I can taste that searing. . It just had green onions, 2 seaweeds and 2 soft boiled eggs which I was impressed the yolk wasn't overcooked. The noodles I chose was thin and was good with a soft texture. The miso broth was average Over all, it was an okay ramen. Me and my wife both didn't finish our bowls... definitely unusual since we love ramen but somehow, it didn't fulfill our satiety to finish and be content. I can tell you that of all the ramen places I've been to. This is average and doesn't compare to Ramen 101 in Modesto that I've ordered many times before my first time here. Sadly, I can only give it 3 stars because the ramen was average and not in the same league as other ramens I've had in other places and cities. And if me and my wife couldn't finish our ramen, that's a tell tale sign it was just okay. Plus, the place is called Konfucius Eats, doesn't have a Japanese name for a restaurant since "Confucius " is a Chinese Philosopher lol. In fact, I didn't see any Japanese or Asian cooks... just saying that's atypical to the other ramen establishments I've been to. For Modesto, it's aight. I just can't see myself going back here for a long time. Lastly, they are open Tuesday to Saturday only .
