    Chowmein and honey prawns
    Olivia H.

The server was the best part of this experience - she was very sweet and considerate! If I was rating service alone, she would get 5 stars! As for the food, despite the large portions, it lacked flavor. The chow mein and prawns tasted rather like regret and bland grease. The noodles were very mushy and lacked a QQ texture. The wonton soup broth was more like water.

I've been coming here for decades while working in San Ramon. The food was hot and tasty. Ever since the originals sold the business, I thought It'd give it a try. Mind you, I live 20+ miles away. Last time, the food was ice cold, the entrees were meh at best. Thought I'd give 'em another try since I was in the neighborhood. Even though you get lotsa food, it was lackluster and timid. Not hot at all. On top of that, I paid for a tip (see receipt) that I didn't authorize, can you imagine that? After I got home, it wasn't worth my time to go back or call to retrieve the tip. Well, that's it. Au revoir, that's the end of my money trail period. No wonder why there was no one there in line, like before. Sad situation.

Felt like I found a hidden gem when visiting my friend in San Ramon and coming here for some chinese. Definitely a small hole in the wall place and I think considering the giant portions for a cheap price, it's worth it to come here. It'll fill you up and leave you with leftovers for the next couple of days. Don't expect the best fine dining, but I enjoyed their honey prawns, sweet&sour pork, fried rice, and chow mein. Just an honest place for a quick meal and bang for your buck! Service was fast and you can't dine in but you can easily eat at the tables outside in the plaza.

Support your local mom/pop restaurants!! Whenever I'm hankering for some quick delicious Chinese food I go to Orient Express!! Of course it's quick since their food and readily available. It's affordable and they give you large portions! They DO NoT skimp! I came in craving for their salt and pepper chicken so I ordered a 2 item meal with that, half n half fried rice and chow mein and zucchini chicken but I noticed that they added salt n pepper prawns and honey walnut prawns to their items line for $2+ more. I didn't order it this time since I wanted the salt n pepper chicken but told the lady scooping things up that I vow to come back to give those a try. She was Soo nice and offered to give me a few so I can try them. They are definitely tasty and possibly my new favorite!! The prawns are a good juicy size! Needless to say.. but I'll say it haha I'm coming back for lunch another day and order those!!

    Wonton soup! Bomb!

Holy!! Total hole in the wall but bomb ass food!!!! Tried the soups, the fried rice, noodles, beef and broccoli, orange chicken, I've tried a lot of items, I come here every time I'm in town. I highly recommend. It's all to go, there's no indoor dining. The lady that takes your order is very friendly, especially after she knows you. This feels like real authentic Chinese food, like a grandma would make. Warning, portions are huge, can def feed two normal people or on super hungry one.

I wanted to try the made to order chow fun but unfortunately they were out the day I went. This place is a hole in the wall with trays of food that you can choose from. I opted for the two item combo with lemon chicken and sweet and sour pork. The pieces of pork were definitely tough and it wasn't great. The lemon chicken was good though and similar to popcorn chicken texture. I also got the zucchini chicken and fried fish. The chicken was tough and the zucchini had huge chunks. The only thing I really enjoyed was the chow mein and fried rice.

Can't go wrong with quick and easy Chinese takeout! If you're on a budget and want tons of food that isn't corporate fast food chain, this is the way to go. I normally get chicken and walnut shrimp that I can normally split it for lunch and dinner if I already ate a hefty breakfast. Service is fast and easy, all the staff are generous with the portions. Food taste great too!

2 entrees plate - sweet and sour pork, salt and pepper chicken, with chow mein

Where every other restaurant is getting more expensive with smaller portions, Orient Express breaks the trend to provide amazing value. If you are hungry and on a budget, you will not find a better deal than here. I ordered the 2 entree plate for ~$13. The food was over flowing, I couldn't even believe they fit all that food into the container. The food quality is your average Americanized Chinese food, on par with Panda Express. You would not come here looking for gourmet Chinese food, but you can't beat this if looking value

I've passed by this place who knows how many times. Then I heard the original owner was retiring and I thought I missed my chance to try it. But I think they're under new management now. Finally has a chance to check them out. Their menu is limited but pretty standard. They had 1 item and 2 items box. When I went they didn't have the mixed veggies option. Here are the items I tried: Salt and pepper chicken 3.5/5 Taste is good but since they do sit in the tray they're not as crispy. Hot tofu 4/5 Not that spicy at all. Like mapo tofu without the pork. I like it a lot Bbq pork 3.5/5 It's extra $1 to add it to the box. Taste is good. It's not as fatty which I like but there's a bit of a strong gamey taste to it. Not sure why. Fried rice 4/5 Noodles 4/5 Standard chow mein Hot and sour soup 2/5 (taste 3/5 but not enough filling) For the price it's not the best bang for your buck. 1 item box is $10 2 items box is $10.75 Large soup is almost $8 I think ($7 something) The nice lady really piled it up in the box. You won't go home hungry. 2 boxes fed our family of 4 easily with leftovers. This is a no frills hole in a wall find. But if you're on a budget for some Chinese food this is a decent place to go.

This is a san Ramon staple. Super inexpensive and they give you a ton of food. Make sure you try them after 4pm for the BBQ pork.

The food is inexpensive and you get a lot of it, but it's greasy and there is better quality Chinese food in the area.

There was never an entree I didn't love. We always ordered the salt and pepper prawns with no shell because they never over batter it and it's perfectly seasoned. You taste everything. But honestly, you'll never go wrong with whatever you order. The first time I went, probably a decade ago, I had my doubts because the staff was super nice and efficient. Usually restaurants with good staff overcompensate because the food was off, but they continue to impress even after 10 years. The inside is peaceful as well. Love the art on the walls and the soft music that plays. Bathroom is pretty clean too. Everything there is clean. I hope they come back soon, someone better write a review when they do! Since they closed due to the fire, I've been eating at all sorts of Chinese restaurants-both Americanized and traditional. But i just can't find anyone who can do food just like them with good quality ingredients and perfect flavoring.

It also has a good atmosphere too as its not a big restaurant either and still fun to sit down and eat lunch or dinner at. Which speaking of which, the deals are pretty good too especially at lunch when you can get a meal with rice, a poultry dish and soup. The same also applies to dinner too except with dinner there are good choices that you can choose for like a family dinner which is even better. This can not only help you save some money, but it can also make it easier for you to try most of everything so you can decide if you want to come back. Give it a try for sure as its right near the Trader Joe's of San Ramon.

Dining room looks very upscale for a mom and pop operation. Staff is very gracious and accommodating. I was there for a late lunch once. Watched a family of 5 walk in wanting to sit down and order. The restaurant was technically closed for a staff lunch and reset for dinner. The front door was unlocked only to let stragglers like me and another table out after finishing our meal. The server was nice and let the family stay. Great customer service isn't the only reason for the 4 stars. AW has amazing value lunch deals. Love the simple stirfries best. Healthy but tasty. Lots of quality veggies. Highly enjoyed the veggie and shrimp stirfry. The string bean beef is also yummy. My sister thinks their hot and sour soup is great. I love the crunchy woodear mushrooms while she likes the flavor. We both appreciate the kitchen not skimping on the tofu, bamboo shoots and egg. Not everything is a favorite tho. Tried the mushu for takeout once. Didn't enjoy AZ's version. Also didn't enjoy their veggie eggrolls. Wrapper was good and crispy but veggie filling was oddly mushy. Happy to find Amazing Wok as our regular neighborhood place closed recently. AW is a few miles further but it is now our "go to" Chinese American restaurant. What a great find in San Ramon!…read more Peking Delight in the Gateway Centre Shopping Center, offers an extensive menu with 100's of items. I was there on a Friday, at around 5pm. It's not a large place, it has 7 4-seat tables and 2 large round tables. Service was prompt and quick, even as the place filled up for dinner time. Now, my favorite chinese comfort food is Won Ton Soup. Peking Delight has EIGHT different types of Won Ton Soups. Including three soups you seldom find in Chinese restaurants anymore. I ordered: - Duck Yee Won Ton Soup, $16.00 - Eggrolls, 4/ $6.50 First off, the eggrolls were fresh.....as in not mushy inside. The outer wrapper was golden brown and crisp. The filling was crunchy. Pour the sweet 'n sour sauce over them, and those eggrolls were near perfect. Nice price at $6.50 an order. Duck Yee Won Ton Soup - I haven't enjoyed this soup in decades. If you ever want to try something different, try Yee Won Ton Soups. You seldom see these won ton soups in restaurants. What is Duck Yee Won Ton Soup? It's deep fried won ton dumplings in a dark savory broth. Then they add lots of pieces of boneless roast duck, with the skin and fat still on. Peking Delight added some veggies and some strips of beef. The fried won tons soak up the flavor in the broth, and create a rich and flavorful soup. For me this soup was a meal. It had 9-10 dumplings. The soup didn't quite have that distinctive flavor that I remember from San Francisco Chinatown, but it was a good hearty won ton soup. Serving wise, it's enough for two people. I would definitely return. Free parking in lot. Gateway Centre is at San Ramon Blvd x Alcosta Blvd, right next to I-680.

Several of the dishes tasted like they skipped every seasoning in the kitchen -- just flat, dull, and forgettable. Definitely not a place I'd return to. There are far better spots that actually care about their customers.
