It is small, but don't let that deter you. It was a find and the food is delicious. The service is good. we ordered a couple of items to take home. The lunch menu is generous portion and the prices are reasonable by current standards. I ordered the salt and pepper fish which was filet of sole that looked like nuggets, accompanied by fired rice and a cup of egg flower soup. I have tried and tried to be supportive of BO. Since his purchase of the restaurant a number of years ago I have sadly watched the food quality go from good to bad to awful. I tried again yesterday. Ordered the lightly breaded pork chop lunch special. The pork was so tough I could not chew it. I ordered fried rice and got noodles. I ordered the shrimp with lobster sauce (which Ive had for decades at various restaurants). The shrimp were like rubber, it was loaded with green peppers (which Ive never seen in a shrimp with lobster sauce dis), the gravy was like tasteless water, and ther there was NO traditional lobster sauce Bo is not a chef and his dishes are subpar. I ordered egg food young a few months ago....the outside was burned, the inside was uncooked, and it hadno flavor. I hate to say it, but you should avoid this restaurant. Ive given up on this place. We were looking for some Chinese food for lunch today and we came across Mandarin Delight, so we decided to give it a try. These were the dishes we tried: - Firecracker Chicken: it was deep fried chicken breast chunks tossed with spicy Sichuan peppercorns and dried chilies. Despite using chicken breast, the chunks were surprisingly tender and didn't feel dry at all. The spicy, numbing flavor really came through, but I felt like the dish was severely under salted. I think just a little more salt would've elevated the flavor completely. Also this dish wasn't spicy at all to us even though we were forewarned that it was gonna be spicy. - Spicy Basil Chicken: this dish had a flavor profile that reminded me of Thai style Basil Chicken Stir Fry, but I thought the Thai stir fry version was far superior. The flavor wasn't bad though, and what really impressed me was the chicken. The slices were so soft and tender that I couldn't believe I was eating chicken. The texture almost reminded me of fish cake, it was that tender. However, I did think the dish was a little unbalanced, with the vegetables taking up a much larger portion of the dish than the chicken. And I did think that the bell peppers were undercooked. - The House Special Chow Mein was fantastic. The flavor was smoky, savory, and slightly sweet, creating a really nice combo of flavors. The noodles were also nice and chewy and had a great bounce to them. I loved all the different toppings that came with it too, and there was also Bok Choy mixed in for some vegetables. The portion was pretty generous as well. Overall, the service was amazing. The older couple, who I assume were the owners, seemed to do pretty much everything themselves. They took our order, brought out the food, and checked on us throughout the meal. They were very hospitable and nice. The ambience was just okay... The restaurant felt a little cramped and was somewhat dark. One thing I really didn't like, though, was that the kitchen was open and right next to the dining area. DIRTY, DIRTY, DIRTY Very disappointing experience at Mandarin Delight in Dublin. I came in for the lunch special because both the online menu and the menu inside the restaurant showed that it included soup and an appetizer with the listed meals. However, the employee told me the appetizer was no longer included. If that is the case, the menus should be updated instead of advertising something customers will not receive. I still ordered two meals for takeout, but when I got back to the office, I discovered that they had only included one small chili sauce for both meals and no spoon for the soup--just two forks. These may seem like small details, but they reflect a lack of care and attention, especially for a takeout order. The food itself was only average. It lacked flavor, did not look very appealing, and some of it had a strange smell. I have eaten here in the past, and the quality and taste are definitely not what they used to be. Not to be hyperbolic, but this is the best Chinese spot in Dublin if not the East Bay (though the latter would be an especially absurdly bold claim) and anyone who says otherwise is a blithering idiot. That's not my opinion, that's an indisputable objective fact. Go argue with a newly painted wall. The two things I liked most in the three or so times I've eaten here are the Princess Chicken (which is sweet, slightly tangy, and crispy) and the fish fillets in black bean sauce. I appreciated the abundance of vegetables in the latter dish since I need to increase my fiber intake but it needed more fish fillet. There wasn't enough of it tonight. But it was delicious. Oh and the service is great. Staff is always nice, attentive, and quick to give drink refills. I also like that they have chili oil at their tables. I love chili oil. My girlfriend and I love coming here. Their special tofu with mushroom sauce and steamed fish are our go-tos. I also like getting moo shu vegetable from them. I went inside today and this was my second time dealing with the same server. This is a new place for us and after our first visit we have usually ordered to go because the food is really good. The staff overall are very nice and welcoming. Unfortunately this server was the only negative experience I have had here. She was very rude and arrogant and honestly seemed disturbed in her demeanor. I refunded my food before receiving the item. I did speak with management about it because I did not want to leave without addressing the issue. I feel bad giving a low rating because the food and most of the staff are great, but this interaction was uncomfortable enough that it needs to be mentioned. When I was younger my dad would take me to a restaurant that had the best and I mean the best seafood soup. Unfortunately that restaurant isn't around anymore. Fortunately however, Mandarin delight exists. Went here for dinner on a weekday, and I had to order the seafood soup, as well as the salt and pepper fish filet, and fried rice. Man the food here brought back memories of my dad taking me out to eat. The seafood soup is delish, and you can't beat the fish filet, and to wash it all down a sprite. Can't be beat. I'd say 3.8/5, it wasn't bad, but isn't as great as other dishes we had today. Wor wonton soup - ooouw it was just enough for 5 people, again standard. It's a light soup with a good amount of food versus liquid in it. I'd say 3.8/5. Walnut shrimp - I'm happy that it's not overly sweet and it was lightly breaded/fried. A bit less saucy than usual and maybe it can be crispier, but it was good! Another 3.8/5. Fish filet - GET THIS! Oh my goodness, who knew~I'm not joking, this is the best out of all of them. Lightly breaded and stayed crispy the whole a$$ time. I'm not sure what they be doing, but they cracked this dish for sure. Can't go wrong. We got it with sweet and sour sauce, but bet the other alternatives are just as good. 5/5 for sure. It's reasonable prices with what you get and even cheaper lunch options. I am estatic to now know where to go for fast and efficient Chinese food as well as good service. First of all, this place is not authentic Chinese food. It is heavily Americanized Chinese food that definitely is heavy on the sodium. Setting that expectation off the bat, Mandarin Delight was indeed a delight to dine at. We arrived around 6pm on a Sat, and the place was pretty empty and still had quite a few available tables to sit at. The restaurant itself is not that big, especially with the kitchen located on the dining floor and taking up a 3rd of the floorplan. But as we started eating, we noticed this place filled up really quickly by the time we were done. The staff here is friendly enough, and do a great job of clearing out plates and getting you your check when ready. The food prices here are very reasonable, and the portion sizes quite large. Despite the lack of authenticity, we could definitely understand the appeal given the price, freshness of ingredients, and large dish sizes. read more

It is always ready at the time of pick up that I've given them, and they always send you home with all the goodies your guests would want. My guests always ask where the amazing food is from! I got a combo egg foo with shrimp and chicken that shrimps for a nice size the batter in the egg was good and the veggies inside were good. The execution of the omelettes is what has me feeling like nah this could have been so much better. Normally egg foo young has this golden color evenly all around but this wasn't like that. This actually had parts of it that were damn near close to be burnt and I say that because of the taste. Burnt conveys bitterness to the taste and this has that, I wish he'd just taken his time a little more while preparing it especially since I. Got my sauce on the side I never get my egg drowning in sauce. The beef with peppers and onion. That was def the star plate the meat was tenderrrrrrrrr seasoned well in the sauce. I had the alleged Sichuan lunch special with the beef slices - ordered from the lunch menu. Beef slices were not abundant and they had a damp texture as if they've been doing hot yoga before I got there. I had to add spicy oil to the old looking fried rice. Despite my personal experience in Sichuan, there was no spice whatsoever, but there was a conference of an independent Bland Sauce across everything. Giving the lunch plate a sort of a flooded non feeling reminiscent of too much sauce.
