Soup and side dish?

More like a 3.5 because the katsu size is big however really really thin. If you remove the batter layer it is kinda half the thickness twice the size of a regular katsu. The sauce were okay, nothing special. I feel like they don't taste different from what you get from a bottle. I do like the generous portion of the cabbage salad though. For this price I think i prefer the korean/Japanese place in Fallon plaza instead. They took over Mao izakaya which is pretty big. Feels really spacious and clean. But there is a weird lingering smell when I entered which I couldn't really place. Once I sat down I don't smell it any more though. Service was okay. You order your own food on the tablet so honestly they just serve you the food and bring you the bill. Min suggested tipping is 18% none the less. This place makes me wanna go to yumeet soon to even out the experience.

Not busy at all on a Thursday evening. Order on the tablet on your table. Shared a few dishes, all were large portions. 5/5 Half & half. I preferred the regular katsu sauce but glad I got to try both. The spicy sauce was more like a vietnamese dipping sauce which was still tasty. Katsu was gigantic and had some sides of pasta salad and regular salad. Huge cutlet, perfectly cooked and crispy. 4/5 rose pasta with shrimp. Good, tasty. Wish they used a different pasta shape than spaghetti. Good shrimp to pasta ratio. 3.5/5 cheesy corn. I expected more of a korean style where the cheese is more of a sauce mixed into the corn but this was more corn with cheese on top then baked. The waitress kept asking if we were done and it made me feel rushed even though there was only one other table occupied. Would come back but would just stick to the katsu next time.

Half & Half Golden Wang Donkatsu

Golden Wang Donkatsu occupies a large restaurant space in a Dublin plaza. The menu features Korean-style donkatsu (breaded cutlets), along with a few Asian fusion dishes. The signature Golden Wang Donkatsu was a pounded pork cutlet fried with a panko breading, served with a savory sauce and a spicy sauce on the side. The plate also came with rice, cabbage with a creamy dressing, a creamy pasta/corn salad, and a serving of creamed corn soup. My favorite dish was the Rose Pasta with Donkatsu, a serving of pasta in a decadently creamy, rich tomato cream sauce. The serving of donkatsu was sliced and placed right into the sauce, which paired perfectly with the crispy breading. In addition to the donkatsu, we also tried a few noodle dishes including the Fish Cake Udon, a bowl of udon in dashi topped with several styles of tofu, fish cake, and fish balls; and the Spicy Cold Noodle, made of chewy noodles with lettuce, cabbage, cucumber, carrots, bean sprouts, and hard-boiled egg, all mixed with a spicy chili sauce. Overall, the food here was all delicious, and the no frills service and atmosphere were on point too!

Came here on a Saturday a week after grand opening. It was 1/2 full. The dishes are big. But the pork was quite thin. The ratio of pork and batter is 1:1 which made it hard to taste the pork. Overall, service was good, food was ok. Price was high. If they can offer half portion , that would be better. Not sure if I would be back often due to the price.

Signature donkatsu with two sauces

Golden Wang Donkatsu just opened in the Mad for Sushi location in Dublin. The concept cuisine is a Korean tonkatsu with western pastas. We ordered the following items: Clam Chowder Bread bowl $13, 4 stars the clam chowder seemed house made with clams and potatoes. Not institutionally made. Shrimp Rose' Pasta 4 stars the sauce was good the four shrimp that came with the pasta was premade and not very fresh. Donkatsu with two sauces 2 stars the donkatsu was large flat and fried dry. Doused in sauces bones with macaroni salad, rice and shredded cabbage. The entrees comes with a dish of assorted vegs. The complimentary corn soup was lukewarm warm at best.. Our server / host / cashier was excellent. The interior decor as well as the ordering kiosk remains unchanged . Plenty of parking.

Left: extra side daily (corn) soup. Right: corn soup that came with the meal

This restaurant replaced the former Japanese place Mad for Sushi. Located in an ample parking plaza across the way from Paris Baguette. This location still has the same modern Japanese vibe/decor from what I remember. I don't blame them for not changing it because there is nothing wrong with it. It's nice. Ordered: The pork and fish katsu Side of daily soup (corn chowder) Side of steamed rice The pork katsu was extremely thin but crunchy. If you dunk it into the sauce you will not notice how dry it was. The sauce I was not expecting. It tasted a cross between ketchup and BBQ sauce. The fish katsu was nice and crunchy. It was also pretty thin. I expected tartar sauce - that's normal right? The sauce I was served I couldn't get past the fact it tasted like ranch. The ratio of rice to this huge combo plate would be considered irrational to most Asians lol. (See pic). I added an extra side of rice since we were sharing. It came with a shredded cabbage salad and anti-pasta. An extra side of soup was ordered. My friend thought it was okay so I gave them my portion. The meal came with a soup already and I didn't like it. It was presented as corn soup. My opinion shouldn't count too much about this dish because I've only had corn pottage in Japan. Never had corn soup anywhere else. It tasted like canned mushroom soup to me and had that same consistency. I honestly wouldn't come back for the donkatsu or soup but I'm open to giving them a shot on their omurice and cold soba.

Meat seems fresher than Yumme Katsu. Pork Katsu and Fish Katsu are not marinated. If you like marinated and slightly tasteful inside, this Katsu here is not for you. Service was good. Prices range from $20 to $28 each dish. Plates are huge though. The cream sauce Katsu was good: would prefer more spaghetti than sauce. Way too much sauce. The fish katsu was really good. Ambiance is nice, similar to the previous two stores which were here: Mo and Mad for Sushi. Would come again.

Spicy Wang Donkatsu

I took my parents here and got the spicy golden wang. It's essentially the original katsu but with a sweeter, spicy sauce. The sauce to me personally, was not spicy and was on the sweeter side. The katsu was humongous! I'm one to usually finish all my food but honestly, I had enough to for a full meal. It came with a cabbage salad on the side, soup, and a side of rice. The sauce reminded me of a Thai chili sauce but less thick, and more red. There are several different options. The menu is super simple and has limited items but it definitely does the items super well. Katsu was crispy, and tender at the same time. Overall, solid spot.

This place was really bad.. the omurice wasn't even omurice, the egg was completely cooked through, the omurice tasted like sour ketchup over rice.. not authentic at all. I don't understand why wouldn't you put in the effort to learn to make the dish.. The cream pasta dish tasted like pasta roni. For a 30$ dish I expect a lot more food. The donkatsu was flavorless and dry. I will never be coming back here.

I was surprised to find out that Mad for Sushi closed but happy to see that we had a new restaurant to try. The shining star was the donkatsu. It was fried very well and had a beautiful crisp. The rose pasta was good. The cold noodles were good. I loved the presentation. The broth needed a bit more flavor bit overall. Side dishes were all pickled. Food was good and service was okay. The only reason i am knocking it down a star is because of price. The rose pasta was $28 and judging by the taste and presentation $28 seemed a bit high.

This is worrying.

Unfortunately, this was a disappointing experience. We had been here for over an hour, and the service was extremely slow. My mom ordered clam chowder as an appetizer, but it took an hour to arrive. We had to ask about it three separate times and were repeatedly told that they were very busy. What made it worse was that the rest of us received our meals before her appetizer even arrived. When the clam chowder finally came, there were no clams in it--just potatoes and croutons. The serving dish was also surprisingly shallow, which made the portion look fuller than it actually was. For a dish that took an hour to arrive, this was especially disappointing. I had also ordered food to go, and interestingly, that order came out before any of our dine-in meals. We were also asked to switch seats because the restaurant was expecting a large party. I noticed their large-party policy on the digital menu, which states that parties of six or more are subject to a mandatory 20% service charge to cover large-party service costs, with additional gratuity optional. Given that policy, I can understand why they wanted to accommodate the incoming group, but asking existing customers to move while we were already waiting for our food wasn't ideal. On the positive side, the restaurant itself has a nice ambiance. It's very clean, and the Asian-style lanterns add an interesting decorative touch to the space. Unfortunately, the slow service, missing clams, small portion, and overall handling of our meal overshadowed the positives. Overall, a disappointing experience, and not one we're likely to repeat.

Cream Pasta with Donkatsu and Rosé Pasta with Donkatsu...

place is quite ok and lots of parking spaces. service is just ok while foods: * olive oil & baguette: nice presentation for the sauce. the baguette is ok and put the sauce on top of it and yum... * cotn cheese: will say just ok, a bit too creamy for me. i prefer just corn and put mozzarella cheese on top and burn the cheese... * cream pasta with donkatsu and rosé pasta with donkatsu: noodles are cooked perfectly, al dente. sauces are great. donkatsu should be ok but i think should slice the chicken a bit thicker. when eating thin slice, feels just eat the batter instead of meat... * fish cake udon: recommended if you are udon lover and want to eat japanese noodle soup... if you are looking for katsu well mixed with pasta, then this place is recommended. overall, four stars...

corn soup and sides

HUGEEE portion size with a very generous heaping of sauce (i got it on the side). we came in a bit before they closed for lunch and ordered through a tablet at the table. they have a lot of options including pastas and other noodle dishes. the food came out pretty quickly and was served with a plate of a few side dishes and corn soup. the golden wang donkatsu ($21.99) katsu itself was very crispy had a good thickness. the fish katsu ($23.99) seemed to have a thicker crust that would flake off when you cut into the fish. both were cooked perfectly tho, the fish flaked apart nicely. the inside of the restaurant is spacious with lots of seating. it still has the japanese vibe from when it used to be mad for sushi. i was actually surprised i didn't hear anything about the store changing until i passed by and saw the sign! overall the food was yummy and i will definitely be back to try out more from their menu!

Thankfully, I did not swallow it, but this could have caused a serious injury. What made the situation even more concerning was the way the restaurant handled it. I expected management to take the incident seriously, preserve the foreign object, and provide a clear explanation. Instead, they would not give me the piece of wire. Finding metal in food is a serious food-safety issue. I hope management investigates how this happened and takes steps to make sure it doesn't happen to another customer. I strongly not recommend that the restaurant review its food preparation and safety procedures.

We arrived at 7:40 PM, and the manager, Joseph, told us the restaurant would close in 10 minutes. I said that's OK. We'll order the food and eat as much as we can there until we have to leave, and then we will leave by the time we are asked to leave. My boyfriend, Jeff, thought the restaurant was open until 8 PM, so he checked the website. It said the location was open till 8 PM, so he walked outside to check the time on the door, and it read 8 PM. There were no other signs that said they were closing at 7:50 PM. Jeff called somebody to complain about the time discrepancy while we were waiting for our order to arrive. When our order arrived, Kira brought our food to the table in a really cute to-go bag, and I like that she listened to us that we would eat as much food as we could while we were at the restaurant and then take the rest to eat at home when it came closer to 8 PM. Our food was ready pretty quickly; we had plenty of time to finish our food before 8 PM. However, I think Jeff just wanted the manager to be upfront with him and say that the store was closing at 8 PM, so it's better to take your food to go or something like that, not make up an arbitrary time to say what time the restaurant was closed. I'm rating this Koja kitchen location four stars mainly because of the outstanding customer service provided by Kira. The shell was flavorful with a coco nutty essence. If you dislike coconut then this might not be you're favorite but that's usual for this dish. My family makes it without but this version is still very tasty. Id come back if im in the area and wanted some Vietnamese street food snacks.

Next time bring a jacket 3 there really isn't a server , just a person they " will be abound " . You order off the QR CODE and then run a tab- well- with some people today - that's what they accept. For all the Michelin notations I would suggest more customer interaction. 3 the food was ok- not great - not bad - I will say I did like the shoshito peppers and the bon mi sandwhich - it's a shame the rest of the evening menu was not available - for that's what I see mostly recommended on Yelp. The Vietnamese coffee was ok- There was nothing special about the place- nothing that really made me think- I will be back. Kinda fast foodish when you order at McDonalds On a screen.. and then figure it out .. it maybe ok for people today - but I won't harp on that - great for introverts - so I guess it's " ok" ... If I wanted to play on my phone I would have stayed at home .. Parking is thin on the street.. there is parking.. if it's busy then you will have to walk a bit. When we got there I was asked for a reservation - maybe it's standard - but it was at noon and there were only a few people seating and quieter a few tables outside - so next time ? Make a reservation ??? This place was suggested by a coworker he raved about it - about what ? I don't know ... try it for yourself- see what your opinion is - mine is a C ....
