I cannot believe that I haven't written a review of Guezip! It is our favorite Korean restaurant because of the food, the complete dining experience & its owners - Jean & Jay! We started coming to the restaurant Jean & Jay ran in Dublin five years ago, and followed them to Livermore when they opened in July 2024. When we come we always order the Seafood Pancake. It is like no other. It is crispy & bursting with squid, crab, etc. It can serve four comfortably as a side dish or a main dish. We like to pair it with fried chicken if it's only hubby & me. This is our staple faves but have also enjoyed the Army Stew, Bulgogi, Tonkatsu, Gimbap, BIbimbap, Ttokkboeki, Short Ribs & Tofu soups. We've never been disappointed. We do refrain ordering the Army Stew or Tkbokkboeki if there isn't at least 4 pax in our party. The portions are large. And yes, they serve at least 8 types of banchan with your meal Service is always friendly & when Jean is around, expect that she is circulating & chatting with the patrons. FOOD: I ordered a combo, beef bulgogi and tofu soup. Bulgogi was a tender, thin slices of beef, with the right-blend of soy sauce and sweetness. I cleaned the plate! Delicious!! I highly recommend the fried drumsticks. It's probably some of the best fried chicken that I've ever had. It was juicy...yet crispy on the outside and the sauce that it was tossed and was out of this world. Very flavorful. Since this was only my second time trying Korean food I asked the server some questions because I wasn't sure what to expect. The server was very kind, they explained to me what Banchan was and how to pair it to enhance the flavor of the short ribs that I ordered. Serving sizes are large and can be shared between 2 to 3 people. Considering the serving sizes I think you get a good value for your money. Long overdue but here it goes. I came on a Sunday evening after coming from a baseball game. Needless to say, I was exhausted, thirsty and hungry lol I was immediately seated and I got lucky because 20 mins after it turned into a wait. I order the bibimbap and a side of gimbap. It was good. The food was tasty. Is it the best Korean food I've had? No. However it hit the spot. I like their choice of banchan dishes. I want to yell from the roof tops how good this place it. We had ordered twice for takeout before we had gone into the restaurant. Now we've been in at least 3x. Ordering takeout and eating it there are both great options. Our favorites are the beef bulgogi, kimchi fried rice, and the classic gimbap. The banchan that comes with most of the dishes is my daughters favorites - mine too! I love all of them and it's fun to have some snacks. I honestly had pretty low expectations coming here, and it honestly did surprise me in a good way. The food was all pretty yummy - we got bossam, galbi and tofu soup. The bossam and galbi were all pretty good, but I wouldn't recommend the tofu soup. For some reason, it just tasted like spicy water, not much depth or seafood or egg taste. The wait staff were all nice and very attentive. What caught my eye was their sign in front. It always pays to have your menu displayed. And there were a few people already in here and Korean food seem like a healthy alternative. Half of our meal was healthy. Well, maybe 2/3. All of the appetizers were of course healthy. They made pretty nice spicy and pickled veggies. And we had a fried mackerel which was delicious. It came with rice. I couldn't resist getting fried chicken wings because they were relatively inexpensive in the picture looks so good. This was probably the most unhealthy part of our lunch. We came here because we were in Livermore and wanted to eat Korean food. We ordered the Jjajang Myun and the Half Sauce Glazed Fried Chicken. The Half Sauce Glazed Fried Chicken had a great sauce glazed on it. It tasted very good! The batter was good too! The only thing I didn't like too much was that there were small bones while eating the chicken. Outwardly, you can't see the bones, but while taking a bite of the chicken and chewing, there were fragments of bones in there that I had to spit out a few times. But overall very surprising for Livermore to have a genuine place for Galbi and bibimbap! Used to this quality more in Dublin area so I'm pleasantly surprised. Came here on a Saturday evening a couple weeks ago. The place was pretty busy but we were seated quickly. Food took a long time to come out -- I think they were short-staffed, since there was only one person working the entire floor, even with some large tables of 5-6 people. Not the server's fault, but definitely a management issue. I ordered the beef bulgogi and my husband got the pork bulgogi. My beef was very dry and didn't taste marinated like beef bulgogi usually does -- honestly made me wonder if it was even freshly made. My husband's dish, on the other hand, came out nice and saucy (lucky him!), so the inconsistency was a bit suspect. I wanted to ask for sauce or mention it to the server, but he never checked on us after dropping off the food. On the positive side, my husband loved his pork bulgogi, the shrimp fried rice we shared was delicious, and the banchan (small Korean side dishes) were the saving grace -- otherwise I would've left still hungry. This place is AMAZING! My husband and I decided to try this place out on a whim tonight. The service here is great--our server was really nice. When we mentioned that we like spicy, she made sure to make our yangnyum sauce (on the side) really spicy. The Korean fried chicken was fried perfectly, the dressing on the cabbage slaw was delicious and light, and my chicken bulgogi + tofu soup combo was made to perfection. The soup came out piping hot, which is a great for dinner on a rainy night, and the chicken bulgogi was really delicious. After visiting family in the Central Valley I met with my Dad in Livermore for dinner. He raved about his time at GueZip with his coworkers and suggested we eat here. It was ideal considering they're open late since we had a late dinner! Entering the restaurant, it's clean, spacious, well lit, and the staff kindly greet you. The inside has a handful of tables for pairs or bigger parties. Loved the K-pop music playing and the K-Dramas on the screen. Reminds me of other Korean American spots in the Bay. Service by the staff was friendly and efficient, and the food came out fast. Considering they're still a new restaurant, they're doing a great job. Livermore is full of American fare so the fact GueZip is here is a move in the right direction! Glad Korean food is available here now for those to enjoy. I had the Hotstone Bibimbap with Chicken while he had the Beef Bulgogi. The banchan that came with it was tasty. My bibimbap came in a giant bowl and leftovers were needed for us both. Though the bimbimbap was good I felt like the amount of chicken was lacking as well as the other toppings. Wish there was more deliciousness so I could mix it all. Holy Sh!t was this good. I totally didn't see this coming. We stopped in here by chance and figured we'd get some take out. I love beef bulgogi and theirs was great, the big surprise was the Soy Garlic Fried Chicken. My wife ordered it and I wasn't really paying attention, they asked whether we wanted a full or a half order, we got a full order. It was beautifully packaged, a huge amount of chicken and absolutely outstanding. It was so good, I'll drive from Alamo to Livermore just to grab take out orders. Honestly? The food was a 3.5 but the service brought it up to a 4. If you're looking for a cozy and quick bite, I do recommend this place. Otherwise, not the best in terms of flavor. 1. The beef fried rice with egg was alright, your typical fried rice with a large egg laid on the top. Only reason why it gets marked down is because the vegetables have that frozen taste and texture to it, if you know, you know. 2. Their fried chicken was not bad, the fry on it was quite nice and we ate the whole thing. Only issue was that one of the chicken drum sticks had a really bad/ strong freezer burn flavor and taste, like it's been sitting at the back of an industrial freezer for at least a year. But we didn't complain because all the other pieces were fine. 3. The kimchi beef tofu soup was pretty good, best one out of all the dishes we got. They were very generous with the tofu, which I really liked. They don't have that much meat in there though, which was slightly unfortunate. Flavor wise it was good. 4. The food and service were good. The woman who helped me with my order was kind and polite. I ordered the yangyum chicken wings and the seafood pancake. They're not the best yangyum wings I've had -- the flavor was different to me (not necessarily bad -- l just not what I was expecting). Seafood pancake is a favorite of mine to get at Korean restaurants. The one I got here was good, no complaints there. I do wish they gave a little more of the dipping sauce, though, because I ran out with some pancake left. I am giving this place a 3-star because overall, it was good, but I've had better yangyum chicken wings, and also it was unexpectedly expensive. Savory marinade. Loved the grill marks and the beef was cooked perfectly. Tofu soup spicy level lll-silky tofu soup with some beef, mushrooms and zucchini wasn't too spicy. Pork Belly tofu kimchee book-eum-this was our first time trying this dish. Pork belly stir fried with kimchee and served with tofu. Intensely flavored fatty pork belly went well with the simple tofu. Crispy wings and drums-perfectly fried chicken with dipping sauce served on the side. Delicious! Banchan-loved the variety of little side dishes served We arrived for dinner at 6 and had to wait about 30 minutes. We put our name on the list and sat on the benches outside to wait. I really wanted to like this place but I didn't like the food at all. The chicken is way too fatty and greasy it was soggy not crispy like in the menu description. The batter was weird texture like tempura and had a overpowering taste of nutmeg or cinnamon.. The seafood pancake was not good IMO. It was soggy and had no flavor at all. It also came out way after our main dish when we specifically asked the waiter to bring it out before the chicken. The fish was ok, again no flavor at all but it was juicy so I'll give it one star for that and for restaurant cleanliness. read more
