After shopping at the Outlet, we decided to try this Korean restaurant just a short drive away. The place is very clean and has parking available in the complex. Service is also excellent and fast. Since it's our first time here, it took us a while to pick and choose the items we want from the menu. We ended up getting the chicken wings, tofu soup, and noodles with soft bread. The wings are crunchy and tender inside. The sauce has a nice flavor and is delicious. The Tofu soup is good and the portion is huge. It's good for a couple of people. We also liked the noodles. Delicious !! I had saved this spot for a while after seeing it open, and finally got the chance to try it on a Friday night. There were a good amount of people inside but we were still able to get seated right away, and food came out quickly too! We got the garlic fried chicken, sweet and sour pork, jajangmyeon, and seafood jjampong to share amongst the 4 of us. This was the perfect amount of food, and everything was so yummy! We all loved the chicken wings as they were coated in a really savory sauce while somehow still remaining crispy. The seafood jjampong was also super flavorful and pretty spicy for mild level. Also .. it didn't come with any rice. I guess it's not technically an entree? All the dishes were so good. I loved the texture on the noodles. They were very bouncy and had a nice chew. The sauce for the jajang was spot on. The sweet and sour pork was also very good. The pork stayed crispy and had lots of meat. The sauce was the perfect blend between sweet and sour. The raw onions also gave an extra touch. Around the area of Livermore outlets, tucked in a small plaza, you can find this hidden gem. Driving around we wanted to eat food but nothing caught our eye since majority of the restaurants were only serving dim sum. We decided randomly to go to the only spot that didn't serve dim sum and OMG WHAT A TREAT! The food was absolutely amazing, from the depth of flavor in the soup, the heartiness of the fried rice, do the tender crunch of the fried pork. I love how they had the sauce on the side so you can dip as you like without ruining the crispy texture Seafood jampong 8/10 noodles were nice and chewy and the seafood flavor was not bad, I've had better but this was still comforting Seafood pancake 8/10 this was on the thicker side, but still super crispy and flavorful Chicken wings with chili sauce 9/10 this might have been my favorite dish, the sauce was coated so well and the chicken was still crispy, def recommend This place has similar items to Paik's in Santa Clara, so if you are in the Pleasanton area, check this place out! read more

I had to try this Korean Restaurant along Pleasanton, when I saw the word Ja Jang it was already tempting. I only ordered two dishes which was their famous Ja Jang noodles and of course since I'm having Ja Jang I have to pair it with Sweet N Sour Pork, the way Korean eat the Ja Jang. Honestly I was impressed, Korean Sweet & Sour Pork are not similar to Chinese Sweet and Sour Pork, I love how crunchy and and the sauce are tangy with a hint of sweetness and the best part is the thickness of the sauce, it stay consistent it doesn't turn water like when the sauce is no longer hot which was amazing I took it home and still thick. I went on a Saturday night, and it was pretty empty which I found unusual. The plaza itself was crowded given the lines for nearby shops. Still, we were able to easily find parking nearby in the lot. The restaurant staff was very friendly. As for the food, it was okay. I found the food overall to be bland, which I assume is either the restaurant catering to local tastes or aiming for a healthier style, because the flavors lacked the richness I usually expect. To me, jajangmyeon (jajang noodles) is a dish that's usually rich and deeply savory rather than subtle. The sauce here felt really lacking in that department, and the noodles also lacked a satisfying chew. The jjamppong (seafood jampong) had a good kick of spice, but it didn't really develop much depth of flavor or umami beyond the heat. Overall, it wasn't bad, but it didn't quite deliver the bold flavors I typically expect from these dishes which I see as comfort food. read more

Tofu Stew - Same as above, not bad, but definitely single serving, if even that. Again, we are light eaters. Spicy Rice Cake - This was a fail, in our opinion. The sauce was soupy?!?! We are accustomed to a thick rich spicy sauce. Oh, and it was NOT spicy at all. Banchan - We asked if they had more and different banchans, and the manager (owner?) came out with two more different ones, see pictures. If you like very mild Korean food, this is for you. We eat Korean often and the flavors here just did not suit our taste. Atmosphere - Small local business. Plenty of mall parking. Open 6 days a week from 11am to 9pm; closed Tuesdays. They take their "lunch" break from 3pm to 4pm; so they are closed during that time. Service - 5 stars, the manager (owner?) was very friendly and welcoming. Since we were the only customers, he kind of hung out with us. Sharing his journey, his other business in Cupertino, etc. He says he is helping out a friend managing this place. SO DELICIOUS! I always order tofu soup and this has to be the best one I've ever had. It had muscles and small octopus inside the flavor is amazing packed with lots of flavor. The spicy pork is also good quality meat with good flavor. I like that they give you big portions and the soup comes out boiling hot. Our waiter France was so kind and genuine. Our order for two: garlic fried chicken, 1.5 size jajang noodle, and 2 beignets. All really good! I kept wondering: how did they make everything so fast yet still taste so fresh, high-quality and handmade?? The fried chicken had such a good flavor and the jajang noodles were a great texture. I was pleasantly surprised the beignets were so crispy but not overly sweet (including the pretty chocolate tree they drew on the plate) I also normally don't finish all the radish served but these tasted better..fresher and crispier I think? The raw onion and black bean sauce also enhanced the flavors we were already enjoying. The staff who served us clearly cared about the food and service. It was a quiet Tuesday evening with only 2-3 tables but still..really impressed with the whole experience here, including the decoration and music. Highly recommend!! read more

UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT! As a regular, the change in management is noticeable. - the yellow pickled radishes are now a lower quality store bought item instead of the previously homemade. UPDATE: adding a response to the owner saying the pickle vendor is the same by attaching a photo comparison where you can physically see the difference in quality. If it's the same vendor, I suggest the owner look into quality control. - the sweet & sour pork: the pork is drier and the sweet & sour sauce was diluted in flavor and so watery that it barely coated the pork when you dipped it. - the ja jang noodles: the black sauce has less black beans in the overall flavor profile, the noodles are different in that they're firmer and less chewy, also there's about 30-40% less provided than previously - the garlic fried shrimps most resemble the previous owners' but the coating is thicker It's not terrible but if you regularly ate here with the previous owners, you'll know that the overall quality and taste profile has noticeably dropped. If you're eating here for the first time then you might not notice that it could've been better. I'm personally sad that the authentic, warm, and personal Korean feeling is long gone. The Korean ahjummas used to warmly greet you in Korean when you arrived and left and sweetly checked up on you. Now you can tell the new servers aren't treated like family by the new management and in turn, the service is now cold. (They no longer take a mid-day break) It's unfortunate to lose such an amazing place. read more

This might as well be my favorite jajang eatery! The noodles were truly something unique and different. I've definitely have not had it before and so will trust that they made it from scratch. As someone who is gluten sensitive, I know when it's regular cheap noodles since I get IBS symptoms when I have noodles made with regular bleached American produced flour. The noodles here did not give me any of those symptoms and so it's either their way of making noodles (together with combination of other types of flour that reduced the gluten) or that they also use non-American flour. The jajang sauce was tasty. Tried both the regular and the dan jajang. If you like some crunch and partially raw onion, go with jajang noodles. If you prefer cooked onions, then go with dan jajang. Both were good and so either are good choices unless you prefer the less onion-y flavor then go with dan jajang. The sweet and sour pork was fantastic. Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. And the sweet and sour sauce to dip in, it was perfectly made - good combination of sweet and sour! So good! The restaurant was relatively loud as the night went on as more and more customers came and just before we left, it was a full house! And with multiple customers speaking Korean, you know it's legit! They seem short handed but still did their best to maintain good service. What I appreciate seeing was during our meal, a busgirl who seemed new dropped a bowl while cleaning, and the owner checked if she was ok in a gentle tone and even helped clean up. That's all heart there and that goes to show me a lot of how she runs the business which carries a lot of weight in my opinion. read more
