Service was good and servers were nice. Place was clean and organized. Food was okay- perhaps I didn't care much for our choices. Will try this place again and try other food items in the menu.

Cute little space in the plaza. Order from the app and they bring out- be careful to order from 1 mobile if there is one bill, but can order from different phones to have separate bills if needed. They can combine but can get messy if they are busy of course. Parking - shared lot, can get busy! Bathroom- looks like single occupant bathroom towards the back of kitchen. Noticed it said dogs are allowed- they are not allowed (outside of service animals) - no outdoor seating or anything. Fish quality was good! We had a variety of things- I didn't take a pic of the chirashi but it was good! The only thing I wouldn't order again is the bluefin toro uni handroll with fried bits- it tasted a little stale to me and it was served a little late as the seaweed was more on the soggy side. The downside of going when it's busy so keep that in mind~

Located in a plaza where parking can get pretty full, but if you circle around a bit you can usually find a spot. The interior decor is fun but elevated and gives the place its own personality. The servers were really nice. The highlight though: The fish here was super fresh, especially the tuna, which really stood out. Overall, the quality felt noticeably better than a lot of other sushi spots I've tried in the Bay Area. I will definitely be back :)

This unassuming restaurant located in a 2-story food building was a great find. We've walked passed by it before heading to the other restaurants but never chose it. It was our 2nd choice even today but that's going to change! We had the lunch specials: Salmon Teriyaki, Chicken Terriyaki, & Tonkatsu. We also decided to add-on the lunch special sides: tempura, salmon skin roll, & a California roll. For the price, it was an easy choce to makr. We didn't expect the sides to be full portions! The lunch plates came with miso soup, salad, & rice. I don't know how to describe it but the miso soup was super flavorful! It's the best I've had especially as part of a set meal. It set the tone for the rest of the dishes. The portions were generous for a lunch set meal & they were very delicious. The server was friendly, too. When we were selecting sides, he suggested that we choose three different items & told us his fave. He was right. This can be our next fave Japanese place. We may need to try the other sushi & sashimi items next time.

We stopped by after craving some sushi and found that they offered an omakase set that was pretty inexpensive. After looking at the menu, we decided to go for the nigiri premium set and the premium hand roll set. We also ordered the deep fried octopus legs! It was lightly deep fried with a tempura coating, and served with a slice of lemon for taste and this seasoned mayo sauce on the side. Upon arrival, we were luckily seated quite fast despite having 2 parties of 4 waiting for seats. Lucky us! The service was very attentive throughout the night as well. Overall, shinkai sushi is such a solid sushi place. It being so close to us, we'll most likely find ourselves here whenever we're craving sushi again. 5/5 for being to make your own hand rolls in their premium set!

Was in the area looking for dinner and a Tesla charger and sure enough, there is one nested right next to this sushi spot! We did have great sushi here, our only complaint was the table not getting bussed at all, and them not really returning. But, BUT, the sushi here was pretty damn good, especially the nigiri and even more specifically the tuna. They DO NOT play around with the amount of fish they stack on the nigiri, and all of the sushi was fresh and tasty. One thing I would avoid is the popcorn chicken / karaage. As great as the sushi was the karaage was admittedly tasteless, not even salt. This would benefit a ton from maybe some 5 spice.

Why 4 stars? It stinks that they repeat nigiri pieces which should never be the case. AND TWICE!! So I had 4 pieces of two fishes (that I didn't even ask for/for it to happen). Additionally, the fish had a ton of chewy tendon. Likewise it was strange that wasabi wasn't instantly included in the nigiri as this is the traditional standard in Japan... with the question of "Wasabi, OK?" Lunch sets are kind of sad... one main course, salad with heavy dressing, miso soup, and rice. There wasn't any fruit or pickles. Tonkatsu as the main course wasn't light and fluffy but instead dry and over seasoned (one can tell it's been in the fridge marinating in salt and pepper for too long). Prime set: I'm glad I ordered this instead of the standard due to the unagi roll vs California roll (although the unagi had a ton of bones). Again, disappointed with the repeated fish. Appreciate the well constructed/well mixed sushi rice and for providing fresh wasabi (which is an extra $2 on the side!). ***didn't make me sick afterwards which I tremendously appreciate*** SERVICE: hahaha my secretiveness of speaking in Mandarin was immediately broken by the server who responded in Mandarin. Service more or less attentive... definitely needed to grab ahold of their attention. Different servers were tasked with different jobs so you frequently saw someone different. AMBIENCE: Causal dining. Great for large groups (though they do start adding gratuity above a certain number of individuals) since they don't seem to kick you out if you want to sit and chat. Yes it's delicious Yes it's well constructed Yes it's ran by the Chinese and NOT the Japanese Located in a plaza with a private parking lot.

Sashimi was $45-$50 for about 20 pieces. Pretty reasonable nowadays. Quite fresh. Service was good but could be faster. The wait was 20mins-30mins for one set of 20 pieces sashimi. Ambiance was nice.

This restaurant has changed owner a few times and we used to love the Yakitori West but since they closed, the subsequent restaurants were bad. So happy that this one finally made it! The food was good and reasonably priced for lunch. Service was good and ambience was good too, conducive for socializing. Will be back for sure!

This sushi place is a cozy restaurant that is a bang for your buck. Their portion size is crazy and all the fish is served fresh! From the two times we came here (since we're coming from San Jose) we ended up eating with our eyes. The staff was nice and everything came out very fast. Usually our favorite fish would be the tuna or salmon, however the hamachi here is one of the best hamachis we ever had. It's very lean yet still juicy with no fishy aftertaste. Same goes for the tuna and salmon, both had no fishy aftertaste with a beautiful bright color to them. Both of these fish was very butter and soft. The California roll was creamy and flavorful. The size of it was HUGE. A California at any restaurant is a must for us and this is one of our favorite California rolls.

My daughter and I were looking for a good omakase to celebrate her birthday and little did we know we had one close by. I thought we would have to go to SF or SJ but when I searched online, Shinkai came up. So we tried it out and we're so happily surprised at the quality of the sashimi, nigiri and the portions that we knew we found out new "go to" for sushi in the tri-valley. The restaurant is small but there are many tables and ample free parking. The Ulferts center in Dublin has such a nice selection of restaurants and Shinkai is a gem here. They have two omakase sets and a sake flight that are such good deals. It's a great place for a casual dining experience and many families come here also. They even have black sesame ice cream! Give this place a try if you haven't already.... It can get busy but the food quality is worth the wait!

First and foremost, I want to say that I chose this place from the recommendations of my fellow yelpers. This place was amazing, and I have been here 3 times in 1 week. Lol. As soon as we walked in, we could tell that it was a little warm inside, but it was okay. If I was going to dock them a point for anything, it would have been that. However, the customer service and the quality of the food made everything worth it. I forgot all about AC once i sat down. On 3 different days, we have 3 different servers and all of them delivered impeccable service to say the very least. Our water glasses were never empty and the food was DELICIOUS. We got a little bit of everything since we couldn't make up our minds. And Shinkai DELIVERED! Everything tasted so fresh and delicious. This will be our new sushi spot! I recommend everyone try this establishment. I know you wont be disappointed! Side note: they play excellent music while you're dining! Also - get the orange ocean roll (something with the word zest in it) and the mango crunch roll thats seasonal. DELICIOUS! Oh, and ANY handball. Chefs kiss

In the mood for some sushi but couldn't bear the long wait a Kura, we found ourselves here for dinner. It's in the Ulfert's Center and we were thankful we were able to be seated immediately. It's a bit small inside but it was just fine. Between the three of us we got a chirashi don and 3 rolls- Rainbow, Salmon Salmon, and Orange Ocean. Average price these days for the rolls ($16-17) and the chirashi ($30). Overall a decent experience. The fish seemed fresh and the prices are reasonable. I just wished there was less soy sauce drizzled onto a couple of the rolls- the bottom of the roll really absorbed a lot of it and made it a bit too salty for my taste. There are other places in the area we like better for sushi but they are more expensive so this seems to be a good balance of quality and pricepoint.

As long as we started ordering during lunch hours, we have 90 minutes to finish eating from the lunch menu. Yay! Weekday AYCE Lunch ($27.99): This is quite a darn deal. Doesn't matter that sashimi, sushi apps, and short rib aren't included. You still get ALL the rolls, other apps, hibachi, nigiri, and loads more. The self serve station for a variety of salads and fruits was nice. My favorites were the salmon and tuna hand rolls, thick cuts of fish! Baked salmon roll is a classic, and I loved every roll we ordered. They also have single serving ice cream with fun flavors like lime and orange. Everything came pretty quickly besides the baked rolls and hibachi, which had an anticipated wait. The tempura was elite as another reviewer raved. The clay pot rice and chicken katsu curry rice sounded really good, but I was scared of being too full lol. I'll share it with someone next time! The space was clean and they played loudish R&B. Will be back to try AYCE dinner offerings :)

It used to be you can only join where you come near the restaurant. It must be only for busy days like Mother's Day? There was a sheet offering specials for Mother's Day, cocktails, mocktails, a kurobuta pork belly and 2 desserts. We ordered our usual fare. Great service by Ariel, she handled everything as a pro, even with the crazy business. Food came out with no delay. The only change that we noticed id the teriyaki beef. The rib eye was usually so tender and juicy, everybody that we invited here were amazed how tender and great they were. Yes, we came here quite often, and brought every and all out of town guests here. But today they were tough, on the dry side, even though cooked Rare and MediumRare. All 3 steaks. So disappointed. We finished with the Biscoff cookie sundae, which they had for Valentine, a tempura fried ice cream dessert with crumbles of Biscoff cookies and caramel drizzles. So good. The room was busy with laughter and guests enjoying the food and company on this holiday.

The fried oysters were also a great size and came with two dipping sauces, which was a nice touch. The maze ramen was a big portion and even my toddler enjoyed it. The standout for me was the tempura ice cream--perfectly crisp with a thin, light shell. Service: Our server was friendly, efficient, and very accommodating. However, the host experience was frustrating. The Yelp waitlist wasn't working on a busy Friday night, which seemed to cause some disorganization. We were quoted a 25-minute wait for a party of three, but ended up waiting 45 minutes. During that time, multiple parties of three who arrived after us were seated first. When I checked in at 35 minutes, I was told we were "next," but that didn't seem to reflect what was happening. At 45 minutes, after checking again and explaining how long we'd been waiting, we were seated immediately. It was confusing and especially difficult with a hungry toddler. Parking: Parking can be tricky. The restaurant is located under an apartment complex with limited guest spots on the first floor of the garage. If it's full, you'll have to exit and find street parking (which is minimal) or park across Dublin Blvd and walk. Overall: This was close to a perfect experience. The food and server were great, but the disorganized wait and host interaction took away from it. Hopefully they improve their system for busy nights, especially if the Yelp waitlist goes down again.

I came in around 6pm and when I walked in there was 1 other table there and not busy. I would say it's a small spot that seats less than 50 people but it was nice and clean. I decided to get two rolls and a 6 piece nigiri that comes with a hand roll. Gorilla Roll - 9/10. I'm always a sucker for seared rolls. The salmon being seared gives it extra sweetness and the siracha mayo actually had a nice kick it to it and wasn't just sweet. The fried shallots on top added nice texture being crunchy with extra flavor. This was my favorite roll. Rosewood Roll - 8/10. You can taste that the fish is fresh. If you like salmon and tuna I would get this roll. What I liked about it as well was the spicy crab on top which carried a small amount of spice but adds to the flavor. Moriwase - 9/10. It comes with 6 nigiri and a hand roll. Again the fish is fresh and has good flavor. The portion was normal, definitely not small. The nigiri comes with a brush of soy sauce so no need to dip, but feel free to. I just wish it had some more wasabi cause I didn't taste any. It came with a spicy tuna hand roll which I liked a lot because it had a good kick. Service was great even though I was the only one in there after the table before me left but the lady was very nice and attentive. She even offered some home made dessert that was packaged in a cute box after having some small convo. I talked to the sushi chef and he's been making sushi for over 15 years and I could tell that he puts some passion in his craft. He told me everyone says the fish is fresh but he really tries to make the flavor known which I think he executed well. They also get their fish flown/delivered on Tuesdays/Thursday. If you're in the area I would recommend trying this spot. It's definitely a safe option and I'll be coming back to try the other items.

That said, phone sounds blasting from the kitchen does seem a bridge too far for me personally. It's just not professional and totally kills the possibility of an enjoyable meal. Service was friendly, but on the slow side. The atmosphere is super informal, featuring posters of food that is not actually on the menu. Food wise, it was OK. The miso soup was pretty expensive. The best dish by far was the futo-maki roll. Really good flavor for a vegetarian roll. The 'fresh crab' in the other roll we ordered was not good. Rice being IMO the most important element in sushi was executed well, but my chirashi had all the fish served fridge cold and with pretty rough, haphazard cuts. For the overall price of the experience, it just doesn't seem worth it.
