Combo C1 - Cali roll and all salmon sashimi
Ranet L.

Stumbled upon this Japanese restaurant Went for an early dinner Food are fresh, delicious and affordable Service was great and very attentive Place is clean and comfortable Will definitely stop by again when I'm in the area

Good size f the meal.... See how big those California rolls were; and they tasted freshly made.

I ordered from the weekday lunch menu (which isn't available from the web site) to go. It was basically the sushi combo (with 5 pieces) and a choice of side dish, which I chose the California roll. The highlights are: 1. The fish slices are thick, and felt very fresh (note that I am not an expert), but they felt fresh for me. 2. The California rolls were surprisingly large AND most important of all tasted "fresh"; not like something that came out of a refrigerator (cold + "hard").

The lunch sushi set I ordered was only $15 + $2 for spicy tuna roll. It is a good deal. The sushi is fresh and the portion is generous. Not a fancy place though. If the presentation of the sushi set can improve, I will give Torarenbou 5 stars. Overall, I highly recommend Torarenbou for lunch. Give it a try if you are around the area.

Service was attentive and quick. Ambiance is casual and comfortable. Food was very affordable, $12 for lunch specials, and $20 for Chirashi. +$2 to add Spicy Tuna roll to the lunch specials. Will definitely come again to try other dishes. What a pleasant surprise.

Such a cute little sushi restaurant tucked away in this plaza. We've seen the sign but didn't realize it's a sushi restaurant until we looked it up on Yelp. The value and the food always been pretty good. My kids enjoy coming here every so often. Sometimes can take a bit long to get our food so it's not a quick snack and go for us... we've only tried sushi orders so far but will be back to try dinner entrees in the future.

My family and I came here for their lunch special. It was $13 during the week and it was super yummy and delicious with big portions. You cannot beat the price and amount of food. We are always immediately greeted at the door by the sushi chefs and waitress. They are so welcoming to me and my family all the time. They are very attentive and make sure to address any needs we have. I ordered the salmon teriyaki with California roll combo. It came with miso soup, rice, veggie tempura, and salad. The salmon teriyaki was tender and flavorful with teriyaki sauce! I definitely will come back during lunch and I am interested in trying their other menu items.

We checked this place out even though it's always been at this specific location for as long as I can remember. I would like to say that this place is decent for their affordability with quality sushi! It's fairly small inside and not much seating (around 7 tables + a few bar seating). From my understanding, it seems like they are still in the process of renovating the restaurant. Their menu has no pictures and everything was just typed out of a printed sheet of paper. Service was great - water refills, repeated back our orders, attentive. This place is one of my top spots for dates (I'll be coming back) and quick fix for sushi for sure! Chirashi Don ($20) - LOVED the sushi rice and comes with miso soup! This came with 3 pieces of salmon, 3 pieces of tuna, 3 pieces of yellowtail, Tamago, 3 pieces of Mutsu, shrimp, and Aji(?). Fresh, thick slices - worth the price for sure. Dragon Roll ($13) -Inside only has shrimp tempera but it was fried to perfection. Super crispy. This roll is topped with avocado, eel, eel sauce, and masago. We were satisfied with this one. Lion King ($12) - Since it's baked, it was the last one that came out. This roll was a little smaller but mayo with salmon was baked great. The inside has avocado and imitation crab. It was okay - I wish it was crab mix on the inside rather than a crab stick. Shiitake Mushroom ($3) - a little burnt but still flavorful.

It used to be you can only join where you come near the restaurant. It must be only for busy days like Mother's Day? There was a sheet offering specials for Mother's Day, cocktails, mocktails, a kurobuta pork belly and 2 desserts. We ordered our usual fare. Great service by Ariel, she handled everything as a pro, even with the crazy business. Food came out with no delay. The only change that we noticed id the teriyaki beef. The rib eye was usually so tender and juicy, everybody that we invited here were amazed how tender and great they were. Yes, we came here quite often, and brought every and all out of town guests here. But today they were tough, on the dry side, even though cooked Rare and MediumRare. All 3 steaks. So disappointed. We finished with the Biscoff cookie sundae, which they had for Valentine, a tempura fried ice cream dessert with crumbles of Biscoff cookies and caramel drizzles. So good. The room was busy with laughter and guests enjoying the food and company on this holiday.

Food: Everything we ordered was generous in portion and…read moreworth the price. The sushi rolls were large and filling. The fried oysters were also a great size and came with two dipping sauces, which was a nice touch. The maze ramen was a big portion and even my toddler enjoyed it. The standout for me was the tempura ice cream--perfectly crisp with a thin, light shell. Service: Our server was friendly, efficient, and very accommodating. However, the host experience was frustrating. The Yelp waitlist wasn't working on a busy Friday night, which seemed to cause some disorganization. We were quoted a 25-minute wait for a party of three, but ended up waiting 45 minutes. During that time, multiple parties of three who arrived after us were seated first. When I checked in at 35 minutes, I was told we were "next," but that didn't seem to reflect what was happening. At 45 minutes, after checking again and explaining how long we'd been waiting, we were seated immediately. It was confusing and especially difficult with a hungry toddler. Parking: Parking can be tricky. The restaurant is located under an apartment complex with limited guest spots on the first floor of the garage. If it's full, you'll have to exit and find street parking (which is minimal) or park across Dublin Blvd and walk. Overall: This was close to a perfect experience. The food and server were great, but the disorganized wait and host interaction took away from it. Hopefully they improve their system for busy nights, especially if the Yelp waitlist goes down again.

Shinkai does-- automatic plus for me. I ordered the Sushi Crafter Box and salivated as it being walked over to my table. It looked so satisfying that I didn't even want to dig in. But of course I had to. It was incredible! I normally don't love fatty tuna because the texture can be inconsistent and veiny but it was soft and not veiny at all! My fiance ordered 2 rolls, and a sashimi appetizer and loved it all. We were able to share everything we ordered and both left very satisfied. The service was fantastic, waters being refilled without having to ask and the restaurant was clean. It is a bit small unfortunately but that's just to say, expect wait times!

Flavors and seasoning all balanced well, they put shiso leaf bits in between under the typically gamier fish and rice. Savory roe bits dot the top of some of the stronger tasting fishes. And 8pc were only $40. Salmon rolls (salmon salmon) and (orange ocean) were both good. Nice citrus hit in orange ocean but doesn't overpower - salmon salmon roll had good crisp and umami from the fried skin. The sashimi platter was solid - nothing that blew my mind but it was pretty good quality fish, only minor complaint was it was cut into oddly shaped chunks and not consistent in texture between each bite Also they gave a LOT of plum wine, not skimpy at all!

I tend to shop nearby and have seen the restaurant but haven't been in the area during lunchtime until today. I did learn they also have lunch specials on Saturdays too, so I will be back with my husband next time. I walked in and ordered, and the lady was so nice and welcoming. My order was packed and ready to go without much of a wait, which was nice. It didn't take long, so it's very helpful for people on a time crunch. I got the 3 item bento box with katsu chicken, California roll, and sashimi. It also came with miso soup, salad, and rice. I got it to go, so I was happy the soup was included because I notice some restaurants don't always include soup on togo orders. The katsu chicken was light and seasoned nicely, and the katsu sauce tasted a little different than normal, so maybe it's freshly made. I wasn't a fan of the California roll only because I am not a fan of the whole roll chunks of imitation crab meat but it wasn't a full deal breaker. The sashimi tasted fresh with a nice, soft, buttery texture. I still think about their sashimi at times, it's up there with some of the best pieces of fish I've eaten.

My wife liked the flavor of the sukiyaki and the ingredients. My son's wife had a sashimi donburi with fresh fish and my son went with a three item bento beef teriyaki, mixed tempura and three piece nigiri. He said the Nigiri was fresh, tempura was fried nicely, not oily and the tempura was tasty. The Miso soup and salad were fresh and tasty. We will definitely go back. It's just not professional and totally kills the possibility of an enjoyable meal. Service was friendly, but on the slow side. The atmosphere is super informal, featuring posters of food that is not actually on the menu. Food wise, it was OK. The miso soup was pretty expensive. The best dish by far was the futo-maki roll. Really good flavor for a vegetarian roll. The 'fresh crab' in the other roll we ordered was not good. Rice being IMO the most important element in sushi was executed well, but my chirashi had all the fish served fridge cold and with pretty rough, haphazard cuts. For the overall price of the experience, it just doesn't seem worth it.
