Holy mackerel came here with the wife while visiting family in Livermore. The fish was incredibly fresh, and every roll we ordered was packed with flavor and beautifully presented. We had the Kiseki Special and the 49ers. My personal favorite was the 49ers. The food was well prepared and not drowned in sauce. Service overall was okay it wasn't the best but they seemed a little understaffed as it seemed as if there was only one server so it makes sense. The service was just a bit slow and they didn't check up on us and we had to call them over but the waitresses was very nice and I wouldn't say it impacted our meal greatly. The restaurant was clean and seemed well maintained it was pretty big, the lighting was pretty dim making it a great late night sushi date spot. The Wife wanted her usual for Mother's Day dinner, but has been disappointed lately by Roppongi's tempura veggies. Kiseki's offering was well cooked, and a bigger portion to boot. The miso soup tasted like every place else, but the salad dressing was too vinegary for her to finish. The sushi prices were fairly high, so I just got one roll, the Vasco. Lovely presentation, and enough food for me (along with finishing The Wife's soup and salad). Service was fine, but I'm glad we got there early, as things picked up and got slower later. The space is quite simple, nothing fancy, but clean, and they have table service. Again, pricier than I would have liked, somif Roppongi can fix their issue, we'd prefer to go there, especially during happy hour. read more

Looking for our next go-to Japanese restaurant and we landed here. This is in a nice little plaza with plenty of parking. There was also plenty of tables inside. The decor was nice and fun. We were seated and served immediately and our food came shortly after. Also, it was a weekday night so it wasn't too busy. We got some hand rolls and bentos so we can try a lot of items. I also got this pretty purple lemonade which I am guessing has blue pea flower tea in it to make the color vibrant purple. The handrolls were okay. I wasn't expecting the tuna to be cooked on the outside was hoping for a nice raw piece. The salmon handroll was better. Our bento was good, nice portion of things and I did enjoy everything in the bento. For someone who is entirely too spoiled with Japanese food, unfortunately this place did not hit the marks for me. I think we came on an off day - there was no sushi available, so maybe the sushi chef called in sick? There was only one guy working who apparently was the host, waiter, server, bus person, and handled any to-go orders. There seemed to be one cook in the kitchen. We decided to give the other menu items a try since we were already there and we were encouraged by the great reviews. Alas, their udon, tempura, and salmon teriyaki were just average, and the chicken katsu was dry and bland, and we did not care for their katsu sauce. I could have sworn the katsu on the bottom was tonkatsu, which I did not order, but regardless, it doesn't say much for the food if you can't tell if it's dry chicken or pork! I've been here like 6 or 7 times and usually had the Spicy Miso or Shoryu Ramen, and they're always fantastic but THE COCONUT CURRY RAMEN omg. 10/10 I literally texted two of my friends to tell them how good this ramen was. The electricity went out before we came to dine here, and we were very appreciative of the owner who accommodated us and decided to keep the kitchen open, and we are able to eat their sushi and their premade food. The owner and his head server who I assume is his wife is very kind Dragon roll $18, is one of the top rolls. 7/5 Caterpillar $18 also good 5/5, and the Bengal 5/5 thank you did not disappoint. Their plating is beautiful. They brought a lush salad, overflowing, and a beautiful wooden bowl for curry with rice (an affordable $10) Really nice owner and server, great service and accommodation. Went here last Saturday for dinner and got the Spicy Miso Ramen with a soft boiled egg. The server was great and food came out decently fast. Had a quick lunch here at Kiseki one weekday afternoon. Just a quick in and out: I had their Potato Croquet and Mayu Ramen. Food came fairly quickly with the croquet coming in first. It was pleasantly delicious, with a nice crunchy outside and soft creamy potato inside. Served with a salad, it was a good appetizer for the ramen. The Mayu Ramen though, was just alright. Chasiu pork was good the the broth could use a little more spruce. Not much of the garlic flavor and needed some egg which my ramen did not have. read more

I've been here a couple times for lunch and dinner. Lunch: I picked one of their ramens and the broth was delicious. The pork had a nice char to it, you could really taste like that flame broiled taste. Dinner: -Okonomiyaki - not the best I've had but does in a pinch. -Japanese curry w/shrimp tempura - the curry could've been warmer in temperature. the curry flavor was a bit on the light side, and I could tell by the color too. I like my curry packed with flavor and this was lacking a bit. The shrimp tempura was tasty. I had to ask for the tempura sauce, and that was much better. -Japanese curry w/chicken katsu - the chicken katsu was crunchy, but the flavor was a bit bland for me. Had to ask for the katsu sauce on the side and that seemed to help w/the flavoring. Service during lunch was better in that our waters were refilled without asking and server came around just the right amount of times. W/the water re-fills, allowed the opportunity to ask for other things needed. Same server during dinner, same amount of customers as lunch, and the service wasn't that great and not checked on, waters not refilled. Nice atmosphere with chill acoustic music and the staff were very attentive. Miso Ramen ($16) - I loved the broth, it was incredibly flavorful and full of depth. The noodles were nice and chewy and the pork tasted great. However I wasn't a big fan of the other toppings it came with - the bamboo was thick and chewy, the fish cake was really fishy, and the mushrooms were chewy and had a strong flavor. Overall I felt like the flavor of the toppings were fishy and didn't really go with the broth. Also disappointing that it didn't include an egg. read more

We've been to Kiseki a few times now and each time we've had a different experience. The service, while generally good, leaves something to be missed. There's only two ladies running the restaurant - regardless if there's only a couple guests or a full restaurant. It's easy for them to overlook your table and forget to stop by. It's also tough when they first take orders from tables that came after you, so your order goes to the kitchen last. Finally, the order with which they bring out the dishes is not consistent. Sometimes we get our starter first and have time to enjoy that before mains come out. Sometimes they bring everything out all at once and you don't get to enjoy each item as much. My favorite thing that brings us back is that the sushi has been consistently awesome. It's fresh with great flavor, and the presentation is fantastic. 5/5 for the sushi. Most of their other menu items have been a hit or miss for us. The teriyaki chicken isn't coated in teriyaki sauce, they only give sauce on the side so the teriyaki flavor is an afterthought. The miso and mayu ramen lack all flavor. Also I can't fathom that they charge $3 additional for one soft-boiled egg. The chicken katsu rice plate tastes good but was so overfilled that the sauce was spilling over the edge of the plate. On our most recent visit, our go-to garlic edamame was mostly oil and hardly any garlic. I would say Kiseki is a must-visit for the sushi alone. The other dishes you can get tastier elsewhere. Kiseki is a bit pricey, so it's underwhelming paying a lot for a meal you're not fully satisfied with. read more

The sushi here was amazing! We came here for lunch one day on the suggestion of a local and I'm so glad we did! I got the poke bowl (pictured) and it was really more of a chirashi with things you don't normally find in a chirashi rather than a poke bowl. That was alright though because all of the fish was very fresh and quite tasty. They weren't very crowded that day but they were pretty slow and we really didn't get much feedback on how long it would be. Getting our checks took even longer so a bit of a drawback there since it was a lunch in between some work meetings so we had to hustle back. Like many of the places in the area it sits in what is more or less a strip mall with a lot of other little shops and restaurants. Despite the delay, I will definitely be back for the food, but I may consider carry out instead. read more

We came due to a friend's recommendation on their chirashi but with disappointment chirashi is only offer on Fri, Sat. and Sun. The staff told me they want to keep the fish fresh so on other weekdays, they only serve salmon and spicy tuna.I got the sake don and the chef was able to make it half salmon and half spicy tuna for me. It was good. Fish quality is fresh. We also got the Bento set B CA Roll with Ton Katsu and Salmon Sashimi. Portion size does meet the price of $25. Service was good. The only thing that was uncomfortable was the air conditioning was not on and they had the door open. There were only 3 tables at the time of our visit and it was kind of hot inside already. We've wanted to visit Kiseki since we enjoyed their Judge's Best award pairing with Sakura Winery and Kiseki at Taste Livermore 2024. It was worth the wait. The menu has many choices, so we relied on our server to assist with our order. We started with the Fuzzy Morning. We were amazed at how finely the potatoes topping the roll were shredded. Between the four of us, not a morsel was left on the plate. We enjoyed a bottle of the award-winning pairing of Sakura Rose and the seaweed wrap appetizer of poke bites with a creamy or slightly spicy poke sauce (not on the menu, but the manager, Paul Srirattana, was very accommodating.) We followed with a 12-piece sashimi bowl and the grilled beef with a house-made spicy tamarind sauce, and finally a Dragon Roll. Everything was fresh and delicious. Paul suggested a Sakura's Aphelion Cabernet Sauvignon not yet on the menu. It paired perfectly with our dishes. All the dishes were artfully presented. The restaurant was filled with people waiting outside. We never felt rushed and felt we received personal attention from the staff. We will be back to explore more of the menu. read more

Originally went here a couple months ago for a Yelp event, but decided to come back and try non-curated items on their menu. We came here per the recommendation of a coworker who LOVED the veggie tempura ramen, so everyone in our party got a ramen to try it. We also ordered some tempura vegetables on the side. First of all, service and ambiance in here is great! I've said this in previous reviews, but my service metric is if the tables water glasses are kept full, and they were. Food was delivered quickly after ordering, and let me just say: DELICIOUS. Tempura vegetables are large, so i love when I can bite into them and it comes off in clean bites, and this one did. Easy to eat without having to shove the whole thing in your mouth. The ramen was delicious. Well sized portions and not over priced ($13 to $18 per bowl depending on what you order). I personally ordered the Shio Ramen which was delicious- they accidentally used the wrong type of broth, but were super apologetic and gave me free sides to compensate. Saw Kiseki was listed #71 on Yelp's top 100 ramen in CA. I remember having ramen there years ago, but didn't remember much. Thus, came back to try again. This time I finally couldn't resist and ordered the Asahi draft beer. Really difficult for me to pass up draft beer with Japanese food. They just pair so well together. lol My friend and I shared a sashimi bowl. It was beautifully arranged. Good to have avocado slices in there. Oh, and the salmon pieces were on the orange slices which imparted a hint of orange. I thought that was great. Sashimi pieces were fresh - no complaints about this item. I had Black Garlic years ago, but it wasn't listed on the menu this time. I decided to get Shoyu Ramen with an Onsen Egg (Poached Egg). I really wanted an aji egg (soft boiled egg), but I wanted to try something different. The broth was a bit weak. I was a bit disappointed. I tasted my friend's shio ramen broth, it had even less flavor. The noodles had a good chewiness to it. The poached egg was a little runny, which was to my liking, but overall, this was probably a 2.5 out of 5. I must say that the sashimi was much better than the ramen. In my previous experience, I greatly enjoyed their sashimi and sushi as well. I would come back for those items, but as ramen snobs, my friend and I would not order ramen there again. Tried this place for the first time for lunch today! We got the Mayu Ramen with an added egg and Yakitori with beef and one with pork. The soft boiled egg was perfectly poached, and the noodles had a really nice texture. Really good presentation of the ramen! However I wished it had more umami flavor as I have tried ramen plenty of times before that was more rich. We loved the yakitori with beef but we thought the pork one was kind of dry. We've been eating here for years. Sadly, their chirashi bowl has been seriously downgraded. They've made the dish much smaller and removed the sweet shrimp or amaebi. The bowl is chock full of random fillers--presumably to lower costs--like three orange slices, half an avocado, raw radish slices, and raw carrot sticks. The price has increased to $35, which wouldn't bother me at all if the quality didn't drop precipitously at the same time. Nice people but food doesn't necessarily seem worth the stop anymore. The fried items such as the baby octopus were greasy and stale, perhaps overcooked. The batter seemed off, taste wise and looks wise. The tempura batter was thick and almost chewy. I enjoyed the chirashi don. I was surprised it included amaebi with the head deep fried and was confused when I was told by the server that it did not come with the heads deep fried if I ordered them as sashimi. So strange. I felt the service could use more improvement as it was slow and inattentive. First and foremost, service was could use some serious improvements. The basics were neglected as soon as we're seated, from menus to utensils and water. There was a small group hosting some sort of gift exchange, and so it seemed like the staff and manager (?) were occupied with them... despite the restaurant having about ten tables and two of them having customers. I came for dinner with family, so we were chatting and luckily had time to spare. Otherwise this would have been quite a different experience. The place had traditional decor and wallpaper, to invoke the feeling of dining in a foreign country. Furnishings were updated and clean, modernized to cater to the western dining areas. Four people shared several items, some not pictured, and the fifth ordered a vegetarian dish for herself. We appreciate Japanese restaurants in the States, especially izakayas, for their extensive and diverse menus. Among the items we ordered were garlic edamame, hamachi kama, okonomiyaki, unadon, nigiri tasting, and one of their specialty rolls. The fish was fresh and flavorful! Surprisingly did not taste like much was frozen, everything was the right texture and temperature. The nigiri tasting came with a variety, ranging from fried spotted prawn to raw ikura (salmon eggs). Their wasabi was definitely good, and not the usual horseradish mixture. The unagi on the don and hamachi kama were not overcooked, each coming with their own yummy sauce.
