This is going to be one of our top sushi places. Bamboo's website pushes their sustainability goals along with Monterey Aquarium, MSC and several other certifications. We have been spoiled by our fish purveyor that really liked Back Glory Bay and Ora King Salmon from New Zealand. Both of these are sustainably farmed and are sushi grade. Bamboo is one of the few places I have found that states how they source their fish. Our server was friendly and asked regularly how we were doing. They were busy tonight and the only place we could get was the sushi bar which is always fun when you can talk with the chef especially when the chef knew what they were doing (Brent). My wife's take was the salmon sushi was the best she had tasted. The restaurant had a nice layout with a fun vibe. We recommend Bamboo sushi and will be back. The service was great our waitresses and servers were really personable and attentive. The place has interesting smell to it but it's not fishy it something else that kinda threw me off but other than that ambiance was very welcoming. Perfect lighting on a summer day i definitely wanna come back and try more things. Price wise I think you get very nice presentation for same price as other sushi places. They also have allergen warnings on their menus and accommodate for no cross contamination. 8.5/10 I'm looking forward to trying more! Also I notice they give room temperature water out which Im not used too. I'm not from area so I was wondering is that's a local thing but I thought worth mentioning. Talk about some awesome signature sushi rolls. The Rivers and Streams with truffle sauce was so unique. I do love the location and the food is always fantastic. $20 a roll is up there but it never disappoints. I just wish they had a lunch special to choose from. At first, I didn't think I would find many options as a vegetarian in this restaurant but I'm glad I was proved wrong! Located in the upper level of the Lot, this place feels slightly upscale and elevated, good for a date or birthday. There are plenty of alcoholic options on the menu including hot and cold sake, and even sake flights. I tried the balsamic-type oyster mushroom appetizer, which was interesting but too sweet to enjoy. The vegetarian roll was delicious and the yuzu/lemon zing made it so memorable. The crispy tofu was saucy and sweet, aided by a side of their house crispy garlic chili sauce, and filling. I would definitely go back to try the latter two options. read more

We were lucky enough to dine here during Restaurant Week and tried the menu. I remember passing by this spot when visiting Portland and didn't get to try it so happy it's in San Ramon! Ambiance is nice and modern- we had to wait a bit for our table and glad we got a spacious area in the back with our toddler. It was busy and our server was very knowledgeable and nice but he got a bit slammed and I had to request water refills multiple times. Quality of the food was good- fish was fresh, rolls were creative, wagyu burger was tasty, and the restaurant week menu was a good deal given the original higher priced menu. If you're in the San Ramon/Dublin area and haven't been to Bamboo Sushi yet, you're seriously missing out. This place has quickly become one of my go-to spots. The vibe fits right in with City Center clean, modern, but still relaxed enough where you don't feel out of place coming in after a long day. It's great for a date night or even just grabbing dinner after running errands nearby. The sushi is consistently fresh and super high quality. You can tell they care about what they're serving. The rolls are creative without trying too hard, and everything we ordered from nigiri to specialty rolls was on point. Definitely recommend asking for suggestions if you're not sure what to get. Service has always been solid too friendly, quick, and actually attentive. Big plus for being sustainability focused as well. It's nice supporting a spot that's doing things the right way. The host and waitress I had tonight was excellent! Very kind and efficient staff, I had a problem with my water and it got swapped out immediately. 10/10 for service and hospitality. Got the Setto tonight which comes with 6 pc nigiri + 9 pc sashimi -- 5/5 This was very tasty, especially the salmon sashimi, salmon and octopus nigiri, wonderfully done. Spicy tuna crispy rice -- 5/5 Tasty treat, crispy exterior and soft inside, good portion and flavor for spicy tuna topping. Salmon hosomaki roll -- 3/5 Just the standard salmon sashimi wrapped in rice and seaweed, it's okay. Green machine -- 5/5 This is the best vegetarian roll I've ever had, so yummy! Sunset roll -- 3/5 Tasted just like the tuna crispy rice topping, not too exciting. They also serve a salad at the beginning and that was really refreshing! 5/5 Water -- 2/5 Tasted like detergent, got a new water and it tasted just like tap, some restaurants water is better than others, this is probably the worst thing I had tonight; but if you don't care about the water, Bamboo is fantastic. San Ramon-This place has been a favorite for several years, mainly because they are gluten & dairy free. This is a HUGE plus for my two besties. We started with the tempura veggies. Light and fluffy, they were chef's kiss! Rolls-Rivers & Streams, Full Circle, and Garden of Eden. WOOHOO! We were in SUSHI Heaven!! The kids, husband, and I were at this area in San Ramon one evening and decided to stop by Bamboo Sushi for dinner. They didn't have any tables for us at first since they were reserved, but I put my info down on the waiting list, and they called about an hour later saying our table is ready. While waiting, we did some shopping and walked around the center. Nice interior and good space, fairly large-ish Japanese restaurant in comparison to many others around the area. We were seated toward the back, and it felt pretty comfortable, and we got to see outside through the window. They had a kids menu, and our son ordered from that, along with a side of broccoli. They didn't deliver on that until we mentioned it, and they brought the broccoli along with the check, near the time we were about done with dinner. Other than that, my son was OK with the food. He enjoyed the chicken and California roll. Overall, the prices don't quite match with the taste and quality of the food. I ordered a roll and their maitake mushroom appetizer, and both were just OK. the mushroom was a bit mushier than anticipated, and the flavoring was watered down. Maitake can be sooooo delicious, but this one missed the mark. The rainbow roll I tried was just alright. Fish quality wasn't the best, and I was expecting more for a roll over $20. The husband got their burger, and it came with chips. The kids enjoyed the chips, and the husband thought the burger was alright. Our daughter tried their miso glazed black cod since she's usually good with cooked fish and she likes miso, but somehow this dish was a huge turnoff for her. I ended up eating most of it just to help her out and that it doesn't go to waste. It wasn't the best miso black cod I've had, but it wasn't as terrible as my daughter claimed for it to be. We ended the meal with their black sesame brownie. It was pretty good for what it was, but if advertising black sesame, I'd thought there would be that ice cream as opposed to vanilla, but the flavors did work out really well together. Drinks were decent here, and I can see myself coming back here to try happy hour, if I was closer. Overall, would come back, but wouldn't be my first choice for a sushi and such. read more

Found this place during the San Francisco Giants Fan Fest. We had an absolutely wonderful experience at Bamboo Sushi - City Center Bishop Ranch, and it was truly made exceptional by both the people and the food. Sushi Chef Ben gave us outstanding customer service. He didn't just prepare sushi, he built a genuine rapport with us. We had a great conversation, and his energy was warm, enduring, and incredibly friendly. You can feel the care and pride he puts into his craft, and the sushi he served was a true masterpiece. Absolutely delicious, easily some of the best sushi I've had in a long time. Our server, Laura Lina, was equally amazing. She was attentive, kind, and made sure we were well taken care of throughout the meal. I was also pleasantly surprised to learn that I could actually enjoy tempura since Bamboo Sushi is a predominantly gluten-free restaurant. My husband has celiac disease, so finding a place where we can both eat comfortably and confidently is huge for us. This made the experience even more special. Between the incredible food, the thoughtful gluten-free options, and the top-tier service, this was an all-around fantastic experience. We will definitely be coming back. I ordered the chirashi and was shook by how terrible the quality of the fish and rice were. None of it tasted fresh--every piece was dry, and several had a fishy flavor. The salmon was unusual; it had the texture of smoke salmon which is so off for a chirashi bowl. The crab pieces tasted like saltwater. The only item that felt acceptable was the ikura (salmon roe). The rice was also a huge letdown. It lacked seasoning and needed much more rice vinegar and mirin for proper flavor. This was easily the worst chirashi and sushi I've ever had. Also tried the wagyu burger, which was very underseasoned. It lacked salt and we needed to add it in order for it to have some flavor. Service was great, but to call this sushi is honestly offensive. read more

First time visit for me here on a colder than I care for pre-Christmas early night. This nice decore bar and open seating location on the second floor has a "fusion sushi" menu. So as a sushi traditionalist that was just hungry we decided to stay and try it. I bypassed most of the untypical named items and spent some time looking for Unagi which I was told they didnt have. I ordered a sashimi plate of lean tuna that was in a lite vinigar. Very unusual but worth stretching my pallet. Wouldn't order it again but worth the try. The spicy tuna roll was not spicy but nicely presented. I ordered something that was off the untradtional side of the menue that had something tempura fried in the middle which was a good texture combination but after the second bite I would not finish the roll because of the eminsity of mustard along side of and on the item. I've never had mustard and Japanes food. Two sour dishes was too much. To drink I had the most perfect Old Fashion that I had in months so I I ensured I told the young waitress that "the 20% was for her and the bartender". The fact that we did not get our garden salad before the meal and that after tasting two bites of my partners tempura vegetables and transferring enough oil to stain my cloth napkin I have to give the rating that is earned. This is a "to go" establishment as well as a sit down location which I am sure where they make most of there money but I suggest you not accept the side door that they take there catering out of. Sitting between that and a bus station for dishes and the sort made me feel "back of the bus". I decided not to include my oily cloth napkin because they took off the mustard dish and the salad. This is a local place that dosent stand out in the crowd based on the take out orders that was going out and in behind me seems popular. I wish them continued success. read more

Walked in around 6pm on a Friday and the restaurant was pretty empty. Asked if we could sit anywhere and the hostess rudely responded no, that all the tables were reserved. She escorted us to the bar where it's open seating. We ordered the salmon entree which had fantastic flavor, and the miso cod which was nice as well. Can't remember the name of the sushi roll we ordered, but our server said it was a local favorite. Food came out fast, but unfortunately the hostess/server never gave us any utensils, napkins or plates so we had to ask a couple times, they apologized for the oversight. We asked our server for the bill, and said she'd be right back with it...20 min later still standing at the end of the bar talking to some people, guess she forgot. We had to ask the bartender to help get our bill, finally our server came over to our side and we were able to pay after 30 min waiting. My tempura roll was salty, that's before putting soy sauce, the roll didn't hold up as you eat with chopsticks. Seems like the rice was blended or chopped or something before being cooked because it was mushy, my hubby mentioned the same thing w his dragon roll. . The ambiance was more modern. Bamboo Sushi isn't my favorite spot to get sushi but its always quick and easy when you're at City Center Bishop Ranch. They have unique dishes with vibrant flavors at a higher price point. I do love their miso caesar salad toppped with rice crackers, its a large portion and perfect to share. The sea bream tiradito had a good amount of sea bream sashimi in the plate surrounded by a vibrant spicy sauce that I really enjoyed. It's a really cute, modern space with a chill vibe and a solid cocktail selection--great spot if you're just looking to grab a drink and a light bite. Service was okay--not bad, not amazing. Everyone was polite and the basics were covered, but nothing stood out. We ordered the spicy edamame, calamari, the rainbow roll, tuna nigiri, bamboo dragon roll, and the triple sorbet. This is my daughter's favorite restaurant. She loves their crispy rice with avocado, their avocado rolls, and the crispy cauliflower. Our favorites are the chopped salad, little island roll and their tempura, particularly the broccoli. We've also had the green machine, inari, tofu, fried rice, mushroom karaage and grilled avocado. Came here earlier tonight, party of 2, weeknight for dinner around 6:30 pm, no reservations. Our order: 3 nigiris (amberjack, coho salmon, seared king salmon - all give or take $10 each), the citrus salmon crispy rice ($16), the chargrilled octopus ($26), and the wagyu burger with egg ($23) medium rare. Total was $104 before tip. Pros: - This is one of the restaurants on Resy, so it's a great option to use your quarterly Amex platinum $100 credit! (that's what we did and it made the experience a lot better for us in my opinion haha) - Pretty fast and quick service, from the hostess who sat us and the servers. I have heard that this experience may be different on a weekend (and we did come early enough to beat the dinner rush) - I would recommend a reservation on the weekend. They kept our waters filled the whole time and checked in on us the right number of times - My favorites were the amberjack nigiri, and the sauce that the octopus dishes came with! It actually paired really well with the chips that come with the wagyu burger. The amberjack flavor was really unique and the fish was really tender, and the octopus also had a really great texture with great sauce - this octopus almost felt on par with octopus in Greece! - A more upscale vibe inside - perfect for date night or a more boujee friend dinner experience, but casual enough where you won't feel weird wearing shorts or jeans. - Unique dishes - you should come here expecting a Japanese-American fusion place, NOT so much a typical sushi place (or else you'll be disappointed at the prices). Cons: - the wagyu burger was really well priced and the meat was great, but a little too greasy for my taste. But overall pretty good value for your money, since it's one of the "cheaper" items on the menu for the quantity of food you get - Portions might feel "smaller" than what you're expecting for the price, so I would recommend looking at photos ahead of time! Overall, I actually had a really positive experience here, and I liked the variety of things on the menu to try. I honestly think that if people think the portions are too small or things feel overpriced - you're probably ordering the wrong things that don't line up with your interests. I think the octopus and nigiri were particularly delicious with "typical" seafood prices. Keep in mind that despite the "sushi" in its name, it's not the typical East Bay local sushi joint, even though they do have rolls. Bamboo is delicious! As a vegan, I'm always looking for restaurants with options for me and the Bamboo menu has soooo many to choose from. Ella was our server and she was so sweet. I truly appreciated that she asked about allergies and dietary restrictions to start. Then the manager, Carmelo, came out and told us about all of the vegan options they have. He told me that he's vegan too!! They even brought us water for our puppy out on the patio. So thoughtful :') The photo I took was after we had already enjoyed several bites of our food lol. My partner got the wagyu burger (he's not vegan) and I got the spicy edamame, pickled veggie roll, and the little island hopper per Carmelo's recommendation.
