Came here for a quick late night snack, but I ended up ordering a meal. The katsu and chicken bbq plate is a good deal for $17. I couldn't pass that up. Chicken was really good and the portion size is great. It is a great plate to share with another person. Restaurant is very clean. Staff is quick to get your food and pick up after you're done.
Solid ramen!!! If you are looking for good ramen, check out this little gem in Pleasanton. It's a hybrid restaurant where you order at the counter and sit down. They have standard choices of ramen and several styled ramen. I ordered the Tonkatsu ramen. The even ask how spicy you want it. I ordered medium spicy which was perfect for me. Noodles were cooked properly, soft boiled egg was made properly and the sliced pork was good. Other items were good too per my colleague such as chicken katsu and agedashi tofu. My only critique the agedashi tofu was not quite traditional as the crispy outside was thicker than normal. Overall highly recommend.
This is my favorite Ramen 101 location. The service is great and the restaurant is always clean. I love the Japanese decor and lo-fi music - such a homey vibe. The chicken ramen is always my go-to. It magically has the exact toppings I love lol. The spam musubi is also very good! This location is on Main St so parking is tight and the area is busy, but this location is definitely worth making the effort to find parking.
Ramen 101 is a solid ramen and rice bowls place with quick kitchen service chain in the East Bay. You order at the counter upon entering, and then you seat yourself in the room to the right. Water and other drinks as well as napkins are all self-service at a counter. Even though this isn't a full service restaurant, I still felt taken care of at Ramen 101 in Downtown Pleasanton because the person working behind the register was alert of the dining room. He noticed when my daughter and I were done with our meal, but still had food in our bowls, so he came over to see if we needed to-go boxes. He saved me a trip to the counter. It was unexpected and thoughtful. Ramen 101 is clean and a large menu. Not only did they have our favorite items (ramen and rice bowls) but they also have Hawaiian plates! We've been to other Ramen 101 locations for years, and it looks like they have kept prices fairly similar, which is good to see after watching so many others raise theirs so steeply after Covid Times. Our favorite go-to dishes are: Miso Ramen ($16) Black Garlic Ramen Unagi Rice Bowl ($11) Miso broth (only $6; I just have this with rice!) Parking is street parking (pretty easy), but be aware if you're here on a weekend evening, it may take you a few laps to find something.
Decent ramen place but not too impressed. Service is fast and efficient. The restaurant is casual and the red paper lamps add a Japanese touch. They have a vegetarian ramen that comes with veggie broth, available in multiple spice levels. It helped with the ramen craving but could have used more flavor. The Tonkatsu which is their most popular item was good but again, could use more flavor. The tempura was ok and the dipping sauce came in a tiny little takeaway container. I got katsu at a ramen place. It took a really long time for the food to come out but it was a very Hefty meal. Its a good price for all that you get. The katsu was crunchy and plenty of rice. The sauce was really good! We went on a wednesday at 8 so it wasnt packed and plenty of seating. The crab rangoons were really good overall. Cute place and a good menu.

We got black garlic ramen and Hawaiian barbecue combo + water cup. Seated ourselves at a booth and ramen came out super quickly (shocking) along with combo item shortly after. Portions were pretty big and we had to take the bbq combo Togo. Would definitely come back to try more items!
With how cold the weather has been who doesn't love a warm piping bowl of soup!! Look no further than Ramen 101.. I'm always greeted with a friendly smile by the owners every time! I love sitting at the window to people watch! Favorite past time really!! But what I'm here for is the tonkotsu ! And we can't forget the gyoza! My go to order every time and it never disappoints - dining in, togo or even DoorDashed!!
Was in the area, and it was raining, so that craving for soup kicked in, lol. Found Ramen 101 on Yelp and gave it a try! First off, it was about an hour before close, but we were able to get seated right away. You order at the counter, seat yourself, and they bring you your order. On to the food! I went with what I usually get at ramen spots, tonkatsu. But this time I got the black garlic version. It was pretty tasty! I got medium spiciness, and it wasn't spicy at all. Next time I'll get it a little spicier for sure. As far as ambiance, it's nice and casual. I'd recommend giving this place a try.

Based on what I'd seen review wise for this place, I was looking forward to trying it! When we walked in, the staff were friendly and ready to help when we were ready (without being overbearing as we looked at the menu). We ordered chicken katsu, a ramen, and a crab Rangoon starter. The crab Rangoon and ramen came out surprisingly fast, but the chicken katsu took an extra few minutes. The ambiance where we were sitting was cute, I liked the decor! Unfortunately, I really wasn't a fan of the food. The crab rangoon reminded me of those Trader Joe's microwaveable entrees (NOT accusing them of making just microwave ones, just using it as a comparison) and the filling felt too saucy. Being TJ style isn't necessarily bad but a little disappointing when I'm used to the crispy higher quality ones elsewhere. The sauce was also just-ok sauce packets. Additionally, I enjoyed the chicken katsu but felt it was a bit underwhelming... I had a lot of leftovers. My partner felt their ramen was maybe not the best ramen ever but enjoyed it. All in all, I'm glad I tried it but I probably won't be back. Shoutout to the sweet staff though, they rock :)
Ramen 101is a multi location chain in the East Bay and opened a location on Main Street in downtown Pleasanton. Looks like they combined two side by side store fronts with the Kitchen on one side and the dining area on the other. The ramen is very adequate but the side are less than average. The service was excellent. One note is that they store and stack their cleaning supplies right next to the drink fountain. (Not appetizing) Pork rib ramen 4 stars Black garlic ramen 4.5 stars Shrimp tempura 2 stars the batter is awful Squid legs Geso 2 stars definitely precooked Street parking but there are public lots in the back and side streets.

Fast food ramen in downtown Pleasanton. Went with the kids today as the missus was out of town. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you. We ordered miso ramen, bbq chicken and chicken katsu plate, and crab Rangoon and chicken kara-age appetizers, then shared everything. Total bill was about $60 after tax. The food didn't blow us away, but service was quick and portions were decent. My daughter didn't eat much of her miso soup, and we ended up taking most of it and some of the Kara-age home. Be careful parking on the street as the City of Pleasanton has special weekend no-parking hours because of the long lines for meadowlark dairy nearby (we got a $50 ticket!). read more

Black garlic ramen: spicy or not! Both very good. Service was great. Mostly self serve except they bring out your ramen. I still gave tips. Ambiance was casual yet comfortable. A place that we can just drop in without wait for a quick eat. Parking on the street right at downtown can be tough. read more

After hiking sunol. The kids really wanted some warm as it was super cold yesterday . This place is super fast for hungry kids and most delicious Ramen. Their portions are very big, so we ordered three for four of us, and they did not make a big deal about it. The process is very flavourful for vegetarians, and they have options to add more things if you like. my kids finish all of their food and wanted some more. Very cute happening place more importantly, they are very clean. You can't smell food when you walk out of the restaurant. the service is the best part of this place. You get your food quick. We definitely will be back many more times. read more

I brake for ramen noodles! This was my first visit to the Ramen 101 located in downtown Pleasanton. They have ample seating inside for groups of four or for single dining. The dining area is nice and clean too. I had the spicy vegetarian ramen noodles with tofu and vegetable broth and it was delicious. It hit the spot as I was feeling a little under the weather. The group I was with had spicy chicken ramen, chicken katsu, bbq chicken with rice, vegetable tempura, and lumpia's. Everyone was happy with their entrees and left with a full belly. The service is quick and friendly. The restaurant is clean and relatively organized. Food arrived quickly (maybe 10 minutes after ordering). However, the food quality is not good. The chicken karaage was the best thing we ordered (by a long shot). The plate was huge and had pretty decent quantity of chicken. The flavor was decent and it was well cooked. The gyoza was forgettable, tasteless and more chewy than edible. The black garlic ramen was pretty dreadful. Broth was flavorless and watered down. We ordered medium spice but was not spicy at all. The noodles were undercooked yielding a gummy bear-like chewing experience. The chashu was also dry, chewy and bland. Overall not going back. read more
Solid five star Ramen beat down designed to take on Ippudo. Lots of chicken in the chicken teriyaki with edible cabbage that was boiled or something. Point is, it was not just plastic green garnish like at Denny's. Also landed the Tonkatsu ramen which produced some heat. Great flavors and freshness but might overwhelm the uninitiated. Stepped up to a Musubi to go for later Netflix viewing. Side note - chicken was charred which was nice. read more

Yoooooooo bro WTF happened! Why does the food SUCK this time. Just order from here and bro the food is hella awful. Hella ramen noodles but NO TASTE!!! NNNnnnnnOooooooo Ttttaaaassstttteeee!!!!!! Hey my pork is tough like chewing rubber bands! So is my chicken katsu!! But why is my katsu sauce much lighter than all the other times? It looks diluted!!! Hella thin and watery. read more

If you visit Ramen 101 for the ramen, the ramen is just inedible. I'm not sure what the other reviewers have tried, but the Ramen my wife and I had at Ramen 101 isn't even Ramen, it's just plain inedible. I don't know if the "101" is a play on "Taipei 101" or the educational foundations of a subject, e.g. Economics 101, but Ramen 101 needs to actually learn how to make a ramen broth. It tasted like water that maybe someone dropped a few pieces of pork bone into and quickly fetched it out. I'm sorry, but their broth is... water. There was no flavor, no richness, nothing except something that looks like ramen broth, which I'm curious as to how they achieved that without adding the flavor. When my wife had to ask for soy sauce to put into her ramen, and she normally eats bland, that's a problem. Simply put, the ramen here is inedible. As for the karrage chicken, it's ok. Problem I had with their karrage chicken was that it was breaded and coated awkwardly. Now, that makes sense because Ramen 101 aka's it as "popcorn" chicken on its menu, but karrage chicken and popcorn chicken are two different things. Please do not conflate the two simply because they're both chicken and fried. McDonald's isn't calling their McNuggets (Chicken Karrage or Popcorn Chicken--whichever you want to call it). The service was very nice. You have to pay for everything up front which I'm generally not a fan of at a sit down place, but they people were nice--not attentive because once you get your food, they disappear. The water is self service. The restaurant itself gives off a more modern ramen/ Japanese restaurant, which is a bit odd for how they serve you. They also offer Hawaiian food, which we did not want to try. But with the supremely disappointing ramen broth, not coming back. read more

Ramen 101 - great spot for big bowls of Ramen! We stopped by here on a cold afternoon for the first time last week. The place is fairly large with adequate seating areas. Don't be put off by the slightly high prices, because the portions are really big. Make sure to come hungry! I felt the garlic ramen soup wasn't as flavorful as I expected. I also ordered it 'spicy' but it didn't actually feel like it was too spicy. The taste was still good so definately a 4 star place. Overall I was very pleased with the meals. read more
Decent place for ramen. They have only one type of vegetarian (like most places) ramen. Flavor is good, all ramen comes with bean sprouts and onion in it. You can also get spicy sauce on the side. The only thing I would want if they can keep some options in the noodles. I personally don't like thick noodles much so will prefer thin noodles/zucchini noodles. read more
Had dinner here with my family. Initially, the tables were not ready yet. We ordered and paid our food but we were not seated yet. Our server Raymond helped setup the table. They are all very polite and provided good service. The food is typical. The grilled squid is good as well as the BBQ beef ribs. The ramen is good. read more

WOW! The flavor of this ramen is phenomenal. I debated to go back and order a second bowl of what I just had. Service was great, food came really fast and the amount of flavor in my mouth brought me to realize that this was the best Ramen I've had! read more
Came here for a casual Sunday lunch. This place was pretty busy with indoor and to-go orders, so we had to wait a little bit before placing our orders and sitting down. We received our tonkotsu ramens pretty quickly, and the owner was nice to give us a side of hot sauce if we wanted to spice up the noodles. Even though I got the medium spicy broth, it wasn't too spicy, and the hot sauce that they provided was some sort of Chinese chili oil and so made the broth slightly oily. The tonkotsu broth was smooth but not too thick like the tonkotsu at some places, so it was good to sip on. The onsen tamago that topped the ramen was really good and I liked it's soft boiled yolk, and the chashu pork was especially tender and not too fatty. There was a lot of noodles in the bowl - having eaten all the toppings and drank all the soup, I was left with a lot of noodles that I then brought to go. Overall it was a good meal! read more

Went veggie today at this Ramen place and honestly, it was pretty good! The veggie ramen was full of flavor and the tofu was on point. Also got some nice kicks from Schezwan pepper in there. The spicy cucumber salad was a hit--cool but with a spicy twist. Now, the veggie tempura was a letdown. Way too crispy and oily. Maybe they had the oil too hot or something? The tofu rice bowl wasn't what I had in mind, but hey, my kid loved it, so all good there. Ohh on the spicy level, go for extra spicy if ur in the spice zone All in all, not bad. Would go back for that ramen and cucumber salad for sure! read more

Is the vegetable ramen vegan? What is the broth base for it?
I believe it's vegan as the broth says veggie broth but I'm not entirely sure if there is any dairy product used in it.
Curious to know if any alcoholic beverages such as beer/wine/sake is served here? Didn't note any photos of any taken as of yet.…
