    Stir-fried Chicken Lo Mein
    Shailesh M.

Tried this really good shangainese food in Dublin; we had the pork shrimp and leek dumplings with the hot sauce and it was yum; also had the chicken stir fried lo mein, little bit oily/saucy but amazing taste! Highly recommended!!

Food is solid and great great service! Best dumplings and green bean was light, and fresh. The favorite is the cucumber salad, perfectly seasoned.

Small, efficient, clean, sit down take out spot. Nice staff, good selection with frozen options of dumplings to take home. Reasonable prices and plenty of parking, We had the chicken dumplings and they were perfection. Such a flavor bomb in every bite. Ample selection of sauces spicy and not to choose from. This is a good choice to get your dumpling on.

Good local spot if you live in the area! You sit down and can mark on a menu what you want to order, and then you'll order at the front kiosk. They also had some special dishes posted on the wall that are not on the menu. Smaller restaurant as well. Service was attentive and great, although there were only 3 tables taken at the time. XLB, green beans, and the special spicy pork chili wonton were good. I wished the green beans were cooked or fried a bit more - they are on the softer side but have good flavor. There was also a special lava bun, but it was pretty watery and slightly chalky. Would probably not get that again!

I love this spot. I've eaten here a few times (including my birthday and my fiancé's birthday,) and the food and service are always stellar. This time we ordered the pork xiaolongbao, which had the best savory broth and meat. We also got the shumai, which was beautiful and so tender. The popcorn chicken is always perfectly crispy and we also got an order of chicken potstickers which never disappoints. Everything is served with super speed, and the restaurant is always clean. If you can, try to come during non-peak hours (slightly before or after noon, or slightly before dinner) because parking can be a little challenging.

Visiting 88 Bao Bao for the second time, quick little pit stop on my way through the area. Interestingly the quality of the things we ordered this time seemed just a little bit better, Xiao Long Bao this time was very solid, great texture, great taste. Beef Roll Pancake, undefeated, but slightly less greasy that's a positive for sure. Chili Oil Wontons, SHOCKINGLY juicy and fresh, these hit. Same thing with the potstickers, first one was so juice it shot across the table. Good stuff. Now on the less awesome, the green beans did taste good, but they were very very oily, and the Golden Fried Bun with condensed milk....... Now those I wouldn't get again, those were SOAKED in grease and just tasted like old fryer. I'm not sure there is any way around that with these though, they are just a grease bomb. Maybe if they were coated in powdered sugar or something it could mask a bit of the oil taste, but these we didn't finish. Service, always super fast and the staff is hard at work cranking out everything totally fresh. Ambiance like I said before, bit weird. It's like being in a closet vs a dining space, but hey, they gotta do what they gotta do. One thing is the price, it was $87 for what we ordered, and where this is good, it just doesn't seem to live up hype of $15+ per selection, that's steep.

The soup dumpling at this restaurant is so round. Order at the register, get a number and seat yourself! There's at least 15 tables. The menu contains a lot of good selection of items. The order came out quickly which is awesome. The Xiao long bao ($12.95) is very juicy, thin wraps for an easy bite. Filling was plentiful as well, contains pork, ginger, and scallions. Mixed with ginger vinegar makes it taste better. The chili oil noodles ($12.95) had good chew, could use a few more bok choy in the dish, but overall, not spicy and would come back for the noodles

Had to try this place since one is opening up around my area. This place is nice and clean. It's a small place but groups can be occupied. Very spacious and food is freshly made. Dumpling soups is a must. Soo good. Well all the food that I ordered is good. Friendly ladies and fast service. Now check out what I ordered.

Long standing line to place orders in a cramped space on a Sunday afternoon. Be prepared for a good 10+ minute wait.

I've been here plenty of times but for whatever reason have always failed to follow up with my review. 88 Bao Bao is a solid traditional Chinese dumpling place offering a number of other fast casual Chinese food options. Service is always quick with ordering at the front counter and if you choose to dine in, finding one of the few available tables for eating. This time because I was time-crunched, I placed my order online about 10 to 12 minutes away from arrival. My order was already waiting for me before the promised time, well packaged and bagged for my pickup. I decided that we would eat there, and the staff was very accommodating, helping us to set up our table with plates and napkins and unpacking our already bagged up food. The food was still piping hot, and just as good as every time we are here. We ordered our usual stir fried green beans and xiao long bao. This time I ordered the popcorn chicken. The chicken was moist and well seasoned just like those made popular at boba tea shops. Plus the portion size was big and satisfying. Again, a solid spot for a quick and satisfying meal!

My boyfriend's a big fan of Chinese beef rolls, so we wanted to try this local spot I've had bookmarked for years. It's a small, no-frills spot with a simple menu. Tldr; come for the beef rolls- skip the soup and wontons. - beef roll: SO good. I would definitely come back just for these and order multiple. - pork xlb: not bad, but not amazing. Good if you're in the area and craving it. The skins weren't super stretchy or delicate. - beef noodle soup: super oily and extremely bland. Huge pass. - chili oil wontons: these tasted so strange, we actually had to ask if we got the right order. Half of the filling was veggies and the sauce was not like anything we've tasted when we've ordered the same dish elsewhere. Big pass.

Custard buns - custard was grainy...
    Jennifer C.

Service is fast in this simple chain restaurant. Everything we got was decent. but nothing was amazing where it would warrant a return visit. We got shaomai, hargow, beef rolls, custard buns, and chili oil wontons. Would recommend skipping the custard buns and the chili oil wontons. The custard buns had a grainy texture and the chili oil wontons lacked depth of flavor. As a plus, the portions are much larger than standard dim sum which is reflected in the price.

We were in need of some dinner. So we decided on some dumplings so 88 Bao Bao here we go! It's been a while for us since we've been here so it was nice to try it again. In short, it was just okay. L O C A T I O N 88 Bao Bao is located in the plaza on Fallon Rd. and Dublin Blvd. Parking in this area has a dedicated parking lot but it was definitely hard to find a spot. I N S I D E I forgot how small this place is. It's small but there are definitely a good amount of tables and seats inside. It may be easier to just take food to go or if you do want to eat in with a group maybe come in earlier during the peak eating times. M E N U I'm glad there were some menus on Yelp because when I went on my phone to attempt to go to the online ordering system, I couldn't on my iPhone. There was no way to get past the warning text about making sure you order at the right location. There are good variety of items from steamed, boiled, and pan fried dumplings as well as some noodles and soups. ~ Chili Oil Wontons ~ It was hurts so good kind of wontons. The spiciness was definitely one that hit and just lingered for a while. So if don't like that kind of spice then you may not want to let those wontons swim in that chili or douse it in more of the sauce or just avoid this dish. ~ Pork Xiao Long Bao ~ I feel like this would be better if eaten in person. But regardless, the top is thick, the inside fine but I've definitely had better. I recall the first time I had this in the actual restaurant, I found it too fatty. ~ Boiled Pork, Shrimp, Leek Dumplings ~ Full of flavor and that's probably due to the shrimp and leek. I'd get this again. ~ Pan Fried Pork Buns ~ I didn't get to eat one but the inside is different than what I'm used to. It's ground meat that's loose inside the bun. The others who had it in our group said that it isn't the best they've had but it was different. ~ Beef Roll ~ A nice chew and slightly sweet. I kind of liked this. ~ Stir-fried Green Beans ~ Very garlic forward with slices of garlic. A little oily, but it was good. S E R V I C E We called in our order. We were told about 15-20 minutes. It was probably done closer to 15 minutes as we felt the food was sitting there for a while. We easily paid by card. O V E R A L L If you're looking for some dumpling, this place isn't too shabby and has a good variety of items to choose from to get a good sampler of food. It was very easy to order calling in, but ordering online on my phone not so much. Check them out!

    Beef Noodle Soup

Came here on a Sunday shortly before noon. We were able to get seated promptly but we had to share a table with other customers. We checked the items we wanted to order then had to go to the cashier and order. Kinda interesting cuz we had to pay tips before we've been served and the tips was on top of tax. All the food was good. Better than the one we tried in San Ramon recently . XLB was good but didn't blow me away . Maybe the soup wasn't as rich. Beef roll did blow me away. Usually it's pan-fried but they had it deep fried and the crust was crispy but not too thick. The ratio of crust, beef, sauce and everything else was good!! Highly recommend it. Pan fried pork bun was good too it's lots of soup inside. We like it pan fried and not deep fried as other places do. Beef noodle soup- I asked the person who takes our order if it's spicy and he said no. But it came with chili oil on the top. It's not super spicy but it's not non-spicy either. Beef was tender. Soup can be more flavorful. Overall , we enjoyed it. Customer service was very good!!! Not the usual Chinese restaurant service you get! From the moment we went in to the time we left, they were so attentive and friendly. It's quite a small place so it gets crowded and lots of people waiting when we left. And you might need to share a table with others. But the food was good! Will definitely come back!

Is there MSG in the fried rice?

    Do they take reservations?

No. They can get busy but you can always get take out and eat in your car or at Bishop Ranch.

There's a new location opening up in Antioch/Brentwood area. Yay!! When will they open?

Not sure, but Castro Valley will be opening late September/early October :)

Hello, is the beef roll diary free?

There is a small amount of dairy in the sauce they use for the beef rolls

Will you be open on 12/24 or 12/25?

I don't know, but traditionally Chinese restaurants are known to be open on Xmas day. If not them, I'm sure another Chinese restaurant will be. Those that are open tend to be slammed, so go early.

    Do they take phone orders?

    Yes, they do! :-)

    Can you get Takeout?

    Yes,you can do Togo.

What kind of frozen dumplings do they sell? XLB? Potstickers? Kind that's supposed to be boiled?

They sell the kind that have a thicker skin and can be boiled or steamed, but you could also pan-fry them and turn them into potstickers.

Do they accept American Express credit cards?

    I believe so.

    Gluten free options?

So far as I know there r no gluten free options. It's a small shop with limited menu items, most of which the do really well.

Do they sell frozen dumplings so I can take home to cook on my own?

They do! We went there last week there's a sign by the door that they sell frozen dumpling.

Does this place use MSG in the food?

No being very sensitive to msg I always ask if they use it.

    Any vegan options?

Yes my daughter is a vegan and we discovered a reasonable number of vegan plates. Bon Appetite

I'd definitely come back again.

I ordered 3 items from DoorDash today. Mango pudding, crab dumplings, and mapo tofu. The mango pudding was entirely missing from the order. The crab dumplings had zero traces of crab. (The description was "Steamed dumplings filled with fresh crab meat") The worst thing about the "crab" dumplings sans crab was that they tasted terrible. Usually, regardless of dumpling type, I love them all. I am far from a picky eater. So making dumplings taste terrible is a rare feat. I powered through one of them but threw away the rest. The Mapo Tofu was unlike any Mapo Tofu I've ever tasted. It was a container of tofu pieces suspended in a thick sugary syrup. I couldn't eat them, they tasted so weird. I threw it all away. It's too bad because I was quite hungry and especially excited for the mapo tofu. I will not be ordering from here again.

It is tender, and the shrimp are large and crispy. Comes with the classic soy-based sauce. Crab meat braised E - fu noodle $24.95 - DH's favorite noodle. This type of noodle is very soft and absorbs all of the flavors from the crab pieces and sauce. Great choice for seafood lovers! Shrimp silky egg chow fun $24.95 - little one's favorite. This one just has such a great combination of flavors. The velvety "gravy" really ties everything together and makes it go down smoothly. This one has flat noodles (cheung fun), like the classic beef chow fun. Comfort food for sure! Sautéed Chinese green $22.95 - this looks to be pan seared choy sum. Seems kind of expensive, but they actually pack a lot of greens into the box. They don't have the veggie clay pot anymore, Barbecue pork $15.95 - they do a pretty good job with this one too. The flavors are really good and interestingly enough it comes with these little beans on the bottom. Pork tends to be a little bit on the lean side. Portion size seems okay. We didn't get the beef chow fun because we didn't need that much food. But that one is a classic here and they usually do a great job with it too. Food is usually ready very quickly and everything was steaming hot. Staff are efficient and friendly. Give it a try; this place is consistently good and I highly recommend it!

My first time here after hearing about years ago but this location isn't close to my home so I…read morefinally made it, and I was glad. The dim sum lunch was authentic HK Cantonese teahouse style and it was a terrific place to meet old friends for loud laughs and conversations. The staff was on point periodically swinging by to subtly assisting us with needs and emptied plates. I understand that this particular restaurant has been open for several years now but I did not realize their chain of restaurants have been for almost 20 years! That's quite a feat in my view. Because of my excitement with catching up with my friends, I did not take much pictures of the food or setting but to affirm, the food was delicious and the tea was smooth, fresh; the eatery was nicely decorated and spacious too. Don't know if my non-Chinese friends understand this, BUT YOU CAN ask for various, different kinds of teas and their combination. Yes, multiple pots too. The dim sum is obviously the center piece but the tea "yum chai" is equally the star in my opinion to complement the foods. I recommend a lighter tea for lite drinkers like Chrysanthemum tea ie flower steeped, no caffeine and floral. However, if you want a bold tea try "Bo lay" black tea for lightly sipping when eating lots and lots of heavy food. Pro-tip: For tea adventurers, try a fusion teapot (e.g. Chrysanthemum + Bo lay), combo tea flavors is different and neat when i crave for a different drink. I'll be back for sure. Hope you do too!

We got the green onion pancake ($8.95), kung pao chicken ($15.95), yang chou fried rice ($13.95), and one other stir fried dish I can't totally remember but believe was pork with mushrooms and bell peppers. The kung pao chicken had some flavor in the sauce I wasn't totally loving, but was spicy and packed with chicken, peanuts, onions, and bell peppers. The green onion pancake was crispy and delicious, with eight slices to an order. But the star of the show was the yang chou fried rice, which is that fluffy, soft type of fried rice I absolutely love. That was the first thing that got finished at the table. Portions are generous. My brother and I are both good eaters but we still left with leftovers. However, be careful with the take-out containers here; the kung pao leaked for some reason and the containers just felt a little flimsy in general. Luckily they were in a plastic bag, otherwise it would've gotten all over the car. Plenty of other things on the menu to try and I wouldn't object to coming here again, I just wouldn't drive all the way out specifically for it.

Great flavor though - they coated the flounder and fried it first, then put all that sauce on along with vegetables. The other dish we got was a stir fry green bean dish that was done well, crisp tender with a flavorful sauce. The restaurant needs a little TLC, the furniture is aging but overall nice ambience. Service was great, reminiscent of the service you would get in China, which is much more polite and hospitable than what you get in the states.
