We dropped by Golden Sand Harbor in Dublin for some dim sum, and overall, the flavors really delivered. Everything we ordered tasted great and was seasoned perfectly. The only slight letdown was that the skin on a few of the dumplings was a bit too delicate and sensitive--they tore easily, so the kitchen's wrapper wrapper-to-filling ratio or dough mixture might have been just a little off that day. That minor detail aside, the food was genuinely delicious. We did notice a funny little quirk on the menu, though: there are two completely different dishes both labeled as number "202." If you aren't paying close attention, you might get a surprise, because one "202" is the rich roasted duck, and the other "202" is a vegetable dish! Definitely double-check with your server when ordering so you get exactly what you're craving. Great food, solid flavors, and a little menu treasure hunt made for a good meal. We ordered 10 dishes and everything came out pretty quickly. I was happy that the vegetable dishes came out first. Restaurant is bright and spacious. Good for large groups. Wouldn't mind coming back. The good stuff: - Pea sprouts and cordyceps in broth- I'd get this again although it was kinda pricy for a vegetable dish. I expected it to be a much larger serving. - Pan fried turnip cake- Is it me or have I never had a bad fried turnip cake? - Siu Mai- it didn't stand out for me but I'd still get it again. - Steam chicken feet with black bean sauce- I usually don't care for chicken feet but this was pretty good. Really terrible Chinese food and poor quality control. I mean I've had bad Chinese food before but rarely do I feel inclined to write a review venting about the items. I ordered 3 items from DoorDash today. Mango pudding, crab dumplings, and mapo tofu. The mango pudding was entirely missing from the order. The crab dumplings had zero traces of crab. They were filled with carrots, shrimp, mushroom. I searched carefully to see if there was even one sliver of crab meat, and I'm confident there was none. (The description was "Steamed dumplings filled with fresh crab meat") The worst thing about the "crab" dumplings sans crab was that they tasted terrible. Usually, regardless of dumpling type, I love them all. I am far from a picky eater. So making dumplings taste terrible is a rare feat. I powered through one of them but threw away the rest. The Mapo Tofu was unlike any Mapo Tofu I've ever tasted. It was a container of tofu pieces suspended in a thick sugary syrup. I couldn't eat them, they tasted so weird. I threw it all away. It's too bad because I was quite hungry and especially excited for the mapo tofu. I will not be ordering from here again. read more

seek and you will find. the star of this visit was "Siu Yuk", crispy pork skin. It is pork belly with the skin. Our family has made this for years, but never as good as this. The fat was perfectly rendered with the meat very tender. The skin was absolutely perfect, like a light crispy cracker. A lot of preparation goes into making it like this, and with the quantity for price there is no reason to try making it at home when you can get it this good in 15 minutes. We live in the neighborhood and decided to give this place another try after a few years. We ordered the lunch set with pan-fried rice noodles and five dim sum dishes. We enjoyed our dim sum meal at Golden Sand Harbor. Restaurant is located in a little strip mall. There is ample parking albeit you may have to walk a bit. We ordered: Shrimp dumpling - used nice sized shrimps Shanghai dumpling Steamed BBQ pork bun w/honey sauce Deep fried crispy prawns dumpling Pan fried pork bun - perfectly fried and juicy Shrimp Rice Noodle Roll - standard, would order again Steamed dumpling w/sesame filling - not bad, a little heavy Mango pudding - my son enjoyed this We also ordered menu items - Dried fried salt & pepper pork - non-greasy and tasty Honey glazed walnut prawns - batter/shrimp ratio was good The standout dishes for us were the shrimp dumpling, pan fried pork bun, deep fried salt & pepper pork, and honey glazed walnut prawns. House Pan Fried Noodles with Chicken, Beef Shrimp and Bok Choy is one of the better one here. Lots of flavor!! Beef Chow Fun, my Nephews favorite, perfectly stir fried with the the wok burnt. Honey Walnut Prawns didn't have to much mayos on it, which is perfect. Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice is always good. Garlic Sauteed Gai Lan ( Chinese Broccoli) was very fresh. Came here on a Friday when they opened at 11am! There was only another table occupied! We haven't been here for many years. We liked it before since they were cheaper than koi and less crowded. I'm not sure if they are still cheaper than koi but the food was all pretty good. The only dishes I thought were a bit smaller was the shrimp rice rolls fried donut rice roll (I'm not sure if that's the English name!) this shrimp rice rolls were shorter than usual! The bbq pork rice rolls were longer. The fried donut rice roll was small in that the fried donuts were way skinnier than usual. This is my go-to dim sum spot in the Tri-Valley area--not just because the food is good, but also because I love the restaurant's ambiance. Every time I walk in, it feels bright, clean, and spacious, which adds to the overall dining experience. I've noticed they've completely stopped using the traditional dim sum pushcarts. Instead, you place your order on a paper menu. While this system works fine, I do miss the excitement of seeing the pushcarts roll by around the restaurant--it brought a fun energy to the whole dining experience that's now missing. That said, the food is delicious. Today, we ordered a wide variety of dishes. Some of my favorites included the classic pork shumai, shrimp dumplings, and the bbq pork turnovers. On the downside, the juicy dumplings were a bit of a letdown (ironically, not very juicy), and the fried oysters lacked seasoning and fell flat flavor-wise. Service was hit or miss. Some staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful, while others came off as jaded and borderline rude, making the overall service experience a bit inconsistent and difficult to rate definitively. Parking was easy--it's located in a large, open plaza with plenty of shared parking, which is always a plus. Place was half full with many large parties for the pre-holidays. Set up is mark items off a list accompanied by a picture menu for those not familiar with items. Ordered the basic items of shrimp and pork dumpling, shrimp-stuffed eggplant, fried shrimp dumpling, fried taro and calamari...yes, very shrimp-centric items. All delicious but would pass on the calamari as overcooked and chewy. Definitely will make a return visit as I've tried many dim sum spots but have to say Golden Sand Harbor does some good dumplings. Service was definitely better than most Chinese restaurants. Replenishing tea pot, water, checking to make sure we received our complete order, etc. Pricing on the higher side. Decent Chinese food. I liked the honey walnut shrimp and thought the salt and pepper pork and sweet and sour pork wasn't half bad. I did think the royal roasted chicken was bland and dry though and wouldn't have that again. A nice surprise was the fish maw soup that came out as an appetizer- probably my favorite of the meal. Overall- decent stuff...not great and not bad. For this area, not a bad place to eat at. I'd come back to try their dimsum and see how it fares compared to Mayflower or Koi Palace nearby. read more

The coffee spare ribs are the dish you will keep thinking about later, super tender, sticky, and just barely bitter from the coffee so they do not eat like candy. The classics are all dialed in too: sticky rice is packed, sponge cake is top tier, and the fried chicken wings are stupid good, crispy, juicy, and way more flavorful than the usual "just fine" wings you get at most spots. Service is fast in that old school dim sum way, but it still feels relaxed and friendly, not rushed. It is clearly a family operation and it shows; they remember you, they check in without hovering, and the whole vibe is just really warm. I have tried the 2 lunch special options at Golden Sand Harbor. One option has dim sum with lobster noodle. The other option has dim sum with clam porridge. The portion is good enough for a party of 9 (3 couples with 3 kids). Both of the lunch special tasted good. Prices for both lunch special are super reasonable. This place is great! Definitely your traditional Cantonese Dim Sum minus the carts waitresses will push around - you check off things on a menu and they bring it right to your table. I honestly prefer this method since you get a nice overview of all of the things they offer. One menu item in particular that really stands out is one of their rice roll options - Deep Fried Shrimp Cake Rice Roll. It's kind of hard to describe, but it's basically a cross between a deep fried Chinese Donut and Shrimp cake wrapped around with a silky smooth, velvety rice paper with a sweet and savory soy sauce poured over. It had more people in this restaurant that I have ever seen. 6:30 reservations- our older female waitress took our order around 7pm. People all around us were getting their food- people who came after us were served. At 7:35 I asked our waitress after flagging her down-- where's our food? She said she would ask, but does not come back to us. I had to go to the front to ask where's our food? I asked kindly. 7:45-7:50 our soup is served - pigs knuckles with lotus root- it was the worse soup I have ever had- it literally tasted like warm water. But I ate the meat in it because I was so hungry. Literally no flavor at all - brown soup - zero flavor. Great if you need a low sodium soup because it was like water. The chef needs to try their food before serving it. I told him that the soup lacked any flavor - we offered for him to try it or at least try the one in the back. My mom asked for a refund of the soup - since it was basically dirty water. He offered to give us neen go or lo bok go. My mom opted for lo bak go. None of the party really wanted it - but since this is all they were offering we took it. Will we back ? Prob not. It was so disappointing. Ambience - decor ok. The smell when you enter is a little better(not mildew) but it smells like an air freshener with bleach. I don't want to smell air freshener - I want to smell nothing or I'd rather have a food smell. Pls taste your food you're serving. Maybe it's better when it's not so busy? We had my mother's 90th birthday celebration at Golden Sand Harbor and all of her friends raved about the food. I love that they serve hot fresh dim sum during all of their open hours along with their regular menu. First time here and I like it! Ample parking in the parking lot (also has Tesla EV Charging) and for the most part restaurant is nice and clean (restroom had a hard to describe odor so you may need to practice holding your breath). Restaurant is not as big nor grand as Koi's Palace or Mayflower, but it's adequate. We came here for dim sum and this place checked all the boxes.. good food, good price and good service. The crispy food came out nice and crispy (unlike some places that have them pre-fried and in push carts). One thing I like is they didn't make all of our orders and flood the table all at once, but it came staggered over the course of the hour. Wait staff was friendly and came by frequently to fill the tea ($1.70 per person for tea) and water. Portion sides are on par with other competitors, but they do put the soy sauce for the rice noodles in a small to-go type container (I'd prefer they just put the soy sauce in a small dish) that's kind of a waste. And, when we asked for chili oil, they brought a couple of chili-oil in a to-go container.. Although an acquired taste, one of their best rice noodle is their bitter melon and chicken rice noodles. Their Shrimp Dumpling was plump and full of shrimp, and their stuffed eggplant was done perfectly.. crispy eggplant and chewy fish paste with good dose of sauce. Given the option, this is a great alternative to Koi and Mayflower (where you have to get a number and could end up waiting for over an hour), and the food is on par if not better. AMAZING - that is all you need to know! Partner had been here for a work lunch and had mentioned how great the food was. So after running errands we stopped by. Mid afternoon on a Saturday and there were a couple parties waiting to be seated. For a party of two we waited about 10-15 minutes. They have more than enough seating inside with a very traditional style. We were seated and then forgot about for awhile, but again - we came here for the food. We ordered: Baked Pork Buns - I generally do not like pork buns since they are too sweet, but these were amazing and just the right amount of filling. Baked Egg Custard - amazing! They do have small pieces of pineapple (i think) Sui Mai - the best I have ever had. 1/2 star for the three dishes that came out to our table... 1) raw pork(pot stickers), 2) raw beef(chow fun), and their new 3)coffee pork ribs. We were told that it was impossible that the cold ha-gow did not have raw shrimp(because they reheat the frozen ones they get), or it would have been 4 dishes that came raw. And a 1/2 star for the manager who puts on an act of not seeing the raw food being served to his customers. Poor cooking and poor acting.
