This was for take out. As usual friendly service and consistently great food. I decided to be adventurous and try the coffee short ribs. I don't usually order ribs but decided to experiment. Very nice! Like sweet sticky ribs with a certain deep flavor. Not exactly like coffee but similar. Definitely something different. I would try again but I don't get ribs much. The Hong Kong style fried noodles are always great. The mushu pork is always made to perfection.

Came in for my daughters Birthday dinner on Sunday evening at 5:30 and got a table right away for 12 people. Service was excellent, the staff was very attentive. Kelp our water glass full and the tea pot as well. Everything we had was very good!!! Hot & Sour Soup - Excellent Egg Flower Soup - Good Shrimp Cheung Fun - Very Good Royal Chicken - Gwai Fei Gai (贵妃鸡) - Cantonese-Style Poached Chicken with Ginger Scallion Sauce is Excellent. Perfectly poached. Salt and Pepper Tofu - Excellent Scallion Pancakes - Excellent and its Crispy Mongolian Beef - The beef was very tender and had excellent flavors. Pork XLB was just OK, not a lot of juice. Peking Duck was great and tasty. Fresh Tofu with Beef, again beef is tender and the fresh tofu was made perfectly. House Pan Fried Noodles with Chicken, Beef Shrimp and Bok Choy is one of the better one here. Lots of flavor!! Beef Chow Fun, my Nephews favorite, perfectly stir fried with the the wok burnt. Honey Walnut Prawns didn't have to much mayos on it, which is perfect. Salted Fish and Chicken Fried Rice is always good. Garlic Sauteed Gai Lan ( Chinese Broccoli) was very fresh. Mango Pudding & Egg Tarts for dessert, can't go wrong with that. Overall, this a 4.5 stars experience!!

Always get a great lunch here! Lunch menu is very reasonable with generous portions of fresh food. Nice Dim Sum options. Service is excellent

Came here on a Friday when they opened at 11am! There was only another table occupied! We haven't been here for many years. We liked it before since they were cheaper than koi and less crowded. I'm not sure if they are still cheaper than koi but the food was all pretty good. The only dishes I thought were a bit smaller was the shrimp rice rolls fried donut rice roll (I'm not sure if that's the English name!) this shrimp rice rolls were shorter than usual! The bbq pork rice rolls were longer. The fried donut rice roll was small in that the fried donuts were way skinnier than usual. Other than that , we enjoyed our lunch there and will definitely be back when we are craving dim sum!

This is my go-to dim sum spot in the Tri-Valley area--not just because the food is good, but also because I love the restaurant's ambiance. Every time I walk in, it feels bright, clean, and spacious, which adds to the overall dining experience. I've noticed they've completely stopped using the traditional dim sum pushcarts. Instead, you place your order on a paper menu. While this system works fine, I do miss the excitement of seeing the pushcarts roll by around the restaurant--it brought a fun energy to the whole dining experience that's now missing. That said, the food is delicious. Today, we ordered a wide variety of dishes. Some of my favorites included the classic pork shumai, shrimp dumplings, and the bbq pork turnovers. On the downside, the juicy dumplings were a bit of a letdown (ironically, not very juicy), and the fried oysters lacked seasoning and fell flat flavor-wise. Service was hit or miss. Some staff were friendly, attentive, and helpful, while others came off as jaded and borderline rude, making the overall service experience a bit inconsistent and difficult to rate definitively. Parking was easy--it's located in a large, open plaza with plenty of shared parking, which is always a plus. Overall, I had a great experience and would definitely come back again, especially for a weekend brunch.

First time at Golden Sand Harbor and had a nice experience from the delicious dim sum and friendly, attentive service....i know right? Place was half full with many large parties for the pre-holidays. Set up is mark items off a list accompanied by a picture menu for those not familiar with items. Ordered the basic items of shrimp and pork dumpling, shrimp-stuffed eggplant, fried shrimp dumpling, fried taro and calamari...yes, very shrimp-centric items. All delicious but would pass on the calamari as overcooked and chewy. Definitely will make a return visit as I've tried many dim sum spots but have to say Golden Sand Harbor does some good dumplings. Service was definitely better than most Chinese restaurants. Replenishing tea pot, water, checking to make sure we received our complete order, etc. Pricing on the higher side. For 8 items: about $45-$50/person including tax/tip/tea with leftovers. Plenty of lot parking in the Dollar Tree shopping center.

The service here was great. We had a very helpful and courteous waiter. The food came out quickly and the location is great (across the street from the Ranch 99 with the Daiso and Savers). The ambiance was pleasant with large windows which let in a nice sunlight. With my rating of their dim sum, I am going to compare it to Mayflower, my current top dim sum spot. Shrimp & Chives dumpling =tied Salty egg yolk dessert bun=Golden Sand Harbor wins because they give more filling. It came out hot and was delicious and creamy Jin Dui=Mayflower is my preference as I felt Golden's had a too strong five spice flavor Taro Gok=tied (can somewhere please serve it piping hot-yes I want it to practically burn my mouth) Chinese broccoli- this one goes to Mayflower Xiao Long Bao- Mayflower by a landslide...do not order this here at Golden and if you do, don't say I didn't warn you. Also it isn't served with black vinegar but after trying it, even that couldn't save it. No one in my party wanted to finish eating it. Flaky dim sum with pork-Golden Sand Harbor (Mayflower doesn't have this)

Wow, first time having their lunch specials! They are not only reasonable priced but big enough to share if you order dim sum! I took my sister here from out of town after her spa day and she loved her entire experience! Customer service was stellar and attentive. Our waters and hot tea were consistently filled!!' We can't wait to try more new dishes as GSH has such a large variety!!

First time having Golden Sand Harbor in like more than 6 years? It was not my favorite. I felt like everything lacked flavor? And when it did have flavor, I couldn't tell what kind of flavor it was. I don't think I had a favorite dim sum item.

You know it makes a big difference when you could see the picture of food you want to eat I'm a food lover I love all kinds of different food specially Chinese food and the pork buns sesame seed rolls all those different desserts they have and different ribs vegetables this is a place to go if you really want some good food and you want to guess lounge around I recommend this place you won't regret it because they have all kinds of different food to pick out of and I can't wait to bite into that sesame seed rolls and the barbecue buns p they have all kinds of different selections of food so you have to go over there cuz I will be going over there for the different food that I enjoy eating and their food is so tasty I highly recommend them specially the hospitality is top 10 when you are sure with hospitality that's top 10 with a smile and humbleness your food tastes better

    Salt and pepper pork ribs
    Jessica D.

Decent Chinese food. I liked the honey walnut shrimp and thought the salt and pepper pork and sweet and sour pork wasn't half bad. I did think the royal roasted chicken was bland and dry though and wouldn't have that again. A nice surprise was the fish maw soup that came out as an appetizer- probably my favorite of the meal. Overall- decent stuff...not great and not bad. For this area, not a bad place to eat at. I'd come back to try their dimsum and see how it fares compared to Mayflower or Koi Palace nearby.

Does the restaurant server DIM SUM from Carts or just menu?

Hi Sam, they have their cart service on hold. I know :-( it's one of my fav about Golden Sand Harbor.

Do they serve dimsum for dinner?

Yes, I was here for DINNER and offered the dim sum menu, but chose the dinner entrees instead. The dim sum here is great having eat here many times.

Which delivery service does the restaurant use?

Are they going to open for take out on Chinese New Year?

    Yes

    All day dim sum?

No, dim sum is always and traditionally served only in the mornings and through noon and Beyond to maybe 1-2 PM at the latest. It's just the way it is because that type of Cuisine is never designed for dinner or evening meals.

Do they use MSG (monosodium glutamate)?

So you dominates to wait , just walk up to the check in counter and bring seated . I usually make my reservations 3 days in advance to make sure I can get the large table. They had to take us out of the restaurant and reenter from the side of the building to go upstairs. The second floor looked just as nice, clean, and spacious. We ordered some staple dim sum items like pork siu mai and har gow, and both were really good. I also tried the shrimp and scallop dumplings, which are similar to har gow, and those were pretty tasty too. We also got the fried rice with salted fish, and it was made in a "yang chow" style, so it was rather pale in color, but don't let that fool you, because it was really flavorful. We also ordered their fried calamari, which was meh at best and was nothing special. That was probably my least favorite dish. We also got lo mai gai and deep fried taro dumplings filled with pork. Overall, the food was really yummy. The service was great too. The staff were attentive and quick to bring extra chili sauce and other condiments when we requested them. I'd definitely come back again.

The texture is just right, there are plenty of fish pieces, and the flavor is classic, right down to the ginger slivers. Shrimp rice noodle roll $9.50 - DH's favorite dim sum item. It is tender, and the shrimp are large and crispy. Comes with the classic soy-based sauce. Crab meat braised E - fu noodle $24.95 - DH's favorite noodle. This type of noodle is very soft and absorbs all of the flavors from the crab pieces and sauce. Great choice for seafood lovers! Shrimp silky egg chow fun $24.95 - little one's favorite. This one just has such a great combination of flavors. The velvety "gravy" really ties everything together and makes it go down smoothly. This one has flat noodles (cheung fun), like the classic beef chow fun. Comfort food for sure! Sautéed Chinese green $22.95 - this looks to be pan seared choy sum. Seems kind of expensive, but they actually pack a lot of greens into the box. They don't have the veggie clay pot anymore, Barbecue pork $15.95 - they do a pretty good job with this one too. The flavors are really good and interestingly enough it comes with these little beans on the bottom. Pork tends to be a little bit on the lean side. Portion size seems okay. We didn't get the beef chow fun because we didn't need that much food. But that one is a classic here and they usually do a great job with it too. The dim sum lunch was authentic HK Cantonese teahouse style and it was a terrific place to meet old friends for loud laughs and conversations. The staff was on point periodically swinging by to subtly assisting us with needs and emptied plates. I understand that this particular restaurant has been open for several years now but I did not realize their chain of restaurants have been for almost 20 years! That's quite a feat in my view. Because of my excitement with catching up with my friends, I did not take much pictures of the food or setting but to affirm, the food was delicious and the tea was smooth, fresh; the eatery was nicely decorated and spacious too. Don't know if my non-Chinese friends understand this, BUT YOU CAN ask for various, different kinds of teas and their combination. Yes, multiple pots too. The dim sum is obviously the center piece but the tea "yum chai" is equally the star in my opinion to complement the foods. I recommend a lighter tea for lite drinkers like Chrysanthemum tea ie flower steeped, no caffeine and floral. However, if you want a bold tea try "Bo lay" black tea for lightly sipping when eating lots and lots of heavy food. Pro-tip: For tea adventurers, try a fusion teapot (e.g. Chrysanthemum + Bo lay), combo tea flavors is different and neat when i crave for a different drink. I'll be back for sure. Hope you do too!

We got the green onion pancake ($8.95), kung pao chicken ($15.95), yang chou fried rice ($13.95), and one other stir fried dish I can't totally remember but believe was pork with mushrooms and bell peppers. The kung pao chicken had some flavor in the sauce I wasn't totally loving, but was spicy and packed with chicken, peanuts, onions, and bell peppers. The green onion pancake was crispy and delicious, with eight slices to an order. But the star of the show was the yang chou fried rice, which is that fluffy, soft type of fried rice I absolutely love. That was the first thing that got finished at the table. Portions are generous. My brother and I are both good eaters but we still left with leftovers. However, be careful with the take-out containers here; the kung pao leaked for some reason and the containers just felt a little flimsy in general. Luckily they were in a plastic bag, otherwise it would've gotten all over the car. Plenty of other things on the menu to try and I wouldn't object to coming here again, I just wouldn't drive all the way out specifically for it.

Great flavor though - they coated the flounder and fried it first, then put all that sauce on along with vegetables. The other dish we got was a stir fry green bean dish that was done well, crisp tender with a flavorful sauce. The restaurant needs a little TLC, the furniture is aging but overall nice ambience. Service was great, reminiscent of the service you would get in China, which is much more polite and hospitable than what you get in the states.
