I am so glad my friend saw this place and suggested we try it! We love soup dumplings and are always on the hunt to find a place where we enjoy them! We were not disappointed! The soup dumplings are a nice size and full of soup! They come hot and fresh, and aren't stingy with the filling either. We also had the scallion pancakes, empanadas, truffle fried rice, red oil and sesame sauce ravioli, custard buns, and crispy mochi sticks with brown sugar. Do not skip the truffle fried rice! I am very picky about rice in general and this had so much truffle flavor and the texture of the rice was perfect! If I wasn't so full, I would have eaten more! Every other dish we tried tasted fresh and was packed full of flavor! The only critique I have is that the custard buns could have been better! The actual bun was super fluffy and soft, but the actual custard was so overly sweet and had a gritty texture like the sugar hadn't completely dissolved into the custard. Hopefully that will improve. The crispy mochi sticks though? SOOOOO GOOD! The service was outstanding and our server was the sweetest! This restaurant is lucky to have a server like Pan. She was the best! This is our second visit to this location. We came for a late lunch, so it was quiet and uncrowded. We could pick a seat, unlike during rush hour. We like the truffle-garlic fried rice, but since they didn't have it, we ordered the egg fried rice instead. We think it's one of the best fried rice dishes in the area. It tastes great, even plain. The chicken soup dumplings are always a hit. They never get them wrong. The house special chicken roast was good, but given the price, we're not sure we'll order it again. Service is always quick and friendly, even on a busy day. The seats are comfortable and not cramped; they are well-spaced and quiet enough for a conversation across the table. This is one of my new favorite spots in the area to grab some quick dumpling and I do love how they have a really great menu and here are some items that I try. . I really like their yellow chicken deep fried crispy and it was really great and it was flavorful and didn't really need any sauces. . I got their soup xlb dumplings with shrimp and pork inside it was really juicy and flavorful and it's one of the better ones I had in a long time. . I also like their rainbow salad which is like Chow noodles which is clear and has your really nice vegetables and a peanut savory sauce. . We also got an order of their green beans and that was really good stir-fried Perfection and if you love your greens you got to get that. . We also tried out their lemon tea and their guava refresher and it was great but it was a little bit on the sweeter side. . I really like their pork chive dumplings and their spicy wonton if you love dumplings this is the spot to go to and I highly recommend getting there soup dumplings. . Just ate here today to meet up with a friend for lunch and I thought everything was solid. We got sat quickly and the restaurant wasn't too busy - maybe because it was after the lunch rush. My first thought coming in was that it was beautiful inside. I loved the contemporary look and the bamboo steamer baskets as decor. We shared their pork soup dumplings, steamed pork, shrimp, and chive dumplings, empanadas, string beans, and fried wontons. My favorite was the steamed dumplings. Careful when you bite into it though, the juice inside squirted out across the table on my first bite. There's a good bit of filling in there and the portions were great. Their menu has steamed and boiled dumplings, noodle dishes, rice dishes, and even a few desserts. We ordered: Cucumber Salad - Cut thick and marinated in vinegar with a dash of chili oil. Super refreshing (5 stars) Steamed Pork and Cabbage - Super soft, loosely-packed meat and thin, wheat flour wrappers. They were juicy, and taste even better with a dip in dark vinegar (4 stars). Boiled Chili Oil Pork Wonton - Tasty and not super-spicy with the same, loosely-packed pork filling. In hindsight I should have gotten another round of pork and cabbage dumplings since there is quite a bit of chili oil and sesame paste added. I recently stopped by M Dumpling, and we were so impressed! Everything we ordered was fresh, flavorful, and came out quickly. Some of our favorites were the chili oil wontons with sesame, soup dumplings, and truffle fried rice. The chili oil wontons had the perfect balance of spice and flavor, the soup dumplings were juicy with a rich broth, and the truffle fried rice was packed with umami and something I'd definitely order again. They occupy the space that used to be the Chinese restaurant. The name escapes me. The place has a modern clean design. Signage on how to eat a XLB at your table. Not oily but lacked flavor. Beef too lean. Noodles were thick and not slurpable. Hard to eat. The menu is simple with XLB 's and dumplings. The dumplings and XLB were good the other menu items were just meh. We did send back the hot n sour soup which was terrible. I am not a huge fan of water chestnuts and they were in the suimai and the spicy wontons so they werent my favorite but if you don't mind them they would taste decent. I've been wanting to try this place ever since I saw a reel and I was impressed. The restaurant is updated and modern and service was excellent. I was seated quickly and staff was friendly. They continuously walked around checking in on us. I had the pork soup dumplings, the steamed chicken corn dumplings, the minced pork dry noodle, the string beans, scallion pancake and for dessert fried mochi with brown sugar. All of the food came out hot and delicious. I wasn't sure what to expect for the fried mochi but it was good and had a nice chewy texture. [IN A NUTSHELL] ok dumplings, great onion pancake [VERDICT] - NOT APPROVED [RUN-DOWN] I came across the restaurant and it had good reviews. However, I had some issues with this restaurant. First of all they had a sign for understanding how to eat soup dumplings which normally would not offend me, but something about it felt wrong that they had to have a specific sign (outside of the menu) for that. Another sign was that the chili oil was not set out for people to grab on their own but needed to be requested. I also had to send back the soup dumplings because there was NO SOUP inside. And even when they gave us another one, there was one or two of them that did not have soup. Despite that though, this place isn't bad. I just think that there are other options because of the Bay. They also named the boiled dumplings as "ravioli" which did not sit well with me. Overall though, flavors were ok, not my top choice. They did mention that there was a new chef so I might give them another chance but most likely not. [SCORE & ORDER] OVERALL: 3.5/5 Red Oil Ravioli $12.99 (3.5/5) -basically a boiled dumpling with sesame sauce (not spicy) -These "raviolis" had water chestnut to them and not that bad in my opinion. But, I would like to say that adding sesame sauce to anything makes the dish already elevated. The dumplings lacked flavor and may have needed more salt. There is also a spice next to it, but the dumplings were not spicy at all. Honestly felt more like a wonton, so take that as you will. Scallion Pancake $8.50 (4/5) -I was actually surprised by this one. The scallion pancake was flakey, lots of onion, and came out soft and chewy. Again, this also needed more salt to draw out the flavors. The pancake was also crunchy and chewy which I think sometimes is hard to get from a scallion pancake. I would recommend getting this one. Original Pork Soup Dumplings $14 (3/5) -Like I said before, I was disappointed because the first round the dumplings all had holes and there was NO SOUP inside. I am not sure if they were punctured or if they left it steamed for so long. The flavor was ok, and again, needed more salt. The meat to wrapping ration was good. The interior was not very big but it is spacious, and also a comfortable space to meet, chat, and eat together. We noticed many customers were families when we visited on a week night. Also ample parking! We ordered the house special bone broth noodle soup, the original pork soup dumplings, the steamed sweet corn and chicken dumplings, and the steamed veggie dumplings. The noodles were fresh, and while the broth did not particularly standout, it was comfort food. Noodles also came with baby bok choy and beef shank. We enjoyed all our dumplings-the skin was not too thick-malleable while the filling and broth inside was flavorful. I also wanted to try the apple delight but it was not available. Servers were polite and responsive, and timing for food to be served was reasonable. When we first sat down, we noticed that the cup and spoon at the table was a bit dirty but when brought to attention, they quickly switched it for cleaner serve ware. Everything else looked clean. Today is Father's Day, so my partner got to pick where we dined. He chose M Dumpling, and it was our first visit there. Walking in, the whole restaurant felt fresh and new. As we took our seats, we noticed a thin film of food on the table. I grabbed a sanitizer wipe, and to our surprise, reddish-orange chili oil appeared on the wipe, which was hilarious because we couldn't see it with our naked eyes! We ordered the green onion pancakes, green beans, red oil, and sesame ravioli, xiao long bao, bone, broth, noodle soup, and custard buns. The crispy fried shallots and garlic pieces enhanced the flavor of the sauteed green beans. I think the green beans were my favorite dish tonight. The red oil and sesame ravioli didn't taste like anything until I had my third, which had a sesame flavor; the others didn't. Then it made sense that the first two dumplings did not have that brown sauce, which I now know was the sesame sauce. For the XLBs, you have to request ginger and hot chili oil, which isn't really hot because they don't automatically give it to you. The custard buns were grainy, which wasn't quite right, but at least they were tasty. Overall, it was a pleasant experience. Our waiter was super attentive, friendly and helpful. Found this new spot on Yelp and decided to give it a try for lunch on Saturday. Since just two of us, we ordered one appetizer, one order of Xiao Long Bao, and a pork belly over noodles. All three items tasted pretty good. The Xiao Long Bao would be even better if there is more soup in the dumplings. The rainbow salad sesame sauce was good but need a bit more flavor, but that's OK. You can add additional soy sauce or chili sauce as needed. As it was new, it was quite clean. There is this five star hotel type music playing in the background, giving it a very relaxed atmosphere. Was craving XLB and saw that this place opened up recently. The inside has a nice modern look to it and I'd say reasonable-ish pricing. Got the pork XLB, bone broth soup, and guava jasmine drink. Service was quick and friendly. The XLB was delicious, has a good soup base and nice fat-to-pork ratio. The skin was more on the slightly overcooked side but nonetheless delicious. The food was pretty good overall -- definitely above average. The ambiance was also nice, with a newly renovated interior and a creative accent wall made of stacked steam baskets that gave the restaurant some character. Service, however, was slow and felt a bit disorganized, which makes me think they're still working through the kinks of being a newer establishment. Unfortunately, our order was messed up multiple times. We originally ordered the pork and cabbage steamed dumplings, but the waiter forgot to put them in entirely. We also ordered the House Special Stir-Fry Noodles to go, but instead received minced pork noodles. To be fair, they did try to correct the mistakes, so I didn't want to be overly harsh at first. But in the end, the order was still botched again. The waiter had even repeated the dumpling order back to us correctly when taking it. English may have been his second language, but my mother -- who is fluent in Mandarin -- also placed the order in Mandarin, and somehow the dumplings were still wrong. Nice upgraded interior except it lacked softer surfaces. Should add dampening material to absorb some of the racket. Lounge music was loud in an attempt to mask all the noise. Unfortunately, turning up the volume undermined any soothing qualities of the music and just added to the din. Limited menu for soft opening. Tried their wonton soup and veggie eggrolls. One thing that needs work, the eggroll filling was oddly mushy. Also of note, they close for a break between 3-5 pm. Otherwise, great potential.
