    Beef chow fun

Update: Upon entering, like most tea houses, they ask what tea you would like. It's $2/pp, just so you know. Even though the menu still says $1.50/pp. The restaurant is spacious and brightly lit, and can seat many people during peak hours. We were here on a weekday, so it wasn't crowded. All patrons were seated away from each other. Service was ok, yet not too attentive. We had to flag them down for more hot water for our tea pot. ***OUR PICKS*** CHICKEN FEET ~ Good flavor and a bit spicy, but not overly salty like some other tea houses. 4/5 PORK AND PRESERVED EGG PORRIDGE ~ Too thin and watery and the egg was cooking in the porridge that the yolk turned a pale yellow color. I've always known the egg should be added right before serving. The pork was tough and wasn't something to eat, but only added into the pot for flavor. Bland tasting that it needed something like white pepper and soy sauce, but I only took a few sips and left the rest. I didn't want to drink soy sauce and pepper! 1/5 BEEF CHOW FUN ~ lots of wok hay, but there wasn't much seasoning to it. Tasted a bit bland like it was lacking soy sauce. 3/5 BEEF CILANTRO CREPE ~ these rolls were pretty soft and decent. It was rolled the old school way. Flavor was on point, though I like the new way of how some places make crepe rice rolls. But these were good as well. 4/5 CHINESE BROCCOLI ~ tender greens with oyster sauce on the side. Nothing special about this dish, but it was perfectly cooked. 4/5 COCONUT CAKE ~ I ordered this before, but this time, it wasn't creamy or reminiscent of the tea house coconut jello from years ago. It didn't have coconut milk in it or it was watered down. And it had a little bit of coconut extract rather than real coconut milk or cream. You could barely taste the coconut flavor. Sadly, it wasn't the same as when I first visited. But the texture was ok and the amount given was generous. Too bad the flavor wasn't there. 3/5 STEAMED TOFU SKIN ROLL ~ This was pretty good and tasty. Fungus and vegetables gave it a crunch. 4/5 Honestly, it's a hit or miss depending on what you order. We tried a few new dishes, but we were disappointed. Also, we got thirsty, so I'm not sure how much msg was in our food. Though oddly, some things lacked flavor. Unfortunately, I had to take off 2 stars from the initial review.

This restaurant was terrible in every aspect -- save your money and spend it elsewhere. I rarely go to dim sum places that disappoint and this place was a first. Not a SINGLE dish I ordered tasted good. The shrimp rice rolls just tasted off -- it just tasted so.... shrimpy and not fresh. The broccoli was poorly seasoned and also didn't taste too fresh. Our dumplings had awful presentation, and I'm not normally one to judge a book by its cover, but you can do that at this restaurant because the dumplings were as bad as they looked. Not very juicy, but unfortunately out of all the dishes we ordered this may have been the most bearable... The fried rice looked the most promising but it just didn't hit the spot. I was hungover when I ate here and this place made it worse. To top it all off, their service is awful. They offer tea but it's around ~$2 per person but they don't mention that when they ask. They automatically added gratuity on our party when we were just 5 people (restaurants normally do this at 6 people). We accidentally spilled some water and the waiter had a nasty attitude about it, grabbed our own napkins from the table to clean it up, and left the ground murky and dirty. The tables are cheap and so are the table cloths they use on top of the tables.

This is one of the closest dim sum restaurant besides Koi Palace and May Flower in Tri-Valley. Went there few times and friends decided to eat here in a recent weekday. Arrived at approximately 11:30am, not lunch hour yet so not too crowded. Dim sum quality is not bad, and the portion of the beef ball shocked me We have been chatting and chatting and thankfully they did not kick us out Highly recommended

Lively dim sum location with moderate prices. XS $5.35 S $5.95 M $6.95 L $7.95 SP $8.95 K $11 Q $12 We ordered 5 dishes: 1.BBQ Pork Noodle was loaded with plenty of BBQ pork & was only missing the vegetables that was pictured on the menu 2.Beef Flat Noodle Stir Fry- meat was semi tender & not a lot of noodles, there seemed to be more mung bean than anything, but flavor was on point 3.Chicken Feet- so good, tender, flavorful & satisfying 4.Sticky Rice in Lotus Leaf- was a little mushy but had a beautiful golden yoke to give it that rich taste 5. Baked BBQ Pork Bun- a little on the smaller size & nothing to rave about, so I wouldn't order it again. Pricing is a bit high, but the atmosphere is great

This is a very popular restaurant which serves Dim Sum. We came during non peak times a few times, to avoid the wait. The Lobster with e-Fu noodles is our favorite. It has a whole lobster on a bed of e-Fu noodles, which are lucky noodles with a very distinctive taste. Chinese Broccoli with Beef is our second go-to. Chinese Broccoli (Gai Lan) is rich in flavor and is a dark green leafy vegetable. Not just your boring American Broccoli Beef. The ambience is elegant with very nice tall backed chairs, tablecloths and high ceilings. The wait staff takes pride in their work, being very professional. I must come here whenever I am traveling through Dublin.

We originally planned to go to Fiery Shanghai but made the huge mistake of walking into KW Restaurant instead. Although we were seated immediately, things quickly went downhill. Seated at Table 44, we hadn't even ordered yet, and the service was already horrendous. We were given a menu that also served as an order sheet. Since it was our first time at the restaurant, we took some time to review the offerings. When I asked the server what was in the Steamed Siu Mai, she snatched the menu from my mom, mumbled something incomprehensible, and walked off. Offended, I told her my mom was still looking at the menu and politely requested another one since we were a party of three. She glared at me, visibly annoyed, and when I repeated my question about the Siu Mai, she slammed the menu down and curtly said, "Pork & shrimp," before storming off. She checked on us twice to see if we were ready to order, and her attitude got worse each time. When I handed her the menu, she grabbed it as if it were a chore. Later, when I asked about the price of a dish, her dismissive response was, "I don't know," before she walked away again. To make matters worse, the bill included a 15% service charge. Rewarding this level of rudeness? Unbelievable. I'll assume it went to the BOH staff because they deserve better than to have this server representing them. If you're in the mood for Cantonese food with a side of hostility, KW Restaurant is the place for you. As for me, I'll never be back.

After coming back here, a few years later, things have changed. The service was not good and the food was unfortunately nothing special.

We decided to try out King Wah for my mom's birthday celebration. Oftentimes, we see a lot of customers waiting in front of the restaurant when we pass by. To our surprise, we were quickly seated when we arrived at the restaurant. There are stiff competition for Dum Sum supremacy in the area. You have the venerable Mayflower and Koi Palace nearby, and my favorite shumai among all them which is Golden Sand Harbor. King Wah though is almost all dim sum, whereas the other restaurants mentioned have other Chinese dishes. We ordered the standard fare: Shumai, Chicken feet, Dried Scallop Chow Mien, Salt & Pepper fish, Shrimp Dumplings, my daughter's favorite Xiao Long Bao, and a bit more. For the taste? Its absolutely good. If I can quantify it, it is about as good as the other more prominent Dum Sum restaurants around. I reckon that they have the best chicken feet around, the chow mien and scallop fried rice is very tasty and the rest were pretty strong. I would comment though that their shumai was some steps behind the other restaurants aforementioned. Abi liked the xiao long bao good because each is individually in a foil container. As far as for the wait and accessibility, King Wah is 100% much better than the rest. For a lunch at Mayflower or Koi Palace, expect to allocate at least an hour before you get to your table. I would very much go to King Wah and have our lunch immediately rather than stand for a while waiting for table on the other dim sum restaurants. Our server was nice. I do like to add the their water cups are easily tipped. It least 3 in our party had their water cups tipped and so does the table beside us. Overall, I really like King Wah for good dim sum and especially fast seating.

If you're looking for great service, it's not the place. But if you're looking for good authentic dim sum, then it is! Price is average compared to other dim sum restaurants but food does come out pretty fast. Do get their rice rolls! It's mom-approved.

What is it? We wanted the pigs bun as pictured

We came on a Sunday. Some dishes was sold out already at noon! We were disappointed with a few dishes. We wanted the pigs custard buns but when they arrived, they looked nothing like the picture The egg tarts were small and had black dots all over The sesame roll was not the usual cold ones but they were hot! Very different than what we used to have. They added 15% tip to the bill already for a party of 4. It was quite busy and crowded with lines out the door.

Haven't been here for a long time. Surprised that there's no need to wait for a table at 12:30 pm on a Saturday afternoon. The quality of food is mix. In average, I think they are fine but not great. No service at all. If you want some dim sum in the area but don't want to wait for a table, King Wah is a good choice.

This is a great place to get dim sum. The service is fast. Dim sum will come out just within about 5 minutes of ordering it. They have a wide menu to choose from. The restaurant can feel packed since there is a lot of seating. However, I understand that they get busy on weekends. I recommend trying this place on a weekday when they are less busy.

Average dim sum spot with average service. The tripe and offal stew was fresh but a little more sweet than I like. The chicken congee was delicious. It was pretty busy for an early weekday lunch. Everything was seemingly nice and clean.

Google says they're temporarily closed, is that true?

I happened to walk by that plaza recently and saw they were all taped up. I thought they were out of business. (Which I'm not surprised, I didn't give them a high review 😅)… Read more

Do they do dim sum on weekdays?

    Yes!

Is dim sum served for takeout all day?

Last I checked, they were willing to make certain dim sums even after 3pm.

Are they taking phone calls during COVID-19? I tried calling but I didn't get an answer.

Take out with the same price. No discount

I've been trying to call to make a reservation. But the phone number keeps going to a fax machine? Is the restaurant officially opened?

Yes they are officially opened. Sometimes they are busy so they don't tend to pick up the calls. Also they only take reservations at night and not lunch.

We got takeout for a weekday lunch. This is our usual order now: Fresh sliced fish porridge, $14.95 - they always do a great job with this. This is the Cantonese equivalent of chicken noodle soup. The texture is just right, there are plenty of fish pieces, and the flavor is classic, right down to the ginger slivers. Shrimp rice noodle roll $9.50 - DH's favorite dim sum item. It is tender, and the shrimp are large and crispy. Comes with the classic soy-based sauce. Crab meat braised E - fu noodle $24.95 - DH's favorite noodle. This type of noodle is very soft and absorbs all of the flavors from the crab pieces and sauce. Great choice for seafood lovers! Shrimp silky egg chow fun $24.95 - little one's favorite. This one just has such a great combination of flavors. The velvety "gravy" really ties everything together and makes it go down smoothly. This one has flat noodles (cheung fun), like the classic beef chow fun. Comfort food for sure! Sautéed Chinese green $22.95 - this looks to be pan seared choy sum. Seems kind of expensive, but they actually pack a lot of greens into the box. They don't have the veggie clay pot anymore, Barbecue pork $15.95 - they do a pretty good job with this one too. The flavors are really good and interestingly enough it comes with these little beans on the bottom. Pork tends to be a little bit on the lean side. Portion size seems okay. We didn't get the beef chow fun because we didn't need that much food. But that one is a classic here and they usually do a great job with it too. Food is usually ready very quickly and everything was steaming hot. Staff are efficient and friendly. Give it a try; this place is consistently good and I highly recommend it!

We ordered the egg tofu with veggies, beef brisket, ham and egg fried rice, and the chicken with Chinese sausage clay pot. The beef brisket was the clear winner -- tender, flavorful, and they give you a generous portion. No tiny rationed pieces hiding in sauce. The overall flavor profile was balanced and comforting without feeling overloaded with MSG. The egg tofu was light and nicely seasoned, and the fried rice delivered that classic Hong Kong café vibe. The clay pot had great flavor too, though I personally prefer larger pieces of chicken with less bone. Just a texture preference -- seasoning was on point. Prices are reasonable, especially for the portion sizes. You leave full without feeling like you overpaid. Ambiance is casual and simple. One drawback during the summer: there were quite a few flies while we were dining. The doors were closed, so it was a bit puzzling and definitely distracting. Service is excellent, the bus boy is very attentive. Why 1 star? For the price I'm paying for, almost $10 per portion for 4 piece siu mai, I expected to have a "wow" food that will play a song in my mouth and not just ordinary dim sum.

Wouldn't mind coming back. The good stuff: - Pea sprouts and cordyceps in broth- I'd get this again although it was kinda pricy for a vegetable dish. I expected it to be a much larger serving. - Pan fried turnip cake- Is it me or have I never had a bad fried turnip cake? - Siu Mai- it didn't stand out for me but I'd still get it again. - Steam chicken feet with black bean sauce- I usually don't care for chicken feet but this was pretty good. My favorites: - Crab meat dumpling - Stuffed shrimp in donut w/rice noodle roll - Deep fried taro dumpling - Sticky rice & chicken in lotus leaf Pass: - Shanghai dumpling- there was no soup in the soup dumpling and the dough was a little thick. - Green onion pancake- this was disappointing, dense, dry and not crispy.

Really terrible Chinese food and poor quality control. I mean I've had bad Chinese food before but…read morerarely do I feel inclined to write a review venting about the items. I ordered 3 items from DoorDash today. Mango pudding, crab dumplings, and mapo tofu. The mango pudding was entirely missing from the order. The crab dumplings had zero traces of crab. They were filled with carrots, shrimp, mushroom. I searched carefully to see if there was even one sliver of crab meat, and I'm confident there was none. (The description was "Steamed dumplings filled with fresh crab meat") The worst thing about the "crab" dumplings sans crab was that they tasted terrible. Usually, regardless of dumpling type, I love them all. I am far from a picky eater. So making dumplings taste terrible is a rare feat. I powered through one of them but threw away the rest. The Mapo Tofu was unlike any Mapo Tofu I've ever tasted. It was a container of tofu pieces suspended in a thick sugary syrup. I couldn't eat them, they tasted so weird. I threw it all away. It's too bad because I was quite hungry and especially excited for the mapo tofu. I will not be ordering from here again.

It's an order-sit down and eat kinda spot, which is fine, but I like that the clientele seem to get that, so they don't linger. Perfect ambiance for this type of meal. First timers will feel very welcome, and will enjoy the thrill of eating "soup dumplings." The mushroom salad with its sautéed onion umami has grown on me, so it's ordered every time. My friend and I heard the same thing! However, when it came time to pay, I was charged full price. When I brought it up and even pointed out the worker, the staff claimed they had no idea what I was talking about. At that point, I just let it go but honestly, it didn't get any better from there. Every dish we ordered was bland, lacked flavor, and wasn't consistent at all. To make matters worse, I noticed something concerning near the cashier. They were refilling the water jug using what looked like a used plastic container that didn't appear clean or sanitary, which was really off-putting. Overall, this experience was disappointing from start to finish, both in terms of service and food quality.
