This is like a hidden gem for me. Food is fresh and tasty. The first time I went there, we were served by an elderly man. He was extremely friendly and gave us a homey feeling. I asked for hot water and it was served in a proper cup which I appreciated. This time, I went alone for a quick bite. Food was still great but the lady taking the order and serving gave a "couldn't care less" attitude. Hot water was served in plastic cup which I ended up not drinking. My family and I came here mainly for the fried shrimp cakes. The fried shrimp cakes here taste great! And when we visit this place, we always order extra shrimp cakes to take home. The staff are very attentive. They greet you once you enter, and they had us seated immediately after. They take drink orders first and come back in a little while with the drinks and check if you're ready to order. The place is also well lit and very clean. The decor of the place is inviting. **Overall: 3.5 stars ** Pho the perfect food to eat when it's cold out! Hot Pho's price point is right, and the flavor is as expected. I could have had the broth a little hotter, but other than that, everything was spot on: the portion for "medium" was good, tables were clean, food came out in a timely manner, utensils were self-serve. The staff were welcoming. The only downside was there was a problem checking out, so we had to wait til the cash register was fixed before we could leave. Solid spot for Vietnamese food in Dublin. My friend and I were looking for a quick dinner spot and this was perfect! We stopped by Saturday evening around 7:30 pm and it wasn't busy at all. The menu is pretty standard with a variety of Vietnamese dishes like pho, other noodle soups, rice and vermicelli plates, and a large selection of non-alcoholic drinks. For all the noodle soups, I appreciated you can choose the size, either a small, medium, or large bowl. I went with #24 - the hu tieu rice noodle soup, which was $12.25 for a small bowl. I liked everything about the noodle soup except for the boiled chicken breast pieces, which I found incredibly dry and flavorless. I ate maybe two pieces before I gave up, but unfortunately they put a lot of chicken in the soup... I ordered the hu tieu because I wanted fish cake and shrimp, but I wouldn't get this again. My friend got #50 - the grilled chicken with vermicelli ($14.95) and really enjoyed it. I ate a couple pieces of his chicken since my own chicken was so disappointing, and it was so good! Very juicy and flavorful. We were in and out of here in a little under 30 minutes, which was perfect for us as we were trying to make it to some stores afterwards before they closed. read more

Hot Pho is my go to Vietnamese restaurant. It is a hidden gem in Dublin. I love their grilled pork chop over rice with shrimp cake. I order this almost every time I am here. Egg rolls are pretty good too. I tried the grilled chicken over rice today. It served in tiny pieces and not served as a big piece of thigh that I expected. But it tasted good. It's a small and quaint place, the staff were super friendly. This is a legit Vietnamese cuisine spot, the egg rolls are on point and the broth was decent. The only reason I didn't give it more stars is because the broth was skimpy. The broth was just enough to cover the noodles, so my garnishes didn't even cook through and I had a lot of fatty meat. Hot Pho was the place my friend and I landed on after looking for a new restaurant (for us) to try that's also kid-friendly (or food her kids' would approve of). I would give this place a solid 3.5. I'd say it's pretty solid for Dublin that seems to lack a bit of variety, cuisine wise. Our party arrived around 6PM and thankfully, Hot Pho was located in a plaza, so no need to worry about parking. We shared their Fried Fish Cake appetizer and each of us ordered our own meal. For myself, I opted to try their Com Suon Bi (#32 Grilled Pork Chop & Shredded Skin w/ Rice). Our appetizer came fairly quickly and it turned out pretty good! Their fish cakes are pretty decent sized slices and they gave a fair amount. It's crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside. The kids seem to absolutely love this dish. As for the mains, the rice plates were kinda massive (or maybe it's the plate they used that's massive). They included a small side of plain veggies like usual. What kind of surprised me was how nicely cooked their rice was. Like each grain of rice looked like individual grains of rice and not clumpy. My favorite part of the dish would have to be the shredded pork skin though. There's a bit of pork mixed into it, but overall the pork skin is slightly chewy and gelatinous. It's almost like noodles that were just cooked and laid out to dry a little, but without the soup, haha, and it was not clumpy. Even my friend's kids seemed to enjoy it! Last but not least, on my plate - the pork chop. Initially, I thought my plate came with two pieces, but it was actually a giant, thin slab of pork, bones and all. It was full of flavor. I think the pork is a little dry because it's thin, but the sauce or marinade helps a lot! I also enjoyed my side of comforting soup. All in all, we enjoyed our meal here. A bit mediocre overall, but pretty solid for Dublin in my opinion. Service was okay. Friendly, but lacking interaction other than taking our order, serving food, and giving us our check. read more

The grilled pork didn't appear to be grilled as it wasn't grill charred or texture just didn't have grilled consistency; and the noodles weren't vermicelli. He liked his selection but the peanut sauce that came with the spring roll seemed a bit different than what we are used to, color was a much darker brown and the taste was off. Hot Pho isn't too bad! It's located in a big plaza so you could walk around before and after eating. It's also small inside, but not cramped. I came here to catch up with some friends and we all got pho. I found the service here to be fast and efficient. The food came out quickly after we ordered, but I did feel rushed when looking at the menu. I was trying to decide between the different meats in each pho dish they offered, but the waitress kept coming over to ask if we were ready. As for the pho itself, I thought it was good and the broth was SO clear but I thought it lacked that strong, comforting pho flavor you normally get in a bowl of pho. They gave a normal amount of meat with my bowl. I got a medium sized bowl but my friend got a small, which looked so tiny for the price. I've been to Hot Pho twice now first for the Pho Bo Ko, then for the Pho Biet Vo and both times felt like coming home to a meal, rather than just going out to a restaurant. My gf and I stopped by on Saturday feeling peckish for some pho. Being in the Bay Area, there's always a pho spot near you thankfully and we picked the closest spot near us. It's not terribly busy and has a ton of parking nearby as it shares the parking lot with other restaurants nearby and a large target. Walking inside too was great as they have the AC blasting and a tv set up. We ordered the combination beef pho, chicken pho, spring rolls, and an avocado smoothie. While we're full, it wasn't as satisfying as a lot of the food was either low sodium or didn't have that MSG kick that we're looking for. Let's start with our appetizer: the spring roll. The spring roll itself was fine but the peanut hoisin sauce needed a much saltier add to it. It didn't have the same savory salty taste I was looking for. As for the soups, they all tasted a bit bland. Thankfully, there were sauces on the side that you can add to have your food taste better. I typically only add the lime or lemon slice in but this needed a lot of help. Lastly, the avocado smoothie was not sweet at all and was really bland. The straw they offer with the smoothie is small also and hard to drink from. While the food is bland, the serving size here is very generous. Outside of the bland food, the service was quick and easy to access. They were attentive, clean, and easy to get to if you had any needs being such a small restaurant. Overall, I'll give hot pho a 3/5. While it's super easy for us to come here, the service is great, and the location is clean; I can't help but lower my rating to 3. You can tell by walking in and not immediately smelling the soup being made in the kitchen when the name of the place is called hot pho. Maybe next time, I'll try the vermicelli or rice plates. read more

I finally had the chance to check out Hot Pho, and it did not disappoint. I ordered a couple small beef phos to try. As the name suggests, it sure is nice and hot when it comes out. The broth was flavorful, noodles were cooked perfectly, and the toppings were fresh. I like that they offer S, M, or L, as I find that the small is usually my preferred serving size. Prices are also great! Really friendly and attentive staff, and loved the chill ambiance. The table is stocked with utensils and all the sauces you need, which was convenient, and everything is kept very clean. Wifey got #6 rare steak, tendon and tripe. She was hungry as she started eating right away so I lost my opportunity to snap a good photo. Doh! I liked my pho. The soup did not have an intense flavor, but was good enough and wifey said she didn't detect any MSG (or it was very little that there was barely any trace). She did notice that the noodles were sturdier - like they didn't break easily. Furthermore, the noodle did not absorb much of the soup. I'm not sure if that was an improved version of noodles or it was just way too processed and ... unnatural. Lol. We also ordered the fried fish cake. Not quite what we expected, but not too bad. I think wifey wanted the fried shrimp cake. All good - we'll get it next time. I like to support small local businesses and we certainly would go back to visit again.
