this place is so good!! i have gone here for years and its always been the best! i always get the salmon terriyaki bento and its the best! the teriyaki sauce it nice and comes with a scoop of rice plus some gyozas that r crispy and a lettuce under the salmon to add some veggies. would recommend! its always a hit in my family! read more

My son took us to Kaki Sushi for lunch a few weeks ago. They have a pretty comprehensive menu. My son ordered a bento box. His wife ordered a donburi bowl. My wife ordered sukiyaki and I ordered a 3 item bento box. I had gyoza, mixed tempura and chicken katsu with a salad, white rice and miso soup. I liked all three items in my bento: the gyoza didn't have a crispy bottom but good flavor, chicken katsu was tender with a nice deep fried coating and the tempura was fried nicely (light and crispy). My wife liked the flavor of the sukiyaki and the ingredients. My son's wife had a sashimi donburi with fresh fish and my son went with a three item bento beef teriyaki, mixed tempura and three piece nigiri. He said the Nigiri was fresh, tempura was fried nicely, not oily and the tempura was tasty. The Miso soup and salad were fresh and tasty. We will definitely go back. For a wide selection with fresh food and prepared after you order, give Kaki Sushi a try. Staff is very attentive. read more

I was looking for a bento box lunch special for myself while in the area and stumbled upon Kaki Sushi. I tend to shop nearby and have seen the restaurant but haven't been in the area during lunchtime until today. I did learn they also have lunch specials on Saturdays too, so I will be back with my husband next time. I walked in and ordered, and the lady was so nice and welcoming. My order was packed and ready to go without much of a wait, which was nice. It didn't take long, so it's very helpful for people on a time crunch. I got the 3 item bento box with katsu chicken, California roll, and sashimi. It also came with miso soup, salad, and rice. I got it to go, so I was happy the soup was included because I notice some restaurants don't always include soup on togo orders. The katsu chicken was light and seasoned nicely, and the katsu sauce tasted a little different than normal, so maybe it's freshly made. I wasn't a fan of the California roll only because I am not a fan of the whole roll chunks of imitation crab meat but it wasn't a full deal breaker. The sashimi tasted fresh with a nice, soft, buttery texture. I still think about their sashimi at times, it's up there with some of the best pieces of fish I've eaten. read more

This place is open late at night compared to other Japanese places. We were seated immediately, and service was quick. We ordered rainbow roll and the two dinner bento. The roll was smaller than I remembered but still good. Also, the bento was super cheap for the amount of food I got. The food itself though was okay. read more

Love the sakedon (salmon sashimi with rice) here! And it also comes with miso soup and salad. The fish was very fresh and the salmon slices were good sized slabs. It was $25 which seems to be around the typical pricing of the sakedon in the bay. The restaurant was pretty empty on a weekday but can't complain as there was no wait for seating and there's plenty of parking in the lot. read more

Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. The only things edible were the teriyaki chicken (surprisingly tender) and the gyoza. First time I've ever been served a sashimi platter with all of the same types of fish... Wtf is this ? And it was also all just prefrozened stuff that wasn't fresh. Had to smother in sauce to get it down and the horseradish (fake wasabi) wouldn't even mix into the soy sauce. The OMG roll we ordered was misleading and looked nothing like the photos. The other roll I ordered was just completely covered in spicy mayo and was all I could taste. Probably to cover the not so fresh fish. The spicy mayo wasn't mentioned on the menu otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it. Can we all stop smothering rolls in spicy mayo and calling this sushi? Japanese people everywhere and my taste buds continue to be appalled. The mixed tempura was almost $20 and they couldn't even give us two pieces of shrimp? My boyfriend loves shrimp so I told him to eat the shrimp and he had to spit it out cuz it tasted already spoiled. He loves everything shrimp and couldn't even eat it. This place was a sorry excuse for dinner. I couldn't eat almost everything I ordered. read more

I cannot believe we haven't written a review before this. We've been eating at Kaki Sushi for almost 10 years and it's our go to spot for Japanese/Sushi. The staff are so sweet and they've been incredible at accommodating my son's shellfish allergy - we eat here regularly and have never had an issue. The food is so good and quality is consistent. The fish is really fresh. It's our hands down most recommended Japanese spot in the Tri-Valley. They've recently remodeled the inside and it's really clean and cute. read more

The sushi is decent. The service is fine. They're friendly. Food comes out fairly quickly. The restaurant is clean, small, with Japanese decor. We ordered: Beef Udon Tempura Mix - good. Not greasy. Sukiyaki - Nice flavor but the beef was tough and had a funky taste. Not a lot of restaurants serve sukiyaki. Salmon Sashimi and Tempura Bento Box Salmon Sashimi - must be good because my hubby ordered more after he ate his bento box. Salmon skin hand roll - yummy! I love how the skin is crispy! read more

Went to Kaki Sushi with my Son. Always good food. I ordered the Pork Katsu. My son ordered the Sashimi Deluxe dinner. And we split a Spicy Tuna and Spider roll. Started with Miso soup and green salad. I think it's pretty hard to screw up miso soup. And salad was a salad. My tonkatsu was very moist and came with a small container of tonkatsu sauce on the side with 3 slices of Takuan (pickled daikon). Tonkatsu also came with a small bowl of rice. My son's sashimi looked fresh. A good amount of 4 types of fish (Saba, Ahi, Sake, and Hamachi). The spicy tuna roll was 6 pieces. And I think the spider roll had 5 pieces. Little smaller portions than at other places but tasty. Service was good. Servers are always very nice and courteous. Food came out promptly. Was kinda surprised that my Tonkatsu came out before my son's sashimi dinner. read more

Food was okay small portion. Felt unwelcome our waitress kept staring at us we felt rushed when we came in 2 hours before closing & just felt judged overall. Service was terrible very sloppy. Couldn't even bring out spoons when our soup was brought to us. She had the audacity to demand a tip don't come here read more

Not bad! Not the best sushi in the area, but not the worst and it boasts a large but homey old school environment with fresh fish. 4 rolls, 2 orders of nigiri, and hot tea to share came to $120 after tip. The winner of the rolls was the green dragon; the worst was the OMG roll - I couldn't even eat it. They dizzled a sweet, candy like chili sauce on top that I couldn't enjoy. The waitress was rushed but attentive, the restaurant was empty on a late Sunday night. We came for a work dinner, and my peer's culture is very conservative so it was mildly horrifying that 25% of the sushi rolls are named something implying a wink wink nudge nudge- not sure if "climax" is necessary as a roll name, but alas. read more

Bland and small. That's how I describe the rolls. Fish just didn't taste that good and we had a wide variety. The chirashi bowl was ok but even then the sushi rice was off - it was very clumpy and poorly prepared. Service was good but doesn't make up for their food. read more

The food is really good. Fish salad is really good. Also we really like the hot pot using abalone.

I love Kaki. This is our spot when craving sushi and udon. We always have the same server, a woman, I wish I knew her name but she is so sweet and attentive! The food is delicious. The restaurant is always clean and in order. Fresh yet quick! read more

Kaki Sushi - 3 item Bento. Salmon teriyaki, mix tempura, and sashimi - Japanese Near Me - Pleasanton, California

Kaki sushi is a great restaurant with a cozy ambiance. We ordered 3 rolls and a fried squid ring appetizer. Food came out quickly and hot. The service was great as well since we always felt attended to. It started to get busy by the end of our meal but it was nice since we didn't feel rushed out the door to make room for others. I will say that the restaurant itself is on the smaller side but we did sit closer to the front of the restaurant so I'm not sure the actual size of the restaurant if it would be good for larger parties. read more

I think this is always a solid place to go when you're in the Tri-Valley and looking for good sushi with a little to no wait time. I definitely have my favorites that are further out or always have long waitlists, but if you're craving sushi last minute, you can always count on Kaki! The service is always great, the staff is very attentive and friendly! So it's still a solid choice for those reasons. read more

My thoughts: This is a sushi restaurant that is located in the Pleasanton area through out the up and down of the pandemic . And any restaurant can survive the harsh pandemic business world is A OK in my book. Plus they do serve good Sushi. Here is my scoring card for this restaurant: 1) Location: ( 5 Point ) - Great location for customer to see and find. Great parking for street parking and parking lot parking. 2) Decoration : (3 Point) - They still have the original decoration. Clean but nothing special. 3) Price: ( 3 point)- The price is average , but still a little bit pricey compare to other same stars and type food they serve 4) Quality and Taste : ( 3 point)- The quality is ok, food taste is ok and portions are ok. The service was average , didn't go above and beyond customer service. 5) Type of cuisine standard : ( 4 point) - The style of Japanese food they serve is average. Not bad! The presentations were similar to most Japanese restaurant.Don't have any unique. And some dishes did have slightly modify to cater the customer's need Overall it's not bad and I thinks it's great to give it a try and let me know what you think. This place is awesome!!! No frills but consistent yumminess. As you're seated, you always get edamame and miso soup. I always pass on miso soup at other places but for some reason it tastes perfect for me here that I'm washing my edamame down with miso!! Service is friendly. It's small and cozy. I haven't had anything I didn't like here! fresh spicy scallop roll was nice and cold. Their wasabi was fresh, everything really good. They top every visit with complimentary green tea or mango ice cream. read more

Kaki Sushi is located off to the side of semi-busy plaza. There is some parking right out front, or you can park a bit further away in the main part of the plaza. I ordered to go and went to pick up, the employee seemed a bit confused about my order, until another employee came and figured it out. The employees were not friendly/welcoming, maybe they are nicer if you are dining in? I ordered my usual sake maki and sake nigiri with an order of kani nigiri. I tried to explain in to the first employee about my order of kani nigiri - I asked for imitation crab and was trying to explain to her what I was looking for versus what I got, but she did not understand - so I just took the L and left, but ended up coming back multiple times because they did not give me any soy sauce packets and utensils as well. For the taste of the sushi, it was bland, almost tasteless, I felt like I was eating rubbery salmon that is not fresh. I had to drench my sushi in soy sauce for any taste to it, but it was way too salty. read more

Small and nice sushi place in Pleasanton-- I highly recommend! The owners are super nice and friendly, especially if you sit at the bar area. The interior is also nice and quaint, and I love how it's all decorated like a Japanese restaurant. Quality of the sashimi is superb and I love how each piece of sashimi is thick and fresh. We ordered the special Chef's choice sashimi platter, and we ordered an additional place of salmon sashimi because it was so good. They also have a variety of appetizers to choose from. I highly recommend the shisaimo, baked mussels and the chicken karaage. Love how everything isn't salty but flavorful and the price for all the appetizers is very reasonable. If i'm in the area, I will definitely be visiting this place again. Highly recommend! read more

Not the worst sushi I had. The rice had no flavor at all and the rolls are smaller than the norm. Not only are the rolls small, even the chicken katsu bento was small. It would not even fill up a 5 year old, literally. Too much batter and not enough meat. We had to supplement something for the 5 year old. I'm a big fan of salmon sashimi and I couldn't even taste the salmon in the orange blossom. The only positive is the pricing, average sushi pricing, especially in this area. read more

This is our secret go to spot for sushi. It's hidden in the back amongst a bunch of Indian restaurants and markets. Right next to the I dont know how they survive Mountain Mike's Pizza. We recently came back for the 47th time last night and didn't realize I never did a review. The food here is always fresh, and I almost always get the sushi and sashimi combo at $25. Comes with standard fare nigiri and 4 pieces of sashimi with some cali rolls. The sashimi is dynamite. See the pics. The kids usually get the katsu. Crispy fried goodness. We normally get some kinda free appetizer, like hamachi kama. But this time we didn't. Cutting costs maybe? Staff is very friendly, but the young kids have trouble with my alcohol orders at times. Long story. It ain't cheap, but good sushi and cheap don't go together. Family of 4, with a big beer, $110 with tip. Oh and this place is a hit with the richer folk. There are regulars here, and on this night, the parking row was filled with a Mercedes GL AMG ($126k starting), a Tesla Model S, and a Maserati 4 door coupe. I'm sad to report that they didn't leave me any room to shoehorn my 2014 Honda Accord. read more

We came up to visit my hubby while he is up here working, and I needed to redeem myself for the horrible sushi experience we had the last time we were in Livermore. Mission accomplished! I jumped on Yelp, looking for a good place, and although it wasn't the first one that popped up, it was close and had good reviews. We came on a Thursday night, and it was not too busy when we arrived and we were grateful for that. As soon as we walked in we were greeted and escorted to a table. The service was amazing from the beginning! So genuinely sweet and attentive from both the guy and girl who were serving us. I ordered drinks and edamame while my hubby took the kids to the restroom, and everything was at the table before they returned. We ordered 2 Hamachi rolls, a dragon roll, a regular rainbow roll, a spicy rainbow roll, a chefs special sashimi plate, and teriyaki chicken. We were finishing the soup and salad as the food arrived and it was perfect timing! The kids didn't even have time to get restless! Haha! The fish was very fresh and tasty. I love that there wasn't too much rice in the rolls, and instead of a regular california roll in the middle, it was another piece of fish and vegetables. Perfect! My son ordered the dragon roll, and before I could ask how it was, he had half of it gone! Haha! Both servers were very accommodating and attentive. It was nice because they weren't overbearing where they came over too much, and they weren't non-existent. They found that perfect balance. It was a very enjoyable experience. Good food, great service, clean restaurant... I wish we were able to come all the time. This will definitely be a place we frequent when we visit up here. One thing I especially loved was when we were walking out, my toddler stopped and said good bye to all the sushi chefs and each and every one of them stopped what they were doing to say a quick and genuine good bye to her! I can't wait to come back the next time we visit! read more

Came here for dinner on a Sunday night. In all honesty, we were planning to go somewhere else but decided to pick something closer to home. I'm so glad we did because this place was fantastic! Tucked away in a plaza next to Walmart Neighborhood Market, this is a small establishment with some A1 food! My wife and I got some rolls to share and ended up getting tempura ice cream for dessert. The Kaki Roll was delicious and very deserving of the "signature" designation. I can appreciate rolls that are light and airy but still full of flavor. It didn't have an overwhelming amount of rice so your palette has the chance to capture every last texture and taste. We were very pleased with the service. Our water glasses were never empty. We were checked on just the right number of times. Overall, an extremely pleasant experience. We will definitely be back! read more

I have an impromptu lunch with my mother in law. I have luncheon bento with sashimi (2 tuna + 2 salmon) and salmon teriyaki. Sashimi is fresh! serve with correct room temperature (slightly chill). Salmon pieces are buttery. I really really like it. Next time, when I come, I would order their sashimi items For togo: Bento with tempura and salmon teriyaki Washington roll - salmon with sliced lemon and tuna+ avocado. My cousin and I call this place "cheap sushi." By that we mean great value: it's really solid and not too expensive. It comes with free edamame and usually ice cream at dinner. Parking: There is a few spots straight in front but this is part of a larger parking lot. Food: Hamachi lover roll (4/5): favorite roll I tried. Hamachi ratio to rice was great and hamachi had a good flavor. Green tea (4/5): the provided green tea was go Three item bento (3.5/5): chicken Katsu was crispy. The dipping sauce was a bit different from what I'm used to. The chicken teriyaki was a slightly drier but not to a point where it's be a deal. But the flavor was there. The tempura felt only 70% fried. Chuck Norris (3.25/5) : not bad Someone in my party tried the Lion King roll and mentioned only part of it was baked and was not a fan of the roll.
