The KatsuMe sushi is under new management. They have Monday to Saturday $14 lunchtime bento box specials. Their sushi and hand rolls are delicious and I love the freshness of the raw fishes and the thick cut . They are also famous for the Kate's cutlets , teriyaki and Korean specialties. The restaurant has dine in , take out and delivery options . They also have good poke ( crawfish salads ) , baked mussels and gyoza . It is clean and well maintained, good service with good food . Thus is a great place for lunch and dinner .

First visit to this neighborhood sushi spot in Pleasanton and I'll be back. It looks newly renovated and it's nice and clean inside. We were welcomed in a seated quickly. I like to try the Chirashi at every Japanese restaurant I visit. Great price at $27! The fish was fresh and the tuna was especially delicious. Sushi rice was well seasoned. I'll definitely be back to try one of their many rolls.

Yummy hole in the wall sushi spot. I came at the end of their lunch hours, got seated quickly and served up right away I ordered edamame, their Philadelphia rolls and a deep fried California roll. All were tasty and a great value I will definitely be back for more

    Takeout Nigiri Mix (Jan 2026)

Tried KatsuMe Sushi for the first time via a delivery service, so can only comment on their takeout food, but based on what we had and perusing the rest of their menu, we are planning to get over to the restaurant in the near future to eat in. Regarding their takeout, the food arrived nicely packed and presented. The only non-sushi item was their fried gyoza which included a well-seasoned pork filling and soy-based dipping sauce. Among the sushi dishes, the nigiri mix was the standout, with a fresh tasting assortment of 8 pieces of nigiri per the chef's choice. We enjoyed two types of maguro, hamachi, salmon, harami, whitefish, ebi and unagi. The California roll was excellent quality as well, and we enjoyed the Three Amigos roll (raw tuna, salmon, hamachi, cucumber and avocado wrapped by rice and topped with spicy mayonnaise and tobiko) as well as the Dancing Ebi roll (shrimp tempura and cucumber wrapped in rice and topped with unagi sauce and tobiko). The Three Amigos roll was the best of the three rolls we tried. Prices are on the slightly higher side but on par for the area. Overall, we had an excellent experience with their takeout food!

I was in this shopping center and their $14 bento box banner caught my eye. After checking them out on Yelp I decided to eat lunch here. I'm really happy I did! One of the better bento boxes I've had. It also includes miso soup. Great value for the quality of the food. I got chicken teriyaki and shrimp & vegetable tempura. The tempura was actually the best I've had; really crunchy and not at all oily. The service was great! My hot tea was repeatedly refilled. In addition, I really enjoyed the ambiance; very chill and relaxing. What a great deal all around :)

Flyer for what looks like LA Galbi! Gonna try it at a future visit :)

We decided to check out this new restaurant for lunch. It's in the same complex as Gene's, closer to the donut place. Parking was very easy in the shared lot. It wasn't busy, as we got there as they opened, but a few more patrons trickled in. The restaurant is extremely clean and we sat in a comfy booth. Employees were super friendly and helpful. One of our favorite Korean-run Japanese restaurants doesn't exist anymore, so DH was happy to see this one pop up. He ordered his favorite - the "Korean chirashi" ($23.00) - and it did not disappoint! It's basically different kinds of sashimi bits mixed with toasted sesame oil on top of shredded lettuce and rice, and finally topped with microgreens and masago. Fish was very fresh and it seemed like a good blend. Comes with a fantastic Korean chili sauce on the side in a squeeze bottle. Give it a try, it will also become your fave! ;) The next best thing was the Tonkotsu Ramen ($20.00). Soup base was flavorful and the pork slices were tender and coated with a soy-based glaze. Noodles were pretty good, medium firmness. There weren't a lot of toppings, but I prefer my ramen simple like this. The soft boiled egg was perfectly cooked. The Island Roll ($18) was okay, but we did catch some strange after-taste. The flavors didn't mesh well. Perhaps the salmon was a little musty or preservative taste from the shrimp? We would need to try some of their other fish items to get a better sense of what to order. Often, the sashimi items use better ingredients than the rolls. I would say the value was about average for the area. Seemed pricey for lunch, but we were totally stuffed after eating here. It was overall a very positive experience and we would love to return to try their katsu, once their special fryer arrives!

We used to come here but we just found out that it's under new management. They still serve Japanese food and I'm not quite sure if they serve the same menu as before. I ordered the Double Salmon and the Lion King. The price is reasonable and the service is excellent. They serve a big portion and they are both delicious. I liked sushi and I enjoyed the meal that I ordered. I will come back and try their other menu.

They are not quite ready. My order was missing items (soup and rice) from bento box. It was a to go order so by the time food was on the dinner table, it was too far and too late. The wait was longer than they said. The waitress gave edamame for the extra wait. This new place took over Sozo sushi. While eating, I found a piece of black plastic thin like hair. They need better attention. They need more time to perfect things.

Sozo was our go to sushi spot and we were so sad when they closed. But we've found our new favorite at KatsuMe Sushi which took over Sozo. The menu has changed a bit and there are more Korean offerings which I haven't tried yet. I've only had their sushi with has been excellent. The fish is fresh and the rolls are huge. We were also happy to see some familiar faces from Sozo :D

I wanted to try this place and give it a chance since it's the closest sushi spot to my house, but I honestly don't understand why it has such high reviews. I ordered takeout and got the katsu along with a couple of rolls, and the portions were disappointing--especially the katsu, which came with very little rice and salad. The rolls were just okay, but there was an excessive amount of tobiko on top, to the point where it felt overwhelming rather than balanced. Maybe other menu items are better, but based on this experience, I'm not sure I'll be returning.

OMG yum! I got the pork katsu for 20 bucks and you get a pretty big piece of katsu. If you are in between pork or chicken get chicken. The chicken was super juicy from the pieces my roommate let me have and it was so much better than the pork. Either way it was really good and service was great. We went around 7 on a Monday so it wasnt crowded and plenty of seating as well. Over all would come back and it s a cute place since they just opened.

Parking was plentiful in the strip mall shopping center. We started with the Garlic Edename. The sauce was garlic and maybe ponzu sauce with sea salt. When you run your teeth down the bean you scrap the sauce too that is yummy. I also had the Mixed Tempura which came with 2 shrimp, a crescent squash, 2 sweet potatoes, a carrot, a broccoli, and onion ring. I thought their dipping sauce was one of the best I have ever had. Thank you, we will be back for lunch for $14.00!

I don't know how this is possible.. but Katsume keeps getting better and better. Not only is it the best sushi in the east bay, the customer service is ELITE. The owners clearly instill the importance of customer service to all their staff. I always feel so welcomed and they treat me like family every time I step foot in the door. New addition to the palette: tried the Tuna Tar Tar which was visually gorgeously presented of course. It was absolutely DELICIOUS! If you're looking for a light, quick app or meal definitely consider the tuna. Will be back soon

I came here for lunch just as they opened and was seated immediately. You scan a QR code on the table for the menu, which was overwhelming. There are so many categories and choices within each category: sushi, ramen, bento boxes, hot dishes, oysters, small plates, and more. We chose from their Lunch specials: + Nigiri lunch - you get 6 nigiris and several maki rolls (chef's choice). All were so fresh and delicious, and beautifully presented. + Chirashi Don - freshly cut fish, roe, and a few veggies over perfectly cooked sushi rice. + Soup & Salad - this came with our lunches. The miso soup was very good and not salty like most. The salad had a vinaigrette dressing with an herb I can't put my finger on. It was very refreshing. The lunches were in the $30 range, which is a bit steep. I'd definitely come back here for celebrations.
