Upon arriving the small parking lot was already full, but I was lucky enough to able to find a parking spot. Ordered chirashi as this is my favorite which I normally order in Japanese restaurants. Lunch serving comes a bit small, choice of fish was not a lot, but it's fresh and sushi rice made well. Service was good, servers would come and check on us periodically and were very nice. Senro Sushi is located in downtown Pleasanton. There is a parking lot here, but it may be hit or miss because this is a busy area. Friendly and welcoming employees here as always. The service is usually pretty efficient and prompt, but the last couple of times, it has not been. Per usual, we ordered a variety of cooked and raw sushi rolls. Unfortunately, the last 2 visits, the rolls tasted off. The cooked rolls had a weird aftertaste to it, while the raw rolls were a bit warm like it had been sitting out and tasted a bit off. The 1st of our last 2 visits, we both felt a bit sick, but decided to give them another chance because we had so many good experiences and it may be just an off night, and on our last visit, we both ended up with pretty bad food poisoning. California Roll - 5/5 The California Roll was made perfectly with just the right amount of ingredients and rice. Very delicious. The 3 item Bento has a nice variety of selections to choose from. The Teriyaki beef is tender, not dry. The Teriyaki chicken was a little on the dry side, but still delicious. If you select tempura , you'll get shrimp and 6 veggies all cooked and fried to perfection. If you select sashimi, you get the chef's choice for day. The fish was delicious, and tasted fresh, not overly fishy. Overall, we enjoyed our experience for lunch at Senro Sushi. Originally we were supposed to go for Mexican food in downtown Pleasanton but it was already too late in the evening and the restaurant would be closing so we went for Senro instead. This is my first time having their sushi. First time I came here, I had a bento which was delicious. This time around I wanted to try the sushi. I don't want to go into any detail of the sushi because frankly, I did not enjoy it. I ate it because I was hungry but if I'm being critical, there is a lack of flavor to the rolls. We ordered the hot night roll, spider roll and dragon roll. The dining room was spacious and they had outdoor seating as well Service: excellent. This is where the restaurant shines. The staff are friendly and attentive. They even gave me the remote to change the channel to the niner game! We won btw lol anyway, that is awesome service right there. I believe Senro is a chain so while I probably won't be going to another one, I do see they have their regulars and people coming in so that is nice. I just wish the food was better. read more

This review is based on a takeout order. With that being said, I can't rate the service or ambience but as far as the food goes I would give it a 3/5. I typically don't like to order sushi to go because it's not as fresh, but my girl and I didn't feel like going out lol. The rolls were pretty decent nothing super special about it. Really wanted to like this place more and give it a stronger review, but the more we thought about it and tried to enjoy it, the harder it was to do. A nice family-run-vibes sushi restaurant in the Dublin/Pleasanton area. Parking can be challenging but there are a few nearby lots and street parking that is sufficient. The prices are OK for sushi - not terribly expensive but reasonable. Plenty of good drink and beer/sake selection. The sushi and sashimi was absolutely disappointing. We ordered the "gourmet nigiri" platter, and it was a platter of poorly assembled salmon, tuna, yellowtail, a few unagi, and some snapper. Not very creative and felt like something we could get from Safeway. The rice was falling apart when picked up, and the proportions of rice/fish were disappointing, especially for the cost of the platter. The specialty rolls are made for... a more westernized palette. Plenty of funny named rolls with lots of "spicy" this-or-that, tons of sauces, plenty of baked/deep fried rolls. This usually compensates for lower quality fish, ingredients, and/or prep. If you like these kinds of rolls, more power to you. If you like a more authentic and delicate nigiri/sashimi delivery, this will be highly disappointing, unfortunately. read more

Came back with here my second time and loved it just as much! We had the Shelby roll which if you love tuna this is a good one! And I personally love that it comes with real crab. **COVID REVIEW** We ordered through DoorDash and it took about 1.5 hours to arrive. We ordered crazy horse, lion king, daredevil, and agedashi tofu. We were pretty disappointed with the foods, it didn't taste fresh and was just drenched in sauce. On a better note, the agedashi tofu was good! The tofu wasn't dry and they had enough sauce for the tofu. We sat on their patio on the park side and got an added bonus ... live music from Music in the Park performers (Fridays at 7pm during the summer). Senro has the largest variety of rolls I've ever seen - traditional and many that they created. We had the TJ and Volcano? I can't remember at this point, but they were both pretty good. The garlic edamame was charred with garlic and perfect for sharing. The best part was pre-pandemic pricing! Thank you for not passing on all the additional costs to your customers! This sushi restaurant has two locations- one in Pleasanton and one in San Ramon. I've been going to the Pleasanton location which is located in the downtown area. The decor is different ( brick wallpaper) and temperature wise this restaurant is colder than most so you'll want to wear a coat. Service is friendly but can be somewhat slow even if the restaurant isn't very busy. So why do I eat here ? They serve generous portions if you order sashimi - and it's very fresh. Gyoza is tasty and the sauce on the side is sweet (not vinegary). The cherry bomb is a fish covered rice ball covered with various spicy sauces and it's very tasty yet not too spicy. The waitress recommended the titanic role which has tempura shrimp inside and is covered with fish and spicy crab and unagi sauce. It's a big tasty roll that might require two bites to eat each piece. My favorite here is the Hawaiian poke which comes with macadamia nuts, seaweed salad, raw tuna, raw onion, and the right balance of spicy sauce which doesn't taste too spicy to start but has a kick later. I've not been disappointed with anything I've had here but it's mostly been sushi. As I read some of the negative reviews it's mostly about the cooked dishes. I have other favorite places in town for udon and sukiyaki so I'd never order them here. So if you're a fan of fancy rolls, sushi and sashimi you should definitely check this place out ! read more

I ordered three lunch rolls to go. Two salmon rolls and one tuna roll. The tuna was grey and looked/smelled unappetizing. When asked about the grey tuna the staff told me that it was normal and it is just the edge cut of the fish. I have been eating raw fish for +10 years and have never been served grey tuna. I was not convinced by the staff member and requested a refund. I wouldn't post a review if the staff member had just owned up to the mistake and not try to sell it to me. The health code violations on Yelp state that this restaurant violated several codes- of which include temperature control regulations and proper food handling. I didn't like the fresh crab meat they used as it was a little too flaky and lacked some flavor. Tempura - this was good. Very flakey and crispy, just the way tempura should be made. Shelby Roll - spicy tuna, crab, tuna, hamachi and avocado with special sauce. This was tasty as the sauce was creamy and sweet enhancing the flavor of the roll. Happy Hour - soy paper, spicy tuna, crabmeat, shrimp tempura, cucumber and sauce. This was excellent. Red Dragon - spicy tuna with tuna on top. Not my favorite as the tuna was overwhelming to have double portion on every bite. Also, didn't like the chunks of sriracha that wasn't mixed evenly. Rainbow - ca roll topped with all sorted fish. This was just ok because I wasn't fond of the ca roll. Ecstasy - spicy ca roll, topped with tuna, salmon, hamachi and eel. This was pretty good. A different flavor in every bite. I came across Senro while driving down the Main Street and decided to give it a try. This is the perfect definition of a local town sushi house! The atmosphere is extremely home-like. Everything from the interior brick walls to the cabin-like exterior just screamed "home" to me. It felt like I was having dinner at a friend's house as opposed to dining at a restaurant. I absolutely loved the homey environment and inviting atmosphere. When I first walked in, the place was relatively empty. However, it filled up quickly with locals later on. The menu consists of your typical Japanese fare and was moderately priced. I ended up ordering their 3-item combo with chicken teriyaki, gyoza, and their California roll. A pretty basic order, but they executed this very well! The miso soup was really delightful. The broth was flavorful and had just the right amount of heat. Their salad was especially refreshing! I could tell that the iceberg lettuce was fresh by the crunch and I absolutely adored their salad dressing. The gyoza was spot on! It had that perfect boiled to deep fried ratio and still remained nice and tender internally. The chicken teriyaki was decent but lacked in flavor and could have benefited from more teriyaki sauce. The California rolls were my favorite! Great size and a good crab to rice ratio. They used real crab and fresh avocado in the center; a total weakness of mine when it comes to the basic Cali roll. It tasted like the chef had literally rolled it 2 seconds ago, but it didn't fall apart at all. Their California roll made me want to try out their other rolls! For something as simple as a Cali roll, I felt that it really stood out above the crowd. Would love to try out their other rolls when I'm in the area again.
