No leftovers..

BBQ 85 opened where Urban Ka Re House was. Perimeters similar with new colorful themes, not food pics. A flatscreen. Fewer tables. Karaoke. Ordered by QR code. Waiter brought the water, the food, the cheque. Surfing the 'net otherwise. Offerings (Northern Chinese): skewers, appetizers, salads, one soup, drinks..Sparse menu-just what's available. Ordered. Food came 15 minutes later. Bites: lamb skewers (4/9.99) -seldom eat skewers. Wasn't disappointed. Lamb tender, juicy fresh, cumin flavored. -some meat stuck to skewers. Literally had to tear it off with a violent jerk of my head. Chopsticks weren't helpful. Lanzhou Beef Noodles (13.99) was a special @$10. -major fail. Only savor broth superb. Not sure if meats the source of flava. Noodles not hand pulled nor al dente. Sightly soggy. At best, fresh commercially sourced. Plentiful -a few thin slices of radish and 1/2 stalk of sliced green onions irrelevant to taste. -several slices of chewy beef ala beef shank, not tender nor juicy. Bland. Should have spoon it out & tossed it with the yummy chili oil, creating my own appetizers. 3.5 stars no repeat. Affiliated with 85 Dumpling, Yayume in San Ramon.

Excellent skewers! It tastes like the skewers back home.

Excellent skewers! It tastes like the skewers back home. It has a good charcoal flavor and seasoning. The beef noddle soup is very flavorful too. I will be back again.

BBQ 85 is a small modern restaurant. It has smaller tables with bench and chair seating. They do have a large table in the middle for a large party of 12. Music video is playing in the on a large tv in the middle of the restaurant. One men & one women's restrooms. We stopped in for a light nibble on this cold night. Parking is plentiful but can be challenging during peak hours. Order via QR code on the table. The service was nice and friendly. Lanzhou Beef Noodle - the broth was light, clear, yet simple. Maybe a bit more seasoning. The noodles were soft so you could slurp them up easily. Pork w/Veg Dumpling - served with a soy vinegar dipping sauce. The boiled dumplings were meaty.

Super authentic, very yummy spot. Loved everything we got here - beef skewers, bread on skewers, red braised pork soup and Lanzhou noodles were all so good! The guy is super nice even though my mando is bad. He was really helpful in picking food! The vibes are excellent here. I was definitely singing along to every karaoke song - shoutout to every millennial who has 童活 memorized!

We seek out authentic eateries where owners proudly share their passion and beliefs. Their lamb skewers are cooked to perfection -- the spices infused into the meat give a subtle, perfectly balanced spicy kick.

The skewers are tasty and flavorful. Their skewer selection is smaller compared to other shops I've been to in South Bay, but good enough to satisfy my cravings! I recently tried their Lanzhou beef noodles and would NOT recommend this dish. I do enjoy a bit of MSG in my food but this had way too much MSG. We had a hard time finishing it. Beef rolls isn't bad, but their friend 88 bao bao next door does much better beef rolls. If you want something other than skewers, the shrimp with egg and chive dumplings are pretty good. Service is decent during week days. On weekend during peak hours, service might be slow. I appreciate that they open late, since not many restaurants in Dublin do. Overall a convenient late night spot to grab Chinese skewers in the area.

Beef skewers

Very disappointed in the portion sizes for the price. Portion sizes were WAYYYYYY too small for the expensive pricing. We got two skewers orders, fried rice, and the Lanzhao Noodle soup which came out to $54. The only good thing was the fried rice but even the portion was a little small for the price. The skewers shocked both of us based on how small meat they gave us. $10 for only 4 sticks the size of half a chicken nugget :/ On top of that the skewers didnt really have any taste but just chili oil. The noodles were big but extremely bland and tasted like cilantro water, literally cup of noodles would taste more seasoned :| Personally, I would not come back here bc even I didnt get full off of my food.

We came home late from an event and wanted to eat something light, we found BBQ 85. You order via QR code, server cannot speak English but it didnt affect the experience, the QR code is all you need. He was also nice to make sure we have water and served everything on time. Everything we ate is really flavorful - but the dumplings is my fave! I can eat 2 orders of that - juicy, seasoned well and dough is not overpowering. The skewers especially the pork belly is tender and would order it again!

Nice little spot to grab lunch. My recommendation is to research what you like and don't like before ordering. There isn't much for a description of what's on their menu, only photos and its name. Food had unique flavors, but satisfactory. There were no condiments on the table and when we asked for some, we got kind of a blank stare and a different explanation to our question. So we just ate it and enjoyed our dining experience as best we could. The fried pork on skskewers was like leather. The squid was a bit salty and the dumplings were interesting in it's layers of unique flavor. The beef noodles by what my daughter said, was a bit more bland than she wanted and that's why we asked for table condiments. BBQ 85 isn't a bad place, but it probably will not make my "must come back to" list!

A great place for skewers and some light drinks! I came with my family and all the food was delicious. The skewers were probably the best I've had, super juicy and the amount of seasoning was just perfect. It does seem to be short staffed as the food came out pretty slowly. Additionally, it seems the staff don't speak much English so that's something to keep in mind and be respectful. It's located in the Fallon plaza on the Chevron side so there's plentiful parking. I would definitely return!

BBQ 85 is located on Fallon Rd and Dublin Blvd. The shopping center has a bunch of food establishments. It's a bar/ karaoke/ restaurant. The menu consists of spicy salty bar bites, skewers, and noodles. The sister restaurants are Dumplings 85 and Yayume in SanRamon. We ordered the following items: Skewers Corn Lamb Veggie tofu rolls Pork and cabbage dumplings Lanzhou beef noodle soup Spicy marinated tofu and veggie salad The huge Lanzhou beef noodle soup was good. The skewers were ok very salty. We went right at 4:30pm when they just opened, service was good but we were the only patrons. Plenty of parking in the parking lot.

Authentic Chinese skewers. Every item we ordered was flavorful. The staff was friendly and efficient. The ambiance is simple but clean, has a karaoke in house.

Me and my partner were actually trying to find some late night Chinese food, when we stumbled BBQ 85... which we were really surprised to find that they were still open! The boss greeted us courteously and spoke in very native Chinese and served us water right on the spot -- and the appetizers came out quite quickly too! I loved the environment as well, as it was quite spacious :) We also got fried rice on top of that and two bowls of noodles... one each for me and for him. Would definitely come here again to support small businesses like this when open late this is a gem never to miss!

It's kind of pricey, especially compared to the original location in Oakland, but the food is authentic Hong Kong/Cantonese style cuisine. This will definitely satisfy your carb/MSG cravings, lol! We got takeout for a weekday lunch. This is our usual order now: Fresh sliced fish porridge, $14.95 - they always do a great job with this. This is the Cantonese equivalent of chicken noodle soup. The texture is just right, there are plenty of fish pieces, and the flavor is classic, right down to the ginger slivers. Shrimp rice noodle roll $9.50 - DH's favorite dim sum item. It is tender, and the shrimp are large and crispy. Comes with the classic soy-based sauce. Crab meat braised E - fu noodle $24.95 - DH's favorite noodle. This type of noodle is very soft and absorbs all of the flavors from the crab pieces and sauce. Great choice for seafood lovers! Shrimp silky egg chow fun $24.95 - little one's favorite. This one just has such a great combination of flavors. The velvety "gravy" really ties everything together and makes it go down smoothly. This one has flat noodles (cheung fun), like the classic beef chow fun. Comfort food for sure! Sautéed Chinese green $22.95 - this looks to be pan seared choy sum. Seems kind of expensive, but they actually pack a lot of greens into the box. They don't have the veggie clay pot anymore, Barbecue pork $15.95 - they do a pretty good job with this one too. The flavors are really good and interestingly enough it comes with these little beans on the bottom. Pork tends to be a little bit on the lean side. Portion size seems okay. We didn't get the beef chow fun because we didn't need that much food. But that one is a classic here and they usually do a great job with it too. Food is usually ready very quickly and everything was steaming hot. Staff are efficient and friendly. Give it a try; this place is consistently good and I highly recommend it!

I enjoyed the service there . Without asking , they gave us the serving chop stick , a pot of tea ( we requested Iron Buddha tea leaves) and an extra pot of hot water to keep the tea pot filled . We ordered the soup dumplings with fish mew in high soup . It tasted great . Many restaurants don't have this item or they made it not as good . The high soup is tasty and the ingredients had a lot of seafood and shrimp . Fish mew was good size . I wan impressed when we asked for small ceramic bowl to share the food , they gave us two heated bowls . Just like you wanted beer in the club and they gave you an iced mug . To keep the high soup and soup dumplings in high temperatures, it tasted better . I like this Koi Palace better than the one in Milpitas . It has much better customer services . Before the main dinning hall , it has many more rooms attached to the main dinning area. You can reserve rooms for private events or family gathering . You can also make reservations on line or by phone to reserve your table . So you dominates to wait , just walk up to the check in counter and bring seated . I usually make my reservations 3 days in advance to make sure I can get the large table. We ordered the egg tofu with veggies, beef brisket, ham and egg fried rice, and the chicken with Chinese sausage clay pot. The beef brisket was the clear winner -- tender, flavorful, and they give you a generous portion. No tiny rationed pieces hiding in sauce. The overall flavor profile was balanced and comforting without feeling overloaded with MSG. The egg tofu was light and nicely seasoned, and the fried rice delivered that classic Hong Kong café vibe. The clay pot had great flavor too, though I personally prefer larger pieces of chicken with less bone. Just a texture preference -- seasoning was on point. Prices are reasonable, especially for the portion sizes. You leave full without feeling like you overpaid. Ambiance is casual and simple. One drawback during the summer: there were quite a few flies while we were dining. The doors were closed, so it was a bit puzzling and definitely distracting. Overall, good flavors, good portions, good prices. I'd come back -- especially for that brisket -- just hoping the fly situation improves during warmer months.

The century eggs didn't have much flavor, which was surprising. Ginger slices or even green onion toppings (like pictured in the menu) would improve the porridge. I would not come back for it, I'd rather get it from 99 ranch's hot deli section.

The kung pao chicken had some flavor in the sauce I wasn't totally loving, but was spicy and packed with chicken, peanuts, onions, and bell peppers. The green onion pancake was crispy and delicious, with eight slices to an order. But the star of the show was the yang chou fried rice, which is that fluffy, soft type of fried rice I absolutely love. That was the first thing that got finished at the table. Portions are generous.
