I just realized I have never written a review for this place while I have lived in Danville for almost 20 years. This is a place where I would order to-go when my family and I crave for Chinese food. It's not the most authentic Chinese food, but their food is still very awesome. I always order their lunch special, especially love their Kungpao Beef with rice. You can substitute with fried rice, which is the best fried rice by far as an American-Chinese restaurant. Lunch special also comes with soup, they usually serve hot and sour soup, but by surprised from yesterday order, they gave wonton soup. First time ever to try their wonton, but unfortunately, it's not my favorite. Soup itself is tasty, but the wonton wasn't that great. I'm not saying it tastes bad, it tastes still very good, but when you bite into the wonton, I feel it is just fill with meat. Maybe I'm used to shrimps are in the wonton. But this is still my favorite American-Chinese restaurant in the area, I am sure I will keep coming back. read more

It's been a while since I last tried China Paradise, probably a few years, and we ordered quite a few dishes to go this time. Here's my review. Sweet and Sour Fish: One of the better sweet-and-sour dishes I've had, and the dish looked very vibrant and inviting. I usually don't enjoy sweet-and-sour anything, but this one didn't bother me. The fish was tender, and the sauce wasn't overpowering. Princess Chicken: I thought this dish was pretty good, but it reminded me too much of General Tso's chicken but milder and a bit sweeter. Hot and Spicy Eggplant: The eggplant was tender, but the sauce leaned tangier than I prefer. If it were more savory, it would be perfect. Chow Mein: Fantastic. The noodles were thick, bouncy, and flavorful. I'd definitely get this again. Szechuan Bean Cake with Minced Pork: Fried tofu cubes topped with a savory minced-pork sauce. I enjoyed this a lot, especially with steamed rice. Stir-Fried Beef Dish (possibly Mongolian Beef): Tender beef slices with a lot of bell peppers. The flavor was good, though the amount of bell pepper wasn't really to my taste. Otherwise, the dish was okay Salt and Pepper Pork: Deep-fried pork ribs seasoned with salt, pepper, garlic, and chili slices. Delicious, and great with steamed rice. China Paradise is the epitome of Chinese American cuisine. The menu consists of the classic Chinese American dish like sesame chicken, beef and broccoli, honey walnut shrimp, fried rice and chow mein, etc. If you're craving more traditional dishes like steam sea bass or peking duck or pork belly in a clay pot then this might not be the spot for you. But China Paradise does satisfy a craving when you want some lightly battered protein tossed with a sweet sauce and a healthy portion of noodles on the side. I visited on a Sunday evening with the family and the place was bustling. Earlier in the evening it was just a couple tables and a few minutes later the place filled up. Lot of folks were coming in and out for take out orders as well. We ordered a variety of items. We got the sizzling rice soup, orange chicken, combination chow mein, beef & broccoli and a steam fish. Everything was pretty tasty but I can't say anything left an impression. Taste was consistent all across and for the price I will say it's similar to most Chinese restaurant in Danville. I was in the area with my dad and we were both craving Chinese food. So we decided to try this place. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It felt very welcoming and warm. We ordered the lunch special which was sweet and sour chicken with fried rice. It was very delicious. We also ordered another lunch special with garlic chicken and steamed rice. The chicken was very tasty. And the lunch specials come with the soup of the day. The soup was quite spicy. Personally, I did not really enjoy it. But my dad really enjoyed it. I swear, I wrote 3 reviews on this wonderful restaurant but not sure what happened to them? Anyway, DA BEST combo chow mein, hands down. My husband and I became kids, super excited, swallowing the dish down like we haven't been eating in months... Why it's so good: The noodles were always tender, the sea foods and chicken were fresh and the smell of high heat during cooking made the dish specially yummy. Chilly today. Didn't feel like cooking. Broke out the puffer jacket and headed out for a linner (late lunch, early dinner) with Mom at around 4:45p. Mom had her usual walnut shrimp while I warmed up with soup. In my quest to eat healthier, I more often have broth rather than cream-based soups like minestrone or in this case, China Paradise's yummy wonton soup. The wontons were plump and juicy. So were the shrimp. And the baby bok choy was tender crisp. Only bummer, today's soup stock was overly salty. Not a problem, diluted it a bit with some ice from my water glass. Mom likes her food to be on the sweet side and that isn't limited to dessert. I tried her entree but it was too sweet for me. Also, I don't care so much for mayo-based sauces. Yummy when I was a kid tho. Still like the glazed walnuts. Food here is consistent. While not innovative or trendy, ingredients are fresh and high quality. Also, for most dishes, portions are generous. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Dining room is bright and open if a little generic. Our go-to for an everyday, any day type meal. read more

Egg rolls and crab puffs were burned and not edible. Puffs smelled burned when opening. Called restaurant and they offered to send replacements. Had ordered delivery, waited 30 minutes for delivery, tried them to see if burned throughout, kids would only eat other dishes. We did not want replacements delivered another 30 minutes later. They are so helpful! We were a party of seven sans reservations. They were able to accommodate us with a super short wait. Yes, we ordered three different noodle dishes but it was worth it because they were all really delicious. We have to remember to try the mu shu next time. I place an order for pick up for 2 orders of bbq pork & 2 orders of deep fried prawns. When I got to the restaurant to pick it up, they told me $80. Thought I would try Chinese food again because it was close and convenient to order to go. I called in and no one answered so I parked in front of the place and went in to order. I told the woman behind the counter that no one was answering the phone so I ordered to go and asked if she can bring the food out to my car when it's ready? She was nice enough to bring the food out to my car because I had kids in the car! The containers were carefully packed in a plastic clear bag with the name of the restaurant on it which I thought was a nice touch! They give a lot of food packed in the containers which is more than enough! 4+ A family owned and operated (at least it feels like it) Chinese restaurant located in a strip mall anchored by a high end grocer in an affluent area. The folks here were very friendly and the Chinese food feels like it is designed to appease the demographics of the area, but is well executed. Came here with my brother's family later on a Saturday. We were hungry and thought this place would be perfect to pop in and order a variety of delicious things. Plenty of parking in the lot and we were seated right away. The portions at China Paradise are huge for their price, probably double the size of most Chinese restaurants. The food is pretty decent for the price. My favorite is the hot spicy eggplant. The eggplant is soaked in oil and sauce and has such a savory flavor. It goes perfectly with hot rice. Another good dish to order is the mushu mushu - it's well made and the vegetables and meat go so well together. The chow mein is a little oily but still good - the noodles have a nice chewiness to it! We also ordered the chicken salad expecting the boiled chicken salad from other Chinese restaurants, but it tasted more like an American lettuce salad with fried chicken pieces. Overall, the food is decent (pretty Americanized) but the portions and price really make it stand out. read more

Came here based on the many positive reviews, but unfortunately our experience was the complete opposite. The food arrived within about five minutes of ordering, which raised concerns right away. The prices in this place are obscene. We don't find the portions that big. I would rather slightly smaller portions and affordable prices. The wor wonton soup had everything in it but was flavorless. We ate Mo shu pork which was mushy and plum sauce again flavorless. The crepes to wrap in were super thin and difficult to use. Gave this establishment another try after 5 years. Once again, totally disappointed. Bland chow-mein with absolutely no veggies/lettuce. Mu Shu chicken tasted undercooked. Pancakes were dry and broken. The only good flavor came from the plum sauce. Will not be back. read more

Wow, I am completely stunned. Just had a very bad experience with China Paradise. We have been coming here regularly for over 30 years and it's always been good and a good experience. Last night I ordered four dishes for takeout a total of $75. Three of the dishes were good but, the green beans and tofu was not. We found it very oily and the green beans were very overcooked. And for $19, that was not OK. I called today to tell them that we were unhappy with one of the dishes. I was told I needed to bring it back so they could show the kitchen and see that there was 80% of it left. In the past years, when we have a problem, we would simply call and we would receive a credit. We had to do so , maybe 5 times in the last 30 years. I asked if I could send a picture , which I did. They then called me back and said I needed to bring the dish back to show again , that it was 80% of the container. And then they would give me a credit. This did not sit well with me. What if they don't think that it's 80% and I've just driven up there and wasted my time.. I called them back and said I was not happy with being asked to do this , that the picture should show so and again explained that I had been a customer for over 30 years and asked if that's how they treated a loyal Customer All they could say to me is that that was their policy. Both my husband and I feel that this was a ridiculous request and we will not be going back there again. Thought that I would share , for to me , they seem to have changed greatly. read more

This was an excellent place to eat Chinese food. Unfortunately, every time we order our favorite dishes, it's never the same consistency, and god forbid you ask for extra spicy. We had to return our food because it was lacking in spice. When they returned our food with extra spice, they used a new plate to show they had done something. BUT NO SPICE! This was my go to Chinese food spot when I lived in the area. I have since moved to Dublin and they closed their Dublin location so now I drive all the way back to the Blackhawk location because it's one of the better Chinese restaurants. I have not really dealt with rudeness that I've read from their other reviews. But I'm Chinese so I'm used to Chinese people not being warm and fuzzy when it comes to customer service. Most importantly, love that they have lunch specials. They always have healthy portions of food. My most favorite is the vegetable chow mein but I do add either chicken or bbq pork and my other favorite is cashew chicken. Happy Chinese New Year!!
