We were just two people so the seating choice inside was just down a narrow hallway. The restaurant was a little drafty on a cool evening. Today I find myself at 11th Tiger, right on the outskirts of the Danville downtown area, in a much quieter part of the area but still nestled in a shopping mall front that's busy with plenty of other eateries (with another Thai place literally just down the street from this spot). The good news about this spot though is that since it is a bit further away from the main area, parking is somewhat easier to find right on the street. 11th Tiger is a quaint little spot, and the restaurant is not huge, but certainly can seat a good number of people inside and outside combined. The outside patio on the side of the building too is pretty fun as it's designed as a outside brunch garden aesthetic, so certainly a good spot to chill if you want to dine outdoors. The inside is also decorated nicely, and has an overall homey feel to it. The service here was great. No complaints at all as the servers were very friendly and approachable even though they were busy in the midst of doing to-go orders and other things. The menu here is a decent size, with various options for lunch specials, and plenty of regular entrees as well for dinner time. There is a good range of all of your typical Thai food options here, so even though it may feel like a trendier spot, you will still be able to get all of your favorites here for the experienced cravings. One thing that does stand out here too is the price of everything on the menu. While the lunch options are very affordable, their regular menu items are just the same too. So pricing wise, especially when you're in this area of Danville, it's certainly a great find for your wallet, and the amount of food you get for each order is just as comparable. Good bang for your buck. Let's get down to the fooding. We ordered a few dishes today. The meal started off with a beverage with a Thai Iced Tea, which was good. The appetizer we got today was the fried calamari which comes with a creamy sauce. This was actually one of my favorite dishes today, as the calamari was fried perfectly, and the kind of calamari they used was tender and tasty. Even the Jalapenos in there were so delicious especially when dipped in that sauce. And for the price, really can't be beat. The pineapple fried rice we got was also delicious. It had all the basics of what you would find in a typical pineapple fried rice, and it was cooked well as it had that aroma coming off the rice, and mixed well with all of the ingredients and flavors. My only gripe with this though was that it comes with shrimp and chicken. While there was plenty of chicken, there was literally 1 shrimp, and I mean literally. I thought perhaps they were hiding at the bottom or something, and went treasure hunting but came back with still just that 1 shrimp on top. It was delicious, but come on... Next is where things start to go downhill a bit, and that was with the "crispy" chicken and basil. With the quotations, I'm sure everybody can easily figure out that the dish was probably not even close to being marked as crispy. The only part of this dish that was remotely crispy was just the basil. I feel maybe they used way too little breading so when they tried to crisp it up, it just didn't go. However, the worse part of this dish was the chicken, as it was tough, and haven't had chicken that was this chewy before. And when I say chewy, it actually had elasticity (not in a good way) in it too. The sauces and flavors of the dish itself was actually good, but when the main star of the dish was like this, there was just no chance to savor it properly in the end. I did ask the server if we can maybe switch protein next time, and she said should be able to so perhaps try again next time. Final verdict? I'm a fan, though still cautious about certain aspects of the place. The calamari app was the best thing today, but I'm not sure if that's a good thing to be hanging your hat on when the rest of the meal wasn't quite as expected. Place is very clean, and has a good local vibe to it. Service was good. Food portions was decent. Prices were affordable. But the food control and quality for some of those other dishes really could use a bit more focus. Again, first time here, but will be back again to try them out with some other dishes. read more

Quaint and cute little restaurant in downtown Danville. As much as I've eaten around Danville, I can't believe I missed this little gem. Super cute patio area. Although you're sitting outside, it's quiet and enclosed. The service is lovely. The people are sweet, friendly and very courteous. Food came out timely. I ordered the lychee iced tea. Lightly sweetened and packed with caffeine. Don't forget... it's still Thai iced tea! Delicious. For appetizer, we ordered the Garden Rolls. With the sauce, they were scrumptious! This could be a meal on its own with 4 giant rolls filled with lettuces and sliced avocado. Crispy Chicken and Basil - fragrant and flavorful. I loved the crispy basil leaves. This dish has a nice spicy kick. Emerald Beef - Tender slices of ribeye in a peppercorn sauce. Great spice and flavors. Very disappointing experience. The food was extremely oily, the tofu basil dish was dry, and the chicken was so tough and rubbery that it was difficult to chew. The Tom Yum soup was bland and lacked the flavor you'd expect. Overall, the food quality was well below expectations. read more

They have a small shop near the high school, but they definitely deserve a bigger space. They make good use of their limited space without making it feel cramped or too crowded. They service was good but they do get busy so be prepared to wait, especially when outdoor seating is not possible due to weather. Could be 4 **** but if I compare with what I had in Thailand I can only give 3... **** Tom Yum Goong with prawns- one of the best Tom yum I have tried in the Bay Area. ** Drunken Noodles with beef - not the best but decent. The noodles are stuck together and hard to separate. A bit too sweet even for Thai food. **** Basil fried rice with chicken - taste wise was not bad but not amazing. Not enough basil as I could taste basil at all. The fact that they used purple rice that brought a different texture gave this dish a push to 4 ****. **** Naked eggplant with minced chicken and prawns - very flavorful and appetizing. Definitely enough basil in here. I prefer eggplant with skin but it is called naked eggplant so it was indeed naked. This used to be our favorite spot in Danville and we ordered here multiple times in a month and recommended to others. However, the quality does not feel the same. Taste is hit or miss. Customer service has been inconsistent also. Last time we ordered more than $200 worth of food. They overloaded super thin bags which ripped while I was carrying the food to the car. Most recently we ordered some veggie rolls, Panang curry with tofu, veggie puffs (Thai samosas), and pineapple fried rice, & curry with roti. Each dish was served fresh, and the service was friendly & swift. There is outdoor seating, so each visit we took our pup with us. Their customer service leaves something to be desired, it's never the same and neither is the food. Portion sizes have changed and prices have risen. Ordered Pineapple fried rice and the menu states it comes with chicken and shrimp. Chicken was on the dry side and there was literally "ONE" shrimp in the whole dish. I thought maybe after serving a little, I would come across more shrimp, but nope, only ONE in the whole dish. Ordered crispy basil chicken, however, it was anything but crispy. With all the various restaurants in the Danville/San Ramon area, I doubt that I will be visiting this one again anytime soon. read more

Hot summer day' 25 Wednesday. I dined for first time . Didn't need to order appetizers sodas or desserts because I was solo. The menu was a whole job in itself . I don't like menu s without pics especially if it's an Asian cuisine. The descriptions just don't do it for me. One thing is the place is real tiny . Even the bathroom is like an airplane bathroom. There is outside tables but it was way too warm. Inside the layout is real scrunched in. I like to eat with lots of room I'm assuming there is a lot of takeout orders. Service was excellent, prices are fair if you get the specials but the chefs special can be a bit pricey . I went with the bbq pork and crispy veggie roll. Both ere fantastic the taste I had no issue with. There is a reason why they have been name a top Thai restaurant and the almost 5 star rating . The menu is large and has an abundant of items by the deserts only has 2 things. So I went literally across the street to have a banana split at Fosters freeze. :) The bathroom was weird as the window was cracked open and you can see a person standing working just a awkward situation and the little saloon double fr much doors getting there were too tight and odd way for a bathroom entrance . The tables don't have any condiment , napkins, or sauces - you have to ask but they do have various types of hot sauces . They give you a jar of cold water if you chose not to order any beverage . They have tasty dishes full of flavor! We ordered curry, pad thai, calamari, larb, curry puffs, stir fried tofu with veggies and fresh veggie rolls. I recommend everything except the calamari. The calamari was well seasoned and tasty but it was a little chewy. Customer service was amazing. We sat outside as the patio looked cozy. The 11th Tiger is a hidden gem in the sleepy downtown of Danville. They offer delicious food at a decent price. Actually it's easier to find a value meal here than a street parking spot even on a random Tuesday evening. The other thing you can find is a huge menu selection. Just when you thought the selection is vast on the front page you flip it around and see there are more to choose from. It took awhile to decide but we finally ended up with the Roti & Curry Dip, Crispy Roll, Angel Wings, Pad Thai and BBQ Chicken. Not the most traditional selection on my part but it was what we were craving. Honestly, I would select these items again if I came back. Everything tasted great and fresh. All the sauces that came with the appetizers were really good. The Pad Thai noodles were flavorful. On top of that the service was on point. Food came prompt and water cups were never empty. The restaurant is perfect for parties of four. I didn't see tables bigger for parties of 6 or more. Perhaps they combined them together. The restaurant is not that big. It seemed like a lot of people come here for takeouts. During our time there people came in and out for their pickup orders. The beef was tender, but the dish lacked seasoning and that signature wok-hei smokiness; it could've used more garlic and soy sauce for depth. As someone of Cambodian & Thai heritage, I feel it's important to offer some cultural context before getting into this review. This restaurant clearly caters to the local demographic, which influences its interpretation of Southeast Asian dishes. I ordered the Lao style papaya salad & requested it to be Lao spicy. Unfortunately, the execution fell short. Rather than incorporating the heat into the dish through proper pounding, they simply tossed in five whole chilies. An approach that bypasses the essence of Lao flavor, where spice & umami should meld into the sauce. I understand the restraint with padaek due to its bold aroma, but if a guest specifically asks for Lao style with Lao level heat, authenticity should be the priority. The fire prawns, marketed as a dish "for spicy lovers" were another letdown in terms of heat. While the flavor was delicious, it leaned toward sweetness with no kick. Even my 9-year-old, who has a very low spice tolerance, had no issue eating it. On a more positive note, the pad see ew, rare beef salad, and Lao sausage were solid & enjoyable. Would I return? Personally, no. While the food isn't bad by any means, it lacked the authenticity I was hoping for & the portion sizes didn't justify the price point for me. read more

I love coming to 11th Tiger for Thai food in Danville. They are also a great take out option. Their food comes out very quick and is reasonably priced. I have not tried something here that we did not like! The only down side or thing to consider is that they would not be the best for large parties. We had a party of 6 and I would not go larger than that. They also have outdoor seating and I believe they are dog friendly as well. read more
